Best Way To Get Someone Into The Series

I've managed to convince a few of my friends to get Awakening and they seem to be enjoying it a great deal. Which game(s) do you think I should suggest they play next in order to make them fully fledged fans?

Funny story: my cousin loves the Vikings but I love the Packers. I made a bet with my cousin: if e beat awakening on hard, I would support the Vikings. He's on like ch 6 and always fails to protect Emm. He also always kills off gaius.

This is a dumb question, it really depends on the person you're reccomending the game to. Any game past 7 is reccomendable, but their strengths vary depending on the type of games the person you're reccomending likes. I have a friend who's really into SRPGs for character customisation, so something like Awakening or a Tellius game would probably be ideal. Maybe Sacred Stones.

Super Smash Bros. Melee, Marth was the best there.

Ahh, this brings back memories.

Unlocking Marth was probably my favorite part of that game, he looked so badass! SSBM was actually the reason I got into the FE series, so I can back this up.

I'd also recommend Sacred Stones. It's got great features like branched promotions and a world map which Awakening would later re-use. I replayed it again this month and found that it still holds up pretty well.

I'm surprised The Sacred Stones is the most recommended. I always thought that it was completely overshadowed by FE7. It would be a good transition from Awakening all right. Though it would probably give a false impression that branched classes and the world map are a staple of the series.

They're both very good games. People just put down FE8 because it isn't challenging.

In reality, I'd say somewhere between 75-90% of us have enjoyed every FE that we've played over the years. FE11 gets a bad rep. because it was lazily done, and FE8 gets a bad rep. because it isn't hard. FE13 gets a bad rep. because its story is ultra-lacking and there's some broken mechanics. But all things considered, I think a huge majority of us find every title a blast to play.

Nah, people in the know are aware that FESS >>>>> FE7

FE7 is the better game, so I would recommend that. I think FE8 has better characters so if your friend is into that, that would be the one to recommend. So unless they really enjoy the game for the characters, I would recommend FE7.

I honestly find FE8 as one of the most lackluster, most overrated games in the series. I don't really see its characters as anything too notable (though it does have better characterization than say FE6), nor do I see its story as anything praiseworhty. FE8's sotry does have several issues that aren't explained properly even on certain routes. I'm not gonna say it's "riddled with plotholes or anything", but overall, I'd place FE8 on the same podium as FE10 and the original game. Not to mention, I'm gonna have to agree with Jotari about FE8 possibly giving newbiews a false impression about the game's world map and branched classes.

At any rate, I would say FEs 7, 9, 11, and 13 would be go to titles for newbies. If the person likes engaging stories and interesting characters, I would have to add emphasis to my FE7 and FE9 reccommendations.

I think the ambassador program is the best way to get people in the series. If a person was trying to get another person to play it, tell them it's the game with Marth and Roy in it. Hand them FE7, convince them Eliwood is Roy's other name and that you get Marth later.

I'd probably recommend 7 over 8 on the sheer fact that Lyn Normal Mode is a thing. Tutorials are not awful when you don't know how to play the game, but when there's a forced tutorial and you already know how to play the game, it's aggravating. Starting with 7 gets LNM out of the way as FE8 you can go straight on to Normal or Hard and skip over the tutorial altogether.

It's probably a bad idea for a first time FE player to start on hard mode, even with FE8. I've never solo'd FE7 with Marcus on HHM (yet) but I'd imagine he can solo ENM no trouble, and I've done Sethsolo HM so NM should be even easier, which means both games have a good enough built-in failsafe should the player get stuck at places. FE7 prepromotes are mostly pretty quality anyway.

I personally liked 8 more than 7, but personal opinions. Either should be a good starting option.

Just don't try to introduce them with Thracia, Genealogy or RD.

They're good games, but definitely not for newcomers.

Funny, the first game I played in the series was Radiant Dawn. The first game one of my other friends played was Genealogy (despite my warnings). We both loved our first involvement in the series but I think we are a unique few who would latch onto the series beginning with those games.

I think I will suggest 7 actually because I no from personal experience how annoying the Lyn tutorial is for an experienced player. Getting it over out of the way so to speak when one is still a novice would probably be best.
