BANRYU
Edited the thread title to make it more relevant to what I wanted to actually discuss. I just wanted to make a thread to discuss the uses of the various weapons that can only be obtained through the Battle/Visit rewards, or being randomly found and whatnot. Does not include the S-rank weapons or anything you can buy from a shop, if that wasn't clear enough by the thread title. Depending on how frequently you get certain items, you can potentially get some pretty crazy forges. Maybe I'll make a tier list of how useful they all are lol. List of the Unbuyable Weapons Spoiler Hoshido - Daikon Radish - Parasol - Sunrise Katana - Takumi's Shinai - Hana's Katana - Hinata's Katana - Bamboo Pole - Pine Branch - Raider Naginata - Bold Naginata - Hinoka's Spear - Subaki's Pike - Oboro's Spear - Carp Streamer - Hoe - Adamant Club - Rinkah's Club - Ryoma's Club - Fuga's Club - Bamboo Yumi - Harp Yumi - Raider Yumi - Spellbane Yumi - Sidelong Yumi - Mikoto's Yumi - Setsuna's Yumi - Chopstick - Hair Pin - Caltrop - Kaze's Needle - Saizo's Star - Kagero's Dart - Paper - Malevolent Text - Monkey Spirit - Bird Spirit - Ink Painting - Izana's Scroll - Lantern - Dumpling Rod - Bamboo Branch - Sakura's Rod - Purification Rod Nohr - Bottle - Umbrella - Nohrian Blade - Leo's Iceblade - Selena's Blade - Laslow's Blade - Ganglari - Broom - Stick - Hexlock Spear - Xander's Lance - Effie's Spear - Peri's Lance - Frying Pan - Bone Axe - Raider's Axe - Berserker's Axe - Camilla's Axe - Beruka's Axe - Arthur's Axe - Rubber Bow - Violin Bow - Cupid Bow - Hunter's Bow - Anna's Bow - NIles' Bow - Quill Pen - Stale Bread - Raider Knife - Votive Candle - Sacrifical Knife - Felicia's Plate - Jakob's Tray - Pebble - Ember - Disrobing Gale - Speed Thunder - Moonlight - Iago's Tome - Odin's Grimoire - Candy Cane - Mushroom Staff - Bouquet Staff - Elise's Staff - Lilith's Staff Weapon Stats: http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_weapons_in_Fire_Emblem_Fates Attempting a tier list (WIP) Spoiler A-Tier = The best weapons outright, have distinctions that no other normally-obtainable weapon can match Felicia's Plate: magic shuriken that can crit and activate procs. Less of an Avoid penalty than most magic weapons as well. Fuga's Club: Strong and accurate and more efficient at killing than Silver on units whose speed is pushed over the edge by the +3 Effie's Lance: its monstrous might is well worth the speed and accuracy penalties. Generals (or any other units with Wary Fighter) can wield its awesome might drawback-free. Saizo's Star / Kaze's Needle: -1 might and +5 accuracy compared to Iron, its debuffs are decent and the rally activations are amazing on a shuriken-- and it doesn't hurt that they affect 2 of the most important offensive stats. B-Tier = Better than some normal weapons and practically always worthwhile Raider Weapons: strongest E-rank weapons; more power than bronze stuff and gives +3 speed, and most look pretty cool to boot. Amazing for training new weapon ranks Nohrian Blade / Sunrise Katana: extremely useful early-game for keeping units alive in respective modes where they're available, and can be pretty good when forged in Conquest/Revelations Arthur's Axe: Less accurate than Iron, but stronger and with extra Defense. Equal in strength to Steel (without drawbacks) when forged once, so really good in general. Camilla's Axe: Moderately strong for an axe and very accurate, and +2 Res is very nice. Str/Skill debuff afterward is inconvenient, but it has enough going for it to overlook this. Subaki's Pike: decent D-rank weapon in its own right, but can be monstrous if forged. Umbrella / Parasol / Peri's Lance: 1-2 range weapons that can crit and activate procs, which is pretty good despite their low might. Acceptable (if not optimal) for enemy phase tanking if the unit is fast enough to avoid being doubled. C-Tier = Mediocre. Weapons that are situational or have a few drawbacks, but are still worth using in some instances. Leo's Iceblade: magic sword that can crit and proc, but only has 1-range and user suffers stat penalties. Useful, but arguably no better than a Levin Sword on some units. Takumi's Shinai / Niles' Bow: Worth a mention due to their ability to feed kills to