"No worries. I didn't really think about how much ghosts must end up going through until now, to be honest. If you need to talk about something again, I'm all ears." he said, letting out a yawn. He turned and made his way towards the door. "Night." he called back, as he made his way back to his room. He didn't really feel like heading downstairs anymore for some reason; he felt ready to retire for the night.

"Well, the mage girl quizzed Lanos and then asked if she could try riding him. Not much other than that, you and her seem to be the only ones with any energy left." Sonia said, completely oblivious to how the other harpy might take that statement.

"I'm fine but tired. Was thinking of going to bed soon but eh, I can wait a bit." Lanos answered Valha. So tired in fact that he missed the implications of what Sonia had told Valha. "No nothing interesting really. No bar fights or anything like that."

Astounding

"Ingverd did? He doesn't seem like the fashion type. Maybe he'll buy clothes for me," Vriska said, quite surprise that he had some taste for clothing. Well, he did carry himself well, and his clothes weren't the worst, so he had to care somewhat. "Oh, yeah, I asked if I could ride him for a bit. You don't have a problem with that, right?"

Couch Potato

A loud snore echoed through the inn's foyer.

Halt!

Before Kendeall could slip the book off of the table, the merchant slammed her hand down onto it, staring at his eyes. "You never answered my question about employment. If you're not willing to discuss it, at least tell me where I can find your boss, so I can speak to them. Unless you are the boss... Hmm. I wonder." She smirked, and cocked an eyebrow. He seemed tough, but he didn't look like leader material.

"What do you mean by that?" Valha asked. "I mean, I don't think that'll go well for you... we aren't like dragons, you know, we're closer to birds, 'n birds aren't meant to be carryin' people around." Valha quickly turned her head to Makin, who'd fallen asleep. "Out already? Huh, 'n she didn't even have the decency to get off the couch."

Kendeall felt a drop of sweat go down his face. "I-I can't answer that. I'm pretty low on the totem pole. The boss is... is..." Kendeall paused. Where should he send this creepy old lady? Then it hit him. "Ah, right! They're just outside of town! You better hurry and catch up to them..." He replied, slipping his tome out from under the lady's hand. "A-Anyways, I have to run. See ya!" He added, before dashing off with his new tome.

"I think it'll be okay, she's probably the best choice anyway, since she's so light. It'll be something new at least, can't think of any harpies who've let someone ride them. If I'm the first then at least I'll have something to boast about." Not that it's that big of an accomplishment...

"It'll be interesting to see, anyway. Are you sure you can fly with that much extra weight? Even if she is sort of small..." She trailed off as she remembered the gem and quickly handed it to Lanos. "Either way, here. You'll probably get more out of this than I can."

Floor

A small thud then echoed through the foyer, as Makin had rolled off of the couch and onto her back on the floor, still sleeping soundly.

Flight

"He'll be fine. He can carry that sword he's got around, right? I swear I saw him swing that armorslayer too," she pointed out, pointing a bit as well. "Besides, he's alright with it. Don't get all jealous, Valha. I won't take him away from you forever, alright? Geez, two guys around your fingers already, how do you do it?" Vriska chuckled to herself.

Run Away

"Hey! Get back here!" the merchant shouted after Kendeall as he left. Outside the town my ass. They're probably all staying at the inn judging by the way he ran off. I'll pay them a visit later...

As Kendeall made his way back to the inn, he saw an amazing sight: the couch was free. "Mine!" he called out as he flopped onto the vacated couch, stretching his legs so that the whole thing was his. Hey, if the boss could do it, so could he, right? It wasn't like anyone else that was awake were going to try and take it from him, after all... They were all too tired to do anything, from what he gathered.

"Huh, well if you wanna go for it then it's whatever. I'm just sayin' it's unusual, yeah?" She ignored Vriska's comment in favor of focusing on the incredible sight of an empty couch, only for Kendeall to take up all the space on it right before her eyes. "Oh, like hell it's yours!" she shouted, storming over to it angrily. "The boss can get away with it 'cause she's payin' us, but no way am I givin' the whole thing to you."

Kendeall simply stuck out his tongue at Valha, letting out a small laugh as he did so. "Well, maybe you should have gotten here quicker, then. Couch is mine now. Too bad, short stack." Kendeall replied in a playful manner.

Kendeall was still in too good of a mood to be forceful. "Excuse me, but who gave you the authority to try and pull that card? I got here first, and that's that. Find your own comfy spot." He replied, trying to slip off his boots for added comfort.

"C'mon, you don't need the whole thing! Well, if you don't move, I'll wake the boss, 'n she'll be pissed if you're in her space," Valha threatened. "Or you could just share. Take your pick."

"O-Oh, thanks," Lanos stumbled over his words as he took the gem, surprised that Sonia had actually given it to him. Lanos laughed awkwardly at Vriska's comments, finding Vriska teasing someone else, even if it was Valha, somewhat amusing. Well, until Valha got pissed over the couch being taken by the axes-and-magic man. I am not sticking around for this. Mainly because I know whose side I'm on. Stowing the gem in one of his pockets, he hastily stood up. "I-I have to go er, buy stuff!" was the hasty excuse he gave Vriska and Sonia before sneaking out the door, breathing a sigh of relief once he was out of the danger zone. "Now, what to do with this..." Lanos mumbled to himself, taking out the gem and beginning to wander.

