Saint Rubenio
Hahahah! I shan't let the young ones surpass me yet! COME AT ME! FOR MY HONOR AS A KNIGHT OF PHERAE!!! Marcus looks awfully happy today... Eh, let him be. If it helps him win us the battle... ... Is something the matter, Lance? ...no, it's nothing... I'm just thinking... what it could've been... ... Part 22 - Tragedy. Before we proceed further, I'd like to address something I'm sure many want to know: yes, I couldn't think of anything better for this part's intro take a look at this. This is a picture of my late kitty, may she rest in peace. If you direct your eyes to your right, you'll see Nightmare. For those who aren't aware, Nightmare is a very basic editor for FE. Those're Marcus's growths. As you can see, they're untouched. I know, it's weak proof, you could just say "BUT YOU EDITED THEM OFF-SCREEN!". Quite honestly, considering how astronomically blessed he is, I would think that as well. All I can say is, I didn't edit anything, he's great on his own, and I couldn't be any happier about it. Now, on to the replies. On 22/2/2018 at 11:22 PM, deskita said: It seems like she's sitting on her pegasus face-palming at the stupidity of the other pegasus knights. What pegasus knight charges at an archer anyway isn't "pegasus knights are weak to archers" a common theme in supports so shouldn't they all know this by now. Good theory. Let's say that's it. On 23/2/2018 at 1:15 AM, Dayni said: I must say, I dig your new profile picture and description... however that little text under the picture is actually called? Also, holy crap, your replies keep on getting longer and longer. Not complaining, though, the more, the better. keep it up. Well that's unsurprising. Unless he dies, but that's not happening. Not with Raigh. I shall not allow it. More like he can see other timelines. Like Shulk and his visions. Or Raven, if you know who I'm on about. I'm afraid not, but with that name, it can only mean lots of edge and dark colours. EDIT: hey, Ruben from the future here. Or, well, shall we say present? Obviously, I wrote this right as I begun with the update, a few days go. Today, as I'm putting the finishing touches to the update before releasing it, I've finally remembered what you were refering to. Well... I got one thing right, didn't I? Hahahah... ah... I'm not racist, it's a fact. I kind of get it. Could Tomas rock the dong armour though? He doesn't need it. His... uh, drab-colored rag and baby blue shoulder pads are far better? How do I delete this? http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/216/380/023.jpg Aha! Your memes have backfired! It was a devil meme! Huh. Fine, you're forgiven. Even if there's nothing to forgive. Still, it feels good to be forgiven. He's an incompetent. You need a villain more like the guy from Aristocats. He's... monstrously incompetent! Who needs villains when you've got MERLINUS on your side!? Alright, didn't know. Because he and Allan are generic as all get out to me. Eh, Lance does have some neat tidbits to him here and there. Allen's... yeah. Allen's horrible. It's that White Gem, man! Boy is rich, I'd use Igrene over him if we're on about stats. But recruiting him isn't hard... I still don't get what the whole fuss is all about. Had a snigger at this. Good, I succeeded. Never seen Casper I take it? I have, but even the roundest ghosts don't have fat. They're incorporeal! They weigh nothing! SO DO I. BUT HE. JUST. WON'T. He's too stupid to die. Once again, Thracia is your friend. If only I could capture Orlo instead of killing him... Wait, no, if I spared him, the villagers would lynch him! It's best to give him a death worthy of a magnificent bad guy such as himself! I at first thought this made no sense. Like Orlo was preaching at them and boring them to sleep. Pfft. Those are pretty concerning stats. Thankfully light magic sucks here. Actually, divine has the same might as elfire and flux, so while yes, light magic in general sucks, Orlo in particular does not. He's just a fair boss, unlike the others who relied on being far too strong for such early bosses, or having nosferatu. And because I have to keep it alive (because apparently he is quite willing to burn everything down): Hahahahah. Excellent. What's with the eyes, though? They look weird. I get it, though you'd be better off with fliers. What fliers? The only flier you get prior to this chapter is Shanna, and even if I managed to raise her despite her pathetic bases, Shanna would still die if she tried to approach the northern villages. May I remind you that there are multiple longbow (can't get close enough) and steel bow (can't even rely on the longbow being too weak) Archers defending the area, as well as Fighters and Shamen? I usually don't because I raise quite a few mounts so they can actually get around pretty quick. Yeah... too bad all of my mounts save for Reck and The Great Marcus died, am I right? Allan died inside after realising just how much of a lame character he is. Totally canon. Eh, him saying it like that isn't implausible, but reading it makes it feels more forced than it might sound in conversation. Eh. Fair enough, I guess, although I still fail to see how it makes sense in any way. They think they're isolated? Think it's somewhere they can talk? I don't know, I live in a valley and it's not like I climb up a hill any time I want a serious talk. Exactly! They could talk while flying off to places where they can actually make themselves useful, they could talk before leaving the castle, but instead, they sit their wyverns on top of a mountain. Why? Again, Zephiel is a bad ruler imo. Which when you consider he wants dragons ruling over dead humans...... I mean, he obviously is. He's a fine villain (not my favourite, but okay), but as a ruler and leader of the army, he's really mediocre. This sprite seems so low quality to me. Is that just me or my bias for Gonzy talking? It is a bad sprite, but your bias is definitely contributing to it. He also has 14% more chance to hit. Kind of inevitable. 8%* Pfft of course Mega Bloks man couldn't hold. Hey, I tried, but I'm afraid we'll be using Douglas. Orlo: Best throwaway boss in BB? I think you're right. I am wright! *Sigh. I knew this would happen the moment Clarine died. Hey, it worked, so what's the problem? No wonder you've never seen Wendy actually being good. Your point? Course, her art's still the worst. Yes, I said enough on the matter that one time. THAT sounds weird. I can't think of that happening before. Huh. Well, it happens every time I go through this route. I've never understood it, but it's nothing new for me. Which screws you over more. That it does. It means there's pretty much no chance of getting the Elysian Whip. "Charge! Right past Orlo!" Their dominant philosophy. Stupiditiy is their dominant philosophy. It kind of socks to be her. Hey, at least she's a badass. Unlike Clarine. Who's dead. Lest she has good enough speed that it can be eaten into somewhat. Friendly reminder that the steel axe tanks her speed down to 12. No. Just imagine this playing as her entrance theme as she leaves. Maybe she'd be even better. Or bring more than a steel axe. If she brought a steel sword, I'd be fine with it, but of course, "HURR I'M A STRONG, INDEPENDENT WOMAN! I'M NOT LIKE THOSE WEAK SWORDIES! I USE AXES BECAUSE FUCK MALE SUPREMACY OF AXES! WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I'M FALLING OVER JUST TRYING TO MOVE IT AROUND?! CHECK YOUR DAMN PRIVILEGE!!". Sorry, Echidna, you've great waifu potential for one with weird tastes such as myself, but it had to be said. We'll see. She has some percentage for strength. She might be a frontliner just yet. 15% defense and a base of 8. Not happening, sorry. Let's be fair, getting that as a single stat level up is better than anything else for her. Sure, but 10 is still low. But still, it's not like she's ever going to see combat. She already did once and I was forced to erase that timeline. But that's fine, she's meant to be used as artillery, and that, he does in flying colours. Those are buns in her hair. You don't say? Here I thought those were buns in her hair... Like she tried to get hair like Leia's. She failed. Orlo: Actual monster. I wish he gets unique art in a remake. I like to think of it as "wow, Orlo's amazing. We outdid ourselves, guys! We can't let this great baddie go to waste: copy-paste him twice!". He's that great. And his design is actually quite decent! Klein might be considered and initial attache? I suppose he could... Meanwhile, I get this when I actually bother using Marcus in BS (HHM): Hahahahahah... poor you. Your eyes do not deceive you: your actual Jeigan is looking to outdo a supposed Oifey, his younger self at that. The defences are actually above average, but he got speed once in 12 levels. I couldn't use him in endgame. His speed growth sucks in FE7. It's actually the same as in FE6! The Sain I raised had double his speed, and was at 20 by level 20. Marcus looked even more pathetic in comparison. That's Sain for you: better stats, worse character. I've never seen Marcus so happy. So stealing this. Please do. Next time, we get to see Orlo die maybe? Sniff and the next boss is as generic as they get... auuugh... On 23/2/2018 at 1:35 AM, SoloCross said: Well, of course Marcus would turn out good. He is the legendary super Jagen after all. That LP was so great. But my Marcus is better than his Marcus, and I didn't even cheat! Hahahah... On 23/2/2018 at 3:51 AM, eclipse said: . . .maybe Tomas is secretly from Valentia? Would explain why we know jack about him! Well... maybe he's Tatiana's long lost brother!!!! It makes perfect sense! How's that for a bombshell of a revelation!? On 23/2/2018 at 4:17 AM, Franp3 said: Yes. Spectacular. You amaze me, Ruben. Quote on quote. Seriously, i'm running out of things to say whenever a character dies, and we're not even halfway through the damn game. FE6! At this rate we are going to have no healers left! Saul's too much of a bastard to die. The devil does not want him. And so ends Barth's (rather brief, thankfully) time on the party. If he does't die before the chapter ends, that is. Guess he's got to thank his lucky stars. Yeah! No! Hahahah... those bad stats do him no favours, I'm afraid... (Angelic latin chanting) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA What? At least I tried. In the translation I played, he's called Oro instead. As if this game needed more ill-fitting spanish names. Oh, that's right. That was such a horrible name... I guess it contributed for most people to completely ignore him, assuming he'd be just another horrible