weaker units, as well as for grinding weapon levels and/or supports slightly faster. Beruka's Axe / Odin's Grimoire: usable on units with enough skill to outweigh its accuracy and limited ability to double, such as Benny / Beruka and Leo / Orochi. Gives them a better chance to OHKO than with the Killer Axe/Mjolnir (both of which have less Might and crit%) if they can't double. Risky to leave equipped while in range of enemies, due to the -20 crit avoid. Ganglari / Berserker's Axe / Sacrificial Knife: Crazy-powerful weapons good in all regards except their HP reduction, which can be rectified at least somewhat with recovery skills like Renewal and Lifetaker. Still requires careful use since enemy phase usage will eat up HP very quickly, but too powerful to overlook their potential. Ryoma's Club: Risky, but rewarding. As with Beruka's Axe, very good on units with low Speed and high Skill. Especially good for Generals due to Wary Fighter (or anyone else who has the skill). Laslow's Blade: faster, but riskier alternative to Steel swords; -1 Might is a pretty good trade for +6 effective speed D-Tier = Usefulness is very situational or limited, but existent, if just barely. Mostly reserved for joke weapons and stuff that wants to be wielded by a very specific unit to be worthwhile. Adamant Club: Quite weak for an Axe/Club, but accurate and defensive. Very good weapon for Charlotte and possibly her children, but too weak on almost anyone else. Stale Bread / Moonlight: Not terrible, but the healing effect is difficult to take advantage of-- healing staves + better weapons are nearly always more effectual, but these'll do in a pinch. Xander's Lance: Not being able to proc hurts, but it CAN still double at least, so best on a speedy unit. Weaker but more accurate than Silver, and +2 Res makes it decent if the wielder is worried about eating magic attacks. If Res and Skill aren't an issue, however, Silver is almost entirely better. Speed Thunder: Mainly only viable for killing isolated foes, but requires careful use to ensure enemies aren't made harder to kill by being unable to double them. Oboro's Lance: Stronger than Silver Naginata but mostly outclassed by Silver Lance; usable in Birthright by units with enough speed to overcome the penalty, as the ability to double is one of the only things it has over the Bold Naginata. Votive Candle: Decent alternative to Iron early-game (more Might + built-in Miracle, less accuracy), but not too useful beyond that. Pine Branch: The high might and decent crit rate are nice, but the speed penalty and lowered accuracy hurt its usability a lot. E-tier =Garbage tier. Don't use these, they have zero advantages over other equipment that's available Hana's Katana: Limited viability for units with Vantage, but too held back by its inability to double Selena's Blade Hinata's Katana Rinkah's Club Spellbane Yumi Cupid Bow Untiered - Daikon Radish - Bottle - Broom - Parasol - Umbrella - Bamboo Pole - Bold Naginata - Hinoka's Spear - Stick - Hexlock Spear - Carp Streamer - Hoe - Frying Pan - Bone Axe - Bamboo Yumi - Harp Yumi - Sidelong Yumi - Mikoto's Yumi - Setsuna's Yumi - Rubber Bow - Violin Bow - Hunter's Bow - Anna's Bow - Chopstick - Hair Pin - Caltrop - Kagero's Dart - Quill Pen - Jakob's Tray - Paper - Malevolent Text - Monkey Spirit - Bird Spirit - Ink Painting - Izana's Scroll - Ember - Iago's Tome - Lantern - Dumpling Rod - Bamboo Branch - Sakura's Rod - Purification Rod - Candy Cane - Mushroom Staff - Bouquet Staff - Elise's Staff - Lilith's Staff DISCUSS~ Edited July 14, 2018 by BANRYU
VincentASM
I like the concept in general. It adds a fun sense of randomness and it's fun to collect all the items. That said, it does suck when the RNG isn't very kind and you really want, say, Felicia's Plate to make Felicia a decent (offensive) Maid. Also, I'm not fond of the exponential forging system : /
MCProductions
I would like it more if it was worked more into the gameplay, like have Felica and Flora reach an A support and you get a Felicia's Plate as a a result of that. I still like it as is because it allows massive weapon diversity without overhauling how the shop works. Still it was a missed opportunity to tie the character named weapons to the support system or other game mechanics

