Sadisticorc
Yeah. As everyone knows, 1-2 short bows are the best way to make archers better. Yaaaay. So does this mean that GhebFE was the first hack to do this? Cause all it really does is make archers into inferior frisbee tossers. I mean, I don't want to harp on the hack's CLEARLY INNOVATIVE AND FAIR level design, but wouldn't the archers be more threatening if they had, say, longbows? That way, when the unit stockpile starts, they could hit farther than anyone else. oh wait sorry i'm asking GhebFe to be smart and well designed, my bad
BlancHammer
Renault is basically crutch because he's T3 with those bases. I remember this is Caellach's promotion. Nope Heroes and Mad Heroes are T2 and promote into Champions. Also Moniker regarding Ewan, if you go the Shaman Path he still gets to promote to Necromancer regardless of his T2 class. HF Makalov Fanboy Kai
now for a post that is not accidental spam played farther on this patch, found out afew things. i don't think Colm can actually promote, Batta can now be promoted with a hero's crest instead of a manly seal. also because i'm awful at the game i lost Moulder and Glenn, ah well i can replace them anyways with enough grinding. TheMoniker
yeah those growths look about right for everyone, and yes Glass>Gheb sadly we won't be doing his route first. (COME ON PEOPLE CHANGE YOUR VOTES TO GLASS PLEASE) and yeah this chapter is literally hell, i think its the hardest in the game even. The hardest? I think Chapter 5 put up more of a fight, and judging by what I've seen of Chapter 6... Yeah, I don't think this the hardest. Actually, if I didn't spoil you that, I don't think you would have been able to complete the chapter. You basically CAN'T without using Renault. And it's Nintales, not Ninetales. '3' Renault is basically crutch because he's T3 with those bases. I remember this is Caellach's promotion. As for Marcus and Glen, they're good. You can use them if you want. And Glass is awesome. Trust me, even if I thought Renault would run to Team Enemy, I would still use him. I like to train but I'm not that insane. "merde" means shit. You're welcome. I knew it was SOMETHING like that! That way, when the unit stockpile starts, they could hit farther than anyone else. oh wait sorry i'm asking GhebFe to be smart and well designed, my bad Yeah, giving archers Longbows so they can actually hit without being countered would make them much better... though, that would kind of break a lot of bosses. Got a good archer? Just chip all bosses down from 3 range! Nope Heroes and Mad Heroes are T2 and promote into Champions. Also Moniker regarding Ewan, if you go the Shaman Path he still gets to promote to Necromancer regardless of his T2 class. Wait, so the shaman path has a T3 too? I'm gonna trust you on this one, and make Ewan a shaman... Time to struggle through... GhebFE: Episode 7: Chapter 5x: Slow But Sure Do 2 stupid tutorials make a smart one? Do 2 wrongs make a right? Yes isn't the wrong answer... right? Let's, uh, start luring enemies. >Peerless Skillz >Only gods surpass him >One-rounded by random generic soldier Are all these enemies gods? Yup, Renault's gonna be pulling some SERIOUS weight. I chip the thief, but... It's NOT ENOUGH! We still lose this EXCEEDINGLY valuable healing item! Ugh, now we're even more at risk of running out of HP... I might have to RNG abuse now. Note to self: Renault is not invincible. Hide in the corner! Renault will do the work! Teamwork and Glass being actually good later... We get our first level! And it's not bad, but not that great either! Yeah, there's still tons of enemies... ugh, this is gonna take frikkin FOREVER... This is an interesting combat scenario. Glen's javelin was a total lifesaver this chapter. It makes everything so much easier. Also, Glen proves himself to me! He looks good! We're gonna use him! Ding! Another level. Defenses are good! Uh... Renault can be flirted with? Is he the traitor or not? TAKE NO PRISONERS MEN I said "no prisoners", not "no stats"! The treasures may be key to survival... let's see what's inside! A replacement healing item, though having 2 would be infinitely better than 1... And a good weapon for Glass! Make-life-easier tactics! Die, soldier, die! Tons of offscreen stuff later, we've advanced a tiny bit. Note that Glen can cross the water pools all around, which opens up some tactical options. If we wanted to LTC, we could've gone straight for the throne room, but it's too risky for me. Notasgoodashisfirstlevel/10 Renault kills the knight. And the soldier. Glass gets the other knight, and a bad level. Renault is the one who's been using the Tea, because he can make better use of the HP than anyone else. Seriously, he's the only competent one on the team right now. Still working our way down... See those cavaliers? And the other enemies on the right side? Yeah, we're ignoring them for now. We don't have HP to waste on killing them. Dangit! I wanted to give the kill to someone else! ...Whatever. Let's have Glass do some luring! Annnnd I immediately regret it. Very much. KILL THEM BEFORE THEY KILL US We're almost ready to attack the throne room. This hasn't been THAT hard, more of just ANNOYING than anything! I'm not even sure what to think of this level, other than that it's bad. Go, Glass! Prove to everyone your peerless skillz! Let's get some rescuedrop tactics involved! STRATEGY! At