FE9 (Difficult Realism)

Recommended Posts

tl;dr doing a semi-casual Difficult run of PoR. No save? No problem! *leaves Wii on for a month*

First chapter(s) to come shortly...

Also, recently found out that I am playing in Realism Mode; no Memory Card means that a death is a death and a Game Over kills the run. Oh boy...

---

I made it through to Chapter 7 the first time around, losing Boyd, then Ike in quick succession. I'm making another go at it, though.

If you've been following this thread, you know the rules: I can do whatever the hell I like, but there is no reset button. Whoever dies dies, and a Game Over means a Game Freaking Over.

---

Gyarr, fack dis shit. I might try this again, but for now, I'mma just do a Normal unlogged run; my current progress is at the bottom for anyone who cares, and I'll still be in Realism.

Prologue:

Yay, I get to beat up on my best friend and father. Oh... kay...?

I beat up on Boyd, I beat up on Greil. Not an interesting chapter; +HP/Str/Mag/Skl/Def LU wasn't bad, though.

Chapter 1

The big guns come in: Boyd, Titania, and Oscar. Ike gets a few extra swords, wee.

Bull rush through the north. Boyd and Oscar clear the path (soaking up a passable amount of EXP), Titania kicks the boss's ass and grabs the Seraph Robe and Steel Sword, Ike dents a few bandits, kills one, and seizes. Earlygame is pretty standard fare; nothing troubling my nooby ass yet. Ike and Oscar level, though.

Chapter 2

Aight, so I'm in a Rout chapter...delightful. Gotta go save Mist and all that jazz, but do we have to kill every single one of them? I mean, I know we're mercenaries, but... jeez. Also, we gots a healer (fuk yeah).

Oscar goes off to the northwest and slaughters everything he sees; Ike, Boyd, and Rhys go East in the hopes of making the Oscarstorm a little less work (and getting a bit of EXP, heh). Boyd levels early in the chapter, getting... HP, Luck, and Defense? Odd.

In other news, I've recently realized that Ike has "I'm a Lord" painted on his chest; everything wants to attack him. I'm feeding Boyd a few kills since Ike is a dodge/death machine at this point, chopping away...

Oscar levels after Turn 2, still not getting Strength (ofc, Oscar, but still). Ike just out-and-out rapes some Fighter for no reason with a crit; shit is so cash.

Titania comes in, and the assault moves a lot faster. Now we're actually headed North (yay). Also, I'm struck with an interesting predicament: Who to Robe...? I'm thinking of saving it for Marcia, but idk. I refrain from letting Titania pull off a TPK, but only because I know I can be done with the enemy forces by the end of Turn 5's Enemy Phase anyhow.

Titania ices the boss, as is her privelage and right. The "Red-Haired Demoness" strikes again !! Ike's level-up gets wtfboned (only Luck? Seriously?), but the chapter goes off without a hitch.

Also, fun fact: I cannot reset. At all. Ever. I either Game Over or keep going, and that's that. Also, insult-to-injury crit from Boyd finishes up the chapter.

Chapter 3

Ooh, boy, a boss-slaying map. Wee. I get two new units, Gatrie and Shinon; they'll be doing a butt-ton of nothing.

Also, gah, no idea who to give the Speedwing to. I'll hold onto it for a rainy day.

Shinon can dent/one-shot things, yay. Also, Gatrie... doubling things? A Knight. Who doubles. My mind has been blown. Strength affecting one's Weight penalty to AS is so won-WHOAAAAAAA IKE CRITTIN BITCHES anyway, wonky early on, useless later on for everything but Soren (grr). Also, Marcia got killed in the north... and I can't reset... fuck you Turn 1. Argh, I'll have to muscle through without her.

Ike just charges madly onward, as does the entire party. Well, except Gatrie; he mops up the back, because dat 5 Move compared to the rest of the squad is pretty lolzy. Gah, not getting much Str (and getting no Speed to boot) is getting awfully annoying... Titania, of course, continues to more or less play the game by herself, so it doesn't matter much... yet.

