Why do people speak other languages that I can't speak or understand?

Daar ben ik het helemaal mee eens

(yeah, it's fun to show of my Dutch here, but I do agree with you. everyone should learn English, the world would be easier that way!)

Out of interest why should it be English that is preserved rather than Spanish, Mandarin, Hebrew or Norwegian?

Funny, since the difficulty of learning a language isn't the same for everyone, as for widespread... well, yeah, though it still hangs at 3rd place... *shot*

Mandarin Chinese. Of course, that is only for number of speakers.

only because like over 30% of the world population exists of Chinese people...

EDIT: whoops, I mean 20%. guess it's less than I thought~

Well, right. A more comparable would be Spanish then, since it's in 2nd, and is definitely more distributed. lol

other languages? that's just a running joke made on naive people. do you really think people could communicate using those weird squiggly lines, for instance?
