Was Greil formerly a royal knight of Crimea?

Recommended Posts

Titania was.

Mia was.

If so, why did Greil leave the army and go out of hiding with his kids to form the Greil Mercs?

This makes him an interesting fellow.

Mia was never a royal knight. She was a mercenary hired by Crimea.

Titania met Greil in Gallia, not Crimea. Greil never had the chance to become a Crimean knight. Greil went to Crimea after killing Elena, and became a mercenary.

They were common sellswords (with unusual skill and power, though) so they were still in hiding. Communication was difficult in those times, so Daein wouldn't have been able to find them.

Greil was originally Gawain, one of the Four Riders of Daein. He was never a Crimean Knight.

As far as I know, after he and Elena married, they fled to Gallia after taking Lehran's Medallion. Ike and Mist were born in Gallia. After Greil accidentally touched the medallion, he accidentally ran Elena through with Ragnell, a moment that Ike bore witness to. Afterward, he slashed some of the tendons in his sword arm to never wield a sword again, and took up axes. A few years after, Greil, Mist, and Ike settled in Crimea and formed the Greil Mercenaries.

So no. He was never a Crimean Knight. Titania once met him while on duty, and then joined the crew. Mia was a prisoner of war that Greil rescued, not a Knight, and then she joined the crew. That doesn't make him a Crimean Knight, just for recruiting an ex-Crimean Knight to his cause.

Some of that info is spoiler-heavy, so if you haven't played too far into the game, progress at your own risk.

Wait? Wasn't Greil killed Elena with a Regular Sword, not the Ragnell?