least he's using his increased cap... 1: It had to happen eventually 2: I blame Glass's bad levels, not myself Next try, we manage to get the throne room cleared... But now, we must fight THE BOSS! After everything we've been through, he'll probably be EXTREMELY tough, a major challenge! Haha, NO, goodbye loser! Zonta: Heheh… Money doesn't matter in hell, buddy. And the cliche loser is gone. Glass's xp bar stops just short of a level, as one final spiteful touch. Let's not seize the throne. Let's just wait on it. For the HEALING! Okay, now that we have a renewable healing resource, let's take out the rest of the enemies! I'll skip most of it, only showing the notable things. Like Glass SUCKING. Seriously, buddy... please, please, oh PLEASE be good! I NEED YOU TO SAVE ME FROM GHEB! \ DON'T FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE GLEN We also get this, too late for it to do much. We took so long everyone can support each other now. I don't plan on using Marcus or Renault long-term, so let's just do this one! Fourth wall breaking! Just what this hack needed! Glass: Huh? Glen: Oh, nothing, I just heard about that among the troops. Glass: Well… what the fuck is a support conversation? Glen: This conversation that we’re having in the middle of a battle. Glass: And what’s so special about it? Glen: We become more powerful. Actually, it provides real tactical advantages. If it didn't, I wouldn't bring more of this hack's text upon myself! Really, it's kind of a trade-off with this hack. I can choose between suffering more through text, or suffering more through harder gameplay. Glen: I’m just telling you what I heard. Glass: Well, next time, just concentrate on the battle. Glen: As you wish… And so, Glen is cemented as "dude we are using". I'm not getting the support back unless I kill him off. Time to be done! NEXT TIME: The map sprites conflict with the portraits!

TheMoniker
You have had some of the worst level ups i've seen in a long time, and on a bs hard hack too. Now THAT is some bad luck. I look forward to when the tower is unlocked. Monkier Sanity Index: Disappointed. Glass's skill unfortunately has peers. His skill stat is peerless for an unpromoted unit, though! Yeah, it's a pity his skill stat wasn't his speed stat... or his strength stat... or his defense stat... Let's just do... The CHAPTER 5x CONCLUSION! Apparently, we weren't giving items to each other the normal way, we were using the internet! A modern game, GhebFE is. Glass: We can organize. Good job, assholes. Why does organizing four dudes require a castle? Glass runs off, and Renault runs up and just sort of... uses his old speech bubble... Renault: How hard it was for me to control myself. Ah hah, NO. Renault: I must agree.. Either way… where’s the newcomer? Typo aside, has GLEN BECOME EVIL? Renault: I do not trust that boy. Renault: You cur! I don't think I understand. Is the game trying to mix FE7 lore with... well, whatever GhebFE is? Renault: Unless you want to face my wrath! Marcus: Ack! Renault… ok… Renault: May it be the last time! Glen comes back. Also, the map sprites are wrong, Glass is there instead of Renault! Renault: What is it, boy? Glen: We are surrounded. Marcus: We better tell sir Glass. He's right there! He's closer to Glen than Marcus is! We charge out, but it's too late! Wyverns and enemies are everywhere! And we're out of healing items! We can't take these guys! Ephraim sprints over mountains and rivers to confront Glass. Considering he's replacing Vigarde, I'm surprised he's here! Glass: Goat demon boy! What the fuck do you want? Ephraim: Gleb would like you to lend him your peerless skillz. Ah, so it's a recruitment... wait... WHAT IF GLASS IS ORSON? Glass: Why the fuck would I do that? Ephraim: Ah, but you see. Gleb is EPIC. His hotness can persuade anybody. He offers lands and gold. So, instead of schmexyness, we have hotness. I don't think it's much better. Glass: I submit to none! My skillz are peerless. Not even Gods surpass me. Yup, he's not turning. Are druids really THAT hot? Maybe if they're using Elfire Ephraim: It would be wise to surrender. Glass: Ha! Look, fucker, I can smite your asses all day if you want! There’ just one damn thing that bothers me… how the fuck did you get here so fast? Ephraim: Ah, but his hotness is wise. We knew every move you were going to make up to this point, so we were ready for you. It could have been Glen as well. Ephraim: Don’t strain your little brain too much. It might shatter. Glass: Ok! No, just no! Glen! Get those assholes Renault and Marcus, this is war!! You know, Glen, if you were gonna turn traitor, now would be the time... are you a traitor or not? Glass: demon boy! Ephraim is up against a person whose only good stat is skill. Even if he doesn't know this, I'd still say he's bound for victory. Ephraim: Men of Gleb, ready at dawn! So, instead of just capturing them, Gheb and his 3 dudes are apparently strong enough to wage war on an entire promoted army. Gameplay and story segregation, definitely. NEXT TIME: We finally get our increased numbers, phantoms, healers, and thieves back! The game increases its difficulty accordingly. Guys, I'm not sorry to say this, but I'm going on a VACATION, to get away from it all! So, I won't be able to update this thread for a few days. I'll probably be back monday, maybe sunday. See you all then!
