ResidentOzo
I'm re-introducing myself into FE gaming and spriting. So here, I'll post a majority of my newer works. Before I go onto my hacks, I would liek to benefit in soem practice in the sprites and some sheets. So here we are. Link (LoZ FE hack) Dante (DMC) Uploaded with ImageShack.usFeel free to make some suggestions, though. I may or may not get to them.
eCut
The is nice! I like it. :) the only thing I am meh about is the sword isn't symmetrical on both sides of the blade and the top of the boots seem a bit too thick. If you do Dante then you should do Vergal too. Oh, and just for future reference, using something like imageshack of photobucket is better than the attachment thingy. :p
ResidentOzo
I agree with you. I've been trying to get the angle right. I fixed the size, though. I'll update it later. Thanks. As far as the uploading goes. I do/did use imageshack. Yeah, maybe. I'll see when I get around to it. Thanks again.
eCut
My bad, I assumed because of the black box that was around it. :P To fix the angle, just shave off the top layer of pixels on the sword or added another row pixels on the back end of the sword. A pretty easy fix. :)
ResidentOzo
Oh alright. Yea I forgot I had that layer with he black box on there. I've realized I have some room to experiment with the style and slightly modify it, I tried that with the Dante. Not too pleased with it. But I know that now I have more room for originality, and I will completely remake the Link sprite. Thanks for the advice.
ResidentOzo
Bump (I believe) How do you guys make your transparent animations (.gif) of your FE sprites?
Thor Odinson
I use Photoshop CS4 (CS2 and above has animating capabilities IIRC) since that's where I do everything, but there's probably some free programs just for animating and stuff, so you can probably google around for that. If you happened to have an earlier version of PS, Imageready should be where animations are done. Dunno if Gimp can animate, though.
Serene Flight
Yup, you can animate with GIMP. And transparency... just hide/delete layer with that damn evil background, if there's one (it's easier to work with light background tho).
ResidentOzo
Yea, I have heard people talk of animating with GIMP before. Thanks for the confirmations. Now I just have to find some tutorials. Thanks
ResidentOzo
I have another question if you don't mind. When dealing with hexing, are there any size requirements for the sprites? As in replacing the original character classes with new ones.
Jubby
You run into a lot less problems if you increase the index and use an unused slot. Using a slot originally used by a character will usually work, but sometimes causes others around it to glitch. Especially if animations share frames or are linked somehow, i.e. if you replace a sword animation but not the weaponless one to go with that class.... You could always test it first and if it doesn't work, use an unused slot. And that's FEditor, not hex editing.
