Peanut Butter
I haven't found much info regarding the vanguard emblem. I read that you can get it in Vanguard's Trial Map dlc but that is about it. I was hoping if someone could tell me if the class is gender exclusive and if it can be obtained once per save file like the other emblems. Shinehollow
All I know is that the class is gender exclusive because it's Ike's class. Some people think it's stupid, but once you realize why,it's kinda smart.

Anacybele
Before Fates, Ike was the only character that ever had access to the class. And, well, he's a guy. xP
Original Alear
Before Fates, Ike was the only character that ever had access to the class. And, well, he's a guy. xPBut at the same time, it's not like pegasus knights (for example), which had some support conversations etc explaining they only accept women riders (ya, I know there were male peg riders in enemy forces in FE 3 or something). There was never a suggestion that Yune promoted Ike principally because he was a guy or something. (Or, if there was, I missed it)

Folt
Then Grandmaster & Great Lord being gender exclusives are not that smart since there are female Grandmasters, & Chrom was a Great Lord The gender restrictions appear to be based more on the how the character appears in Fates, rather than anything from their own game. An in-game reason could be explained as the Emblems containing the powers and experience of that character, rather than taking from every character who has the same class, which fits since Great Lord has been used by many lords and all of them have different capabilities from one another, whether in weapon choice, stat differences, or something else.
