I hate Generals

I only like it for Pavise. And I don't really like Kellam (sadly share my birthday with him)

Well, that was quick.

I disagree, I think Kellam is one of the more entertaining characters in the game despite his weird gimmick, he's funny and kind hearted.

And I think he's a decent tank. Good defense growth and modifier, access to the Pavise skill and Renewal, good to have early on in the game as a knight for tanking physical hits.

Overall, I think Kellam is a good character. But I'm wrong.

The thing about his gimmick is that it gets stale really quickly. I mean, almost every support conversation he has, I expect the other character to be doing something, and Kellam to somehow get involved with it without being noticed.

His modifiers aren't that special IMO, Frederick beats him in everything except Luck and 1 point in Defense.

If you don't use pair up is big DEF shines, but I'm still not keen on using him because I don't like him enough, and I feel like I have better units to train (in a No Pair Up No Grind situation). I went for a +DEF -MAG Avatar so I'd say I have enough slow tanks as it is.

The worst part about Kellam though, is that some actually think his "Can't be seen! LOL!!!" gimmick is funny and if you talk about him they go I'VE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A GUY, WHO IS HE??.

I'm okay with this in funny conversations but when it happens in serious and semi-serious ones I wish I had a different sense of humor.

Also sometimes in the game it's downright mean (see: all of his endings).

PSA to everyone: this isn't Gfaqs. Don't pretend like it is.

everyone not chrom/avatar/frederick sucks in lunatic anyways

Not so. Nowi is at the top of the top, while Panne, Sumia and Cordelia are also extremely good, while Lissa can draw from a free pool of exp starting instantly and in some situations can get up with Robin and Nowi in power. Stahl and Miriel are both good early-mid term investments as well, and that's not even getting into the kids (Lucina, Morgan and Laurent always rule, Severa, Yarne and Nah have decent chances of being good as well).

Things are more rigid in Lunatic+, but there's still a decently sized host of units who are legitimately good and worth training up.

Kellam's usefulness: he serves well on higher difficulties as a non-Fred +Def pairup (either for Fred when he's away from Robin, or Robin when he/she's away from Fred), but is rarely worth investing in. As a parent, he really in legitimately bad, having no children for whom he's the best in a minmax setting and very few (namely Inigo) for whom he can even be B tier. His -2 Spd is simply too much of a curse, and Tomefaire/Luna can't make up for it when Ricken exists. Were he to have a better third class than Thief and not be a net negative to all girls who wish to lead, he might be able to do something, but Kellam is simply fundamentally useless as a parent in the current meta.

Yeah, for a second I thought I was in fftf.

Anyway my opinion: Kellam is kind of pointless when Frederick exists. He's decent for distracting a bunch of myrmidons in the early chapters I guess.

No, I knew that. I was just playing along, that's why I said I was wrong.

And why I was shocked to see it. I thought I was in FFTF too, lol.

I don't like Knights much but pair up makes Kellam better than many of his predecessors (not amazing or anything, but okay enough), since he can pair up with someone more mobile and then they can switch to him when his tanking is needed. Works best with someone who already has good speed but could use more Str/Def, e.g. Sumia (would be an amazing combination if they could support), Sully, Cordelia, etc. Obviously he's not as good as Frederick but there's no shame in that.

As a character, I find his gimmick pretty funny. *shrug*

Actually, hes pretty decent as a thief too if you dont want a knight/gen but want a tanky thief. I only used him a couple of times and he functions pretty well for what he can do. Sure is better than Ricken.

I didn't even know Kellam was a character that evokes disdain. I mean he seems like such an inoffensive character that you either feel bad for him or you just ignore him (which is his in-story gag).

Then again I can't tell if the op sounds like gamefaqs on purpose or not.
