FE8 Promotion issue

Whenever I try to promote any of my characters in FE8, from the Prep screen or the field, the screen just goes black. Music carries on playing as it normally does, but the screen is black and there's nothing I'm able to do. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I'm afraid you'll need to provide a little more information :P. I assume you're hacking FE8, have you changed anything in Nightmare or FEditor? Map insertion or the like?

I've not inserted any maps. I've inserted a few custom animations and portraits, I've changed a fair few classes and weapons with nightmare, and quite a lot of text with FEeditor.

EDIT: I also just discovered it's some sort of problem loading the promotion choice screen. If I use a class that only has one promotion, it promotes fine.

I've had this happen when promoting a unit using a weapon that doesn't have an animation. (The Dark magic glitch on physical units.)

Though that doesn't actually freeze the game. It just skips the promotion animation. (It's pretty cool, actually, the map sprite randomly pops up XD)

Not sure. What specifically about the classes have you changed?
