Spector
So, I picked up a 2DS and Awakening. I decided, since I've beaten every Fire Emblem to come to NA I'd start my first game on hard. Woo boy, I forgot how brutal this game can be. But I've scraped up to Chapter 6 before finally breaking down and checking this site. Here's what the game looks like for my Top 8; [spoiler=Chrom] Level 13 Lord 31 HP 17 Str 3 Mag 15 Skill 13 Spd 13 Lck 10 Def 4 Res B in Swords B Support with Sumia (Whom I'm planning on pairing him with), C with the Avatar. [spoiler=Avatar] Level 14 Tactician 25 HP 11 Str 17 Mag (+4) 12 Skill 11 Spd 14 Lck (+4) 9 Def 6 Res (+4) E in Swords, B in Tomes S Support with Lissa (Which I'm kinda regretting looking at the forums), C with Chrom. [spoiler=Lissa] Level 5 Cleric 21 HP 2 Str 8 Mag 5 Skill 6 Spd 9 Lck 4 Def 6 Res D in Staves S with Avatar [spoiler=Sumia] Level 4 Pegasus Knight [i'm trying to level her, honest!] 21 HP 7 Str 3 Mag 13 Skill 14 Spd (+2 with skill) 9 Lck 6 Def 7 Res Near- C in Lances B Support with Chrom (Whom I'm planning on pairing her with). [spoiler=Kellam] Level 11 Knight 27 HP 15 Str 2 Mag 11 Skill 9 Spd 6 Lck 18 Def (+2 with skills, meaning almost nobody can touch him right now) 2 Res B in Lances B Support with Donnel (He's the big butt that keeps him alive) C with Stahl. [spoiler=Donnel] Level 4 Generic Enemy Unit (I kid, he's a villager) 19 HP 7 Str 1 Mag 3 Skill 5 Spd 14 Lck 4 Def 0 Res D in Lances B Support with Kellam (He's the big butt that keeps him alive) [spoiler=Virion] Level 5 MI6 Agent (Archer) 21 HP 9 Str 0 Mag 11 Skill (+2 with skills) 7 Spd 8 Lck 8 Def 1 Res C in Bows C Support with Sully (Whom I'm planning on pairing him with). [spoiler=Sully] Level 8 Horsewoman 24 HP 9 Str 3 Mag 12 Skill 13 Spd 11 Lck 9 Def 3 Res B in Lances, E in Swords C Support with Virion (Whom I'm planning on pairing her with), and a C support with an unfortunately deceased Vaike. First question, am I totally boned in regards to children? Second, who should I kick out for Anna, as soon as I finish her chapter? (Also, who should I pair her with?) Third, I REALLY want to class the Avatar into a Dark Mage, but it seems like a really bad idea from what I've read... Any help or other commentary is appreciated! Aurath8
I wouldn't worry about children too much, as many of them are quite hard to use unless you plan on doing post game. In fact, imo, only Chrom's, Avatar's and Sully's kids are 'easy' to obtain. They'll be quite underlevelled, essentially acting as Ests unless you plan on doing skirmishes. Anna can only marry the Avatar and she doesn't have any other supports with male characters. In fact she only has one support besides the Avatar, so for that reason I tend not to use her. Reclassing the Avatar to a Dark Mage at Ch6 isn't a good idea, as the main draw of Dark Mage is Nosferatu and you don't get any until Ch9 and can't buy them until Ch13. After Ch13 you're free to reclass into a Sorceror and rape the game with Nosferatu. As for any other advice, level your team evenly. Technically you could just burn your way through the game with Chrom and Avatar, but I prefer larger teams if only to read the supports and get a few kids later on. Reclass Panne into a Wyvern Knight. No matter how many times I've played through Awakening this is always one of the best choices I make. Czar_Yoshi
Most of the stuff you hear on this forum is in regards to the postgame, the main game is completely different. That said, you should probably ditch Donnel and focus on promoting Lissa to Sage. Heal with her whenever possible instead of merely when you need it and you should have her to Lv.10 in a chapter or so.
Rapier
Kick Phoenix Wright Donnel out. He's subpar and not worth the time. To be honest, the kids catch up quickly since their parents' stats influence their starting stats when you enter their Paralogues. If you find them too weak, just come back later, when the parents are stronger.
Czar_Yoshi
But the kids' recruitment stats grow slower than the parent's stats, so they'll be higher if you recruit them and then let them do three chapters than if you do three chapters then recruit them. Introvertism
I have him. I was thinking about it, but I have so many sword users... Not in that list as far as I can see. Your MU has E on Swords (Sully as well), and then Chrom.
Spector
Not in that list as far as I can see. Your MU has E on Swords (Sully as well), and then Chrom. I just realized that as I posted. lol So, Donnel for Lon'qu? I got a Master Seal from a shop, who should I class up first? The Avatar? Czar_Yoshi
If you can, try not to promote until Lv.20. After that, Avatar is probably the best to promote as long as you don't want to do any other base classes (Mercenary comes to mind, but with your weapon ranks that wouldn't be wise). Spector
Grandmaster? Sorc?
Czar_Yoshi
Tactician can only promote to Grandmaster. If you want to be a Sorc, you'll need to reclass to Dark Mage and then promote to Sorc, or promote to Grandmaster, reach Lv.10, and then reclass to Sorc. I'd advise just staying Grandmaster (and switching to Sage for more Mag or Dark Knight for more Mov later) because Sorcs look hideous, are broken, and sap a lot of fun from the game, especially on first playthroughs. Czar_Yoshi
Definitely either promote Chrom to Great Lord or reclass to Cavalier. All children come at Lv.10, so you'll be able to immediately get Morgan out of Cleric, don't worry.
tuvarkz
You seem to have goofed around tbh. You should have swapped Frederick to the lead (probably MU) to face the hammer guy, or rather not put him in range of it. Chapter 2 should have been an easy clear with Chrom+Freddie and Avatar+Stahl/Vaike. Chapter 5 you could have saved them both, you just needed to either pair them up before rescuing or rescue one, and place the other in the safespot that there is in turn 1. Cordelia is actually terribly useful,

tuvarkz
given your nice amount of seals, I'd call for a MU reclass to Sorceror, and Panne to Wyvern Rider. given infinite levelups, prepromoting isn't a really bad idea here given the massive amount of master seals you got stashed, so prepromo Sumia into Dark Flier, Lon'qu into either, and Sully into Great Knight. Czar_Yoshi
Reclass Lucina? I usually find Cavalier to be a strong first move, but since you've already promoted her (and especially if you promoted her at Lv.10) doing that will ruin her exp gain. Just use her as a GL and wait 15 levels for your next skill. No, you won't miss Tharja (aesthetically, of course).
