Airship Canon
Thought 636 was huge in Awakening... Attacker can get +36 STR from all extraneous sources. [Mods, Buffs, etc. ignoring Character/support Pair Up stats] Effie!Jakob!Kanna is the attacker of choice. Bowfaire Odd Fang Dragon's Fang Line of Death Aggressor On a Ballistcian Adds up to 101 Attack before weapon on Odd Turns. Weapon is Killer Bow +7 18 MT, x4 Crits. vs. Worst possible DEF Peg so it's effective, 54 MT. 155 Enemy Debuffed with a Desperate Naginata as their weapon [can their stats go under zero?] [if so then the above is correct, it's over 1000] With Line of Death as one of their skills. Dragon's Fang Proc brings our attack to a lovely 232 and then the enemy has a -20 DEF due to debuffs and Line of Death. 252*4 = 1008. Only real way I see this happening is if it's set up for in a "PvP" match.

ReaperGuardian
I suppose it's too much to ask if it is possible to hit over 9000. Then again, pretty cool and good job that you managed to calculate this. As I hate math I pretty much skipped it all and thus believe this so long as no-one counters this. Great Geargia Gateway
This is why I have a heard time believing that this and Awakening is at all, strategy. I haven't played the game, so anything you say, I'll take your word for it. It's extremely emphasized on RPG in my view tho.
astrophys
That's not a particularly reasonable viewpoint to take, that said, because the conditions involved here are so extreme, so fabricated (what real opponent would really have such high defense), involve so much grinding beyond that which would be reasonable for completing the game, etc., that its not remotely representative of what "normal" gameplay in Fates would be. It also relies on a bunch of DLC, so that's even more stuff that wouldn't happen in the actual main game proper.

I haven't played the game, so anything you say, I'll take your word for it. It's extremely emphasized on RPG in my view tho. The main game? It's strategy based if you don't grind. There is a lot of managing resources, positioning, and tactical advantages. PvP? Well.... as long as we carefully manage what is possible, it's very likely PvP will be strategy based. (Random PvP won't be strategy based, it will be Alpha Strike based.)
Airship Canon
Strategy -> Overarching plan for victory. For a map, it's a general plan to clear the map. This is why I have a heard time believing that this and Awakening is at all, strategy. I haven't played the game, so anything you say, I'll take your word for it. It's extremely emphasized on RPG in my view tho. For the game, it's general plan to beat the game. Strategy is all the setup. It's resource management and planning. Regardless of how you approach, EVERY FE is a strategy game. There's some level of planning regardless of what you do. Fun thing to note: Grinding's actually a strategy. And as far as it goes, it's the best one. Tactics are the individual moves. They're much lower-- tactics change. And, yes, some games in the series are less tactically involved. And you can have a case where the strategy required eclipses the tactical several times over. [see: Apotheosis.] In this case, you don't have a point for either. The situation is basically fabricated. Awakening didn't have any problems with the fact that you could hit a target for 636 Damage-- to deal that massive overkill hit, you had to have a large setup. This is exactly that case. Of course, there does lie a problem. The alpha of the setup for the 1.1K hit is absurd. It's nearly 200 before procs, and approaching 300 with them. The highest theoretical defense can bring it down a few degrees, but once you factor procs- the only way even that lives is... Miracle. This... could see some practical implementation. Since it can one-hit kill even K!N!M class defense'd units... Not likely though, since there's more practical deployments for things. It's more practical than the 636 though, since Dragon's Fang is just a proc, as opposed to it being Vengeance and requiring setup.
Great Geargia Gateway
Fair enough. I also agree with your words (God you're good at this). I'm just overwhelmed by the amount of skills that are bent on doing 4 and 5 damage, +10 something and -10 something, 20% hp loss at the end of battle. I look this thinking the re-classing, grinding and skills make the game. The strategy is there, but it's not as depth as it used to be. Though the mechanics I think are more complex this installment, and it's true, to pull of "this" is pretty situational. But in the long run, a single critical leading to 70 - 80 dmg ohko anyway or one solid hit, Snake Venom activates and follows up an easy kill for another unit. Now I get that's a strategy, but it's skill based, that it doesn't really matter on the unit.