TheMoniker
Well, after a FAR TOO SHORT waiting period, in which this topic ALMOST slipped off the front page and spared you all its insanity, it's time to get back into it! The CHAPTER 6 PRELUDE! It's kind of hard to play through this game without breaking SOME weapons. Back to normal... I head into the shops. Maybe it's the new version, but I'm fairly certain this wasn't here before... Since I have extra money, I totally grab it. I wonder if it's a siege tome? (For those of you who don't know, -- range means outside of the normal range displays. All we know is that it's NOT 1-2, 2, 1, 2-3, or 3-10.) We start our narration with a text skip, as per usual. N: Gerik runs with his tail between his legs as a result of such EPIC PWN. Unsure of where to go next, they stray into a fog ridden valley. "The Phantoms"? Unfortunately, this is actually a fitting title. Are you all ready for new and stupid game mechanics? Lute: The fog, the captives. Don’t you agree, senor Knoll? So, this is Knoll, our boss. His gimmick is that he speaks entirely in spanish. For some reason. Lute: Very well. You know what to do don’t you? I the prodigy can leave this to you, right? Knoll: Ciertamente, Lute. Lute: Capture the fat man alive. You may kill everyone else. You nave no excuses to fail. Knoll: No fallare, senora. Lute: Well, I shall vanish now. You guys got the gist of what he was saying, right? We come in, and are ambushed by Knoll, who has a Ross with him! Gheb: WTF! Who the fuck are you, emo-fag! Knoll: Lo siento, soy Knoll. I guess I have to... LIMITED SPANISH KNOWLEDGE, GO! "You are... Gheb... right?" Gheb: Lol, huh? Fuck, he’s fucking my ears, Lyon! He’s hurting my brain. Lyon: Gheby, calm down. What do you want? "I need... the... SOMETHING... immediately." Lyon: Uhhhhh… I simply cannot understand him either. Gheb: See!! Look, emo-fag! We’re gonna kill you and rip that frown of yar face! Knoll: Perdon? Lyon: He can understand us clearly, that far I can tell. Gheb: Doesn’t matter, fag, prepare to face PWN! Knoll: Ah, sera usted, el que recibira PWN. "You will(will you?), receive(female)... the PWN." Lyon: Um… so’s your mother? "Hehe, what... about... this"? Oh wow, he really DOES have a Ross with him! Knoll: *blah blah blah Spanish text skips I don’t care to type* Gheb: A hostage? LOL, meh.. Lyon: Ghebby!! Gheb: Wut? Lyon: The boy’s in danger. Gheb: Oh allright… just for you. "Hehe, I take... him!" Gheb: Yes, I heard you, hun… Lyon: I’ll go look for help. "He will be eaten by the(male plural)... local... monsters." Yeah, curse you, Knoll, making me go to all this translating effort! Gheb: You hear me, senior faggot? "No profanities... please." Knoll: No me toracas! "I don't... appreciate/like it?" This, I understand clearly. He says we'll die, and he laughs about it. We most certainly WILL die, the laughing is just unnecessary! Gheb: Uhhhhh!? What the heck is going on with these speech bubbles? Gerik, what were you trying to do? And what are you doing here!? We just beat you! Whatever it was, he failed. At least I don't have to translate anymore. Is Gerik our commander? What? (Dangit!) "Now child... know that death... is with you." Ross: Ungh! Knoll: Jajajajaja! "Hahahahaha!" Ross: Now what… He gets teleported to another journeyman... With, uh, Gerik!? And Gerik's over here now. Somehow. Gerik: !? Gheb: Fuck! You again?! Gerik: I was gonna ask the same thing, turd! Gheb: WTF are you doing here? Gerik: I’m gonna kill that faggot, Knoll. Gheb: ORLY? Gerik: YARLY. Gerik: SRSLY. But WHY, Gerik? You're on the same team! Gheb: … Look, bub. We gunna kill that emo-fag too. Maybe you can join our epic posse. Gerik: ….. turd… So, Gerik, you're only joining us because we're the lesser of the two turds? Honestly, how do you even know? We haven't even SEEN this "Gleb"! Gheb: Heheh, now bow down! Gerik: Don’t push it… Gheb: … you have some ninja skillz… I’ll cut you some slack… Gerik: … Don't worry Gerik, this is like one of those musician/artist commissions. You'll be rewarded with experience! Literally! END DIALOGUE Time to get started... this chapter is going to be a NIGHTMARE, almost equal to Chapter 5. We've got fog, tons of enemies, a time limit in the form of NPCs... I would just let them die, but I feel bad about missing the houses last chapter. I have to save them! I don't regret this. 