boss with a horrible name (back then, Zinque was called Zinc. As in, the element. Why). Because then IS would have to put some effort into writing something that isn't supports. Right... Who? I don't know. I don't know what I was thinking. Dude, you badly need a psychologist. I attended to one for 10 years. Then Horseman happened. On 23/2/2018 at 6:16 PM, Goddess Serra said: I don't get this... Why? I mean, you could go Ilia. Yodel gives you the Divine Weapon from the route you didn't go to anyway once he joins. Well, yes, but I want to be able to choose and show off both routes and their respective gaidens. If Sue dies, then I'll have to, God forbid, use Shin! That would be a sin (hohoh), for it goes directly against my personal FE rules of not using good units unless I like their character! Spoiler Last time, Marcus achieved greatness and I swear this is the last time I show this screencap. ...okay one more time. So good. Now... Some fighting to get us started. And some talky-talk! Lot drops of the Heroine, and Lalum gets to doing what's likely going to be her last contribution to the army outside of giving Alen and the other benchies something to look at. Barth is too steadfast to waste time with such earthly pleasures. Then again, with the increasing number of deaths, there might just be a deployment slot for her. She's definitely got more of a chance that friggin' Merlinus, that's for sure. You know, I'm not sure it's ever established how much Echidna knows about Elphin and Lalum. Did she buy their story, or does she know there's more to the two of them? I mean, she's the leader of the resistance. That ought to count for something. Yeah, maybe you could've gotten her the wyrmslayer so she didn't have to effectively go out and fight with 12 speed. Yeah, fine. That's the word... fine. 12 speed's fine. My, this girl sure loves her buts. Don't go lewding my words, now. I'm not implying anything. Oh, shut up, you... me! She's so casual. Quite a far cry from most other ladies in the game. Although, I still prefer Cecilia. Our boi! Eh, not really, we just crossed Etruria and some sea. France-to-England distance, more or less. But, of course, you don't know how much that is... You joining me means I can get you weapons you can lift without crumbling down. So, yes, that's a very solid motivation indeed. Join us. He's the only swordsman around, he sucks ass at it and he knows it. He'll probably be ecstasic to know someone's here to fill the shoes of Dick, Rutger, Noah, Ogier, Fir... Jeez. I've lost too many people. But don't worry, Echidna, I won't lose you. Unlike what it may seem, given how much crap I give her, I like Echidna quite a lot. Also she's hot. The newly recruited Echidna moves out of the way. She'll be needing those swords before she starts helping. Saul heals Dorothy, as usual. This time is slightly unique, since he's healing the wounds she sustained in the last update days ago. Geese! Why are you so bad?! Well, then. Take this kill you don't need, Gonzales. Klein keeps on slaughtering the ladies that trusted him. He's a great commander. I also like his sprite. Too bad he's so mediocre. Astolfo heals up. If I lose him, I'll be forced to deploy Cath, and that just won't do. Good news! Tate finally moved! And into Klein's range, to boot. That's quite convenient. Now, I hope she forgives Klein for killing all of her subordinates. Oh, dear. The Archer's under attack! And that's all that happens in this enemy phase. Klein, put your love interest except not because only Roy is allowed to marry in this game in her place: My team! Thankfully, Tate isn't Sheema, which means the death of her colleagues doesn't make her throw a fit and try to stab Klein. Part of me wishes that was the case. Sheema in FE12 was handled brilliantly. Now, for the second part of the plan: Treck'll take care of everything. This guy, the "leader" of this Cavalier brigade, I suppose, is toting a killer lance. He worries me a little. But it's nothing Treck can't handle. Especially now that he's got WTA on them. Echidna picks up some swords. Her sword rank is a tad lower than her axe rank, but it's higher than anybody else's, considering most of them are at rank P for Pushing up daisies. Step two of the plan involves Lot and Wade, as usual. They'll head south and confront the reinforcements that will soon arrive through the same entrance as Klein. I also wanted them to be ready to handle the Brigands. For some reason, Brigands start spawning again a few turns after the first pair. Guess IntSys was feeling merciful enough to give the infantry time to catch up. There's also the chance, though, that they wanted the player to believe no more Brigands would be spawning, rendering them to head north to Orlo, and then have to haul ass to save the southern villages, which most wouldn't visit until the end of the chapter, since they're very out of the way. Tl;Dr: It may not seem like it, but IntSys are assholes. As usual. Treck faces the killer idiot. The killer idiot does remarkably well, but his demise is still inevitable. Roy gets attacked. It's okay, though, he can't be killed by a lowly Brigand. Not if he's using a weapon his flimsy arms can hold all right. That's it for the Archer. Such sad. Hey, at least one of them survived...? Regardless. We need to finish off the killer idiot. Once we do that, Treck'll be virtually invincible. There, done. Now that we've got a new growth unit, Marcus can get to doing what he does best: Jeiganing. I don't want to risk losing the goods and Klein, and since Lalum is here, might as well give her something to do. Echidna's first battle! Well, one thing's for sure, she's better than Roy. Wade levels up. Let it be a good one, please. Oh, please. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! I can't even try to shave off those 2 HP, because the only ones in range are too good. Sigh... Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh... Look, physic! Well, at least Geese can kill the guy Echidna wounded. Gud job, Geese. I'm so proud of ye. The wording here is a little weird. Wouldn't it be more appropriate if he said "more reinforcements will arrive shortly"? Because "the" reinforcements already arrived, and are futilely attempting to take down Treck. Dang, we did really bad this enemy phase. Not Treck, though. Treck did bad in the player phase. Well, this seems to be working all right. There might be hope for Geese yet. On second thought... I don't want to risk losing at this point, so Roy leaves the battlefield. He'll head to the shopping center-like area and hunker down there until there are no enemies left to threaten him. Our Lord and Savior, ladies and gentlemen. Hey, at least he's a good strategist... who really shouldn't be fighting in the frontlines with his 5 con. Since Geese is too incompetent, Lilina finishes off the Bandit while Saul heals him up. Ah, that's better. Thank you, Spanishman, for giving Geese a chance. Even though you already completely outclass him. And as much as I hate to admit it, Wade as well. But Wade has a support partner (and if everything goes well, two), while Gonzo... eh, I don't know, maybe Treck. But Gonzo can't keep up with Treck's horse, so... Okay. There are the reinforcements. Paladin, eh? Bah, how strong can he possibly be? Gonzo and his recruiter are attacked. Gonzo destroys his opponent, and Lilina, not wanting to be left behind, rolls up her sleeves, which for some reason triples the amount of pain her thunder inflicts to the Brigand. Treck doesn't do as well, but he still cannot be harmed, which is more important. Here come the reinforcements, led by... Roberts! Remember this guy? He had two lines in the other route. In this one, he only appears in hard mode. The reason? He's... pretty strong for this part of the game? Wait, but that makes no sense... his stats are merely fair, and in normal mode, they would be lower. And there's also a Paladin in NM, he's just unnamed. Yeah, I can't think of anything. Let's just... enjoy his presence while it lasts. The plan is to let Lot handle everything. Wade gets doubled and Gonzo has too little defense. I know I said Roy'd be avoiding fighting for the rest of the chapter, but I don't want to take any risks. Besides, it's good experience for Saul. While Saul pretends to be a good guy in his leader's eyes, Dorothy visits another of these Magical Houses That Turn Into 3 Houses A A Few Trees. I must say, I prefer Mieu's dialogue. One less, five to go. Treck won't kill them all, don't worry. However, those two battles did give him a level up. Let's see. Meeeeeeh... it's FE6, I suppose. This sort of level isn't as bad as it would've been in... pretty much every other game in the series! Okay, that's it. Those 4 movement squares belong to Roberts: I want a Cavalier or two to go north to the main team. Lot doesn't need that much experience. He's already taking a boss kill! Yes, Roberts counts as a boss. He's got that rocking tune every lowly boss gets. While we're on the subject, may I address the fact that there's only one generic boss theme? The other 2 GBA games get 2 tunes, one for early bosses and another for later bosses, but FE6 only gets one. Which is good, mind you, but it still contributes to the whole "HURR DURR FE6 IS UNPOLISHED" crap. I guess. I just wanted to say I like the FE6 boss theme, yeah. It's a shame it's so hard to find, and even harder to find a remix of it. Anyhow, everything goes about as planned. Wade can't hit for shit, but that's fine. Roberts' the real deal here, not the Brigands. Up north... everything goes as planned, too. Then comes the barrage of javelins. Goodness gracious, look at that! 0% hitrate, single-digit damage. Those guys are so out of their league, it's just sad. Worth a shot (and hey, he hit him!), but my main objective there was for Gonzales to take the cave-fort and stop more useless axemen from appearing. They can't do anything, but since they can climb up the mountain, we also can't do anything, which leads to a waste of time. We already have Gonzales to see the good Brigand sprite, thanks. Now, for the plan to take down Roberts... it's quite simple, really. First, wade gives Lot the halberd, and heals up while at it. And now-- Oh my God, he can't double him with the halberd. Oh my God, low hitrate. Oh my God, low hitrate still doesn't go under 50%, so the curse doesn't apply in this case. Uh... Okay, you know what? We'll worry about it later! First, Lilina shall level up! Wade much? Uh... Astolfo levels up, because why not? Eh, not too bad. Thieves don't need to outrun their targets to steal from them in this game, but