He wandered for a while before eventually hitting his head on stone. Looking up, he saw he was at the blacksmith's. Well, I guess my subconscious knows what I want. "Hey, it's me again, the bird man," Lanos greeted the blacksmith as he walked. "Can you give me say, 680 gold for this and take the remaining 320 gold as payment to forge this again?" he asked as he put the red gem and his barbed sword on the counter.

Kendeall glared at the harpie, then sighed. "Fine. But I maintain couch control." He replied gruffly as he brought his legs inward slightly so that Valha had enough room - barely - that she could sit down.

Chuckles

Vriska got plenty of laughter between the exchange of Kendeall and Valha. Marty, meanwhile, sighed behind his counter. "This is what my inn's become. A playhouse for mercenaries..."

The Floor

Between Valha and Ken's arguing, Makin had finally woken up, tiredly bringing herself to somewhat of a standing position. She didn't say anything to anyone, just looked around a bit before making her way to the stairs, and awkwardly slithering up them. The sound of a door shutting could be heard moments later.

Cold Steel

The blacksmith was a bit surprised to see Lanos again, but he didn't say no right away. "What, the first sword y'brought in? Y'want that forged? Well, listen, I don't want t'ruin yer aspirations er nothin', but I'll need to fix it up first, before I reforge it, and that'll cost you five hundred gold. Might seem expensive, but it's a lengthy process, and I need ta replace the missin' metal with my own steel. Can't exactly make a weapon better if it's missin' pieces, can I? But, here's what I'll do fer you. I'll charge you seven hundred outta that gem, fer both the fixin' and the improvement." He crossed his arms and nodded his head. "That's all I can do fer yah. Y'can take it, or y'can leave it."

"That's..." just about the exact opposite of what I wanted to spend. Lanos finished the sentence in his mind. He looked from the sword to the gem several times. While the sword was special in a sense, it would still take a lot more use before it could no longer be considered repairable and it wasn't like he needed the thing upgraded this second. "Thanks for the offer but I think I'll pass this time around." At least he knew for next time. After stowing the gem and grabbing his sword Lanos left the Blacksmith's, giving the man a "see ya" as he walked out the door. Lanos briefly contemplated going to Hilda and having her clarify his fortune, after all she had been proven to be right, but decided not to. His logic being that since it wasn't bad, he wouldn't lose any sleep over it and therefore he could wait for it to happen. Out of options, that he could think of anyway, Lanos started to head back to the inn; however, for some odd reason he found himself passing through the town center on his way back to the inn. Perhaps he'd buy something just yet.

Valha looked a bit startled at Makin's awakening, preparing herself to leave if necessary, but was surprised to see the naga opt to not complain about it and head upstairs instead. "Night, Boss!" she called up the stairs as Makin left. She gave a glance around afterwards. "Huh, where'd Lanos go? He tired, too?"

No Steel

Disappointed, the blacksmith went back to working on what he had been before. It was too late to try and argue out a purchase.

The Merchant

Isabelle had found herself pacing behind her stall, not sure whether or not she should head over to the inn right now, in the morning, or hope for another one of those mercenaries to pass by her. As luck would have it, the birdman that she'd sold the barbed sword had strolled into market. Schdem smiles on this elf, today. I'll have those mercenaries hire me before they leave town! "Excuuuuuuse me! Bird boy!" She waved at him, hoping to get his attention.

After arriving in the town center Lanos had since taken out the red gem again and let his subconscious lead him once again. He wasn't all that surprised at where he found himself, he figured his mind was retracing his route from yesterday, though he hadn't expected the woman to still be around at this hour. As such he jumped, nearly dropping the gem in the process, when she suddenly called out to him. "H-Hey there," he greeted as he strolled up to her stand. "If you're that excited you must have something really good."

Recruiting

Finally, someone didn't run away. Honestly, what's with these people? "Not exactly, though you're free to look around if you want. I was more interested in working with your group." She leaned onto her table again, once more with the hair twirling. "I'll be honest, working this market, while it pays well --whenever one of you groups comes through--, is dreadfully boring. I yearn for a little...action. Something dangerous, you know? What better than to have a front row seat of mercenaries fighting for their lives? And, I can keep stock of your items! I'm not just a pretty face standing behind a counter; there's a brain up here." With that, she winked, wondering what he'd have to say.

"Heh, I'd love to look around but I can't see the greatest in the dark. Perhaps you've got something in mind? I'll even promise not to negotiate this time." Lanos sighed. "Well, it's not like I'm in a position to hire you. I'm just one of the frontliners which, now that I think about it, is rather ironic. Although, Makin would probably hire you, she's smart enough to know how valuable a merchant is. Problem is I think she's asleep right now..." Lanos trailed off in thought. He didn't really want to tell her "come by in the morning" as his morning was already quite busy between apologizing to Ingverd and giving Vriska a ride on his back. "Well, Ingverd's probably still awake, provided he's back from whatever he's doing. He'd probably be able to hire you, he's like second in command or something."
