Rothene
This shall be a simple run where I shall utilise mainly 'blue' characters, those outlines in THIS thread: http://serenesforest...showtopic=29142 Although I'll occasionally use others to recruit characters. AND I WILL USE MATURITY DROP! Although I'm not sure to give it to Samto, Roger or...Matthis. Do not presume this is a challenge run. I'm in no way challenging myself. And screw canon. MyUnit definitely was part of the group sent to assassinate Marth... Behold, Benedict...raised in a church, grown to be beautiful and destined to be wealthy. Backstory... After the great slaying of Medeus, villians are only now recovering from the terrible blow to their freedom. Where is their rights to be evil? How can Marth's lot preach of justice when they themselves deny others to live as they want to? To pillage and inflict great cruelty. This is the story of Benedict, the Hero of Darkness, champion of all that is not good. But as evil is now weak, they would have to move subtly. What better way to beat the enemy, than to infiltrate them and learn their strengths and weakness?
Darros
So that's what that thread was for. True Blue units for most kills.
Rothene
Prologue 1(Might skip through most others ): Sacrifice and Lies Story... They had been planning for years, scheming with others to bring down Marth's regime. Benedict and fellow assassins Katarina and J, the flame haired pink armoured pegasusknight were sent to bring down the tyranical rule of Marth and his Blue Army who all forcefully impress their morals on others, persuading others to do good or die. Will their attempt succeed? J: Where's Benedict? Marth's here and it's almost time to commence the attack. Katarina: He said something about a terrible omen and went to pick up some blue clothing... J: Huh? That useless...nevermind, we can do this without him. I just fly over the walls and... Katarina: Oh snap, I forgot, he mentioned something about... Jagen: Hmm...a soldier in full red armour! I haven't seen those since the last war! She must be an enemy! *charges* Katarina: ...avoid wearing red. J: Now you tell me?! Katarina: I...I'm sorry...I forgot...it seemed nonsensical then. J: It still does. But crap, Marth's army sports blue uniforms, while Medues' one uses red! Katarina: Oh noes! Their leading paladin charges our way! J: Stay back Katarina, inform Benedict to call off the attack, we've screwed up big time. Katarina: But...I'll fight with you! We're a team. J: Look, try to be useful for a change, I have a pegasus, I can fly away, you on the other hand don't. If you stay here, they would associate you with me...so *lunges at Katarina with her iron lance* Katarina: Gyaaahh *runs away in panic* Jagen: Cur...how there you try to harm a defenseless recruit. Have you no honour? J: Pah, do your worse, I'll not go down so easily! Fool, I can fly away... J: Why...could I...have not flown over the walls... In the mean time along the recruitment halls... Katarina: Kyaaaah!!! Benedict: Woah! Stop! What's wrong Katarina?! Katarina:It's terrible...J...she's *goes and explains how they were spotted and how J had originally planned to slip out by flying over the walls* Benedict: What?! Flying over the walls? Was she daft? Didn't she study in the world of Fire Emblem, you can fly over mountains, over rivers, over forts castles and villages...but walls? You can't fly over those? it's not PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE! Katarina: It...seemed like common sense to be able to. Katarina: *sob* so...what do we do now? How do we get away?J said to call of the plan. Benedict: Call it off? Hey, I'm the leader of the team here. The alpha male!(because I'm the only guy...) We do plan B! Which should have been plan A... Katarina: What is plan B? Benedict: I join the army. That way I can supply information on its weak points so that you can lead the reinforcements to better assault Marth next time. And so... Benedict: Sir! I, a loyal subject of Marth's lands wishes to join the army sir! (crap...that sounds pathetic...what if I have to actually FIGHT this guy! With my combat skills, I'm more likely to impale myself on those stupidly designed shoulder spikes...) Jagen: (That blue hair and blue clothing...like Marth! He must be a good man and a decent fighter at that!) I see, what is your name soldier? Benedict: