Konami has just announced that they will be dissolving Hudson Soft on 1st March, bringing to an end a company that's become beloved by gamers over the years for such unforgettable contributions to gaming as the PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 systems and the ever-popular Bomberman and Star Soldier series.

Hopefully the games and series Hudson is known for continue to be made under the Konami flagship. Bomberman has actually had some legitimately fun and interesting games in its life cycle, across the SNES, N64, and even GBA. They also were the perpetrators of the Mario Party series, GameBoy Wars ew, and many other games.

But if it's not taken under Konami's title... at least we won't have any more shitty Mario Party games. Only the first two were pretty fun, then the third sorta dribbled, and after that... it was just stale. I swear, in one of the GameCube ones, all the boards were exactly the same except for how they looked :(

You do know that there's a Mario Party 9 being made, right?

Yeah, and it's no longer being done by Hudson. Which means the death of a now-shitty series. Hopefully the new developer can turn it into something fun and fresh again. Although, the only real game I've seen them do is Wii Party. And I don't know how I feel about that. Most of their games (that I can tell) seem pretty... mellow. Average games, nothing spectacular.

This is really disappointing, considering all of the franchises Hudson Soft made (like Adventure Island and Bomberman. Especially Bomberman). At the very least, I hope their franchises will live on.

Wow, that kinda sucks. I really enjoyed playing Bomberman 5 for the SNES.

Agreed. Super Bomberman 5 is my favourite SNES game, as well as my favourite Bomberman game.
