Oh wait, this is a Ness Appreciation Thread? I think he's pretty cool. He's fun to play in Smash and he's by far the best character in Earthbound, carrying the team in the endgame with his ever-increasing stats, skyrocketing with each level up, especially the - heh - Mother of all level ups after fighting Ness's Nightmare.

Basically, he carries the team in the endgame since his stats are leagues higher than his friends. A capable white mage with and a devastating line of attack spells, and as the only character playable through the entire game, he remains useful and powerful through it all.

I'd argue that, in proportion to his teammates... he could be the best character in the series.

And in Smash, as a Veteran who's been in the series since the 64 era, he's a capable fighter with his powerful PSI attacks, grab game and chaining attacks, a powerful fSmash that even works as a reflect, an absorb? Yeah, he's still really good. I played him a lot more before Lucas came out, who I'm much better with, but he'll still hold a special place in my heart.

Fun fact, though: I used to play Smash 64 on my grandma's 64, but... my siblings and I (who did most of the unlocking in almost every Smash game all of us owned. No, seriously) never once unlocked him or the Mushroom Kingdom stage. No, really.

Proud to admit that I did literally all of the unlocks in Melee and Brawl! Plus Falcon, Luigi, and Jiggles in 64.

Giant heads with tiny faces with weird limbs? OKEY.

In all seriousness, Ness is good. He's always the last to drop in a failure. And he SMAAAASHES stuff all the time.

I'm playing Earthbound right now and he is amazing. I just got the meteorite piece from Onett. Took a break so I could play Superstar Saga, though. It's crazy how much of a boost he gets from the whole Magicant event.

Now I have to work on leveling everybody. Then I have to pump them with rock candy. It's gonna be a lot of work, but I WILL one-shot Giygas.

Except he's not playable when you first explore Winters. Or Dalaam for that matter.

eh those segments are only, like, what, five minutes long

it's not a big deal