it's still a little more durability and dodgeability for Mainthief. I... er... ...let's get Lilina out of the way now. Some of Roberts' Cavaliers can reach her there. Very well. She's safe. Saul gets some experience as well. Treck keeps it up. No, seriously, don't worry, he won't take all the kills. Mm... maybe with another weapon... Jeez! Same hitrate, except Lot has to hit twice to defeat him. No, thanks. Ergh, look, a distraction! Roy continues his quest to put a few kilometers between him and the action. Lalum dances for Saul, who thanks her by using his staff on her. ... ... Look, a distract-- Oh, no, not that! Shit, gotta find more ways to procrastinate... What?! Everyone's already moved!? Hmph... ...ah, yes, plot! Just let me press enter five or six times... ... ...cough... Bless you, Father Wrys. Thanks. ... ... ... Oh, c'mon! Do something! ... Cough. Bless you, Lady Elen. Oh, I'm Ruben. Ah, I'm sorry. Don't be. ... ... ... Okay! Fine! Let's face the music. Oh, God... don't forget that Wade gets doubled by Roberts... if this does not work...! ..gaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!! Commercial break! ..gaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!! Not the flashbacks! Not now...! Oh, dear... Lot! Is he... Yes! Hell yes, it worked! Typical. Oh, well, guess he'll be killing one of the Cavvies as well. Okay, that's it. I don't think we'll have any casualties at this point. ...could it be? Will I win without losing anybody today? That would be so swell... I mean, of course, I've lost the Elysian Whip and Orion Bolt, but... really? In any case, let's not party until we've actually seized the castle. Aha, there we go. Thanks for killing yourself, Cavalier. Now, if only the level could be good... Yes! Hahahahah! Yes! 15 defense! Lot's taken the defense lead once more! Damn, Marcus, now Lot... they really want me to go with this route, don't they? Well, if nothing goes wrong from here on out, I'll be glad to comply! Okay, that's enough, thanks. See this? Imagine it, but times five. Suffice to say, Treck did a way better job at dodging the javelin barrage than Wade. Finally back in control, I make Wade take the halberd from Lot, and... attack with the iron axe? Yeah, Gonzo's the one who needed the halberd. It's a good stat for him. I'm happy enough. Treck does some jeiganing for Geese. I'm trying. You can't fault me for that. I'm really doing my best, as I did with Wendy and Ogier. It's just... c'mon, look at that. Geese does not want to be used. Dancing, healing, rescuing, dropping, etc. Just the usual. Well, the chapter might as well be over at this point. With a whooping 4 enemies left, Orlo's all but defeated. Oh, Great Scott! They finally hit Treck! The horror! They've turned the tables on us! AAARGH!!! Revenge! ...nope. That's not how it's going to go. Better. One more kill for Gonzo. Well, only clean-up left. Since it's just two guys, instead of two hundred, I'll be showing the whole process. C'mon, Geese, Franp believes in you! Stop being awful! Acceptable, but you've a long way ahead of you before you actually earn a promotion. Then again, we've also a long way ahead of us before we actually get another Hero Crest, so take your time, but make sure those 6 levels are good. Jeigan can't jeigan with a javelin. Do it for him, Treck. Don't worry, Marcus, you're still awesome. Oh, jeez... This is just to get Saul to max level. Ah, great. Very nice! He's a rather average Saul, except his luck is good. Mostly thanks to being given that icon last chapter. Ah, excellent. Tate just barely can't get this kill. Thankfully, the javelin sucks, so she can just take two hits. Which means I can afford to risk... Exactly this happening. Okay, no harm done anyways. Strength is good, thank you. Saul gets the great hat again. This time, he's got better magic. He inmediately goes shopping for some magic, and some other things along with that. That guy guarding the southern villages is the last enemy in the map. You thought you could be efficient by sending a Cavalier down there while the others marched forth? Hahah, you silly fool. Here's an axereaver. Right as we leave axelandia. We also get some really depressing little story. I can't think of anyone that fits this description, I'm afraid. In any case, we got a weapon that would've been so great if Bors started with it. The guy can 3 shot Gonzo, and same goes the other way around, but then there's the fact that G doubles his hitrate. Of course, my luck doesn't agree with the numbers displayed on the screen. It really doesn't. Well, we're taking a billion turns to do what we should've been able to do in two, but at least Gonzo isn't getting hit like a dumbass. Since there are "forts" in the map, the Fighter figures the wisest course of action would be to run for his life. Not hap-- Pah. Pah. Paaaaaahh! At long last! Okay. More loot, please. Uhhh... it's time! Dorothy's promoting today! We're on a roll. Keep us rolling, Gonzo! I haven't cut anything out. It took me a moment to understand Gonzo told Stache the whole situation, but since IntSys refuses to let village visitors speak, they had to go with this... extremely bad solution. It may be horribly annoying that the Archanea games allow Marth and only Marth to visit villages, but at least it means this nonsense doesn't happen. Defense. Now that's handy... I'll have to think this one over. Look, it's that girl who was selling elixirs back in Ostia, we took one free sample and didn't even have the decency to pay her. Spoilers, we're not going to pay her either this time. She's... not a very good saleswoman. Seriously, are you Castor's long lost sister or something? Anyhow, this was a very pleasant surprise for me when I played through the chapter. I actually didn't remember this route had a restore staff. I was convinced I'd have to face 12 without it. Having a restore staff in FE6 is always reassuring. Now, hate me if you will, but I'm gonna give Dorothy a few levels at the arena. Another thing that makes the FE6 arena even easier than it already was is that supports actually work in there. I mean, I made a mistake here and picked a battle with a bet higher than 750, but it worked out fine. See, she's got a consistently high chance of hitting and the enemies, a low one. That's all the battles I'll be showing because she died and I rewinded and don't want you to notice. they're extremely boring. She's a tad slow, but her strength is good. I suppose I could've gotten her to level 20, but I didn't feel like it. Besides, 1 level is a fair trade-off for arena powerleveling... right? And so, the brown Archer becomes... ...uh, where did the baby blue come from? Honestly, I prefer Dorothy's unpromoted palette. The blue looks really out of place. I tried to see if her unpromoted palette would work with her promoted sprite, but it's rather glitchy, so we'll have to bear with it, I suppose. But look at them stats! Wade, too, will be fighting at the arena. He's a battle away from leveling up. Nice! Very nice! He got 10 defense again! That speed needs help, though. Have some steroids! Not bad. We'll see how a promoted Wade looks next chapter. I'm not sure many have seen that. Anyhow, some more shopping. Namely, three of these delicious killer axes. I relieve Klein of the white gem's weight as well. Here are Orlo's stats again. Not that threatening, which is good. And now, time to face the man himself! Hahah, get it? 'Cause he's using the divine tome? They tried to make him look bad and generic with the whole "my weapon is my whole character!" bullshit Nord suffered from, but they failed because even then the line's friggin' badass. He truly is the equivalent of the gods themselves! His one flaw is that he suffers from FE6 not giving unique palettes to minor bosses, for some reason. And even then, it's fine. Bishops are rare enough and the red palette is badass enough that it doesn't really matter. It even fits his hair colour, at least! Jeez, he may only have 12 speed, but the stupid gate makes him feel like a damn swordmaster. Look at that shabby hitrate! Thank the heavens for allowing us to get lucky, for once. Maybe the universe is trying to tell Orlo something here... Sit tight, guys. Hypocrisy is inbound. Ohoho, you're one to talk, Saul... Well, yeah, that's the church's logic. However... "Very convenient"...! The magnificent bastard! Holy crap, how do I wish this guy wasn't about to die in five minutes. I mean, don't get me wrong, he's a bastard, but he's so good at that... Saul, ladies and gentlemen. Thinks he's in any position to judge Orlo when, in some respects, he's worse than him. Not only that, his line has a typo! Notice how there should be a dot there? Yet, there is none to be found. God damnit, Saul. "Punishment awaits you". Hahah... yeah, it does, but not by your hand, Saul. You're just getting some WEXP here. Remember what I said about the universe trying to tell Orlo something? I think it's something along the lines of "go you!". At least he isn't a very good shot. Oh, shoot... Damn! Heal up, Treck. I don't want you to be wrecked just yet. Or ever, for that matter. Saul gets out of the way, because I don't want him to waste this turn. Dorothy and Treck at least can damage him. He missed again, but at least that's a cool frame to screencap. He's on the ropes now! We just have to get lucky with the coup de grâce! Don't fail us, Treck! See update title. So long, Orlo. You were the coolest boss. I'm truly going to miss you. Eh, not that bad, although I'd appreciate some speed. And one more level for Lalum later (defense!)... We're off. Hey, Saul, while we're here, don't you think Orlo deserves a proper burial? You're just as much of a bastard as he was, and you use your religion to your advantage like he did, so it's only appropriate that you, as his equal, bury him, right? While he does that, look, it's Little Shit! We know. We already knew even before you introduced yourself for the first time! Bah, we just-- Yeah, that. Wait a minute... I remember this. It's the exact same as the other route! Yeah, I quickly skimmed through it, and this part is identical to its route B equivalent. Well, guess that speeds things up. Yeah! I love me some dead true enemies of the people! But before that, the loot. livelihood [lahyv-lee-hoo d] noun 1. a means of supporting one's existence, especially financially or vocationally; living: ...as opposed to, y'know, your very lives that Orlo's bandit allies threatened to take? Eh, you're the Moneyman, after all. I guess the meme wasn't entirely exclusive to chapter 1. Woohoo! Wade's promotion! No, I'm sorry, but at this point, I think it's more important that Wade can keep up to Lot and Echidna than Gonzo being a little bit better or Geese sucking a little bit less. Well, then. Next time, we storm Jutes and meet my favourite character in FE6, and one of my overall favourite characters in the series, as well as the very first character to attain such a status. Until then, don't you dare fare unwell! To be continued. Death count: Bors Wolt Deke Lugh Rutger Noah Clarine Lance Jerrot Fir Wendy Ogier Treck Barth Bartre Elen *Discharged *Retreated after being wounded *Only dead in route B *Only dead in route A Reset count: 5 Dishonorable reset count: 1 Merlinus death count: 8 You know, I just counted our deaths thus far. 17, counting both of Ogier's deaths as two separate deaths. The last LP had 19 casualties in total. Holy crap.

