grandjackal
So, I am trying to open Nightmare_2.jar, and it pops up the icon, but no panel or anything. In fact, all it does is make the icon appear, then it goes away. No options or anything, just shows up, can't do anything, then goes away. What issues do I have here? Do I need to open it with something specific? Cause I'm told I'm not (not even the computer's pre-built jar launcher does anything). As a note, I run a Mac OS X version 10.4.11, in case it's incompatible or I just have an outdated computer. EDIT: Yes, I have java installed and yes I have the latest version. Crimson Red
Do you have Ja-*shot* Is there a batch file to run this? Oh wait, Macs... uh, I'd blame it on Macs. I hate Max. this kid in my school who... ugh Try right-clicking it and hitting "open with" or the Mac equivalent of that and then select Java. :\ or quintuple check your Java or whatever, but you said it's the latest version so idk about that... >_>
grandjackal
Alright, I'll try that. ... ...There is no Java thing that wants to open it. Seriously, why do macs come pre-equipped with something it is never actually able to put to good use?
Celice
Try out a small-scale windows emulator. I've heard WINE mentioned before. I dunno--I've stuck to Windows most of the time .-. Also, with the modules you know all the data and offsets. You could always just manually edit the data with your hex editor of choice. grandjackal
Try out a small-scale windows emulator. I've heard WINE mentioned before. I dunno--I've stuck to Windows most of the time .-. I've tried WINE, and it does a fat load of nothing. It makes normally windows-style programs into mac compatible ones, and then...Lets me not use them anyways. Basically it was this. "You must properly unbox file after putting it through WINE". Ok. *Unboxes through WINE's instructions* "Cannot open file". Fat load of good that was. Also, with the modules you know all the data and offsets. You could always just manually edit the data with your hex editor of choice. Well the reason I am trying to get nightmare to work is because I had heard it had a very easy interface. Considering I'm no highly specialized programmer or whatever, manually editing with hex editor seems to be on a level 'm not quite at. Baby steps and all that. Unless hex editor is easier than I'm thinking... Also, if I can't get nightmare to work, a program that basically requires only Java on this piece of crap computer of mine, I get the feeling trying to make a hex editor work is going to make this computer evacuate it's intestines before it explodes.