Also, OH CRUMBS JUST FOUND OUT THAT IF I poop in here i poop for real DIE IN HERE IT'S ALL OVER. Oh, man, shit is INTENSE now.

Titania with a Hand Axe is: A menace. Go near her, and she will rip out your brain. That is all.

Ike... I can only spoon-feed you kills for so long. This may, in fact, be the first run where I have to use the Regal Sword as a crutch. Have I mentioned that Titania is carrying this party? Because she is. She also has killed 3/4 of the bosses so far (and actually leveled up this chapter !!)

Chapter 4

All right, shit gets interesting. The question here isn't if I'm going to die, but if I'm going to lose Soren. Smart money's on me losing him, but whatever.

On an unrelated note, Titania still bosses up everything that moves. No exceptions. Soren gets fed kills.

FUCK FUCK FUCK TITANIA CHARGED OFF DIDN'T FEED IKE THE ROBE YET FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Thankfully, Shinon pulls out his MANnon and helps ease the pain. Gawd, what a dodge MACHINE. Seriously, I just let nearby units steal kills. It's not rocket science with beasts like him around.

Then again, trying to keep Rhys and Soren safe is getting a bit irritating: Turn 2, got a swarm of enemies in the general area. Rhys runs, hope for the best?

SO MANY INSULT TO INJURY CRITS. SO GODDAMN MANY.

Titania and Shinon are doing a lot more killing than they reasonably should, but BEXP is there for a reason and Titania can nearly solo anyhow.

Turn 2, finally. I wipe out most of the horde around the main party, somehow keeping everyone safe. Titania rushes in with the Hand Axe; the boss is in serious pain, obviously. A bit of worry that she'll break her Hand Axe before the boss counterattacks; no big deal, but I'm trying for a passable turncount here. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... yup. The Boss attacks before his archers, and gets finished off without a sweat. Later, Maijin.

FUCK NOBODY LEVELED TODAY. Also, Ike weapon ranks up, not that it matters.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't mention that.

Chapter 5

OK, a Defense chapter. Ike is going to eat a Robe (and Boyd a Speedwing), so they'll get some buffing to them. I have the main squad cover the entry points with Titania pulling off a bull rush. Main party struggling a bit after T1 EP, but Titania is (of course) bossing it up.

Also, Soren gains Str on his first level-up. WHAT. High hopes for him, though--here's to Soren bossing it up, heh. Titania WR+s on Axes Turn 2, bringing her to S. Ike gets MAGIC AGAIN WHAT on his next level-up, and Boyd is having a little difficulty at the end of Enemy Phase 2. Thank God for Shinon and Gatrie holding the front gates... Well, at least Boyd leveled in the process (HP/Skl/Res, whaddya know). Titania took 7 (!) DMG from the Iron Blade Myrmidons... that's, what, 17 Attack? Not shabby at that level.

Titania was having a little trouble, so I figured that I'd Vulnerary up Turn 3 and still be able to four-turn the boss with Shinon's support. In other news, the fight to hold off the Western troops goes decently; doesn't look like either Ike or Boyd are gonna bite the dust anytime soon. Ike's been using the Regal Sword as a crutch (he REALLY needs about 2 more Str at this point), and Boyd is disappointingly close to doubling things with the Speedwings; gyah 8 AS. After Titania buries her axe in the bastard, it turns out that Soren (!) gets to steal the kill. Delightful.

Soren finishes him off, and the two Archers down there are cleared out with minimal fuss. Gawwwwwwwwwwwd Oscar is so annoying early on. Boyd and Ike continue to rack up kills, not having nearly as much trouble anymore. Rhys helps a lot with that, heh. Ike's at Rgr 7, and still no signs of a Strength stat. 7? Seriously? It appears to be not far below average, but every point counts x.x

Oh, look, reinforcements. Why am I not surprised. They complicate things. Enemy Phase 4, no big deal. However, the presence of Rhys forces Ike and Boyd to turtle without any ranged weapons. Team South is cleaning up, feeding Oscar and Soren some all-too-necessary kills. Really, the southern portion of the map is just cleaning up shop and feeding kills at this point; the north, solely turtling. Gatrie levels (not that it matters), as does Titania.

