PizzaRice
I plan on making a Ballistician Ignatious soon but theirs a few things im still a bit confused about. - Skill and speed. Are these useless? ive only fought another ballistician online once and they dont attack like other units do. - For skills, i plan on sticking aegis, pavis and wary fighter on him. What other skills are useful? - Ballisticians cant pair up, can they? - Who is a good mother for Ignatious? Camilla, Mozu, Azura and Elise are already taken. I was thinking Peri. Roflolxp54
Skill is still useful in procing skills (like Opportunity Shot) and landing attacks. Speed isn't as useful due to the low Speed cap but it's still worth capping it to help you dodge attacks (if possible) and to avoid being doubled by classes with similar Speed caps (like opposing Ballisticians or Generals). Have a look at the Ballistician skills, of course! Other skills worth noting include Bowfaire (free +5 damage due to being bow-locked) and Warp (can effectively bypass the 4(no Surefooted skill and no Boots)-7(with Surefooted skill and 2 Boots) movement range. Ballisticians can pair up. As the rear unit, a Ballistician provides +3 STR, +1 SKL, +2 LCK, +1 DEF, and +1 RES. For possible mothers, focus on STR and/or SKL. I'm honestly fond of Charlotte or Effie being the mother for the massive STR cap mod though they may be in demand by other children units. If that ever happen, the attacking unit could never live it down lol. Hmm if it can pair up, maybe giving it both unities could help? Hmm if it can pair up, maybe giving it both unities could help? You mean Hoshidan Unity and Nohrian Trust? I honestly don't see them worthwhile on the lead Ballistician as the Ballistician's gimmick is to spam AoE attacks, not be a frontline unit. Plus, you'd want to have Point Blank so a Ballistician can attack at 1 range if not using the Shining Bow or the Mini Bow. There's also the fact that Ballisticians are not only slow (Speed cap of 25 before mods and statues) but also have rather low Defense and Resistance caps, which are 27 and 26 respectively before stat cap mods and statues. For rear unit, Ballistician seems to try to do too many things at once for a physical lead. A potentially better rear unit for a physical lead would be one that is a Berserker, which provides +5 STR and +3 SPD.
sirmola
FYI, the ballista comand uses your attack power and (i think) accuracy without applying debuffs to the user, or counting "plus x to damage" skills like bowfaire. This makes the turret command best used with silver weapons in most cases. Effective damage is still calculated, the shining bow still deals magic damage, and setsuna's yumi still applies its debuff. However, balistas always leave you at at least 1 hp, and give you no exp, so you want to be competent at normal combat so that you can level up.
