Mysteryshadow5`
In each game there are enough units to use for the largest battles, then each father has 1 child, plus Kana, and Shigure. I'm having trouble picking units for maps lol. This is a little off the subject but what should Shigure be doing? Hinoka is a great kinshe, and his magic would make him a poor Falcon knight. Not to mention Azama's child, and Kana are my primary healers. He is Kaze's child, and I have all my dlc items available except for ebon wings. Katie
You should try Radiant Dawn or FE12. Especially the latter, where the max number of units allowed in a given chapter is like 12 or so but you have 77(iirc) playable characters.
Mysteryshadow5`
Ouch... both the game cube and wii games I missed. 77 characters? Were the characters developed at all? Edited June 21, 2016 by Mysteryshadow5`
Krovarion
Characters from PoT were, it was a really good cast. Those introduced in Radiant Dawn aren't, sadly, which is one of my biggest complain against RD. For Fates, I think the cast is mostly well developed, so the number of characters isn't a problem. And you're not supposed to play every one of them, just pick your favorites. The fact that the game is in 3 parts allow you to try different characters, which is nice. Falcon Knight aren't meant to be main healers, so low magic isn't that important. They are fighter, staves are just a bonus. He can still be useful as a "when you fucked up" healer, because thanks to his high mov., he can easily heal any of your units a little when in emergency. So, if you want to use him as a flying unit, Falcon Knight isn't a bad choice. Or you can reclass him into something else. Res
I love that there's a large cast. I think every run-through I've chosen a different set of characters to concentrate on. Unlocking the hundreds of supports makes for some great replayability. I've so far sunk 400+ hours into Fates and I'm still seeing something new each time. Rezzy
I think it's only Revelations that seems to have character bloat, in Conquests and Birthright, the roster's are pretty manageable. Radiant Dawn wasn't different in that it had a ton of characters, but the armies were so divided that you pretty much forced to use a bunch of the underdeveloped characters for a majority of the game. And by the time you get your army together and would have been able to pick which ones you like from each group, they unload a dozen Royals on you, pretty much making everybody else obsolete. This pretty much, hell Rev suffers from the same problem of a metric fuckton of characters, and then you get the Royals who render everyone else obsolete. I love that there's a large cast. For reference, endgame rev has 13 slots, and you have 9 OP royals (10, counting azura's ability to make any royal twice as OP).
TheVaike98
The only problem I faced (and kinda "still facing") is the number of paralogues in Revelation due to the number of characters that can have a child. But having a big cast isn't a big deal. It gives you the option to use characters you like (so you are not forced to use only few characters that maybe you don't like)
Captain Karnage
FE 1 and 3 and their respective remakes were made with ironmaning in mind
Shadow Mir
FE 1 and 3 and their respective remakes were made with ironmaning in mind What makes you think that? Because unless the devs themselves said that, that doesn't sound like something I'd believe.

maetropa
Does anyone have an actual list of numbers of how many recruitables are in each game?
Jedi
1 and 3 may have had that in mind but 11 and 12 weren't by Kaga, and I doubt you'd want to legit Ironman H5 or Lunatic in 12.
Raguna
Yeah, it's just 1 and 3. Everything afterwards gives you more liberty. That's why you can field so all your units and have enough space in between enemies to fight in Genealogy.