I swear, every Enemy Phase brings... new surprises. Archers, extra Soldiers, you name it. However, the party is really doing quite well for itself, so I'm not too mad. In the south, some poor Provoked bastards picked a fight with Shinon. One of whom did so at range. Puedes decir "gutripped"? Still, Shinon dropped to a surprisingly-low 3 HP; gotta be more careful. He runs, the other two clean up shop downstairs (finally). It's actually a pity that Gatrie is doubling things, since I would've liked getting more kills for Oscar. Ah, well... He'll grow in time. A Jav miss from Oscar forces Titania to finish off a Soldier, so neither Oscar nor Soren gets the kill. Pfeh. Boyd levels, getting HP/Str/Spe (freakin' finally), and Ike <3 Vulneraries.

Fairly easy chapter was fairly easy; I sweated a bit in a couple of places (namely when I wasn't sure how many Myrms were around), but all's well. Sadly, I can't give you unit stats for Gatrie and Shinon; suffice it to say that the pair is alive and kicking, with Shinon at around 1.5 and Gatrie at around 10.75, with Gatrie's LU being fairly meh.

Soren 3.74	19 1 7 9 8 6 2 8

Averages note.

Ike: +5.5 HP (-1.5 w/o Robe), -1 Str, +2.8 Mag, -1 Skl, -.3 Spd, -.1 Luc, +.6 Def, -1.4 Res. All in all: Poor, but salvagable.

Titania: -.6 HP, +1.1 Str, -.5 Mag, -.2 Skl, -1 Spe, +1.1 Luc, -.8 Def, -.9 Res. All in all: About average; can't complain.

Oscar: +.9 HP, -.9 Str, -.4 Mag, Avg Skl, +1.1 Spe, +.4 Luc, -.7 Def, +.4 Res. All in all: Slightly screwed where it's important, but he can easily pull out of his funk.

Boyd: Avg HP, -.4 Str, -.2 Mag, Avg Skl, +1.2 Spe (-.8 w/o Speedwings), -.4 Luc, Avg Def, Avg Res. All in all: Decidedly average, but it was a good decision to drop the Wings on him. AS 10, here I come!

Rhys: +.95 HP, -.5 Str, +.75 Mag, -.25 Skl, -.6 Spe, Avg Luc, -.85 Def, +.65 Res. All in all: Slightly better than average, at least where it counts. Good job.

Soren: +.1 HP, +.9 Str, -.2 Mag, -.1 Skl, -.8 Spe, +.4 Luc, -.3 Def, -.1 Res. All in all: A little Speed screwed, but the early Str gain is worth it.

creeper i think the very fact that you're saying that means you missed an important detail that a little bit of critical thinking, soul searching, and reading would tip you off to. in other words, he can't restart cause he doesn't have a memory card or anything. meaning no fixed mode -_-

whoops.

I thought fixed came with the game automatically.

Anyways, Tauroneo is durable.

And has high weapon ranks and Makalov support.

And Resolve.

(Not good on him, due to high der.)

But Generals aren't so good.

Use him, if you want.

Also.

Dat Ike :XD:

Maybe he'll cap magic, and end up as a swordie version of fe5 Ronan.

Mist exists too, which means no magic swords for Ike.

Chapter 6

OK, so Shinon and Gatrie are gone. Not good. At least my other guys are still here. Boyd starts things off by ORKOing (finally) an Archer, while I pull Titania/Soren/Ike/Rhys out of the thicket and Oscar pokes a Soldier (getting only Def in his LU). Ike's Lord Target makes keeping Rhys/Soren safe a bit easier; it's still a pain in the ass.

Furthermore, why does that Poleax Axe Knight exist? It's not as if Oscar is a legitimate threat at this point; the jerk is just Titania fodder. Swarm of enemies is irritating, but seeing as most of my early units are Made of Iron, this isn't too bothersome. Soren snagging some kills, of course (I remember casual runs where I worried about him breaking his Wind tome, what?) and gets a decent T2 LU to boot. Boyd is starting to kill everything that moves, as well he should, and Ike is making the Myrm/Archer from the left less relevant. Without the Robe, Ike would be at 1 (!) HP at the end of Enemy Phase 2; yipes. Lord Target is great, but how to aboose it...

