Elieson
Lord. Wolf beil. Super late promotion. Just a few things to describe him. My rating, 7/10. Disclaimer: all ratings should be based on the assumption that the game is being played on HHM. Also, unit rating is based on availability starting at their first available playable chapter. whase
my rating 8/10 even though he promotes quite late, he will become a powerful unit when trained. and there's still plenty of chapters for him to grow. he is also the only unit to use Armads. even though he has a somewhat shaky start, twice. he will usually be your most reliable combat unit. plus he's forced, that's got to count for something
MacLovin
9/10 only speed screwage and late prmotion+low move stop him. Along with having a fatass amount of con:a mixed blessing
Thor Odinson
Pros: Durability, Wolf Beil is amaze, good stats overall Cons: What is movement, superlate promotion, 15 con promoted means not being able to be carried by paladins and most fliers. Overall, 7/10.
eclipse
9/10 - Even with his awful Speed, it's enough to double the more annoying things (hello armors) - Wolf Beil is pretty accurate for an axe - He can take quite a physical beating before going down - He laughs at Armorslayers - He supports Eliwood really fast, and it's a defensive one, which means he can take all the more punishment - Stupid late promotion is why he isn't a
MacLovin
Not to mention His Oswin support. And Oswin can follow just right behind him when promoted. Yeah, Not to mention Partial weapon triangle control after promotion.
zahlman
His late promotion, giving him a badly needed +5 Res, comes right after the HHM chapter that's packed to the brim with fast Valkyries and a handful of super-powerful Druids with annoying status staves. He's pretty much guaranteed to be lv 20 by this point, but that still makes only 36hp/5res. Keeping him alive on that map makes him a liability (granted, not as much of a liability as some other units, but you're forced to deploy Hector whereas the other slots can be filled with prepromotes who can handle themselves better), and if it weren't for Vaida's cohort, he'd barely be an asset. HHM seems designed to troll Hector in a couple of ways. Archers get replaced with mages in a lot of places, and his Res growth is worse than Eliwood's or Lyn's (they all have a base of 0, but Eliwood only gets +3 from promotion) or even Oswin's FFS. Early maps, meanwhile, have a bunch of weak peggies that he often can't quite OHKO and that will fly away to hard-to-reach places if you aren't careful. Oh, and the Wolf Beil, pwnsome as it is, has only 30 uses vs 40 for Rapier and 45 for Mani Katti, which is a troll considering how many more viable targets it will have. He's incredible against Wyverns, but he might have capped level by the time you actually get a map with lots of them (Ch26). The extra speed he has vs Oswin will probably make the difference between doubling and not doubling for a fair number of the wyverns in the game (which take 3AS loss from Steel and aren't generally particularly fast units). But on Ch 26 you don't really need to take out the wyverns quickly; you just need to distract them and keep them away from the middle. tl;dr he's kinda like a faster Oswin with +1 Mov (which is still not high Mov) who starts at lv 1 with an effective weapon (two categories of effectiveness, at that). I'm going to stick with 7/10. I really think his disadvantages are more important than the people giving 8s and 9s make them out to be. OTOH he's durable, has lots of easy opportunities to gain exp, and you're pretty much forced to use him for a bunch of stuff (not even counting the whole throne-seizing thing). eclipse
I don't think basing him off of Cog of Destiny is great, either.
Parrhesia
Great stats, but it's all about managing to use them. Wolf Beil's general superbness balances out his terrible promotion time. I'd say 8/10, overall.
