Hero of the Fire Emblems Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I noticed offhandedly that the dungeon crawling segment looks a lot like TMS#FE. Especially how Celica seems to have an equipped weapon and the way she runs into enemies. Do you think we might see some overworld elements of TMS worked in? You think any other elements of TMS might work their way into Echoes?
Jedi Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 TMS itself borrowed heavily from Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, I got those vibes as well in that short bit of Dungeoning we saw.
Azure Sen Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I like the idea of a dungeon-crawling exploration segment where the random encounters transition into the standard FE gameplay, if only for the novelty value.
Corrobin Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Interesting... In theory, at least. I'd like it if there was some light treasure and a few puzzles sprinkled throughout those dungeons.

I'd even hazard a guess they might use this updated system if they ever delve into TMS 2. Atlas wanted FE style gameplay but Intsys said "Do what you do best" and they stuck to Persona Style dungeons and fighting.
Corrobin Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I'm interested to see where this thing goes. Again, hoping for treasure and puzzles in these.
Dandy Druid Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Curious to see what dungeons they have. I hope they're not repetitive and maybe if we're lucky, some of them dive into the lore of the world and flesh out the stories of Duma and Mila.

It's actually encounters where you see enemies in the field, if you look at the trailer again you can see Cecilia strike a skeleton and all of his units are damaged from a "First Strike".
Corrobin Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 I wonder if this will replace Skirmishes for gaining EXP?
DeoxyRibose Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 It reminds me of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, where you had the occasional overworld section inside some of the more important dungeons, breaking up the rougelike gameplay, with maybe two or three enemies nearby that you could walk into and it would pull up the grid and you'd fight them in the usual roguelike style.
