So does anyone else make up their own cannon sometimes? Here is an example of what I mean. I married Lissa In my game, and I realized that Owain's outfit looked a lot like Lon'qu, so I came up with the head canon that after Robin became Grima (note I am not done and in pretty sure that's what happened in the messed up future Lucina is from. Please don't reply with a spoiler to prove me wrong, because I really want to find out myself.) that Mkrgan being the daddy's girl she is tried to follow in Robin's footsteps, and even when he was still there she wanted to be like him, however Owain's following my logic that he would be a momma's boy that he wouldn't really have been interested in following in robins footsteps, so when Robin left he looked for a father figure for himself, and wanted to learn how to fight to protect Lissa, and Morgan. So he looked to Lon'qu for training.

I think everyone has their own head canon for the FE games because there are so many different supports. Like I ship SethxErika and have a whole head canon about them having a kid and what happens to said kid in the aftermath of the horrible "disaster" that is supposed to happen. I have several more, but that is the one that I have fleshed out the most.

Only thing that is problematic with your headcanon is that both use the generic myrmidon outfit. So really it could be anyone, heck Owain could be self taught for all we know. However, Lon'qu is the most likely the biggest candidate but it might be as well Hubba that trained Owain and the other children.

As for myself I have several headcanons depending I'm playing male or female Robin.

I think everyone has headcanons for these sort of things mostly to also explain things that are left vague or unexplained as Fire Emblem tends to do alot of. There was a fanart comic of Lon'qu as Owain's dad and it was great.