B...Ben...de...dick...Benedict sir! (Dammit, don't stutter now!) Jagen: Splendid name! Welcome to the army! Benedict: Wah? Sir, You mean I don't need to fight you? Jagen: No, you look trustworthy and powerful. Your blue says it all! Most of the good units have some blue in them...Luke, Catria, Frey, Barst, Wendell...and more! Benedict: ...right. What really happened in game: I started a Lunatic reverse mode with FemaleMyUnit Peggy and dropped all her vulnerary and went on a suicide charge...to her credit she was down to 2 Hp and dodged 2 attacks from Jagen in a row...sadly she had to die for the image Then I made a new game with myUnit Male, picking fighter because I like the outfit in the portrait. Will reclass him to Curate ASAP for story purposes 8] It's NM...so no surprise mad charge worked well...Benedict gained anything but Str/Mag/Res. Rothene
Prologue 2: Test of mettle against metal Story... Katarina: Congratz on getting in! Benedict: Pfft, it was nothing. So anything you found out while I was risking my neck for the organisation while facing the might of Jagen? Katarina: Yes, there are a gambler, a looker and someone whom I suspect got in because the recruiter was a pedophile. Benedict: Sigh...so those shall be my min...err...comrades right? Katarina: Yes, try to be careful when interacting with them. First impressions are important. You want to make strong allies... Luke: G'day mate! Benedict: Gah! Don't hurt me...(He's in blue armour, he MUST be strong) Luke: Erm...I guess I should bugger off then... Rody: Hey, I saw what you did back there, you should at least apologise... Benedict: Ugh...green armour...bleh! Rody: What?! You have a problem with my armour? See you in battle then...on the opposing side. Ryan: The other two think I'm weak and woul... Benedict: Get lost weakling... Rody: The heck's wrong with that fighter? Luke: Oh, he's prolly just having a bad day. Reckon we team up against those two? Rody: Sure, I'd be delighted to. Benedict: Why can't Kleine and Roro be on my side today, those level 1's make me sick. At least Kleine and Roro are already promoted and Roro can make more of himself! Katarina: You really should have been nicer to them. Kleine and Roro are busy doing other stuff. From what I observe, all of them but Luke hate you to some extent. Benedict: You mean, I've got to watch my back among them now right? Katarina: In a sense...yes. And so... Luke: Alroight mate, time to enter the fields. Benedict: ...(Crap, I...I think I might soil my pants) Katarina: Erm...noble knight? Luke: Yes? Katarina: Please be gentle to Benedict...he's...very sensitive to pain. Rody: You know, you're not helping your friends case with that statement. Because I-WILL-TAKE-EVERY-MEASURE-TO-EXPLOIT-IT 8] Katarina: Benedict! I'm sorreeeee!!! Benedict: What? what happened? Katarina: I told them about your sensitivity to pain. Benedict: Wonderful, now it'll be more challenging to earn both their friendship AND respect... Ryan: Great isn't it? The 'weakling' and the douche are paired up. Benedict: Shut... Ryan: Oh wait...I don't have sensitivity to pain and in fact, I trust I have better resistance to such things than those two cavaliers. Benedict: Ryan: So I guess that makes it the archer and the douchy weakling. We're so gonna get stomped. But don't worry, I protect your fragile flesh with my definitely manlier hide. Benedict: I hate, you. Ryan: The feeling's mutual. Benedict: *makes mental note to kill Katarina when she has outlived her usefulness* In the field... Rody: Hey, sorry buddy but I need to take a piss. Shouldn't be too long. Luke: No problems mate, I have weapon triangle advantage over one, and the other guy can barely scratch me with his shots Rody: You sound like you can solo them. Luke: I have confidence that I could potentially solo this entire war if I plan it well. Rody: That's...very reassuring. Benedict: Alright, tactical maneuver! I grab one fort, you grab the other! Ryan: We're splitting up? Benedict: Yes. Ryan: And the wisdom of this is? Benedict: I don't trust you not putting an arrow in my back. Ryan: Wow, you are a mind reader. Alright, I'll leave you to them. They hate you anyway. Benedict: (Fool, why should that honourable cavalier choose to target me over a defenseless archer...heheh) Luke: Prepare yourself fighter! It