That Steel Bow Archer. 5 AS and easily two-shots Soren, fuuuuuuu. Also, dat Armor Knight. Dat Oscar-has-10-HP-and-is-carrying-Ike-atm. Passing Ike around a bit; still at Turn 5 and barely on the bridge (fuuuuuuu). Invoking some "what the hell, team" with my difficulties in finishing off this goddamn Archer, but nobody looks like a dead man yet. Boyd levels, his Spe now surpassing his Str (whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat).

Turn 6: Oscar catches up with the main party, as does Rhys; Soren goes west to finish off a fleeing archer (and prolly pick off an Armor Knight while he's at it). Oscar jumps another level, and gets an amazing LU (everything but Spe and Res); I pull Boyd back so he doesn't get slaughetered before Rhys can heal him. Oscar critshits on a myrm during enemy phase (this is how we dewott!). After some healing, Boyd and Oscar hold the bridge while Titania rushes up to the bawss. In other news, I now despise enemy archers more than ever; their stats are all-around amazing earlygame. Soren lures out that Armor Knight in the west for a bit of levelling. Titania is, of course, still carrying Ike (and may wind up fighting the boss with him on board).

Enemy phase: everything goes fairly well: Soren isn't hurt (and gets a nice level to boot), Boyd rapes a loldier, nothing much happens.

On turn 8, Titania rushes up to Halberdier guy (coolest class ever btw, no small thanks to Nephenee); she 2HKOs with Steel Axe (thank you Str blessing), so I'll be able to pull a nine-turn clear. Soren hops into a bush to finish off the Armor Knight (with an Adept Crit finisher), and Oscar/Boyd STILL can't finish off that damned Archer. I swear, I am ditching Tempest so fast... (also, both of them missed. lolwut?)

OH WAIT BISCUITS DAT PASSIVE HEAL. I guess this'll be a 10-turned map; I have a feeling that I could've done significantly better (say, somewhere around 7), but what's done is done. Soren duels an Archer to the north (dat terrain), and some random loldier tries meleeing her (and survives!)

GAH BOYD STOP MISSING THAT ARCHER. Titania finally finishes off Emil (oh yeah, we're going to Gallia, aren't we?), and the Enemy Phase is very uneventful. Boyd and Oscar grab mook kills before Titania departs (with Boyd hitting C Axes). Yes, the archer by the eastern bridge did survive, despite about seven attacks from Boyd and Oscar.

Chapter 7

Okay, another Rout chapter. Looking at this one, I'll need the full force up front: That means Oscar, Boyd, and Titania charge forward, Ike and Soren can go north and wipe out any excess units there, and hopefully we can finish this chapter quickly.

Titania kills things; this has been established as fact many times, and continues to hold true. She levels with the first fight of the chapter, getting rather decent gains (HP/Str/Skl/Spe/Def). Boyd is doubling more things than Oscar's puny 8 AS, but I'm hoping that this chapter will be a good place for all three of Boyd/Ike/Oscar to come into their own. Enemy Phase 1 was pretty vanilla, and THANK YOU MIA FOR COMING TO ME YOURSELF <3 Your bases are pretty hawt, not gonna lie.

A Thief appears. Ooh, EXP! The situation up north is a bit sticky, but Soren lands a rather necessary dodge (and a useful Adept to boot), making things a lot easier on me. Ike has to rescue Soren, and I have to divert Oscar to go help. In fact, I'm in a smidgen of trouble everywhere: Rhys is endangered to the south, and Ike isn't having fun up top. Hit one on Ike connects... Oscar wastes a Soldier with a lucky hit and gets a shitty levelup... Boyd puts a dent into another Fighter... Steel Lance Soldier hits... and, the ultimate blow. Hand Axe Fighter... MISSES!! THANK YOU, WTA! Another loldier attacks Oscar, with Oscar dealing piddling to the loldier's nothing. Boyd has put massive dents into everything near him, and now it's my turn to ATTACKU!

