Glitch in my Fire Emblem Fates file?

OK, so in my Revelations file I'm currently trying to max out every characters stats, but I've noticed that characters would sometimes have their stats dropped for no reason, even when I have them maxed out. I've checked multiple times to make sure their stats are green, and then out of nowhere their stats decrease.

It's happened a few times and it's starting to annoy me.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

Do they actually decrease (like go from 31 to 30) or are they just no longer green? Also have you been building statues in your My Castle? Those statues effect unit's caps (increasing them) so stats that were once maxed are now less than the max.

Yes, they usually decrease from let's say 44 to 43. And yes, I have been building statues, but I thought those only affect stats in MyCastle battles?

They affect stats everywhere, I'm pretty sure. Have you been using pair ups? Those temporarily increase stats, and when you separate the units the stats will go back down to their actual number. For example, I pair my Forrest with sorc!Ophie. Forrest's mag temporarily goes up by 7. I separate them, his mag goes back down. That could be what's happening to you.

I do pair units up, but the stat drops don't happen in battle, they just randomly decrease.

Are the following possible causes?

*Promoting/Reclassing: When characters reclass, their stats will all change to be equal to what their new class's stats would have been for base/max stats. Serenes Forest has a list for max stats on every class and modifiers that influence max stats. With modifiers and max stats changing, stats don't remain the same, they'll change whenever you change to another class.

*Tonics: Until you complete another battle (post-results), the effects of tonics fade away. If you use tonics and haven't done another fight yet, the effects remain.

*Debuffs: In-battle only. When debuffed, stats (bar the HP stat) will decrease accordingly to the weapon's effect that caused the debuff.

*Pair-Ups (as lordcorrin stated): These only last in-battle and disappear after the entire battle has ended or those units are no longer in a pair-up. Stats change per pair-up.

*Weapon buffs: Some weapons will increase/decrease the user's stats either as an held and/or in the inventory effect (such as that of Siegfried and Raijinto grant their effects that boost their respective stats when equipped/being in the owner's inventory). Others will debuff certain stats of the user after use (such as the S-Rank weapons) until the debuff wears off when the recovery methods are met.

It's actually none of those. Turns out it's the statues that have been causing the stat decreases.

Oh, so were you removing some statues without realizing that doing so would start to decrease the affected stats? I've had that issue before and I still forget at times that there are some statues I can't afford to remove.

If you remove a statue, then put it back, do you get the increased stat back, or do you have to level it up again?

From my own save files, anything that is leveled up and is removed, should you wish to put said statue or building or landholder back, it returns at the same level that it was last at. So removing a level 3 building or statue causes said building or statue to return at level 3.

Thank you, but I was wondering if say you have a Speed Stat increasing Statue and remove it, bringing your max Speed down to 36 from 37, does it go back to 37 when you rebuild the statue, or does it stay at 36?

Statistically, if a character such as that has maxed speed and has it's speed stat increased by 1, removing it drops the speed stat by 1 point while returning it will increase the speed stat back up by one point. If you have something that modifies the speed stat via tonics or certain weapons, it will still show the difference in increase/decrease.