would be a dishonour if I struck an archer who can't defend himself! Benedict: You...fool! Didn't you know I have sensitivity to pain?! That's worse than being defenseless! Luke: Quite babbling! In a real war, I would have already cut you down! Taste the power of weapon triangle advantage! Benedict: Gah! Pain! Boy with stupid hair cut help me! Ryan: But you're too far away! And what if I accidentally shot you instead? Luke: I lost...how...I saw this flash of light and... Benedict: I may be sensitive to pain, but this fort kept healing the pain away...so I guess it was tough luck for you. Rody: I just took a piss and that guy in blue armour's down? I actually thought he was real quality soldier. Well, time to charge that pathetic excuse of a fighter! Benedict: Why, I've been expecting you...in this strategic location of all places... Rody: Dammit hold still and stop leading me to get my lance stuck in a tree! Benedict: Oh no...I plan to win this fight. You know...that thing about my weakness to pain? I figured that if I don't get hit...I won't feel any pain...*lands a decisive strike on Rody* Rody: Blllarghh!!! This is a practice match...you can't...kill me... Benedict: ...Hrmph...I shall take your sword arm then... Rody: Nooo...wait...I specialise in lances... Benedict: Sometimes...it really does pay off to be nasty. 8] Later that day... Luke: I totally could've defeated ya mate. I had weapon triangle advantage Benedict: Yeah right, as if you had a chance. I was on a fort. I gals me that you could even touch me. Don't they build proper TALL forts around here? Must be why the Aritians lost their nation so early in the war...and why it was so easy to retake it. No defensive value these...forts. Luke: When I close my eyes...I hear your sissy scream of terror... Benedict: When I close my eyes...I hear my triumphant roar almost...ALMOST drown out your monolithic fall upon the slopes of defeat. Luke: You know what? I think I like the way you think. Benedict: Cheers to that. Luke: Cheers mate. And so... camaraderie was forged. What actually happened... I sent both Benedict and Ryan to their respective fort's...expecting Luke to attack the non-countering archer. Boy was I proven wrong...but that move allowed me to land more hits in faster. Then I moved Benedict down the the forest as soon as Rody appeared, leaving Ryan in the fort. Rody missed and Benedict finished him off during Player Phase. Rothene
Remainder of the Prologue(I really can't be bothered to post them all one by one...) Story... Jagen: Excellent work Benedict, I saw you make good use of the terrain for battle. That's a sign of tactical prowess. Benedict: ...you mean common sense... Jagen: Well, for your performance, you are now assigned to go to the palace to formally join the Blue Army. Now go to Cain and receive your next mission. Benedict: Next mission? I thought I was accepted. Jagen: Yes, but this will the the last test of sorts. At the entrance... Cain: Greetings newcomer. I am... Benedict: The mighty Cain, third most favoured cavalier of Marth in the previous war, probably higher up if Frey had sacrificed himself to act as a decoy instead and because MATISE does not exist here. Cain: Err...right...Some how I feel insulted. Well, you sound like a knowledgeable fellow anyway. Benedict: I am, I was raised in a church, I know how to read and write, something few can do. And I spend my time reading musty old tomes on duplicity. Cain: That er...sounds fun...duplicity, sounds like a noble word. Benedict: Yes it is. So what's my mission? Cain: Ah, right, well that would be to escort Princess Shiida to the palace through these thick forest. Benedict: Looks like a good place to get ambushed. Cain: Yes, there are news of bandit activity around here, do clear them up as you pass through. I have a lot of faith in your capabilities according to Jagen. Benedict: I feel hono...wait bandits? These ground are in the heart of the capital! How can there be bandits?! Cain: Although I remain skeptic of whatever he says these days, the man's no longer sane enough to even be part of our army... Benedict: are you even listening? And so... Shiida: Hey there! *comes swooping in from the sky* Benedict: Gyaaaah! Ambush, stay back! *swings axe around aimlessly* Shiida: Hmm...with courage of liquid variety...I don't