PacoHeavyFire
I've been wondering for a while how to make every class equally usable, and I haven't seen or known anybody that uses swordmaster after they start capping some stats, why is this? AssassinSevera
Because assassin outclasses it
ZemZem
Swordfaire is pretty nifty, Astra is better than nothing, but otherwise swordmasters are kinda meh.
The JOJ
I've been wondering for a while how to make every class equally usable, and I haven't seen or known anybody that uses swordmaster after they start capping some stats, why is this? Well, I didn't notice this was in Awakening, but LOW STRENGTH CAP. I personally like swordmaster in awakening a lot, but it's not that good generally. Edit: I just forgot about astra x20s. But then again, you can have astra as long as you got it as SM no matter what class you are, but it looks coolest as SM. PacoHeavyFire
So, lets say, you give Assassins and SMastes the same strenght cap, what would change?
The JOJ
So, lets say, you give Assassins and SMastes the same strenght cap, what would change? Well, asassins have lower STR caps then SMs. I never said that Assassins were better than SMs, but they would be SO MUCH BETTER if the STR caps were the same. Psych
Assassins suddenly have reliable 2 range then since otherwise you need legendary weapons for it mostly.
PacoHeavyFire
But wouldn't the availability of Levin Swords, and way higher defenses balance the reliable 2 range (strong, cause I mean, bows have pretty nice MT)?
Genuine Uncertainty
being locked to only swords hurts. Not so much in Awakening, where there is an attempt to balance out weapon types among enemies, but some of the earlier game are kind of lance heavy. And no reliable two range. And no crit boost in Awakening. the +30 crit in FE6 is rather useful
HK Motendra
Swordmasters are actually my all-time favorite
PacoHeavyFire
Oh, yeah, I forgot that, I would have love for innate skills loke Crit+, Canto, Shove, etc, to come back, and since SMaster don't have the super skill they had in RD, they crit less often in my opinion
PacoHeavyFire
And they're my all-time favorite too, that's why I'm asking. I actually have an Excel document in which i put how would I arrange max stat caps for all classes, to make it more balanced. For example, bow knights are like... completely useless even with bowbreaker, I imagined a little stat cap manpulation would make them more useful
Knight
They really hit Swordmasters with a nerf, lower strength, no crit boost, and the fact that you can bring Astra and Swordefaire to the superior Assassin class after you're done with it. Not a bad class until you're worried about hitting the caps.
Junkhead
lol, Assassin isn't a better class. It has bows, but then you suddenly realize you are locking yourself to 2-range when using them. Only real boon Assassins have is a higher Str cap. Other than that, Lethality is terrible, and Pass isn't such a big deal considering how late you get it without really paying off that well. SMs aren't really bad, it's just that they really don't have much going for them so much. Astra is only Skill/2 activation rate, and not crit. boost (basically, their signature trait, besides Spd) make them kind of eh. Higher Spd isn't so big in this game considering how easy it is to fix that stat. You can double with something like Warrior caps and hit hard. JSND Alter Dragon Boner
Maximization assumes you are not retarded enough to use Brave bow without Galeforce or calculating enemy range Although this is kind of a paradox because average maximization player does not know how to calculate enemy range.... On topuc: SM is cool for 101 Miracle build, otherwise eh

Meteor
On top of better caps and weapon selection, Assassins also give better pair up bonuses. Essentially Swordmasters have no redeeming qualities (tactically).
Ema Skye
Assassins have the higher strength cap. Bows are also useful in specific situations. Really though its just the strength cap that's the difference.

Snowy_One
Just for once I'd like to see SM's as the dominate class in an American-release FE. But yea, no crit-boost blows various animal parts I'm not allowed to mention in good company.
Gaia
Swordmasters are good for their speed and skill, but assassins either match or outclass them. Logically, an assassin would be the better bet because of higher skill, and the ability to use bows. The higher defence and resistance cap also isn't gonna do much for a class that is much more suited to dodging then taking hits.
