The Envoy of the Beginning
After reading some reviews, listened to opinions, and played the game, I came to this conclusion: I personally believe this game is overrated. It's good but the later ones (specifically, 3, 5, 6, and 9) are better in my opinion. I just don't see how Mega Man 2 is godly as people put it to be. Nintenlord
A) MM2 had better Robot Masters than any other MM afterwards. B) MM2 has better music than the rest of the series. C) MM2 had better level design than the rest of the series. While it is possibly to debate 3 to be better than 2, I'd like to see your reasoning why 5, 6 or 9 are better. Metal Rabbit
I liked 3 better, but that's just me. It was the only one I could beat.
The Envoy of the Beginning
A) MM2 had better Robot Masters than any other MM afterwards.I disagree. Many of them were easy to beat except Airman without his weakness. Not to mention some of MM2's masters look weird. B) MM2 has better music than the rest of the series. Again, I disagree. I find 3/5/6/9 to have more advanced, more catchy music. C) MM2 had better level design than the rest of the series. Can't really see that. All of the levels don't stand out in 2, save for Quickman's Level (damn laser beams of instant death). While it is possibly to debate 3 to be better than 2, I'd like to see your reasoning why 5, 6 or 9 are better. The latter 8-bit Mega Man games had better graphics, music, and sound, though I dislike 4's music. I liked the addition of Rush in 3, Beat in 5, and the special jet and power abilities in 6. And the ability to slide in 3 and afterwards, along with the charging of your Mega Buster in 4 and afterwards. I didn't like 4 and 8 that much, (4 due to easiness and boring-ness, and 8 for looking too weird and being boring) and 9 was already proving to be awesome. 7 was all right though. Camus The Dark Knight
I liked 1-4, 5-7 were not as great, but still good. I don't care for 8 really, haven't tried 9.

Quickman was crazy fast and Crashman constantly guarded your attacks. I haven't played it in a while, so that's all I remember. The music may be more advanced, but I fail to see how it's more catchy. Crashman's Stage's song was awesome, and the boss selection music never sounded better. Mega Man 9 uses the same sound system, and you consider it's music more advanced. Wtf? Most levels in the other games were very standard when it came to Mega Man. Generic Platforming-ish levels at the time. A bunch of blocks, some random enemies, and pits. At least some Mega Man 2 stages were original, such as Quick Man's. Well, of course it had better graphics and some new features. It's an NES game, for God's sake! Do you consider SMS better than SM64 because the graphics are better and you can ride Yoshi? No!
sandmanccl
The music in the series went downhill after 3. MM4's music was just bad all around. 5 had some good tunes, but they had too many midi layers going and it actually detracted from the awesomeness. 6 was just a bland game because the level design was downright sloppy. Saying any of the later games had better graphics is silly because it's the exact same freakin' graphics engine. One of the reasons MM2 is great is because it's simple. They started adding too many features in later games, which made it less fun. The slide introduced in MM3 single-handedly made the games more easy. It gave you a quick boost of speed to dodge things you normally had to really test your skills against. MM2 is one of the best games of all time. Celice
The second has the best hacks period ~_~ I like it, as it was more of the same, with less things added. Afterwards, it just seemed different to me.
The Envoy of the Beginning
The second has the best hacks period ~_~ I'll admit that, though many of them have kicked my ass. Especially Rockman 2 Minimum.
Celice
I got towards the end of that one on the actual NES system. Gotta love flashcarts ~_~
Ike-Mike
3 added Rush and Protoman, the useful slide technique, 4 more stages together with rematches against improved MM2 Robot Masters and an all-new set of Robot Masters. The skull robots and the ending gave the first three games a strong sense of continuity. I think the later Mega Man games suffered a bit by not further having this continuity and many Robot Masters just being rehashes of the older ones. 5 had sloppy level design in some places, but it was still fun to play. While the Robot Master weapons were useful in some situations, the Mega Buster was still in both power and range most of the time. 6 is downright broken after you get the Rush Adapters. 9 really perfected everything from past Mega Man games and paves the way for retro graphics as a legitimate art style. Even when they reused old Robot Master themes and weapons, they perfected them. It is my favorite Mega Man game. My only gripe is that Wily fortress 4 just shoves too much at you. While the outcry for Mega Man 2 being the best is dying down, it is still agreed upon that 2, 3 and 9 is the trifecta of awesome 8bit Mega Man games.