10 dudes. I know this didn't turn out well last time, but I'm gonna try things without Caellach again. The sooner I can stop dumping XP into him, the better, honestly. ...So, quick question. Do any of you think we're... missing something? That's right! Ewan DIDN'T PROMOTE, like he was supposed to! I get really aggravated at this, and try to hack a Master Seal into his inventory, but I totally fail because I have no idea how. We're just going to have to wait and hope the game gives us a means of promoting him... So, this dude is interesting. He's actually a NEW character, like, NEW. No new characters joined us at this chapter in FE8, so this guy is like an "extra" character. I think I'll use him, since we need a good swordsman and he certainly doesn't seem bad. We're going to have to look at his growths, though. He's also got a present for us; our first promotion item! Great! Here's our position. And here's the map, which we can't really see much of. It seems there's only 2 NPCs now... One of them is a crazy citizen with an equally crazy staff there's no way to get. However, he DOES have a weapon... The other is Ross, who, surprisingly, has actual stats and a way to heal! The ally buff kinda surprises me, but maybe it'll help buy us time to save him! The only enemy we can see is, well, yeah. NEXT TIME: Holy crap! GROWTHS: Gerik: HP: ?? Strength: ?? Skill: ?? Speed: ?? Luck: ?? Defense: ?? Resistance: ?? Total: ??? Yeah... I have no idea what character slot this guy uses. Probably some generic one I don't want to go digging for.

Upside-DownFish
I guess it's TRANSLATION TIME NUMERO DOS Regular = game text Bold = Your translations Italics = My translations/commentary [spoiler=TRANSLATION TIME] "The Phantoms"? I would have gone for "The Ghosts" but yours works too Absolutely Knoll: Ciertamente, Lute. Certainly, Lute Knoll: No fallare, senora. I won't fail, ma'am Pardon me... Knoll: Lo siento, soy Knoll. Sorry, I'm Knoll. "You are... Gheb... right?" This one's correct. "I need... the... SOMETHING... immediately." I need you to give up, immediately. (It's also supposed to be spelled "rinden") Knoll: Ah, sera usted, el que recibira PWN. "You will(will you?), receive(female)... the PWN." It'll be you who receives the PWN "Hehe, what... about... this"? Hehe, now what will you do? "Hehe, I take... him!" Hehe, take him! "He will be eaten by the(male plural)... local... monsters." He'll be a meal for the local monsters. (monstruos is non-gender specific. Also the creator spelled it wrong) "No profanities... please." This one's good Knoll: No me toracas! "I don't... appreciate/like it?" Yeah "toracas" isn't a word and isn't close to any words I know. My best shot would be that he meant "tocas" (touch) in which case it would read "Don't touch me" This, I understand clearly. He says we'll die, and he laughs about it. We most certainly WILL die, the laughing is just unnecessary! Haha, Bingo on this one "Now child... know that death... is with you." Darrman was spelling my name wrong the WHOLE TIME!? And I didn't even NOTICE!? Darrman, you... have reduced my sanity index! You MONSTER, I have enough to deal with already! i think Gerik's data might be under "Saar" (the original chapter 5 boss) Yeah, I'll take a peek and see if it looks right. I guess it's TRANSLATION TIME NUMERO DOS Regular = game text Bold = Your translations Italics = My translations/commentary -snippy snip- So, I got it MOSTLY right! Right? Time to feel pain in... GhebFE: Episode 8: Chapter 6: Part 1: Foggy Flailing It can hold 9000? And here I thought it was only 100. (It's 100.) Colm creeps forward, revealing some enemies. It's clear that we're going to have to handle this slowly and carefully. With PHANTOM LURING! Colm's still being incredibly helpful and useful! Holy crap! See, this is where Gheb's training apparently pays off! Despite this cavalier's insane buffs, Gheb is so strong he can one-shot it anyway, crit or no! Albeit with an effective weapon, but still... Lure! Uh, okay... Maybe the lure didn't work out as intended... Second time around, I decide to give Batta some kills, since he missed out on the arena last time and all that. Wow... I mean, I just can't help but admire and take pictures of these stats, just because of how RIDICULOUS they are. WHOA WAIT WAIT I didn't see any WARRIORS