Dayni
I know I'm not much of a cat person but sorry for your loss. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: I must say, I dig your new profile picture and description... however that little text under the picture is actually called? The text under just says what rank you are on the site, unless you're on about something else. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: EDIT: hey, Ruben from the future here. Hence why I did say if you knew who I was on about. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Aha! Your memes have backfired! It was a devil meme! Urk! 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: But recruiting him isn't hard... I still don't get what the whole fuss is all about. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like pulling strats where I have to pull an enemy into a player unit's range to recruit. Also like my healers on horses usually to be fair but that's tangential to this point.. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Actually, divine has the same might as elfire and flux, so while yes, light magic in general sucks, Orlo in particular does not. He's just a fair boss, unlike the others who relied on being far too strong for such early bosses, or having nosferatu. It's the accuracy that sucks here. Dark at least has Nosfertanking going for it. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: Hahahahah. Excellent. What's with the eyes, though? They look weird. May I remind you that there are multiple longbow (can't get close enough) and steel bow (can't even rely on the longbow being too weak) Archers defending the area, as well as Fighters and Shamen? Fliers can drop units over the wall. Even Shanna can do it. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: He also has 14% more chance to hit. Sorry, Echidna, you've great waifu potential for one with weird tastes such as myself, but it had to be said. Well, axes suck in this game, this isn't too surprising. Also, that's no good for me. 6 hours ago, Saint Rubenio said: His speed growth sucks in FE7. It's actually the same as in FE6! Clearly didn't recall it. Saint Rubenio
... I... I won't allow you to... uarrk! Let go... let go of me-- of you! Don't you dare... and with my body, no less... don't! ...? Haark... you cannot stop... a man in... auuruguhh...! Nooooo...! Filthy urchin! L-Lady Echidna! What? Here. You dropped this during the battle. Oh, my right pendant! I've been looking for it. Thanks... Uh... Ruben. That's a man's name, isn't it? It's... complicated. Besides, so is Echidna. Hmph. Touché. Well, see you around, Ruben. Yeah, of course. ...why, you... why didn't you tell me all you wanted to do was to give her back her pendant?! I thought you knew! We share a brain! Our minds are not one. Eh, good to know, although five minutes earlier wouldn't have hurt. Hmph... but then, what were you saying back there? With that "a man in..."? I don't even know what I was saying! I was wrestling myself! How was I supposed to think my words through when my hands are trying to break my own nose?! ... Part 23 - Dragonforce. I use that picture because I honestly love it. The text under just says what rank you are on the site, unless you're on about something else. Ah, I see. Now I feel stupid. Well, guess my rank is "frosty" then? Hence why I did say if you knew who I was on about. And I knew! Uh, at some point. Urk! Hahahahah... sounds of increasing disconfort much, dear Dayni? I'm the kind of person who doesn't like pulling strats where I have to pull an enemy into a player unit's range to recruit. No pain, no gain, as they say. Also like my healers on horses usually to be fair but that's tangential to this point.. Bah, you're not gonna forgive me for that one, are you? Cecilia is better anyways! It's the accuracy that sucks here. Dark at least has Nosfertanking going for it. Dark's amazing in this game, it's incompatible with the "at least" expression. About the actual point... yeah, fair enough. I may have realised the pupils weren't in it and proceeded to just put a dot in each and want "Job done" Hahahah. I feel you, mate. Fliers can drop units over the wall. Even Shanna can do it. Yes, but then the longbows destroy her. Really, it's best to get them there on foot. As you witnessed in the last couple of updates, there really wasn't that much of a hurry. True hit. I suppose. I doubt it'd be exactly 14%, no more, no less, but I digress. About taking the time on a unit who needs a lot of time to get good which might not be worth it? Uh... Alright to be fair, Wendy also needs it in Heroes. She can actually tank pretty well though. I mean, she can't do anything at all in this game. She really should've been a Soldier. It would've helped her. At least she would've been unique. Well, axes suck in this game, this isn't too surprising. Hence why I am using all four dedicated growth axemen. Also, that's no good for me. Bwahahah. What, can't handle a real woman? Hahah... Quite ironic, considering Echidna is far from real, in a certain sense of the word. Clearly didn't recall it. But that's still 2 below average and I couldn't use him in the endgame. Still had his uses, but still. 12 speed with mediocre defense doesn't have its uses, it's benching material. Sorry to pop your bubble, but it's true. Well, if the resistance is left with steel axes, makes sense to steel themselves from someone else's armoury. Even if they need to steal it. Oh my God, you did it! The absolute madman! Her place? A chance to be a hero. Not a bad place. Not at all. I just love how the axe looks in this screenshot. Like he's just trying to do a pose with it. Something like this? Why be sad? Treck's future buddy is a good ally. I'm not sighing because of Gonzo being good, I'm sighing because of Geese being horrible in comparison. Also, Gonzo can't keep up with Treck. The drama from this was fun. Course, the drama died down pretty quick when Lot just did it. :P Yeah, such a shame Wade didn't die, amirite? I won't. I'll still push Gonzy, but you're free to give Geese a chance. It would be hilarious if half of our army was comprised of the worst weapon type in the game. That's a nice start. Indeed it is. SPAM ALL THE LEVELS! Yeah! DIES IRAE! That's twice you've used that one. Not bad, but we'll be needing a new one soon. At least he can dodge. At least he doesn't suck like handsome merchant man. I won't. Your loss on this. I was going to ask you what you meant, but... 11 hours ago, Dayni said: I can't edit this for some reason, but I meant something along the lines of "You're the one taking the risk here, credit where credit's due." You beat me to the punch. It's not much of a risk, really. In the DS games, the arena is neigh impossible to use, but here? It's extremely easy. Here, take a gander. I didn't use this screencap in the update, but this is the closest she came to dying, and all I had was press B and it was over. So long as you remember not to bet over 750 gold, and to retreat as soon as the character's in danger of dying, there isn't the slightest chance of losing anybody. That's why I felt it was a little cheaty, although my decision to promote her at level 19 eases my mind somewhat. I thought BS did as well. As far as I know, no, it doesn't. I think that's a stretch of a pun. The man isn't joking around, stop him. Being a tyrant, killing innocents by working them to death at the mines... that's all fine and dandy, but making puns!? Unacceptable! The Castor of lecherous priests trying to preach at someone. Least it's less horrifying than some real people. That moment when you realise the only reason he's not as bad as real people is that he's not real. Also Saul, we need to talk. Periods matter. You need to take them seriously. Why, this reply was shorter than your previous ones! I want more! Humour me! 19 hours ago, DestructionDragon360 said: !!! Gonzales got Res! This is cause for celebration! pops confetti everywhere now if only he'd get some more skill Hey, skill is the worst stat, is it not? Spoiler At long last! No more routes left, it's time to finish this. Even the narrator roasts Arcardo when given the chance. Seriously, after Orlo, this guy is is gonna be a huge let down. Well, how do you think, Roy? Because it's probably not what will happen, which is something along the lines of "no time, we're back to fighting Bern again". Trading mosaic. It's so refreshing to have weaponery to spare. Here's today's team. Rather predictable, I would say. No space for Tate, I'm afraid, but that's fine, next up is a sidechapter, and much like the last one, it's little more than training grounds with some fog thrown in for variety's sake. ...wait, I have no chest keys. Well. Sue's out too, then. And Astolfo takes a vulnerary, just in case. If you thought they'd had enough with repeating the words "true enemy", think again. These are Arcardo, obviously, and Flaer, Narcian's adjutant. He has a neat stache. Arcardo's whole character is that his pants are full of shit all day long. Ah, good ol' underestimating the enemy. Never gets old. You and your boss could've destroyed us all on your own, had you attacked us back in chapter 4. Actually, I think he does. Better than you, at that. You see, your mistake is that you give your own well-being a value when it doesn't have one. 