Kintenbo Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Looks like I should have waited! Talk about a drop in price!
whase Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 kid icarus? I guess I should've seen that one coming since brawl... I wonder if this will also happen here in Europe, and if any of those games would be FE...

Yes for it happening in Europe: http://www.officialn...ador-programme/ http://www.officialn...ames-confirmed/
Ragnell Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I'm so pumped. They plan to send 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games to all early adopters via the eShop. Definitely not worth the extra price of the system, but at least it's something. EDIT: GBA:Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and five more. NES:Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Balloon Fight and five more.
Balcerzak Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I am not too fussed about the extra price, actually. Despite my probably not having purchased all the downloadable games, assuming 20 at $5, that's pretty much the price drop right there.
Mousefire Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I was about to have an aneurysm. Then I read further. Damn Nintendo's good. I'm a bit disappointed that they have no plans of making virtual console GBA games past those 10.
Zanarkin Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Awesome, had it not dropped i would have most likely gone for Vita. Although... there is not much the 3ds has to offer right now so i'll wait and Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled ;_;
Icon of Sin Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Nintendo is losing a lot of money. Pretty normal that there's such a huge price drop. At any rate I'll take my twenty free games.
Raven Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 US$ 169.99 = 104.052152 UK£ Watch them put the price to £130 or something.
Florete Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Metroid Fusion Jesus, I still own this on GBA and play it occasionally. Also I might get a 3DS some time this year.
Erk Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 If only I still played video games. You've ascended past them, yes?
Original Alear Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 You've ascended past them, yes? You know the whole "get on my level" thing? Well I'm climbing a different column. I have no idea who else is on a similar level. Or where the column leads. Or what the fuck is going on. I'm sure I will play video games again someday. They remain on the column.
Integrity Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 US$ 169.99 = 104.052152 UK£ Watch them put the price to £130 or something. According to a gal I know in NI, the price is being set for £100. For whatever that's worth.
shroudening Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I think at this point I'd rather get a gameboy micro at this point. Too many good gba games I've missed, not enough 3DS games to really be worth the money.
Original Alear Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 This attitude towards gaming is depressing. They are doing a great job pulling out all the stops and all the fans are like "whatever i dun care." This is truly depressing.
Aleph Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I bought all those games back when they were worth it. This price drop is completely useless to me.
Tangerine Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I am totally indifferent on both handhelds. I don't play many games these days to begin with, much less portable games. Plus both of the new ones' biggest titles currently are just remakes. If the new home console generation isn't any better I may hold off on the new systems entirely for a while .
Aleph Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 They are remaking games because they know their greed has caused them to lose sight of how to make good games like the old ones. With all of the younger generations who missed out on those games they get a whole new chance to make money they don't deserve off of buried sources of revenue. Fuck 'em.
Momo Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 lol I don't like the phrase u mad but you are most certainly mad
Wist Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Offering free ports of twenty games (from long unsupported platforms, meaning I can play them on my PSP) that I can't imagine a large proportion of 3DS owners would have otherwise bought a significant percentage of seems an inexpensive way to mollify the reactions of early adopters who may feel ripped off having invested in the device only for its price to be cut by a third a few months after its release. I'm not going to speculate on market dynamics or developers' confidence in the viability of the platform because I can't be bothered to look for detailed, reliable 3DS hardware sales numbers and adjustments in Nintendo's profit forecasts, but I'll note that if I owned a 3DS I personally wouldn't be particularly pleased by this.
Raven Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Here in the UK at least, the release price was exactly the same as that of a PS3 at the time (about £230). Amazon.co.uk are currently selling the 3DS for £170. Cutting it to £100 is huge, assuming your NI friend is correct. I'm glad I held back. I'd be pretty pissed if I did pay the same price as a PS3 for it and found the price was being cut by over 50% less than five months later. 20 free old games I doubt I'd play would not justify this epically huge price cut for me. Edit: Why FftF? Perfectly viable topic to go into Other Games, Saloma.
