Admiral "Bull" Halsey
topic Edit: THis should move to FE6... Edited October 30, 2008 by Kim Jong-il
Dr. Tarrasque
He's great. If Dieck's stats don't match up to Karel's, I use him.
Kiba
why should this be moved to fe6 he is in fe7 and I used him in fe7 in fact he is good
Kintenbo
I usually just use him for the chapter you get him, but it's still considered using him. Those super high growths don't really mean much. Only if there was a Juna Fruit in this game. (it's an item that lowers your level 3 levels without stat loss. it's an item you can get in Sacred Stones using an Action Replay)
Dr. Tarrasque
why should this be moved to fe6 he is in fe7 and I used him in fe7 in fact he is good Because he's talking about FE6 Karel and not the FE7 Karel, they're different.
Kiba
dammit I haven't played this in so long that I forgot that he's in it
Admiral "Bull" Halsey
The only difference with this Karel is that high stat growths out of any FE character over 100% in every category. And his starting stats in FE6 are better than his FE7 Lv. 20/20 averages. Edited October 30, 2008 by Kim Jong-il
Florete
No. I likely never will.
Ercdouken
I've used him in this game before, but mostly just to see how much stats he gains when you level him up. I don't really use him much.
Mekkah
I usually recruit him for giggles (even field a L1 Fir to do it), but that's it. I prefer to handle his joining chapter with my own units, and the Mamkute feast has vey limited unit selection. I'd rather use Durandal on Alan/Lance/Percival/Rutger/Dieck since they've been with me for all game. Would be rather anticlimatic for them to sit the final out. Judge Judy
The first tme I used him for a swordmaster playthrough along side heros. The last time I used him when I really needed a swordmaster.
Ϲharlie
I used Karel a little bit in the chapter he joins in and that's it. He's a completely redundant character. You'd have to be in a very dire situation to actually need him.
Lightshayde
But...but...he's the sword saint! I actually use him, just because characters like Athos and FE6 Karel are awesome. What's the name of that archetype? I know there is one...
Herr Wozzeck
Karel is certainly good, but by the point he arrived I found that Fir was just as good, if not slightly better than him. So I recruited him just to get his ending and benched him.
Ϲharlie
I actually use him, just because characters like Athos and FE6 Karel are awesome. What's the name of that archetype? I know there is one... Most people refer to it as the "Gato archetype", even though Athos is the only one who shares any meaningful similarities with Gato. Some even split it up and say that physical types belong to the "Galzus archetype". Personally, I call them "powerful latecomers who exist so you can beat the game even if you got crap characters". =/

Icon of Sin
He's by no means bad, but he doesn't have any supports while you're quite likely to have a decent swordsman who can use Durandal with supports. I only use him in his own level, though I do him a favor and let him kill Brenya for a level up.
Dr. Tarrasque
Could it be Gato (soon to be Gotoh, apparently)? Yep it's the Gato/Gotoh archetype. Book 1/FE1: Gato FE5: Galzus FE6: Karel FE7: Athos FE9: Naesala/Tibarn/Giffca FE10: Do I have to say it? FEDS: Gato/Gotoh and Nagi. Dr. Tarrasque
You forgot to add FEDS in your list of FE1 remakes. Yer right, fixed it. Did I forget any other Gato/Gotoh archetype characters?

Icon of Sin
Yer right, fixed it. Did I forget any other Gato/Gotoh archetype characters? You could always consider Sety. He actually has the right class more or less.
Dr. Tarrasque
You could always consider Sety. He actually has the right class more or less. He doesn't incredibly late since it's on the 3rd of the 6 chapters in the end 2 Gen. The main attributes to fall in the Gato/Gotoh archetype is that you must be a unit that comes on the last (or really close to the last) chapter (Gato, Nagi, Athos, the 3 ubers in FE9). The 2nd attribute being that you must be a really good unit if you happen to come before the last chapter (FE6 Karel, Galzus, Laguz Royals in FE10). If I were to count Sety as a Gato archetype, I'd be able to count Lugh as one too. Edited December 9, 2008 by Boo
Ϲharlie
I'm pretty sure he was referring to FE5 Sety. >_> I still maintain that they aren't "Gato characters" so much as they are powerful latecomers.

If it's FE5 Sety then yes, he's pretty right on that. I think I'll just keep Galzus as the only Gato archetype character on that list though >_> Edited December 9, 2008 by Boo