'Cause you're worthless. Boy, I feel so bad for you. I'm cryin' overhere. Oh, wait, I'm sorry, these are just leftover tears from Orlo. What legacy? A nincompoopy chicken such as yourself can't possibly have descendance. Flaer's no Orlo, but I like him as well. He's a decent bad guy, and he's got his moments, like him openly mocking Arcardo. Of course, Arcardo is too dumb to realise that he's being made fun of, and just jumps on the opportunity to not have to do something by himself. Flaer's plan is actually rather good, you'll see. He'll get screwed over by gameplay shenanigans, though. Still, good effort. Well, it's confirmed. Etruria are assholes. Surprise? No, my man, he is letting you leave them to him. And only for a particular reason that will be revealed shortly. That's a big "if". We've got Lot. What do you have? Here's Roy. Those trees do not match the yellowness of the countryside. Oh, dear, that sounds like trouble. Never mind. Why the secretism, though? I don't understand. If he knows more, why not tell us? If he doesn't know any more, why not simply say "I don't know much about the unhumans"? Why the dramatism? Well, whatever, let's take a look at this beautiful, stainless map. It's a cool enough map. As you can see, the army is initially divided. That's why I wanted to have two thieves: sure, Chad could've done both rooms, but we need him on the west side, and I'd rather have the chests taken care of before the inevitable enemy Thieves appear. There's also the detail that this chapter has a 20 turn limit if you want to get the true ending, Armads, some treasure, and an easy chapter to train up the new recruits and the stragglers. I really can't afford to mess this one up. And that includes having one lone, untrained Thief handle absolutely everything. The boss is not that threatening. He's got high strength, defense and HP, but other than that, his stats are not much to write home about. What really brings him down, though, is that as a flaer-- flier, sorry, he can't take advantage of the enormous throne bonuses. Another crippling flaw of his is that he lacks a ranged weapon for some reason, and I'm not fooling anyone, am I? Anyhow, let's begin with some fancy lights! I wish they'd done something similar to Lot's unique "helmet matching hair colour, shirt matching shirt colour" Warrior palette. Instead, we get Generic Allied Warrior #1, the first of a proud series starring Wade himself, FE7!Bartre, Ross, and to a lesser extent, Garcia. In any case, we've got Bartre but better now! Mostly thanks to that speedwing. Not much else happens in the west side. Just some jeiganing to get us started. To the east, Saul does some smiting for the first time. I hope he gets some more magic. Unlike other weapon types, light users can't rely on getting better weaponery, since there's a divine tome in chapter 15 and... that's all they get until the last chapter of Ilia/Sacae. That's the sleep range. If he goes after the eastern group, it'll be perfect, since Saul has his restore staff. If he doesn't, well, guess we'll just have to pray to Ayatolah that Chad doesn't get hit. Look, it's the real boss! As well as a sneaky eavesdropped at the door. Meet Ein. He might as well have no portrait. I suppose they needed an excuse for writing Flaer out of the chapter, but... paperwork? Really? That's the best they could think of? Ein also might as well have no dialogue, because his whole character is that he's a dragon. Dragons are ominous and don't speak much. The end. Goofiness then ensues. No, IntSys, you're not selling me on this boss. Less is more: Orlo didn't have the wind pulling pranks on his interlocutors, yet he was the best boss. We will, easily. They will. Not all of them, but my point stands. No, they're not! Stop it! Telling me to be scared of this guy isn't going to make me be scared of this guy! And so, he leaves. Man, he was looking good initially, but as soon as Ein entered the scene, he turned into a dumbass like the rest. Maybe that's the dragon's special power... Oh, my, now I really feel threatened. Bah, we'll worry about that later. For now, let's see what the eavesdropper has to say. They're trying to hard, it's adorable. But if it means Raigh gets screentime, I'm fine with it. That "pose as a soldier" thing was a hint, actually. Raigh will act like Jeorge in FE12: if you approach him, he'll attack, but he'll otherwise stay put. Now, if only Wendell had acted similarly, he would've actually made sense. With the dialogue over, we can focus on the carnage. People always complain about Priests and Clerics taking ages to train. Well, first, that's not true in a casual run like this: I promoted Saul just as his tomes became obtainable, and only a single one of those levels was an arena level. Second, there's a catch. If you don't know what it is, keep on reading, and you shall soon find out. If you do, keep on reading, I want views. Echidna is also attacked, so we get to see that amazing sprite of hers. If you take your eyes away from that, though, you'll notice that these idiots 2HKO her. Jeez. Now, imagine if I made her use axes like the BEST AXE USAH IN DA GAIM she is. We'd be facing an Ogier situation at this point. Nice! Astore dodges the sleeping fumes. That's convenient. This guy... doesn't dodge the physic, which isn't convenient. That's a crit! The churchies get to work. Bigger, stronger, faster, better. Even Dorothy's baby blue arms are starting to grow on me. Although I definitely prefered the brown tones. Suddenly, a level! Yep, Bishops and Valkyries (if I recall correctly) gain experience extremely fast. I'm not sure if they're quite as high as the unpromoted EXP gains, but at most, they're only slightly lower, and certainly a far cry from the usual promoted gains. That, far from helping them to catch up, just makes them go from lagging behind the rest of the army to surpassing everyone, in terms of levels. FE class over, let's say something about the level itself. It's okay. It cements Saul's position as the fastest member of the team, and his low magic is actually kind of excusable thanks to him attacking res instead of defense like Echidna. And lightning tomes have 5 might, which isn't that bad, all things considered. Geese kills the Knight Dorothy jeiganed for him. Astolfo opens the door to the first treasure chest, and Marcus rides forward. I can't really think of anything for him to do down where the rest of his group is (Dorothy and Saul can handle everything, and if Saul is the one to get the kills, it won't even be a waste of experience), so he'll just rush ahead and scout the perimeter. Roy gets a kill? Le shock! I considered giving this to Lilina or Gonzales, but those two can get kills any time they want, while Roy... really can't. Much like Marcus, Treck charges forward. Unlike the good Oifey, however, he'll be doubling back soon. he's got more important things to do. Turn's all but over, but before I actually hit "end", let's direct our attention to this suspicious-looking Shaman. Look, he's got a Banhammer Lady Book! Woo forum jokes! Am I popular enough to make those? I don't think so, but this is a free country, so... Eclipse's... unfortunate. On paper, it's amazing, since it reduces the target's HP to 1 instead of halving it. However, it also has the lowest accuracy in the game, at the whopping (yey I finally learnt the correct spelling for this) amount of 10. This means it's never going to hit. Even Raigh with maxed skill and supports would have a hard time hitting anything not made of concrete. Treck does the Lex dance. Lot thanks his bow for existing by giving it a hug. He really missed having an accurate weapon. I'm happy too, Lot, but control yourself! You're in the middle of the-- You know what, on second thought, 4 damage. Take your time. Nobody is hurt this turn. Especially not Chad. Let's take a moment to think over the fact that Chad, a unit we dropped back in chapter 8 and barely trained at all (he got 2 level ups), has a 1% chance of being hit by eclipse. That's very impressive, in a way. The same way Tommy Wiseau's acting is impressive. Nice! Great! I'm really happy with Astolfo's overall performance in this run thus far. He hasn't done much, but what he's done, he's done well. Also, this guy has made the worst mistake of his life. So long, gay Priest! Astolfo swipes a lancereaver. Cool. Although I don't know who could use this. All the swordlocked units are dead or unrecruitable, Roy can't fight, and everyone else has other options to fall back on. Marcus keeps running ahead. I find this part to be rather funny. I really had no idea what to do with the man. Saul cannot be killed, nor hit critically, by this Sniper. Therefore... He'll be using him for get some light training. Chad opens the door to the western treasury, and Treck quickly rushes inside and destroys the foolish Shaman. Wade heals up, and it is at this point that it hits me that this side has no healers. Crap. Thank goodness I bought a few vulneraries in the last chapter. For the longest time, I wasn't the kind of guy to rack up vulneraries, but I'm glad I became one this time. This team would be screwed otherwise. That's it for turn 2. Once again, the Archers fail at life. They couldn't even hit Geese, that's how pathetic they are. Although, I'd like to stress the fact that Geese is being outperformed by generic Archers. Generic. Archers. Good God, this guy needs so much help, I don't even know where to start. Dorothy is screwed over by the RNG, but fret not, the Sniper is stationary. I'm 87% sure. I... really hope that 13% isn't procced. Great. No crits this time, sadly. Just Saul trying to fly off like Superman. Fuck off, Saul, you're nowhere nearly as kind as Superstu is. If anything, you'd be... Doomsday. Yeah. Sounds about right. No, I don't know jack shit about Superman. I'm just blindly throwing a reference at the wall, hoping it'll stick. Well, did it? Urgh... this guy is far less reckless than his late colleague, using his staff's range to the fullest in order to avoid the arrows and the misused heavenly light. Done with the small room, Astolfo proceeds to the real deal. Geese just follows Marcus, as I can't think of anything for him to do either. Oh, of course! Marcus can start working on this wall so we won't have to waste any time later! That sleep range (because yes, there are two sleep assholes in this map) may seem scary, but don't worry. I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't move. Whoa, Wade doubling someone! Amazing! Lot destroying everything is just routinary stuff. Chad retrieves an aircalibur tome. That'll be incredibly useful in a couple of chapters, assuming Lilina survives that long. Her horrible defenses really worry me. Although, we did get another angelic robe last chapter... Treck! I could understand this from Wade's handaxe, but this isn't reasonable! Saul fails to murder this Sniper in one hit, so he risks being skewered. Although, looking at this, it occurs to me that he might just've been toying with him... Oh, no, the power's getting to his head. Abort! Abort! We must revert this promotion at once! By the way, no, I didn't edit this in. In FE6, for whatever reason (I'm thinking glitch), the Bishop's post-attack animation has that critical hit frame thrown in the middle of it. I don't mind it, though. It just means this has a chance of happening. Well, that should be it. Echidna! Echidnaaaaaaaaaaa! Are Heroes cursed in this game?! Is this my punishment for uninstalling FEHeroes after it asked me to install a weighty update when I'm always starving for more storage space on my phone?! Nobody else can reach her, though, so I guess she'll live to fight another day. Now that she's got a baby blue quiver, there is no stopping Dorothy. She's come such a long way since the day I had to sacrifice my mounted healer to ensure her survival... I regret nothing! Goodness gracious, Lot's been hit! They didn't even make it into his second lifebar, but... good effort, guy. Now die. Stop it, you! A few people are in need of some healing. Medicine and Saul shall remedy that. Ooohohohohohohohohohohohohohoh! Mighty Wyvern Lords of Bern! Your doom is at hand! Geese is doing surprisingly well. I mean, he hit once! Now, if I could get him a support partner... let's check out his options. Hmmmmmm... I don't know, Echidna's taken, Cath sucks ass, Lalum's not the sort of unit to hang out with an axeman and Garret might as well replace Geese... uh... oh! Perfect. Douglas it is. Now, before continuing, allow me to ensure the text is still inside the spoiler box, because that picture is huge and it might lead to accidents happening. 