Mia wastes the Fighter, as was expected; Rhys Weapon Ranks up with staves as Ike retreats, dropping Soren... Oscar comes in to meatshield; thankfully, Mia will live through two Soldiers attacking her (assuming that the Archer targets Ike). Boyd wastes an archer pinned between him and Titania, and the red-haired demoness in question charges northwest to wreak havoc elsewhere. Archer targets Rhys (lol, forgot he was in range; lives, so nbd), while the loldiers, as expected, target Mia, leaving her rather battered. A Fighter in the south wastes himself against Boyd, giving the axeman a rather solid level-up. In other news, Titania is up against some Armor Knights. Taking all bets. As it turns out, one survives. (Note here: Titania has a shield, or at least appears to, in the field. Why?) Mia dodges a Jav (with little relevance).

Aight, my turn. Oscar dents the archer to the east, Cantoing up to the soldiers. Mia wipes said archer and gets healed by Rhys; Soren finishes off a Steel Lance Loldier dented by Mia not too long ago. He levels in the process, with fairly standard Soren gains. Titania wipes out the Thief while Ike stops the Javelin Soldier from attacking Rhys, and Boyd moves up to the Armor Knight to mop him up. Titania wipes one Armor Knight and heavily dents another while a Soldier pokes Ike.

HOLY SHIT A PALADIN (who also has a shield). Petrine, Lance Paladin and General of Daein's Four Riders. Thank you, walking know-it-all Soren. Also, Fire lance; perhaps I should have Rhys wall her??

OOH, IT'S DAD! AND GATRIE! AND SHINON! Greil, magnificent bastard he, tricks Petrine into following him (she clearly hasn't played FE, nor is she genre savvy, nor has she heard of WTA). Ike got a free 20-25 moves just to talk with his dad, I guess. OH, AND REINFORCEMENTS EVERYWHERE. Soren wipes the Javelin bastard (taking a rather nasty hit in the process). Mia and Ike move forward, while Titania pulls back to wipe out some reinforcements. Shinon and Boyd are doing their fair share, of course; they wipe an archer (note the recurring trend of archers being badass) to let Boyd do some killing of his own without fear of reprisals. Well, strike that--he risked death if he was to randomly attack, so he moves a bit more cautiously. Ike steps forward to end my phase.

Heheh, people attacking Titania. These folks don't know a Jeigan when they see her, do they. Shinon takes some fire from the Northern reinforcements, but rofl Shinon dying, and rofl Shinon's death mattering at this point. Ike finishes off an Armor Knight, levelling in the process. Str, Def, Spe, and HP. I needed those. Shinon retreats into the treasure room, letting Gatrie do some tanking outside... and tank he does. Oscar pulls an Armorslayer from a chest, and the eastern party (finally) starts converging with the southern/western one. Titania, badass that she is, had a bit of business to take care of, but she catches up quickly with her 9 Mov. Ike bravely dashes forward (boss that he is), and the rest of the eastern party follows at a safer distance.

Enemy phase: Gatrie and Ike do some wholesale killing up north, with Titania wiping out a soldier down south. Well, to amend that: I wouldn't call what Gatrie does "killing", but he sure is good at it. Thank you, slab of armor. Ike wipes out a Priest, while the rest of East Party charges up. A little bit of looking through site data reveals that I don't need anything in the chests, so Shinon/Boyd are free to attack, and attack they do. Boyd finally gets to pull out his Hammer; yay! Gatrie nearly gets a kill, but levels anyhow. OH BALLS BOYD DON'T DIE.

OK, so the boss is attacking Ike. He can live through it. He takes a hit from an Armor Knight, too, and double *chink*s there. Two Armor Knights converge on Boyd. The first hits, and the second... strikes true. Boyd has died. Rest in peace, servant of Greil. Naturally, he gets revenged, but still... it hurts.

To the north, Soren puts a rather large dent into the Armor Knight guarding the boss, and Titania takes the bastard down for good. OH GOD NO DON'T KILL IKE.

