Moliblazer
So I've noticed that the samurai and swordmasters in this game, when equiped with a katana, wear it on their hilts with the edge pointed up. This really urks me for some reason. It just seems impratical and it doesn't flow well with their animations. Is this something that is historically accurate or useful in some way? I've always seen the katana depicted with the edge pointing down and thought it was that way so the drawing motion would also double as an attack... A google search didn't give me any answers, so can anyone clarify this for me?
Shadow Knight
Historically drawing the sword was considered an integral part of japanese swordsmanship. It even has it's own Style: Iaido. But the edge was pointed upwards, not downwards. The reason why reflects the main idea behind Kenjutsu and Kendo, Counter/dodge/parry than attack. Omegaprism
Also, from a practical standpoint, the edge faces up so the samurai doesn't scrape the business end of their katana against their scabbard every time they draw and sheath their weapon.