around! Uh... there's still nothing near Batta!? Huh? Wait a minute... And THIS is where the chapter gimmick comes into play. So, while this was probably interesting and unique at the time, today it's just standard "discount ghosts". Take away the map sprite(with all the fake difficulty that implies) and call it a day! So, they tricked me once(luckily not lethally), and will probably do it a few more times... Let's just hope this is only a one-time thing. (Oh, and they're apparently promoted, with huge stats. I mean, look at the speed! They're invisible lightning bruisers!) Gerik kills the one we can see, and Colm spots another! Just look at this... even the PREISTS are insane! Nope! Oh, crap... CRAP. I totally forgot about the cavalier army that comes behind you! And I'm still all busy with the people in front! I can't handle BOTH! Apparently, Aura is the new Physic. The reinforcements come... we gotta RUN! Except we can't! We're surrounded on ALL SIDES! I decide to put off the task of dealing with tactics by visiting the village armory, apparently? This is all the shop has, a ridiculously expensive Prf lance with bad stats, and we have no idea who will ever get to use it, if anyone. Because I'm stupid and have a lot of cash, I buy it anyway. So, after lots(AND LOTS) of trying... I conclude that there's no way to win with the tactics I was using. My dudes are too weak. The enemy dues are too strong and numerous. We have to try something else. Okay, we're going to take the lower path this time, underneath the village. Having Private Phantom up constantly is the best way to deal with these ghosts/phantoms. Wa-GHEEEEEBBBB!!! YOU MISSED A 90, AND THEN DIDN'T EVEN DODGE THIS TO MAKE UP FOR IT SCREW YOU The cavaliers come again, but things are going much more smoothly this time. Bleh. Better! Amelia avenges alternate-universe Gheb! So, we still have SOME enemies to fight on this path, but it's nowhere near what we had to deal with if we just charged straight. I don't like to say it, but the best way to handle these cavaliers... is Gheb. Gheb prepares himself for the fight. Batta, however, does not. Batta: I’m not over yet! Yeah, he's dead. Amelia is slain by a myrm, who is 100% capable of doubling her even with an Iron Blade. And then I find out WHY... So, I have Amelia do things differently, and she survives by RNG abuse A MIRACLE Holy crap! What the heck!? How is ANYONE supposed to handle this? Looks like it's up to Gheb and... Raep her... here's to hoping the cavaliers(who are obscured by fog right now, they unfortunately didn't leave) will ignore my weaker dudes... Because I didn't have enough to worry about, it's MONSTER TIME! The engagement with the cavaliers goes kinda like this. And then by more RNG abuse ANOTHER MIRACLE, we survive an entire turn! This is the spider. It's... actually really weak! Like, crazy weak compared to the dudes we're fighting! I almost remember it being stronger in normal FE8... does the civilian and/or Ross actually stand a chance? It doesn't matter, I can't let them fight it. The only one who can get there in time is PRIVATE PHANTOM! It's time for an epic battle between the two biggest wimps on both teams! Gheb snags another level, which had resistance apparently? Yeah, Poison is a siege tome, albeit one with less range than a REAL siege tome. It's also really wimpy. Defenses? The spider continues his approach. This is... an interesting engagement... Riev crits! But it doesn't last. It doesn't last the second time, either. Batta re-gets his level. Dangit Batta! Yes, PLEASE DO distract yourselves with the healer! Not helping, Selena! NOT HELPING, SELENA! AGGGGHHHHHH I HATE THIS HACK HATE HATE HATE HATE OKAY. NEW PLAN. WE OBVIOUSLY CAN'T BEAT THE CAVALIERS. SO WE'RE GOING TO RETREAT INSTEAD. But I forgot about the ghost(who can totally fly BTW). And NOBODY IS SAFE. MUCH MIRACLES RNG ABUSING LATER I HAVE SOMEHOW MANAGED TO SURVIVE A TURN. WILL IT LAST. PROBABLY NOT. FIND OUT NEXT TIME. I'm not gonna lie to you guys here. There were TONS of offscreen deaths this chapter, the ones I showed were only a very small portion of them. I had to do TON of RNG abuse in the last few turns of this update. Considering the hack we're playing here, I'm not even a little bit ashamed. Honestly, this chapter almost requires it with all the insanity everywhere.