Ike... has died. I have lost. A foolish play endangered his life, and my run has ended.

The Regal Sword is buried, tip-first, in the ground; it is left here, as are each of the heroes' weapons, as a reminder to any fools who would stand in the way of his quest to conquer Tellius.

Chapter 1

You all know how this goes. Boyd goes off and fights a Fighter to the left; Ike and Oscar head up the front; Titania swoops in and kills the boss. Not much to say about this chapter, really. We all know who gets the kills, carries the party, and has the ability to solo most combat encounters. Some pseudo-intelligent play allowed me to visit both houses and kill all but one enemy in three turns, all with minimal risk. Not bad.

Chapter 2

Turn 1

Player Phase

OK, so, I have Rhys now. Oscar goes north, to rape, pillage, and suchlike. Because that's what we're here to do, right...?

Ike and Boyd (accompanied by Rhys) go east. They're softening up the ground for a Titania/Oscar rampage later. Haven't gotten around to giving Ike the Robe yet. Boyd levels; good level (albeit one without Str). Rhys heals Ike up from denting the bandit that Boyd kills.

Enemy Phase

Fighter attacks Ike, denting himself and letting Ike level (+HP/Str/Skl/Lck/Res). Bandit moves forward without attacking.

The Fighter that Oscar dented earlier suidcides, leveling him (Str/Skl/Spe). A myrm follows in his footsteps, doing 1 DMG in exchange for 2/3 of his HP. The other Fighter is a bit bothersome, but Oscar puts a huge dent in him and lives, so no big deal. A Fighter from the north comes down a few squares.

Turn 2

Player Phase

Oscar moves back six squares; enough to finish the opponents from the corner and enough to let Rhys heal him. Boyd one-rounds the Bandit (what have you been eating?), and Ike finishes off the Fighter that attacked him earlier. Nothing to be seen here, folks.

Enemy Phase:

As predicted, the myrmidon comes on down, and pokes Oscar... Oscar's poke does a smidgen more damage. Vulnerary get. The Fighter misses and faces a similar fate. That Northern Fighter attacks Ike, misses... then gets critted on the second blow. Perfection. A bandit comes within striking distance as "TIT"ANIA enters the field (since she's the only female on our roster, heh. And the only one with boobs until what, C10 or so?).

Turn 3:

Player Phase

Oscar heads on over to Ike; he passes of the Robe, takes two spare swords off his hands, and gives him the Steel Sword. Rhys heals Ike for a single HP. Ike proceeds to put a dent in the bandit, whom Boyd ravages immediately afterwards. Titania rushes up (and doesn't even have time to give Ike a stern talking-to!).

Enemy Phase:

A... Fighter walks forwards. What a momentous turn.

Turn 4:

Player Phase

Rhys heals Boyd up before he heads back into battle. Oscar rushes up, putting a mighty dent into the Fighter. Well, I say "mighty", but it was only 10 HP... damn you misses. Boyd still manages to tear him a structurally superfluous new backside without taking any damage, so no harm, no foul. Ike eats the Robe as he moves forward, and Titania decimates one of the bandits. Ike advanced just a bit too far, but I reckon my luck will hold out. Besides, dying on chapter 4 would be... well, pathetic.

Enemy Phase:

Titania bodyblocked a bandit, who proceeds to suicide himself into her. A Myrmidon approaches Ike and trades blows; "whee". Due to that, Ikanau slams himself into Titania, who crits and kills him. Damn... Ike would've liked that kill. Or Boyd. Or Oscar.

Turn 5:

Player Phase

Boyd munches the Speedwings, and Oscar wipes the remaining mook. Nothing to see here.

Chapter 3

Aight. This is going to be real simple: I make sure I get the Elixir. Titania rushes in and wipes about 75% of the map. I try to let Ike get a kill or two. Okeydokey, let's roll. Oh, also, gotta talk to Marcia. That's important too.

Turn 1:

Player Phase

Gatrie and Shinon take down a Pirate guarding the Elixir house without difficulty. Titania rushes in and beats down a mook; the ramp is a lot more open now. Ike rushes up; buffed by the Robe, he can take anybody at this point.