see how Jagen can claim you're as heroic as Marth. Benedict: I think it has something to do with my matching hair and armour colour... Shiida: Right...this is proof that the old man's getting senile. Benedict: sorry to disappoint you. Shiida: Well, we might be facing some bandits along the way so prepare yourself, I'll strike them from the back. Benedict: Oooh, back stabbing, I like that. Shiida: This guy's creepy... Katarina: Getting comfortable around the target's betrothed? Benedict: Huh? What part of a person screaming in fear at first sight shows his comfort? Katarina: I don't know, the way she looked at you just now... Benedict: I heard her call me a creep...I have good ears you know. Katarina: Wait, do you hear that? Benedict: Yes I do! Benedict: looks like an ambush...of two man. Katarina: You reckon those are the bandits? Benedict: Sure they are, look, they're even armed with the same wooden weapons as us. Simple fighting later... Shiida: Prepare yourself Benedict! Show me proof that you are worthy to lead Marth's personal army! Benedict: What? Hey wait I thought you were on our side?! And that's a real lance! Shiida: Idiot, this is a wooden lance, can't you tell? Benedict: But all lances are made of WOOD. That ones too sharp to be a prop! Luke: Don't worry mate! I got your back covered! Shiida: Wait...no, what...kyaaahhhh!!! Shiida: Yeesh, if you wanted to kill, you should have used a REAL sword. Luke: No way, I don't want to get thrown into prison or executed. Shiida: Wise, I was supposed to test his capabilities. Benedict: So, do I pass? Shiida: Yes, Jagen has plans of you replacing the old tactician from the previous war, Malledus. So you not only have to be a real fighter, you need to be...erm...cunning. Benedict: Cunning, that I can do. Out of nowhere... Jagen: Splendidly done, you routed the bandits and managed to bring down Shiida! Benedict: Yes...all two of those bandits who did not even know how to hold onto their weapons...and I thought I sucked in combat. Jagen: How ever did you do it? Benedict: Sigh...Sir, I know the right prayers that make people fear for their immortal soul if they were to strike a holy man. Jagen: You're a priest? Benedict: I was trained by one sir. She thought us of the merciful trust in cold steel between ribs. Jagen: Sounds like a nice church. And speaking of which, the Lady Elice wishes to speak to you at the treasury. On the way to the palace... Katarina: This might be dangerous. We all know Marth's just the hand that does the bidding of the nation...Elice, his sister is the one who guides him. Benedict: Elice...Eremiya...they're all female bishops in control of people's lives. Relax Katarina, we've grown up under Eremiya, I'm sure Elice will be the same...maybe nicer. Katarina: Just becareful, she's probably the real power behind the throne. At the palace... Benedict: Ah...the proof that I have found the treasury...look at all the gold! Elice: Admiring the war funds? Benedict: Alp...hrm...Private Benedict, humbling reporting for duty your highness... Elice: I see, you look timid. I wonder if you are truly tactician material. Unless i approve of you, Jagen's thoughts can go sink in the Dark Dragon's maw. Benedict: Well, a tactician only needs to plan and direct...no reason to be in the frontlines where his courage would be tested. Did Malledus ever lead the charge your highness? Elice: No. I guess your courage need not be tested. You have performed well in the tests so far. There is also a matter of the church you were raised in...my reports say... Benedict: Oh gosh! I...I need to use the toilet...be back soon! *runs away* Elice: Wait...I just wanted to know the prayers your church uses... Somewhere in the palace... Katarina: You look...what's with that crazy smile on your face? How some come loose in your head? Benedict: Elice is on to us! She knows of our schemes... Katarina: Great...do we run now? And then a thought crossed his mind... Benedict: No, you gathered the assassins as I ordered? Katarina: Yes? What about them? Benedict: Good, we strike quickly and now before they can gather their wits. Elice is currently trying to confirm this fact through me. I can stall her while you set up. Katarina: Ok, hope this works... Benedict: Meet me again in the secret passages our agenst have found. Katarina: You