Smiley Jim
I'm not going to lie, Hector is a fairly useful unit. His biggest advantages over Lyn and Eli is his remarkable physical durability. 19HP/8def at base is already getting 3HKO'd by the strongest non-boss enemies in Ch11-13 and he is usually 4-5HKO'd, and he has 90HP/50def for growths, giving him 36HP/18def at 20/0, and 56HP/28def at 20/20. He also hits hard too, with 7 str at base and a 60% growth and a 30 cap, which he reaches at 20/20. And the guy uses axes, further cementing his atk lead over Eli and Lyn. Also, Wolf Beil. It only has 30 uses to Lyn's Mani Katti's 45 uses, but it has 10 might(20 eff)and doesn't face WTD from its effective targets, though you probably shouldn't use it if you can 2HKO something with an iron axe. Oh, and not having armorslayer/hammer weaknesses before promotion helps, not like it matters since effective bonus is only doubled in this game. However, even the game's best lord isn't without his flaws. The first one is his bad hit. Hector only has 4 base skill which gives him only 84 hit with an iron axe/Wolf Beil and 69 hit with a hand axe. While he has a 45% skill growth to get him out of this hole, it kinda hurts him earlygame when he has ~55-60 hit on most things with a hand axe. His speed can also be an issue, since he starts with a so-so 5 base and a 35% growth, giving him 12 speed at 20/0, which amazingly enough doubles things in the midgame. What really kills his rating, however, is his late promotion. While I can get Lyn promoted in Chapter 26 using the first HS(and sell the second HS for scrap because Eli sucks), Hector has to wait until after fucking Cog to finally promote, making his promoted game almost Roy-like(more Leaf-like, but that's beside the point), at which point 15 AS is not impressive, and his 15 con means that paladins and most fliers cannot carry his fat ass(Heath, Flo, Wrath, Eli, and Pris can carry him.) Here's his rating:
Raven
I like the guy. Reasons have already been stated, so I'm not gonna waste my time here. Great start, high defense and offense, tanky, kills most bosses easily, but... Late promotion, movement issues once promoted, needs more skill... Raven's rating: 85%
Florete
7/10. A solid "good," but no better. Bad mobility and average/mediocre Spd bring down what is otherwise a pretty statistically sound unit. Wolf Beil and being forced into every map is pretty cool. Elieson
as a side note, in high efficiency run hector should not bee killing most bosses, which is unfortunate. Although that hurts his extreme usefuless, it helps to keep his preferred axe around.
General Horace
He's pretty awesome early and midgame, but even with his promotion, his unfourtunate con and movement mean he's often left behind. 7/
zahlman
I don't think basing him off of Cog of Destiny is great, either. I didn't mean to say that he needs to be taken down a couple notches just because he has one terrible chapter. By that standard, Marcus would have to be taken down a couple of notches in HHM because you can't use him at all in Ch 11, and that's just silly. But it's something he has to deal with, and it's kinda thematic of the difficulties and annoyances he faces specifically in HHM.
Mekkah
Not to mention His Oswin support. And Oswin can follow just right behind him when promoted. Yeah, Not to mention Partial weapon triangle control after promotion. His Oswin support doesn't give him anything he needs, just more durability. Swords don't give him anything either. 7/10 for reasons mentioned. He's great for casual players, and a lifesaver for draft teams that don't have enough earlygame power. Vorena
I'll settle with a 7 out of 10. He is very useful for the first half of the game. But once you get to chapter 23 (desert), Hectors usefulness takes a steep dive.
riariadne
Which mode is this for? It matters for him since he can promote significantly earlier in Eliwood mode than in his own, which helps a lot for how useful he is. He also gets a lot more freedom to do things without costing turns on Eliwood route (since doesn't have to head fro throne in seize maps), which is a big deal. 7/10 on his own mode, 8/10 on Eliwood's. Junkhead
9/10 only speed screwage and late prmotion+low move stop him. Along with having a fatass amount of con:a mixed blessing That's alot, honestly. Not really worth a 9. If Hector's a 9, does that mean Marcus is a 10.5? And his Mov isn't low, it's average, which isn't bad. I give him an 8 because his offense is pretty great, 1HKO'ing Cavaliers early and 1RKO'ing Knight and Loldiers while 2HKO'ing everything else. His durability turns great quickly and his only problem is Spd and a late promotion.
riariadne
And his Mov isn't low, it's average, which isn't bad. Hector doesn't get any move upon promotion. His move is lower than average. There's also the factor that his move will be lower than everyone else when they're promoted.
Junkhead
When they're promoted. At the start, it's just average. So it's average and then low. ;o
riariadne
Which is overall below average.
Junkhead
No, not really. Hector promotes really late, meaning he spends more time with average Mov than low Mov.
