Tales of Artrucia

Okay, so I've been planning this for awhile and have constantly made, redone, and restarted this FE7 project numerous times while I'm getting to learn event hacking. I'm planning to include:

- custom maps,

- new mugs as well as some old ones playing as different characters

- hopefully a new new sprites if I can ever figure out how to make and insert battle animations

- And most importantly, a new style of playing, different from the traditional FE games. What I mean by that is, unlike most hacks where you get all of your characters along the way permanently, with the exception of the 8 main characters, who will remain with you in some fashion throughout the game, all of the other characters will come and go as they please, depending on events in the story. So you may have 15 characters one chapter, then have 5 the next, and so on.

Once I have a base for the first 4 chapters, I'll post a patch. And this is the basis of the story.

About 20 years prior to the story, There was was a huge continental war throughout Artucia. The counties of Celeste, Irinor and Alphalia fought together to quell the invasion of the Symphian Empire, which sought to conquer Artrucia. To help with their goal however, the Symphian Empire enlisted the help of both the Gypsies, who wander the Great Plains south of Irinor, and the Dragonkin, a race of half manakete people. After the Symphian Empire's defeat, they were stripped of much of their power, and Alphalia, their neightbor, took much of their land. The Gypsies also lost alot of land, which was given to the small country of Irinor. As for the dragonkin, their power was said to be to great, and as such, their race was wiped out, with the exception of a few who fled throughout the continent...

The story begins with your main characters, Sparrow, a drifting swordsman, and his close companion Ritza, who is dragonkin. They are accompanied by Willow, Sparrow's childhood friend and love interest. The trio are misfits, just looking for a place to belong, because even though they all come from different backgrounds, none of them felt like they belonged. As they try to find their place in the world, their destinies become predetermined when they get caught up in what may soon become the second continental war..

I'm rewriting the entire script again and therefore starting all over AGAIN, but I still wanted to put my idea up as something to possibly look forward to once I'm ready for it to be tested.

*UPDATE*

Finally had time to finish my beta. There are a few things here and there, but it's completely playable up to Ch. 3. I am in the process of creating chapter 4. But I'm still open to suggestions as well while I an making adjustments.

WTF....this is the second person who's said they've had this problem -__-. Apparently I'm not patching it right??

Would it just be easier for me to post a patched rom?

Can't post roms on the site.

Or most FE sites for that matter.

Crap...then any idea what's wrong with my patch? I've downloaded it off the site and patched it myself several times and it worked fine...Is it the site I'm uploading to? or my patching it?

The FE rom I was using was one I had done some hex and text editing in that I had forgotten. I apologize for the mix up and have fixed the patch. Hopefully it should work fine now. My bad :$

It still works just fine anyway.

After playing it, I have this to say:

Maps use too much tile spam.

This guy:

shot1j.png

Is too strong for the demo, but that can't be helped since it is a three chapter demo.

Mugs could be a bit smoother. Sparrow could use a different black hair color for his hair.

You should look over your text again since you are missing some [A] tags and there are a couple grammar errors and missing periods.

The world you have and the events you are using are great though. I would suggest making it cause a gameover if the civilians in chapter two die.

Also, Childhood friends never win.

Battle palettes need to be fixed for some characters.

Oh, and you should make a credit page.

Thanks for the feedback. With the first guy, well...I'm planning on not having him usable long. If you played Chapter 3, you saw he was gone, and if you just used him, that chapter's gonna suck to play through. It's just for those two chapters. And I wanted him not to necessarily be a jeigan because of events later in the game and he won't be seen for awhile and by then it should be explained. Because if you just use him in the chapters you have him, the next chapters will kick your butt when he's gone.

Which mugs require the most "shape ups?" I'm already aware of Willow and Wisp.

Thanks about the small grammar errors, I rarely can find my own >_>

Honestly, I wanted to add a few game overs in some chapters, but I'm not exactly sure how to code a game over for anyone except the main lord. I honestly have only been event hacking almost about uh, 3 weeks? But I just never found something on other game over codes. I also want it to be game over if any of the Lark dies in Chapter 2.

Lol Sparrow and Willow aren't exactly canon...that will also be explained XD

As for palettes, I have only done the main playable character's palettes so far, except Lark's I think.

And yes, I will definitely have a credit page up because I've had alot of help. This was really more of an open beta, since I'm still at the stage where I may completely restart the project again. But thanks for the feedback, really.