mean the sewers... Back at the treasury... Elice: Back? You sure took long enough for me to complete my meditations. Benedict: I must CONFESS! Elice: A confession? Although I am a bishop, I really am not trained to accept confessions to ease the soul... Benedict: No...I'm here to confess that the church I was apart of raise all of us to be assassins and they intend to target Marth! I'm here to warn you of this impending doom... Elice: Why...is this some kind of jest? Benedict: No, I cannot bear betraying such a noble nation to scum like assassins. Elice: I...see...then if what you say is true, how are we to break this news and hide the fact you were part of the enemy. Benedict: So you trust me? Elice: Not really, but, you willingness to do such underhand things as sell out your team is a sign of ruthlessness and cunning. Traits Marth lacks. The child is too kind, he would need someone to be his shadow, his dark counterpart to make...tough decisions. If you accept this task, I shall spare your life. Benedict: I've always been loyal to this nation. Elice: Perhaps there is...enough sense of loyalty in you. Your actions make it hard to believe. Benedict: My loyalty may be questionable...but my honesty can be counted on. (Nay, I just serve myself) Elice: Alright, I shall claim that my spies have found out about this plot, and you are innocent. Now go warn Marth of the enemy attack, and fend it off with your knowledge of their movements. Benedict: It shall be done your highness.(knowledge of their movements...hah! I plan out their steps fool) In the sewers... Katarina: So you want us to spread out our forces and attack the enemy throne in separate pairs slowly so as to lull the enemy into a false sense of security? Benedict: Yes, make sure the assassins come in slowly so as to not overwhelm us. We need to make them to feel confident. Katarina: Right...J...I hope you are watching all this. Together, Benedict and I shall strike down Marth and complete what we started, your death shall not be in vain. At the throne room... Benedict: Prince Marth! My Liege! Marth: You stink...where have you been? Benedict: No time to explain your highness, your sister got word that there are assassins in the palace and sent me to investigate. I found their movements in the sewers and they plan to attack you right now! Marth: What? Get me Jagen now! Jagen: Yes my liege? Marth: Can we..trust him? Jagen: Yes my lord. Has a Blue unit ever betrayed us? Marth: well...we've only fought one war... Jagen: I say we trust him. He's Blue and that says a lot. Marth: Right...I don't quite like that reasoning, but I trust you. Rally the recruits and Shiida, we fight! Jagen: And the new guy plans our battles. Marth: Right... After a bout of steamrolling poorly positioned enemies... Katarina: Benedict what are you doing?! What madness is this? Benedict: So long Katarina, you've proven to be useless to me until now! Die assassins! Your schemes shall not go unpunished! *attacks Katarina* Katarina: Hurk... Then a red armoured figure steps in and places himself between Katarina and Benedict... Roro: Your schemes shall not go unpunished, this I vow traitor. We shall hound you and hunt you down like the beast you are... *whisks katarina away with him...somehow* After the battle... Shiida: Sorry about brandishing a real weapon at you earlier...You truly are capable of leading this lot. Draug: We won without taking a single casualty! Magnificent! I've never beaten such skillful assassins so easily before. It was...it was like we were in good positions and they screwed up somehow... Benedict: Yes, yes...whatever. I need to go and get some rest. Others in the room: This is all the doing of the new guy! He saved our lord! Away from the throne room... Benedict: Fools...now everything is falling to place, now I shall have an army under my control...and soon...the world. Muahahaha... What really happened... Stuff...gave Merric most of the boss kills, placed Shiida in front of hunters and watch them miss for the lulz and Wry's scored Ski/Spd/Luk! Prologue NM is really nothing note worthy...TO THE REAL STORY!
Celice
What emulator are you using? All your colors are faded. No$GBA commonly did this, and there's an option to turn off the feature. If you don't, none of your colors are gonna appear to be vivid... :(