'Cause you know, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me thrice, I'm a fucking idiot and I'd rather avoid that. Marcus keeps on doing this. I figured I would save some time by making him use his axe. Lilina kills a guy and is promptly rescued out of harm's way. Attagirl! Flux! That's interesting. In what's actually a display of really good game design, Raigh starts with a rare, valuable tome for plot reasons, and we can't buy flux tomes until chapter 13, but so as to not make using Raigh before then painful, they put this here. Good thinking, IntSys. Thank you for being considerate for once. Treck does what he failed to accomplish last turn. So far, so good. I knew for a fact Roy couldn't get killed, but I still feared for his life here. Whoa, Geese. He's doing a decent job! How positively unbelievable! Oh, doggone it all! The sleep asshat has just enough range to defend the broken wall from attackers! Except Marcus has great res, so his chances are next to null. You rule, old-timer. Keep the good work up. While ensuring the wall creeps closer to its inevitable fate, Marcus can also trick the Priest into wasting all of his sleep charges. Multitasking! Saul and Dorothy, having wiped out the enemies near the entrance, move north towards Marcus and Geese. Astolfo keeps the lootin' up. Another Elysian Whip? I only have one flier! Roy heals up. C'mon, boi, just a bit further! You can make it through alive! Trading chain to get Lot a vulnerary. Remember when he took exactly ten damage and I praised the culprit for being the only one who put a dent in Lot's flesh? No more. If you were worried Chad is too far away from Raigh to be able to recruit him in a reasonable amount of time, don't worry. I am prepared. Treck's bulky enough to make it through, even with the rescue penalties. Lot's lacking strength meant he'd be leaving this guy at exactly 1 HP. He wasn't having any of that, though. I've lost count of the Lotcopters, but rest assured, it's bound to be a very high number. The rest is about what I was expecting. Wall's almost down, as is the sleep staff. By the time Roy gets there, there'll be virtually no threats left for him to face. I should probably be making Saul advance, but this was just too tempting. Level for Saul! Crud... Whatever. Astolfo gets us some more spending cash, and that's it for the treasure. This time, we didn't even give the enemy Thieves time to spawn and start giving us trouble! Dude, bows are supposed to be accurate! Don't do this to me, Lot! I was counting on you to nail both of those arrows! And of course, Wade doesn't get a critical hit. Rats! Dizzards! Lubberly scum-- No, wait. These are my best men. I won't insult them further, and I take back all the insults I've already thrown at them. But now I've a bunch of curses I need to get out of my chest... hmph... who's going to be the lucky one... Cath! Perfect! Lubberly scum! Caterpillar! Pithecanthropuses! Blunderbuss! Cyclotron! Dunderheaded Ethelreds! Zapotec! Weevil! Visigoth! Thundering nitwitted seagherkin! Subtropical sea-louse! Raggle taggle ruminant! Prattling porpoise! Odd-toed ungulate! Nyctalop! Meddlesome Cabin Boy! Licorice-livered lubberly scum in thousands of thundering typhoons! Biogas! Bumbling bimbo! Malfunctioning jetpack! Court clown! Roasted pork! ASSHOLE! Good, good. Feelin' better now. ... Jobbernowl! Interplanetary Pirate! Hydrocarbon! Princess Little Shit! Brainless carcass! Sinner! ... ...okay, that's enough, I think. I'm not sure, but I think she's supposed to be singing to the extremely stupid song that plays whenever she's on the screen. I don't like it. Two wrongs don't make a right. But maybe three will... so if I make Geese kill you for EXP... Nah. The viewers would give me crap about it. Can't have that, now. Wade is attacked by every enemy on sight, but to no avail. Wade's first copter! Attaboy. Sleep down! Excellent job, Marcus. Bah... Better. But you forced me to waste killer axe uses, Wade. That's no good. Wall down as well! Once again, excellent job, Marcus. I could've opened this door, but I'd rather let Cath do it. That way, she'll waste her turn, and Astolfo will be waiting behind the door to steal her lockpick after she opens it. Other than that, Echidna takes the lead. Well done. You still need defense, but well done nonetheless. Just as planned! Are you serious? You can't be serious. Look, it's the discard option! It's not used very often, since most of the time, you can just send surplus items to Merlinus. Not here, though. Well, R.I.P. almost empty vulnerary, I suppose. There's a lesson about wasting a precious resource hidden somewhere around here, but I've no time to try and find it. Very well, Cath is neutralized. Not that there was anything left for her to steal, but... uh... It seemed like a brilliant tactical decision at the time, but now that I think about it, I really achieved nothing with this. Meh. At least I got to be an asshole to Cath, that's always nice. Die, Pri-- Hmm... no, hold on. Don't die just yet. You die, Cath! Now, while we marvel at this beautiful sight, let me explain myself. No, I'm not going to kill Cath. Marcus can't double her. I just want to force her into healing mode. ...no, I really just wanted to be an asshole to Cath, that's always nice. Echidna, Wade, and who knows because flashbang kill stuff. I hereby declare this coast to be clear! Thus, it's safe to let Chad use his own legs. Very well. Everything's coming up Ruben thus far. I hope it stays that way. If we got through two chapters in a row without casualties, it would be so swell. I thought I was so clever when I decided to make Lilina fight this guy on her own, thinking she might be able to finish him the following turn. I was so wrong. Time to converse with the best unit! ...next time. I reached the end of the imgur album for the first half of this update, which usually takes me longer, and I thought "since I'm keeping such a good pace, should I just push the whole chapter in one go, or give them an early update?". It should be obvious what my decision ended up being. So! Without further ado, let's start waiting for the next update. If it's anything like this one, it shouldn't be too long a wait. Whatever the case: keep on faring, everyone. Until next time! To be continued. On paper, it's amazing, since it reduces the target's HP to 1 instead of halving it. However, it also has the lowest accuracy in the game, at the whopping (yey I finally learnt the correct spelling for this) amount of 10. This means it's never going to hit. Pffft, I hadn't even noticed it, but his coat's interior really is brown! Jeez, Arcardo, why? Why are you so bad? What plan? He literally has a dragon stand around holding his seat. That he can't sit in. Yeah, but at least it's a plan that exists. How many other villains we've met thus far had a plan? There's Orlo, then Zinque is a copy-paste of Orlo but taking out all the good things, Legance's plan might as well not even exist given how counterproductive it was, Ruud started the chain reaction that will culminate in Zephiel's defeat, and everyone else were low-ranking idiots under somebody else's orders, or bandits! Flaer is second only to Orlo in terms of how competent he is. Not that that's saying much. Elphin's testing him? I got nothing. Eh, that's a very Delphin thing to do. Little Shit... Knowing Narcian, he needs a full presentation in person. With a rousing applause for himself. Chapter 16 can't arrive soon enough. Especially since we have to go through 14 to get there. I don't actually dread 14 as I dreaded 7, but it's still scary. He actually doesn't move if you're in range. Raigh's considerate like that. Yeah, actually, I thought about it, and he doesn't actually act like Jeorge: in Hard, Jeorge doesn't do anything unless you attack him. Raigh acts like a boss: he doesn't move, but if you put someone within his magic's range, he'll attack. Hint hint? What hint? I've made it very clear before that Raigh's going to get used, just as I have always used him. Treck needs the brave axe now. With his initial E rank? Pfft. It's not happening. The brave lance is going straight into his arms when we get it, though. Echidna can fight lances without using axes? Meh. Not bad a use, I suppose. Saul just stands about posing as he kills a guy. Although... somehow, I think that could be arranged... ...oh, crap, is that Hello Kitty?! Now people will mistake me for that sort of person! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooo...! Spoiler Let's pick up where we left off, with some recruiting! Most people recruit this guy with Lugh, but since Lugh's unavailable, we get to see Chad's version! Isn't that great? ... ... Raigh tries his damnest to seem like an edgy boy, but he really isn't. This conversation is also extremely depressing. And you won't be with us, because you're horrible at fighting! I sure hope so! This guy's my favourite unit. Of course, Raigh feels the need to come off as an ass. It works. Oh, don't worry, he's not going anywhere between you and the bench. There's only one direction he's going to, and that's forward! Okay, let's talk about his stats now. Ah, Raigh. Raigh's the best elder magic user in the game. Whereas Sophia's Sophia and Niime's a completely different sort of unit (people tend to compare all three Druids, and I think that's a mistake, since their class is where the similarities between Raigh and Niime end), Raigh's a pretty good combat mage. He suffers from the usual arbitrary IntSys bullshit of giving Shaman (apparently their plural's just "shaman"? I'm a little confused, can someone confirm this for me?) just enough con so that they can't lift flux without losing a point of speed, and his bases are rather low. However, his offensive growths are pretty good for this game's standards, and with the second guiding ring a few chapters away, he's got plenty of time to get to level 20 and promote. Speaking of promotions, Raigh is one unit who really, really benefits from promoting, more so than most other units, in my opinion. Not only does it fix his mediocre bases and grants him the ability to heal, but it also allows him to use flux without losing speed, and nosferatu losing only a single point. That's crazy, considering how amazing nosferatu is in this game. Overall, I find Raigh to be a very fun unit to use, and an even better character. I did say Lilina could use our second angelic robe, but now that my favourite character has entered the stage and has bad HP as well, her chances of getting the statbooster have been severely diminished. Also, I worry that the drama might've been too much for my usual "crappy action, self-inserts, butchering character's personalities" style, but hey, if Super Paper Mario and M&L: Partners In Time got away with it, so can I. To a much lesser extent, of course. Those didn't murder kids. Saul brings this guy down to a measly 2 HP. I figured he might be a juicy EXP bag for our newly recruited Dark Mage. Well, that's my plan to make Lilina do something on her own ruined. There might still be hope, though. Ahahah... so it begins. The beginning of the end of Lot's mortality! Really? I don't know, it doesn't seem like it to me. Here it comes. Echidna's infamous village gimmicky. Sounding very Uncle Sam there, Echi. Good guy Lot. As depressing as always, though. Once again, good guy Lot. He also is far too modest. C'mon, guy, you can't die. You're a better tank than any of this game's armor knights! You've got the speed and the defense! All you're lacking is strength, and that's an easily fixed issue. Pfffft... you mean, like yourself? I know, I know, Middle Ages of Anime, Wolf exists and all that, but... seriously! They gave that line to a young-looking character with white hair! That can't be a coincidence! The sneaky devils must've done it on purpose! Damnit, Echidna, now you've done it. Now he has one more thing to worry about. Oh, boy. Echidna's ice affinity doesn't increase Lot's attack, sadly, but... now he gets 2 points of defense, so long as both of his pals are within a distance of 3 tiles. Think about it. 2 points of defense, on top of his already brilliant defense. Holy Moly. Okay, that's it for the turn. Lots of plot to get us started, but other than that, not much happened. Reinforcements are inbound, but don't worry. They might not even exist in this chapter, that's how far away from the action they appear. Shall we start a "game tries to make Ein look intimidating when he really isn't" counter? There's Cath. I'm not sure what her AI'll be doing now that she's got nothing to open. I hope nothing bad. I'm telling y'all right now, if she goes somewhere Roy can't recruit her without wasting too much time, I'm sending Marcus to kill her. I am NOT letting her appear in chapter 16. That one's got enough to worry about without Cath. Roy's so bad, I swear. I'm glad they let him be intelligent, otherwise, I wouldn't stand him. Saul trains his light magic up some more. Yeah... I don't think this is going to work. This turn, nothing much happened. Next turn, I don't expect much more to happen. Aside from the RNG screwing me over. It's fine, he's got a 66% chance to hit. According to basic statistics, he'll hit next turn. Since he's here, I figured I might as well let him put his thieving arts to some use. Look, it's another support convo! Yeah... Echidna's a really unfortunate case when it comes to supports. She's a good character, but by God, most of hes supports are mediocre. Here, they thought "hey, let's make it sort of like Bord and Cord! Even though Wade and Lot are far more interesting characters than those two!". But at least, Wade's personality is different enough to that of Lot's that his responses are quite different. The problem with Echidna, which the guys who made the Bonding Blade series described best, is that the focus is more often than not on her interlocutor, not her. That's not bad for mentor-like characters such as Yodel, but for Echidna, it doesn't work that well. Eh, at least everything other than her supports are badass. Seriously, look at that headband. I'm sorry for being so persistent, but this is reminding me of the "write this sentence in present simple and present continuous" exercises that were the bulk of most of my early english classes, and that really isn't good. Look, a new line from Echidna! Now that's a shocker. The conversation deviates from Lot's version here, since Wade's... ...not a good guy, like good guy Lot. Okay, I take everything back. She has her moments. Bwahahahah... She's gone from "great heroine of the Isles" to "typical politician", just like that. Sorry, Echidna. I underestimated you. Who would've thought, it'd be Wade who'd get the best out of you, not Lot. Astolfo helps Saul Jeigan this priest for Raigh after he's done with the other one. Next turn, Ein's downfall shall commence. Speaking of whom, here are his stats. Ein... Ein sucks, honestly. I know, I know, 23 defense, 22 strength and all that, but his speed is so bad, the only unit he could ever double is a weighed down Wendy at base, and most importantly... ...he can't attack at range. Yeah. A boss without a ranged weapon this far into the game. He's so screwed. Look, the reinforcements! I really hope you didn't leave anyone in the starting area. Raigh! No! Why are you doing this to me, RNGoddess? Meh. Not bad, but not worth it either. Slightly better. Oh my Gawd, so scuuuurrehh! Yeah, no. Meh, still, I'll probably need a faster way to chip this guy down. In the end, I opted for giving Roy this Priest kill. Like Lilina and Gonzo, Raigh can get kills any time he wants, while Roy can't. Hey, that's pretty good! Shame it doesn't make you any less bad. Geese and Chad will be making sure nothing bad happens. A.K.A. yeah, reinforcements would come out of those stairs and I don't want to be bothered. Well, he hit once, at least. Son of a-- The reinforcements begin to move towards us. There are Wyverns, sure, but they have to circle aroud the whole map, while the infantry just has to walk the same distance we walked. Saul and Lilina keep bringing Ein down. Meanwhile, Raigh's finally done with the Priest. Very good. It'll take two more turns, tops. It's at about this point that I went "oh, fuck, I forgot about Cath!". Shouldn't be too much of a problem, assuming she doesn't decide to try to actively avoid Roy or something. We'll have to proceed to plan B if that happens. In the meantime, let's keep on making Ein look like a chump. Seriously, IntSys, what were you thinking? You just don't give a boss no ranged weapons. These guys are getting dangerously close... I hope Cath doesn't-- Hah! Perfect! More than perfect... magnificent! Thank you, Cath! Attack... so tempting. Well, yes, but that's unrelated. Actually, all I remember is you being very reasonable after she blamed you for things some other asshole did. But she shouldn't steal, that's the truth! She'll end up getting killed! By us! Of course you don't. Why would you? That would make you a decent human being, and that's just incompatible with yourself. Good, good! You tell her! You're one to talk! Jeez! Roy, I'm sorry, but... how are you going to do that? Do you even know where she's from? Eh, at any rate, it's a good way to stop her from being an ass. No, Miss Cath, I expect you to die! Yes, I'd like to know as well. You're too nice, Roy. She may've accidentally saved you, but she's still a crappy person. Actually, this gets me thinking... Cath's quite the traveler, isn't she? She made it to Ostia at the same time as us, an army marching at speed, and now, she got the Jutes just in time to inconvenience us slightly. It's a little weird when you think about it. Perfect. Now sit on the bench. It was too much to ask that she just fucked off and disappeared, was it? No, but she... So here's Cath. She gets Hard mode bonuses, 4 speed, 5 skill and 4 luck being the highlights. Other than that, though, she gets nothing for her survivability and combat, and she's level 5, which means she sucks ass and Astolfo is better than her in every way. Very good, and now we can seize as soon as Ein is downed. Oh, crap. Saul can no longer Jeigan. Meh... Wade may try to Jeigan him. Good, he missed the first shot. SERIOUSLY?!?! Oh, well. If he at least gets a good level... Baaaah... Eh, we've still got a couple turns. Let's not let this nice Warrior go to waste. 