Katie
So it turns out I forgot to remove myrrh's dragonstone, so I went ahead and fixed that, and made a new patch. I added the link to it to the OP, it's the v2.1 patch.
Fateborn
Uhm... why is it txt. file? Oh I see, a different kind of patcher... that's new. Hmm, can't quite patch the rom, it'd stay the same old fe8. Edited April 29, 2016 by Fateborn

Hmm, can't quite patch the rom, it'd stay the same old fe8. It shouldn't be a txt file. It's an xdelta file. You use delta patcher to patch it. Fateborn
Yeah, the issue is, I found a xdelta patcher, there were 3 "link", first one is patcher, the 2nd one is clearly the rom since it's source, but the third one is huge question for me since it clearly cause me trouble. eclipse
TC, can you do a standard NUPS instead? No matter how "good" this is, I'm not going to download some esoteric patching software just to play it.
Katie
I just released an updated version. Lyon starts in a base class now! Specifically, the unused female shaman class! he already looks like a girl anyway It's labelled version 2.5 in the OP. And since there's a demand for it, I'll go ahead and make a UPS version of the patch too, and/or an IPS one.
Katie
I've uploaded a UPS version for you guys. EDIT: Also note that I let Lyon keep staves as a Shaman. This is because you don't get another healer until chapter 9 when you get L'Arachel. Edited April 29, 2016 by Matthewtheman
Fateborn
Kyle doesn't have weapons on the map you recruit him in Eirika path. You may also want to fix Ephraim's spawn on eirika map (Cormag slot) Foot unit can't climb mountain ;) Edited April 30, 2016 by Fateborn
Katie
I made a new patch which changes the recruitment requirements to being talked to with Myrrh on Eirika's path and Cormag on Ephraim's path. They're both fliers, so they can reach him. The patch is labelled 2.7. I'll take a look at that Kyle thing. EDIT: I fixed the Kyle thing, but I don't think that in an of itself is worthy of a new patch, so I won't release a new patch just yet. Katie
I made a new patch! In addition to fixing the Kyle issue, Hayden now starts as an Archer instead of a Mercenary, and with the same bases. I also noticed I had accidentally given Hayden the ability to wields bows and swords right from the start, which I fixed, so now he only starts with a weapon rank in bows. The main reason for the change is so you'll have someone who can actually use chapter 7's ballista. And Paradigm, make sure you finish the draft before upgrading to this patch, because I had to boosts Hayden's base Skl, Spd, and Def, to make up for the difference in class bases between Merc and Archer, so it'd end up giving your Hayden a boost in those stats too, which obviously wouldn't be fair. His class wouldn't change though.
Katie
All right guys, I made a new update, this one with substantial changes. Here's what I can think of off the top of my head: -Lyon got his bases and promotion gains slightly changed. -All the bosses who were creature campaign units have been replaced by their replacements, i.e. instead of fighting Lyon you'll be fighting Eirika, instead of fighting Riev you'll be fighting Garcia, etc. -Tomes have had their weight reduced to FE6 levels. This should make Knoll MUCH better. Now he can wield Nosferatu without being weighed down. -Ismaire, Marisa, and Joshua can now wield the Rapier and Sieglinde. Now they won't just sit there uselessly in your inventory. -The Rausten Court World Map secret shop now sells the four monster slaying weapons, Juna Fruits, and Hammernes. -Promotion items have had their durability reduced to 2. -Ephraim no longer starts in areas you can't reach without a flier. His recruitment requirements have returned to normal due to this. That's all I can think of atm. I hope I got everything. Anyway, enjoy! DruidSorc64
Say, would you mind if I added in some palettes for this? Since it isn't very interesting, only Fado and Knoll having palettes. Would you also mind if I updated the descriptions?
