【東方】 Touhou Draft, Take Two

Another Touhou draft, now hopefully with actual competition!

Basic layout of the ruleset blatantly stolen copied from Naglfar and modified to my liking.

Rules:

1. This draft is for 4 players.

2. All the Windows games will be played, except for PoFV and the ones that aren't integers. That's seven games.

3. Only one character/team/shot/whatever the hell is going on may be drafted per game. Only teams will be picked in IN, but you can then use one of the characters of your team individually if you wish to.

4. No cheating. You can abuse glitches and safespots if that's your thing, but MarisaB is banned for MoF because the Lv3 laser glitch is too OP.

5. Practice all you like, but all replays presented are to be recorded during the correct round. No here's-one-I-prepared-earlier.

6. Normal mode, default settings. You can chicken out on one game of your choice and clear it on Easy Modo, and it'll count. No more than that, though.

Procedure:

1. Snake-style drafting, the kind we all know and love. Take your pick from the entire pool, but after choosing from one game you obviously can't choose another from the same game.

2. The games will be played in chronological order, with each player using what they drafted for each game. I want this to be quick, so I'm leaning towards alloting 1-3 days for the completion of each round. Opinions would be appreciated.

3. After attaining a satisfactory score, players will send me a replay as evidence (preferably by linking to it via PM). I will then release these replays at the end of the round and declare the scores and rankings. You can submit as many improved runs as you like before the deadline, the best one will count. You can upload your replays here. Even though you theoretically could, please don't watch others' replays before the end of each round.

Scoring:

1. The primary source of points is obtaining the highest score. The player who scores highest will get seven points, second place is four, third place is two. The lowest score doesn't get any points.

2. Beating the game gets you a flat three point bonus, even if you were playing on Easy.

(For your convenience: this results in 10/7/5/3 points respectively when the game is beaten, and 7/4/2/0 when it isn't.)

I'll have time, oh yes, I will... I'm leaning towards 2 day rounds. By the way, why not allow playing Easy whenever you like? It nets so little points that it can't compete well against any Normal clears, after all, right? What's your reasoning?

I don't want to watch too many Easy Modo replays

I intended it to be some sort of joker to allow you to at least clear a problem game that you really have trouble with while keeping the actual competition on Normal. Easy does indeed net you less points than Normal if you're equally good on both, but not only is the difference marginal in some games, you also have to take into account that you'll probably die less on Easy (if you're not equally good at both) and thus get a higher game clear bonus (which is a very big chunk of points in itself in most games). Point in case, my highest score in IN is on Easy Modo (around 1.35 billion).

That said, if all players want Easy to be available for every game, I'll allow it for every game. I just wanted to make the competition more interesting, as I find Normal mode replays much more entertaining and interesting to watch.

That makes sense and is reasonable. I doubt I'd want to play Easy too much either (because I'd probably have to fall back on it alot since while my basics are cool, I don't know my way around the latter three stages in nearly every game).

The last time I played on Easy Modo, it was such a huge joke that when I tried Normal mode immediately after, I started failing harder than I normally do. If you ask me, playing Easy Modo is detrimental to your skills in Touhou. Still though, I have trouble clearing Normal Mode in most games...

I'll just confirm that from my own experience.

Heck, I even have trouble doing well on Hard after merely playing Normal!