Enemy Phase

First, an archer pings Ike. Then, a Handaxe Fighter and Pirate attack Marcia; both miss. A Fighter in the southeast is Provoked into hitting Shinon, doing moderate damage; ditto for a myrmidon at the port. A Bandit attacks Ike with... minimal success. Another bandit moves from the southwest to the southeast as Marcia puts a huge dent in a Myrm. Finally, Marcia pokes a Bandit in melee, but takes a hit in return.

Other Phase

Marcia does nothing. Gyah, incompetent wench.

Turn 2:

Player Phase

Titania takes down the Fighter holding the droppable Hand Axe, yay. Ike heads onto the ramp, using (idk if they ingest it, speed-apply it to their wounds, or what) a Vulnerary en route. Shinon gets the Elixir from Nasir, while Gatries sits next to Shinon in the hopes of getting a little action during the Enemy Phase.

Enemy Phase

The Myrm that Marcia dented runs; the Hand Axe Pirate makes a rather lousy attempt at putting a dent in Ike at range. The Archer, however, scores a hit, as does the Myrmidon on Shinon. Gatrie laughs at the attack from a Fighter, but a bandit attack on Ike puts a dent in both of them. He's attacked from up top too, letting him level (Str/Res). The bandit down south awkwardly goes closer to Shinon/Gatrie...

Other Phase

Marcia sits on her ass.

Turn 3:

Player Phase

Gatrie finishes the Fighter that scratchet him earlier, and Shinon ices the myrmidon with a quick one-CRIT from his Steel Bow. Titania takes a Hand Axe to a bandit on the ramp, allowing Ike to push a little bit farther ahead.

Enemy Phase

The foe Myrm continues to run, the Bandit makes a fail Hand Axe attack, and Havetti/Titania get in a Hand Axe fight; guess who fares better. Titania puts a massive dent in some random mook, then an archer pokes Ike. The poor, hopeless bastard down by Shinon slashes at him to no avail, as a Myrmidon manages to survive a suicidal attack on Titania. Ike finally finishes off the bandit that he'd been fighting since the first turn (what a bulky guy).

Other Phase

You guessed it.

Turn 4:

Player Phase

Titania smokes the mook on the ramp, letting Ike talk to Marcia. A bit of clever play allows Ike to talk to Marcia without getting lolmobbed, and Gatrie wipes out the poor schmuck that was attacking Shinon. Shinon waltzes up, not that it matters.

Enemy Phase

Archer poke on Ike, Havetti toss at Ike nearly kills, mook Hand Axe nearly hurts Titania, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand a Myrmidon kills Ike.

Fuk dis shit; I'm doing Normal Mode, and not bothering logging. Sorry, folks, but this is getting frustrating, and I have no reason to suspect I won't continue to fail.

I think the one thing that really makes this topic (and the various runs within it) entertaining is the fact that you ARE logging the events that happened. If all we are seeing is the final stats and how many turns then why even bother making a topic about it? You could just get into the chatbox and say "And one time I did a realism run on PoR and finished it in like 320 turns with a slightly screwed Ike and like 7 people dead" and it would be the exact same. Seriously seeing your trials, failures and successes in detail is what makes this topic interesting in my opinion. If you are having so many problems maybe you should try using less aggressive tactics and rely more heavily on healing and choke points, it might help. Or treating Ike with a bit more care, like letting him have about the same exposure as say Soren did? Obviously this is up to you in the end, but it would be a real shame to see this topic end up as little more than a single post stating final averages and turns.

Well, I plan on making another go at Difficult; however I want to succeed a Normal run first. Rest assured that, when this topic revives, it will be highly entertaining.

LET'S KICK-START THIS THING.

I'm taking another go, now that I've beaten NM and remembered the game somewhat.

Prologue: Mercenaries

Yeah, yeah, cutscene opening and whatnot. We all know how that goes.

The strategy for this chapter is about as straightforward as it can get: rush Boyd, heal, duel Greil. GG. HP/Str/Skl/Lck level-up; not bad, I guess.

4/4
