Birthright vs. Conquest?

Okay Fire Emblem fans, I have a question for you. Despite all the adverts and interviews I've read, one question in particular has been left unanswered for me: do the DLC for the alternate storylines alter the core gameplay mechanics in any way?

Let me be more specific: I've read that Birthright has same-sex marriages available for women, while the opposite is true for Conquest. What I want to find out is if I were to buy Birthright and then purchase Conquest and Revelations, would the marriage system still be the same? Would the Conquest DLC change the marriage system or even add onto it? Or would the Birthright marriage system stay the same and Conquest/Revelations would only add to the story?

I have no info on this so I welcome any advice you an give me. Thanks ahead of time.

Everything stays exactly the same regardless of your method of purchase. More specifically, there is one girl in Birthright and one guy in Conquest that you can marry regardless of gender, and that never changes.
