I like it when I go to people's twitters that I've never ever communicated with or seen before and have been blocked from being on a block list :^)

Wait, is this still from the-

I can understand that but this was a wide ban because I had gammergoober content on my twitter and thus was branded undesirable - it's not like I was going to argue with them.

I KNEW IT

Wait, what, how? They got me blocked, but we're on the same list. : (

gamergater lol

I posted some effortposts but it became evident that there was very few people open to changing their opinion even somewhat on either side.

I also was accused of being a thief for using an archive site to link websites that I did not want to support

I will admit that I probably didn't conduct myself in the best way but I also didn't go around calling people terrorists and thieves

Man, this couple of posts has taken me on a nostalgia trip.

The whole ordeal is quite funny in retrospect.

I guess the thing I learned from it the most is just how toxic internet discussion can be.

There were some nice people though. Now I wonder how icze4r is doing...

it immediately put me in the sjw expansion after, which was kind of weird

Parts of the game's writing attracted controversy, with Eurogamer's Robert Purchese reporting that criticism focused on two scenes perceived as pushing a political agenda. The first is the character Minsc's quip, "Really, it's about ethics in heroic adventuring", a reference to the Gamergate controversy. The second is an optional dialogue tree in which the cleric Mizhena mentions that she was raised as a boy, indicating that she is a trans woman.[9] Colin Campbell of Polygon reported that writer Amber Scott faced online harassment and insults, and that the game's Steam and GOG pages were bombarded with complaints that the transgender reference constituted "political correctness," "LGBT tokenism" and "SJW pandering."[10] Scott said she wanted to address elements in the original Baldur's Gate that she considered sexist, including its depictions of Safana as a "sex object" and Jaheira as a "nagging wife" played for comedy.[11] She had previously commented: "I get to make decisions about who I write about and why. I don't like writing about straight/white/cis people all the time. It's not reflective of the real world, it sets up s/w/c as the 'normal' baseline from which 'other' characters must be added, and it's boring."[12]

Five days after the expansion's release, Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat reported that 142 people had posted negative user reviews on Metacritic, the vast majority giving a score of "zero", and suggested that a mob of gamers were attempting to punish the expansion for adding diversity.[13] Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms game world in which the Baldur's Gate series takes place, defended the inclusion of a transgender character, writing, "If it's not for you, that's fine. I hate wearing certain shades of yellow. But I don't scream and yell at someone I see wearing those shades of yellow, and call them names, and threaten things. My right to dislike yellow applies to me; it doesn't extend to others."[10]

In a 6 April 2016 post discussing both technical and content issues, Beamdog announced they would be removing the Gamergate joke and expanding Mizhena's story, saying in part, "In retrospect, it would have been better served if we had introduced a transgender character with more development."[14] Paul Tumburro of CraveOnline termed this as "spineless and disappointing" stating that Beamdog's founder Trent Oster refused to acknowledge the transphobic criticisms leveled at the game.[15]

In a world where transmutation magic and the Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity exists, it's kinda weird to not utilize that for trans individuals.  I haven't played to new expansion yet.  I've meant to, I just have been kinda busy with kids and non-turned based games are hard to play.

They're kinda sending mixed messages, though, since the only lesbian option they give you is an evil vampire and the bi option is evil, too.

the romance options aren't even satisfying in games like baldur's gate to begin with IMO - may as well play dragon age or something for that

at least the exclusive gay option is neutral good :^)

I thought Viconia's romance was fulfilling, turning her away from being evil.

Amomen was okayish, depending on whether you tell him to listen to his dad or not, but I really wish they had given females more options.

Aerie kinda annoyed me.

Jaheira was a bit squickish, considering Khalid's body wasn't even cold before you can start romancing her.  If it weren't for that, it wouldn't be so bad.

Viconia was about the only one I could be interested in at all, and its sad because I think her BG1 portrait was so much better (as well as Edwin's) - actually put me off because I'm fickle

I feel doubly sorry for Khalid with how most people who play the original hate Khalid because of his voice, stuttering, cowardly demeanour and how he's a sub-par fighter and frontliner as well, the poor guy

he's actually pretty good as an archer moreso than a melee fighter, but still gets beaten handily by Coran for good parties who is cheating because he has both a 20 dexterity which he wouldn't feasibly be able to have without having a dexterity boost we don't know about and 3 points in longbows which is impossible for a multiclass like he is - and he has thief utility unlike Khalid as well

being Khalid is suffering

I actually kinda like Viconia's BG2 portrait, but I agree with you on Edwin's.  His BG2 portrait makes it look like he's gained 80 pounds.
