No. I remember listening to a porn parody on the radio (yes, really) that mocked this sort of thing. Guy was about to fuck his sister since they weren't blood related, sister shot him down. Family is family.

Then again, at least in my opinion, your options as to female wives are... unfortunate. Some are family, some are children, some look like children, some are your children, some have major issues, some are incredibly devoted to someone else, some are older than you, and some just want to be left alone. The only female characters I feel remotely comfortable marrying are Selena, Felicia, and Flora, the latter two only because they quit being maids after you marry them. Professionalism is key.

That said, I actually DO like Corrin x Camilla as a potential ship if for no other reason than its dark/tragic potential-- though as I've said it's by no means a good or healthy relationship. But I think it COULD be interesting.

Yee, its why my first MU paired with her to begin with. I was headcanoning a bunch of things and was a bit dismayed when the game's supports and pieces of narrative couldnt reflect it. In fact, the personality in which they gave Corrin did NOT match the MU i created. (he was supposed to be a total wet shit raised at Garon's knee. Not some little pacifist that couldnt think of hurting people.)

And i always agreed that marrying Elise is tres hella gross.

Oh man, it's like you read my mind xD I dunno 'bout the Corrin but I was definitely also imagining something vastly different from what the game gave us =w= (I actually have a character who works well enough for what they wrote but had no idea that was the route they were gonna go =3=).

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it already, but - putting aside the obvious fact that it's a video game - we also have to consider the likely time period the game is set in, especially Nohr, which is clearly inspired by Medieval Europe, were incest was pretty much commonplace among royalty especially. Granted, I don't know if it necessarily was a brother-sister type of incest or 'just' cousin marriage, but it was there.

And then, there's the fact that the Olympic Gods in ancient Greece were an army of incest-born deities and were married to their siblings (sometimes even their mothers or fathers), so there's also that.

Granted, it still feels off to marry Camilla or Elise, at least to me. The issue of Elise being underage aside, they both grew up as your siblings, so they should stay that way. It's the same for Xander and Leo.

The Hoshidan Royals, on the other hand, should be 'free game', so to speak, as they aren't related to you AND they - at least in Sakura's and likely Takumi's case - didn't really grow up with you.

That's my take on this, anyway. I'd never once consider marrying any of the Royals, so take it from someone with a neutral stance on the topic.

Big news! We just discovered a hidden support conversation in Awakening that is valid to this thread!

Chrom/Lissa S-rank support

  Hide contents

Chrom: Hey, Lissa, I need to tell you something.

Lissa: What is it, big bro?

Chrom: Well, you're actually adopted.

Lissa: It's OK. You'll always be my brother in my heart!

Chrom: Well, can we change that? Because I also think I'm in love with you. Can we get married instead?

Lissa: Anything you say, big bro! Y'know, this makes sense of why I've always had a crush on you. Now it's not weird anymore!

Chrom: Yeah, awful convenient that we're not really related, isn't it! Now, to plan our honeymoon!

Now THAT would be wierd.

Honestly, I think the story would be better if they didn't make Corrin a self-insert, so we wouldn't have to deal with a convoluted explanation for why he can marry his siblings. That would definitely make the theme of familial ties v. bonds stronger, as opposed to what we have now.

I can only imagine the developers' conversation went like this:

Dev 1: "Well, you see, people liked their Avatar's ability to marry anyone in Awakening, so let's bring it back!"

Dev 2: "But then they will be able to marry their blood siblings in Hoshido!"

Dev 1: "I know! We'll reveal that they are not related at all!"

Dev 2: "But then why would anyone choose Hoshido, if defending it is not really your birthright?"

Dev 1: "We make Hoshido the good kingdom, and Nohr the bad kingdom!"

Dev 2: "That is genius! We'll be raking in millions! Bwa ha ha!"

This argument has always confused me. Fire Emblem takes place in a highly romanticized medieval age where everyone's attractive, clean and healthy. Lords fraternize with their men and commoners, recruit enemies on a regular basis without complaint and all the important people fight on the front lines with mostly inefficient equipment that's designed to look good rather than be, well, useful, like how no one is wearing helmets and a lot of girls fight in mini skirts or anything else that shows off their legs. Most importantly, however, is that we've got no reason to believe that at least the good guys act according to medieval morals.

I'm not saying that you're defending this, but there are plenty of people who cherry pick their facts like this, and it's just laughable. Corrin's sibling supports usually pay lip service to the fact that they're "family", so they know their relationship is unorthodox to say the least, but instead of exploring this, they brush it aside and it's never brought up in the main story or even in My Castle. A lot of people would not have minded the incest as much if they at least treated the topic with respect, rather than it being blatant fetish pandering and a way for Corrin to support absolutely everyone.

@Gima:

Look, I get some of the things you listed being problems but "some are older than you"? Is this for real right now?

@Bandido:

Honestly, I get the impression that the idea of glorifying Hoshido and vilifying Nohr is something that IS came up with first.