Still it was a missed opportunity to tie the character named weapons to the support system or other game mechanics AHHH I AGREE that would have been cool! :0 I like the concept in general. It adds a fun sense of randomness and it's fun to collect all the items. That said, it does suck when the RNG isn't very kind and you really want, say, Felicia's Plate to make Felicia a decent (offensive) Maid. Also, I'm not fond of the exponential forging system : / I like the forging system to an extent, but I'd like to still be able to rename weapons without forging them, and wish that the higher level forges didn't need SOOO many weapons to create, ahaha... But yeah TBH these are some of my favorite weapons in the game haha. I use them over normal weapons whenever possible, even though a lot of them (namely the weapons named after army members) are outclassed by the equivalent weapons of the same weap rank. Some of the better ones in my experience: - Felicia's Plate: proc-able magic shuriken. nuff said - Ryoma's Club: D-rank and crazy strong, amazing for the likes of Beruka and anyone training Axes as a secondary weap rank, esp the Knights in Conquest. Why it's named for Ryoma though, I'll never understand. Esp good on anyone with Wary Fighter. - Hinoka's Spear: Nearly as strong as steel without the speed penalty is good, extra Avo is nice to counteract the lowered defenses - Effie's Lance / Bold Naginata: Effie's Lance is probably the better one since it gets fewer penalties, but the Acc on the BN is allright as well. This much raw power is amazing for how relatively small the drawback is, and if a Wary Fighter uses Effie's Lance, there's no drawback bwahaha. - Caltrop: dose debuffs. DAYUM. Totally justifies the lack of 2-range IMO - Kaze/Saizo shuriken: built-in rally Str/Spe is amazing on a shuriken. The Harp Yumi is similar but not nearly as useful IMO. - Laslow's Blade: Stronger but riskier than the Practice Katana, and looks badass. - Ganglari / Berserker's Axe / Sacrificial Knife: Amazing you have Lifetaker or one of the other recovery skills. I also used it on my MU with Awakening to try to push her into activation range haha, but that was probably not a great idea. - Hunter's Bow: Really good since most mounted units can't 2-range. A bow-user with Trample + this + any other bow... lollll. - Jakob's Tray: Def+4 is useful since dagger-users are usually pretty squishy - Odin's Grimoire: no doubling and lower crit chance than Mjolnir, but higher base damage and no negative avo, good for units with high skill like Orochi and Leo (since they're usually not doubling anyone anyway). And some not great, but decent ones: - Setsuna's Bow / Iago's Tome: non-shuriken debuffers. Pretty useful esp with Seal skills. - Stick: My favorite weapon to use on earlygame Effie TBH. She can still murder with it and it fixes her shaky acc to boot. - Ink Painting: Ophelia's favorite weapon since Missiletain and Nosferatu. - Raider weapons: The best for training weapon ranks, esp if forged. Ability to proc and extra speed is amazing for an E-rank weapon. - Subaki's Pike: I always get a crapton of these for some reason. Extremely situational, but good for Azura to train lances since she has crazy high Skill. - Beruka's Axe: Reeeeally good on Beruka, and I actually got a ton of mileage out of it on Benny as well. Might even be better on him bcuz Wary Fighter ahaha. - Umbrella / Peri's Lance: 1-2 range weap that can crit and activate skills. I managed to get a +2 Umbrella forge in a Conquest run and it was quite good ahaha. Probably outclassed by the Wakizashi and Spear, but not the worst. - Anna's Bow: Give it to your Profiteers and... well... profit Edited October 22, 2016 by BANRYU
shadowofchaos
I'm still having trouble telling what some of these are. I remember the Byakuya/Hoshido Mist Katana is the Sunrise Katana. Haha. Brand_Of_The_Exalt
I actually like the idea. They contribute to make each run a bit more unique, even if it can be frustrating sometimes. However, it may seems interesting to add them some stories, but then it would wouldn't make sense to find several copies of each weapon. Thinks Their Own Way