Katie
Say, would you mind if I added in some palettes for this? Since it isn't very interesting, only Fado and Knoll having palettes. Would you also mind if I updated the descriptions? That'd actually be really cool. I'd like to point out that Fado and Knoll aren't the only ones with palettes, they're just the only early game units with palettes, as most of your early game units are former pre-promotes, who lack palettes for their base class since they were never meant to be in a base class to begin with. If you promote them into their original class(like Selena into a Mage Knight, for example), they'll have a unique palette, though if you change them into their other promotion, they'll still have a generic palette. But yes, I'd love to have unique palettes for everyone. Here's a list of who needs what palettes: Lyon needs a palette as a shaman. (I'd just edit the default generic female shaman colors, since he is the only "female" shaman in the game) Valter needs palettes for Wyvern Rider and Wyvern Lord. Hayden needs palettes for Archer and Sniper. Gled needs palettes for Wyvern Rider and Wyvern Knight. Selena needs palettes for Mage and Sage. Ismaire needs palettes for Myrmidon and Assassin. Riev needs palettes for Monk and Sage. Caellach needs palettes for Fighter and Warrior. Syrene needs palettes for Pegasus and Wyvern Knight. Duessel needs palettes for Cavalier and Paladin. Rennac needs palettes for Thief and Assassin.(Due note that since I replaced the Assassin animation with a custom female animation, you may not want to bother with Assassin. I doubt many people will promote him into Assassin anyway) Saleh needs palettes for Mage and Mage Knight. Dozla needs palettes for Pirate and Warrior. Innes needs palettes for Archer and Ranger. And that's it. Everyone else already has a unique palette for all their available classes.

Should I remember correctly, there are two Assassin animations in FE8, one for males (the first one), and one for females (the second one.) If you'd like, I would be honored to restore the male Assassins to their former glory. In any case, I actually have some ready for use, and others will not be hard to make. Thank you for this opporitunity. I will be posting screens of the palettes as made. (Also, since you're going by Eirika's route's order of recruitment, I think Dozla should be a Brigand and not a Pirate, but that's just me :p) Edited to include palette demonstrations. Archer Innes Ranger may be impossible to make at this time, if ever. I just straight up replaced it because Marisa's the only Assassin you get anyway assuming one promotes Ismaire and Rennac into their intended classes. You could go ahead and bring back the male Assassin animation if you want, but I personally wouldn't bother since Rennac's literally the only one who would use it, and most people will probably make him a Rogue anyway. FE8 doesn't even have generic enemy Assassins that could use it. Making Dozla a Brigand is certainly an interesting idea which I will consider. The palettes look nice btw. DruidSorc64
Thanks! I really do enjoy making these, and to see them go to a real cause is something I've always wanted! And, as for why I suggested Brigand!Dozla over Pirate, not only does it fit better thematically, but also making a Pirate palette is something extremely difficult for me to do. Mage Selena Sage Selena (Note that I could only use the Male Sage for a base, although cross checking with the female wasn't very hard) Myrmidon Ismaire (Another male base) Another problem with the female Assassin is that palette construction will be another issue that may be impossible to make. Warrior Dozla Brigand Dozla Wyvern Lord Valter (the wyverns were the most difficult ones to make) The Wyvern Riders. Left is Glen, Right is Valter. Wyvern Knight Glen Monk Riev Sage Riev And that's not all... I have successfully gotten both Assassin animations in! (The left is a Thief, the right is a female Myrmidon.) (Which reminds me; would you mind if I edited the skill names for a modern reapplication? Lethality, Locktouch, Luna (might stay pierce), Hawkeye (might stay Sure Strike)...) Mage Knight Saleh Mage Saleh Cavalier Duessel Paladin Duessel What is this? It is the closest thing I could find for a base for Ranger Innes. Katie
Nice work. I think Dozla will be a Brigand then, since you've made a palette for it. I'l leave you up to it, since you're making so many changes already that I think you should just send me a patch with all the changes atp, which I'd then link to in the OP. I assume you're familiar with Nightmare, yes? Thankfully, Brigand is already programmed to be able to promote into Warrior or Berserker, just like Pirate, so all you'd need to do is edit his bases to account for the difference in class bases between Pirate and Brigand, so that his bases stay the same. He'll need one less HP and Str, and one more Skl and Spd. Leave Con alone. Aside from palette pointer editing. (Which reminds me; would you mind if I edited the skill names for a modern reapplication? Lethality, Locktouch, Luna (might stay pierce), Hawkeye (might stay Sure Strike)...) Why not? I call them by their modern names anyway. I'd leave Sure Strike alone though, because that's a separate skill that happens to share a similar but slightly different function. DruidSorc64
You had stated that you wanted Colm to be an Assassin, and it was the female Assassin thing that stopped you, no? If such is true, I do believe I could return him to his former state. Also, in order to have the new Dozla be properly functional, I will be adding Brigands to the Hero Crest list. EDIT TO INCLUDE A NEW ISSUE | | V The Wyvern Riders and Lords have borked palettes in the ROM. Strangely, not the Wyvern Knights. I used to, but lately I've found I actually prefer rogue Colm, so I want him to stay as is. Why not put Brigands in the Ocean Seal list? That one makes more sense to me. I hope you fix the Wyvern palette issue, but it's not the end of the world if you don't.
