Define average.

iirc I had nozuchi and that japanese goddess on my team so... about 16-19, I think

that's usually the level range that people encounter him, that's what I meant by average

You mean Ame no Uzume?

Even so, I refuse to believe you beat him on your first try.

Yeah, her. She had the long, black hair and the cute little fans.

I played many SMT games before I got my hands on Nocturne, though, so I guess I had an advantage because of my prior experience with the series. I think he is so infamous because a lot of players started with Nocturne. If you don't know shit about buffs he will wreck you, and if Nocturne was your first SMT game, then you might not have realized the importance of buffs and reistances yet. He's not so bad once you get a hang of the mechanics.

Because they are the key to defeating him. Not just buffs, either, but wind resistance, too. I doubt anyone could survive his onslaught of Mazans and Andalucias without both of them.

Doesn't he have Dekunda and/or Dekaja, though?

Yeah, but iirc he only uses it if you buff yourself thrice. Twice was enough for me to consistently dodge his attacks. In fact, this goes for pretty much all bosses with De-skills in Nocturne.

Ah, okay. Would you say Minotaur from IV or Matador from Nocturne is harder?

Man, they're both tough... However, I think Matador is the winner here. Andalucia is terrifying and he will demolish you if you are not prepared.

Minotaur comes close, too, but the fact that Walter exists makes me dislike the fight.

Level 12-14 seems like the average for El Matador. 16-19 is stupid high just for that fight

I thought it was about the right level.

I mean I didn't feel like I was grinding much.
