Ansem
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/ This was given to me as an assignment from my school. I thought it was interesting and wanted to share it. I'll post my results after a few of you post yours so I don't seem like a monster.
Integrity
oh man i remember this, i think i was biased slightly towards dark skinned people? and i don't remember the other one/s i took
Rizziah
I remember taking something like this for a Sociology class. I remember being biased towards LGBT people, and I think was about equal when it came to race. Can't really remember though.
King Garon
I'm biased against white people. That sounds like kind of weird for someone who is as pale and pasty as I am. Maybe I don't have any racial preferences? Although It just might be my subconscious trying to disguise my racial bias. I don't know. I don't even want to know. -Cynthia-
On the religion test I'm most negatively biased against Hindus apparently. That was surprising.
Ansem
i showed a preference for light skinned people and men in stem fields. when i first took it i was shocked at the latter results since i like to think i'm vocal on gender inequality, but i saw the former coming. I'm biased against white people. That sounds like kind of weird for someone who is as pale and pasty as I am. Maybe I don't have any racial preferences? Although It just might be my subconscious trying to disguise my racial bias. I don't know. I don't even want to know. there is a lot of calculations behind this. the test is now flawed at all. Ciarre
cool haven't looked at any of the other sections, but I'll check them out in a bit edit:[spoiler=bunch of different results]
Rehab
[spoiler=speculations about methodology/interpretation that might be in poor sport/not in the proper spirit of the study/spoilers?]I'm curious whether anxiety or having a "hey, wait a minute!" moment affects results, and if gaps in response times/brainfarts/interface bloopers (and people who make a lot of them) are accounted for. Also wondering if they're doing the kind of blind experiment where they're actually testing for something totally different from the given subject No, I'm not salty as fuck that I got strongly biased against black people and moderately against transgender people, why do you Fuckin ask
Ansem
p sure those are taken into account we all have unconscious biases, and it is okay to have them. what is not okay is consciously acting on them
Rapier
I... completely disagree with the tests. For example, I took the psychological ones first, since I'm more interested about the mind than about politics. I have low self-esteem yet the test said I lean more toward good opinions on myself rather than bad opinions, and the depression test first said I leaned more toward happy then that there wasn't a side I was particularly leaning on to (on the second time), and that is coming from a person who answered negatively to most of the questions. On the political test, I only did one, the racial test. It said I'm moderately more favorable to white people than to black people. Maybe this is accurate, even though I believe I don't care about color and gender or, if I do, only a bit. There's a chance this test didn't work out for me because my mind's too slow to react (read the word and press the according button). This is probably it. To be honest, I think this is the flaw within the test: It requires quick reaction times, and quick reaction times makes us prone to more mistakes, which potentially lead to wrong results. Knight Falchion
I ran the white/black one a couple of times and leaned slightly towards black the first time and slightly towards white the second, and if I'm being completely honest with myself the second one is more accurate. :/ The religion test resulted in a weak preference for Judaism which was ??? and a moderate negativity towards Christianity which was expected. Gay vs straight resulted in a moderate preference for gay; gender-STEM resulted in moderate association of females with STEM and males with liberal arts. I made a whole lotta mistakes on all the IATs I took though; I should probably try again when I'm less tired and see if that changes anything. Rehab
[spoiler=e:]Don't mean to post that only as a HA! TAKE THAT! etc, just that between the two of you ONE must be having a giggle, iddinit
Rapier
Of course it isn't, hence why I said it didn't work well for me because of stuff I have problems with, whereas quick thinking people should've been better at it. I'm taking the test with a grain of salt, as all psychological tests (or, at least, tests that analyze behavior) should.
Radiant head
These types of tests already sound fishy as hell.
Original Alear
I gave up on the first test I was taking. It was the one where you type "I" if the word is tied to alcohol and "E" if it is not. It tells you when you're wrong, but in a pretty arbitrary manner. For instance, "sober" was not considered a proper match with alcohol, presumably because it has other meanings and contexts. But then, even though intoxication doesn't necessarily match with alcohol, the test indicated to me that it was in fact a match for alcohol. After that I was like "fuck this." Loki Laufeyson
I took that once. It said i had a slight bias toward black/PoC. It isnt actually inaccurate either. Im less inclined to trust a perfectly manicured looking white person. Or certain white features spell really bad news in my mind.
Zerosabers
Well I didn't learn anything really unpleasant about myself. Your data suggest little to no automatic preference between Gay People and Straight People. Your data suggest little to no automatic preference between European American and African American. I actually expected a preference to gay people but got neutral.
Refa
[spoiler=Enter The Refaist] Your data suggest no automatic preference between White people and Black people. The pairing probably did not influence your ratings: You DID NOT rate the words that were paired with pleasant images as more positive than the words that were paired with unpleasant images. Your data suggest a strong automatic association of Jennifer with Homemaker. Your data suggests a moderate association of Female with Career and Male with Family compared to Male with Career and Female with Family (0.3%). Your data suggest strong automatic preference for Transgender over Cisgender. Your implicit data suggest that you moderately indentify more with ABSTAINING than DRINKING. Your implicit data suggest that you moderately associate DANGEROUS more with PHYSICALLY ILL PEOPLE than MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE. I feel like my data makes me seem more progressive than I actually am, but whatever.
Freohr Datia
Soooooo I am half Native American and half caucasian. I took one test.... that says I strongly associate White -> American and Native American -> Foreign I can see growing with my white dad surrounded by white people for at least half of my life (black and white for the other half) rather than my native american mother on a native american reservation had some influence on me
eclipse
I. . .might have broken my test. . .whoops. peener weener
i vaguely remember getting bias towards black people, plus i just took the religion test and got preference for buddhism and islam over christianity and judaism. also i got preference for straight people lmao
blah the Prussian
I am moderately biased towards white people. However, I should mention that I live in the rightful lands of the Hapsburg Empire Czech Republic, which doesn't exactly have a massive African population. Its interesting how so much of the conversation centered around race doesn't apply in Europe.
