Technically, even the viewing of live action CP wouldn't harm anyone either, if the record is already made. It's the production that harms children.

You don't say that visiting the Auschwitz museum supports mass murder, just because the original location was made with mass murder, or that watching a car chase report in the news supports reckless driving, because it was made while recording reckless driving.

In fact, one of the reasons why the CP business is thriving, is that the authorities created an arificial scarcity of CP, by being so effective about stopping it's spreading. So, for your average pedo who wants more than cartoon figures, CP is so rare and valuable, that they are ready to pay so much money for it, that makes it worth for the russian mafia to keep producing it.

If every confiscated CP recording would get anonymously leaked on torrent sites (by the police), and the police wouldn't make a fuss about removing them, your average pedo could just download them, instead of paying to the mafia to surprise sex more children.

While you're probably right (I read an article once which loosely said how to find CP; while I didn't check it was correct for obvious reasons, it made the implication it's easy to find if one wanted so perhaps it's not as scarce as you think), this topic probably could have done with some kind of warning about the topic about to be discussed. People watching CP is indeed harmful. You are supporting the "business" and thus you are causing demand. Since there is demand for it people produce CP. Scarcity is not the only thing that drives demand.

This is an argument designed to increase the supply of child porn, were it to actually go into effect as some sort of enforced argument for how the police should operate. However, it is just an argument by a guy no one cares about, so I don't give a damn.

Additionally, this is an unhealthy outlet that is bad for those who watch it. I am happy to say I have never knowingly seen CP. Please don't post it here. This is my little sanctuary, this forest far from the forest!