You can buy a great club in Hoshido weapon stores (2 at the most at gold rank). *Ryoma's Club is an excellent weapon for General's. *Sunrise Katana is amazing. *Stick, might be my weapon in this game. *Leo's Iceblade is a stronger Levin Sword without 1-2 range. *Cupid's Bow is useless and Peri's Lance is a weaker Javelin. Leo's Iceblade and Peri's Lance can both proc skills and criticals, unlike Levin Sword and Javelin. You get debuffs when you use Leo's Iceblade however.Cupid's Bow is extremely accurate, so it's a good weapon to finish off a deadly wounded enemy for sure. I was actually going to speak higher of them and second-guessed myself lol. You can buy a great club in Hoshido weapon stores (2 at the most at gold rank). *Sunrise Katana is amazing. Ah right, my mistake, fixed! Is the Sunrise Katana really that good...?? I get that the Avo stacks great esp on Swordmasters, but its base power is so weak. I like the aesthetics, but...? Am I missing something? Or do you really just have to forge it to make it good? Cupid's Bow is extremely accurate, so it's a good weapon to finish off a deadly wounded enemy for sure. Isn't Surefire Yumi probably better at this, though? More base power at the very least... Needs a higher weap level but bow users are usually pretty specialized anyway. Not to say it doesn't have its uses, like keeping a weak enemy alive to train weapon ranks/supports on or something.
NekoKnight
I like them for the most part. Many of them aren't quite as good as the things you find in chests or buy in the store, but they're free and you can't sell them for gold so I think it's a fair trade off. Some items are great for utility, such as the Sunrise Katana. I like the forging system to an extent, but I'd like to still be able to rename weapons without forging them, and wish that the higher level forges didn't need SOOO many weapons to create, ahaha... You don't need +7 forges to beat the game and it's just stat inflation for competitive. There shouldn't even BE forges past, say, level 4. In my playthrough with Smithy Skill Midori, my highest forge was a +4 iron weapon, and that was deliberately funneling her the right kills to get the weapons I needed. Shadow Mir
As far as I'm concerned, the Spellbane Yumi and Beruka's Axe are both rather lackluster (the former is effective against a weapon type it's disadvantaged against, and the latter has two major downsides - a whopping -20 crit evade AND weak to follow-ups??? No thank you). Edited October 23, 2016 by Levant Mir Celestia

Sunrise Katana + Joker/Jakob + Speed Tonic = Dodge everything but lances and shurikens. Worked well to cheese Birthright Lunatic. Even the generals. You just had to dodge everything until you proc'ed Dragon Fang. That is, if you haven't killed it with Takumi or Felicia Flame Shuriken by then. Gradivus.
Dodging isn't unreliable when your avo is so high that the enemies have 0-5 hit. Also, Corrin is good at tanking hits, especially with Jakob's personal and HP/Def tonics, so even with bad luck, the chance that Corrin will die is astronomically low. also you just got owned in your absence: Refa - Heute um 04:06 Uhrthe only thing that's unreliable here is levant's knowledge of fe Gradivus. - Heute um 04:07 Uhr rekt Waha | Carmine Sword - Heute um 04:08 Uhr ayyy Edited October 23, 2016 by Gradivus. It's just what the doctor ordered to fix that one tiny weakness that Effie has and to make her completely unstoppable. Really?? I'd always seen that one as kind of useless due to its low Mt, but... You make a solid point, Effie's got Str for days and doesn't like being hit with magic, it's true... Wary Fighter nulls one of the downsides of Beruka's Axe, but not the other, and it's accuracy doesn't really justify practically zeroing out the user's Cev. Admittedly I did forget about that bit, but I'll stand by my point, as it has served me really well. Benny is a helluva tank, and if he's not being put up against weakness-exploiting weapons most attacks don't even do that much damage to him. I'd venture to say he can tank a few crits from the right opponent, IE swordmasters and other low-might classes, and still be fine. He rarely (if ever) died for me on my last Conquest run where he was a Wyvern Lord, and ran Beruka's Axe quite frequently.