61 HP, everyone. It's a good thing he sucks in every other aspect. Good. Now, let's hope this works... Excellent! Oh, c'mon... I swear to God, if I get a RNG screwed Raigh, I'm cancelling the LP. Bah, no matter. Skill's not bad in this game. Hmm... okay, one more turn. Nice-- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Crap, that was intense. Let's not have that happen again. It'll get Saul to level up again, to boot! Man, I sure do love Fire Emblem! Lilina levels up as well. Hoo, this girl's determined to be great, isn't she? Raigh, too, gets some experience. Not quite enough to level up, but that's fine, he'll get plenty of chances next chapter. Squadala, we're off! Oh, please, it was. Literally the only time we were at risk was that one time Lilina almost died, and that wasn't anybody's fault but mine. No, it isn't! Mages laugh at the dragon's poowwaahh! Roy! You're supposed to be intelligent! That was the weakest boss we've fought thus far! Even Morgan posed more of a challenge! This scene is so stupid. I don't even know where to begin! Lot, panicking? Bitch, please. We get it! Cease this tomfoolery at once! That dragons are underwhelming? Yeah, "I told you". Let's conveniently say that, instead of "I fooled you into thinking that was the absolute truth, almost scaring you out of the Western Isles", shall we, Little Shit? Actually, we aren't going back to Lycia. It may seem like it, but we aren't. Remember, Cecilia is not at Lycia. She said she'd take care of Lycia, but she's not at Lycia. If we'd taken one more turn or two, that would've been the end of it, but since we were quick... This is completely wrong, by the way, as will become apparent in the next update. Cut it off with the dragons already! Ein is the strongest dragon in the game (I know, Jahn, but... let's not talk about Jahn yet), and he was extremely easy! If anything, those legendary weapons will be more useful to fight the overpowered, max-strength Wyvern Lords of Murdock! And Murdock himself, even though he doesn't have a Wyvern! That's right, although probably not in the way you're thinking, Roy. Next time, we'll go to a random cave and fight Bandits for the weapon that definitely shouldn't have been Hector's personal weapon. Until then, please, try to farewell. Even if just a little. To be continued. It hurts because ideally that's 100% of what I'd be using in BB. 5 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Pffft, I hadn't even noticed it, but his coat's interior really is brown! Jeez, Arcardo, why? I could go into how Frollo and Cornello are different from each other in how they treat those below them. Cornello was quite willing to live and let live with people if they toed the line. Frollo was willing to burn the city if need be, Cornello only started fighting when someone from Central started snooping. I mean, Cornello could have been attempting to make people in his congregation swoon for him, we don't get that much time to tell. 10 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I was actually expecting you to comment on "shit, Pent's gonna find out his daughter died". Raigh: certainly the best offensively. Niime's a powerful staffer and Sophia is alright when trained (especially tanking magic), but Raigh has enough base to work with and his growths add up. 22 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Also, I worry that the drama might've been too much for my usual "crappy action, self-inserts, butchering character's personalities" style, but hey, if Super Paper Mario and M&L: Partners In Time got away with it, so can I. Saint Rubenio
You there! The old guy! My, that's a rather rude thing to say. I've questions for you. Straight to the point, eh? Very well. How long-- I'll listen to you after you say "please". Hmph... I've questions for you. Please. Much better. Now, go on. ...how long have you been under Roy's orders? I met him a few months before all this started. Then you must know of the first tactician of the Lycian Army. A man named Ruben, apparently. ... Do you know his whereabouts? Well, I'm... not sure. Why do you wish to know? My brother is dead, and it's his fault. I must find him. ... There's no sense in hiding it, old man. I've been snooping around. I know he's your friend. You know where he is. ...I don't know what you're talking about. But I know this: if you're already seeking revenge at this age... you won't make it to adulthood. Who are you to judge me!? Your friend murdered my brother, and so many others, yet you would defend him?! You got it wrong! Bandits killed your brother-- --Because your friend didn't care about his soldiers' lives. He's just as responsible for it as the brigands were! ...let it go, kid... this will do you no good. Very well, then. If you won't help me, I'll just have to find him on my own. And then... Don't do this, kid! Think about your brother! Would he have agreed with this senseless bloodthirst of yours?! ... I know why he joined us. I know what sent him to his death, and it wasn't Ruben. It was his desire to avenge those killed by the war. He wanted revenge, but all he got was an untimely death. And you're following him, straight to the grave! Is that truly what you want? Do you truly think that's what he would've wanted for you? ...shut up. Shut up! I'm not listening to you anymore. I'm leaving! Hold on! ...oh, dear... this is bad news. I must speak to Ruben... Part 25 - Spelunking. On 1/3/2018 at 5:57 PM, Garlyle said: I know that feeling too. I call them Archers. Way to digress. Hah! Ooh, ok then. That's sounds promising. My bet is 16 turns then. I suppose that's a valid alternative. Holy moly, Roy's really growing strongly! Hopefully he'll be viable. Hate to rain on your parade, but... Not really? One person on their own tends to move faster than a larger group in this time. I was referencing Frost's backstory, but of course, why would you remember that? Frost is, after all, the most forgettable Archanean character. Meh, she can dodge. Is she better than Chad? Congrats, you have a backup thief. She is, but by a very slight margin. THAT FACE.The disapproval is strong. I mean, it ended well, but that was the biggest fuck-up I've made in a while. After not killing the last guy? You could have tried. Even if one of the Jeigans was the only choice. At this point, I just wanted to get outta there before I pressed the end button by mistake or something. Hell, maybe Cath could have got exp. :P Also, that simply cannot be. To be fair, this is the only one that doesn't move any time soon. Any of them would be concerning on EP. ...Extended Play? I mean, I get what you're trying to say, but what does EP stand for here? Leaving that aside, even if he could move, Ein would still be very easy. There are no enemies in his area until the reinforcements, and those start spawning very late into the chapter, so one would just have lure him to the hole in the wall, plug it with a strong unit, and then destroy him with magic. Hell, it would be even easier to defeat him then, since no throne means he'd take far less time. Two turns, at most! OHO. Who are these two? I doubt it's Murdock and it's certainly not Arcardo, so what's this element now? Yeah, no, uh, that's... that's definitely not Murdock, yeah. No spoilers there. Either way, it's one that we'll have to wait on. Yes. I'm going to get in on this: 3 turns. Also, Rubenio, don't make promises next to nobody can keep. Why, you... again, I need that Guiding Ring! 3 turns is not enough to get the Guiding Ring! Stop jinxing it, everyone! So we're off to get Armads. A weapon Hector loves so much that he's never been seen without it in art, either before or especially in Heroes. Hell, he takes it to a tournament in at least one timeline. Which everyone was rightfully concerned about. Much unlike Durandal, which is Eliwood's weapon, despite the fact that Hector lives next door to it, more or less. Also meanwhile, outside is like this. Hopefully I don't die. Ah, yeah, the weather was quite messy for a few days there. It was so bad, it snowed in my village. It never snows in my village, that's why it's so impressive. Rolls right off the tongue. Also, I find the fact that the game tried to convince us of Ein's power more times than Merlinus died positively depressing. I shall remedy that... Spoiler Last time, we beat a dragon and it was extremely easy. May I remind you Delphin said, when questioned about it, "no [bandits], thankfully"? Yeah. Would've been a really boring chapter without enemies to hit over the head, wouldn't it? Trading. Yeah, I'm giving Raigh the angelic robe, because 23 HP is just pathetic and I don't trust myself to keep him alive. Other than that, we're only bringing our scrubs, Lalum because she'll probably be useful, and Saul and Dorothy for Jeiganing and healing purposesl. I'll need them for the boss. A.K.A. the axe that dooms its wielder to a messy end at the battlefield, according to some unrelated Elibe spin-off. Oh, look. This guy. Last time, I put Scott Shelby over him and I was probably the only one to laugh at that. This time, I'll do nothing. I mean, the braindead face fits the braindead dialogue wonderfully. They won't, because me beating chapter 12 quickly means they're no longer relevant to the plot, and have thus vanished from the face of the earth. Not quite. You taking the treasure means we could bump into you at some point and take the treasure. But what am I saying, this guy probably can't think worth a damn. Yeah, he is. Let him believe he is in these, his final minutes before encountering the final mystery. Jeez, what's this, Banditcon 1020? They're all here! Hey, for a guy as stupid as this, that's quite impressive that he'd figure us out so quickly. Too bad his band poses the least threat we've faced in a while. Here's Roy. This cave sure is boring. Everything looks the same! Or maybe Roy just decided to move all the way to the throne to have a chat with Delphin, moving all the way back to the entrance afterwards. But that's too silly, right? Yes, Roy, that's exactly what he just said: Armads, axe of thunder. Perhaps when he was the one to swing it around, but I doubt someone like Geese would do quite as well. Hey, that's actually a rather good excuse. I'm proud of you, Little Shit. Also, it's not too clear, but I elect to believe Roy's messing with Delphin again here. Oh, so Delphin's a SJW. He considers noxious fumes to be people too. I'm not sure how I feel about that. What? That's like, the least of our problems here. Okay! So, now, the map! ...map? Map?! Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!! Yep, I forgot to screencap the map. Luckily enough, this map wouldn't have been of much help, because this is our second fog of war map! Still... ...hmm? What's that?... uhuh, I see... Good news, everyone! My assistant just gave me the map! It's a slightly inaccurate version of it, but it'll have to do. Veeeeeeeeeery slightly inaccurate version of it. So, yeah. This is a very easy chapter, aside from the Druid, of whom we'll see more later, and the boss, who's of course sitting on a throne in a cave. Begin! Geese Jeigans a guy for Tate. Steel axes suck so badly, even Geese can take on enemies carrying them! Now, before I forget... That's much better. Dorothy just barely fails to kill this Archer. That's good, though. It means more experience for the scrubs. Namely, Tate! Don't worry, she can take on the Bandit. She can't take an arrow, though, so... There we go! First level of the chapter right ther, everoyne! Speed's always good, especially when you don't have the con to lift your primary means of attacking. Very well, that's it. Let's see how this banditman handles his troops. Well, here's your answer: about as badly as he possibly could. Seriously, he did so many things wrong in just this one move, I don't even know where to start. Here's one of this chapter's gimmickies: a bunch of useless stuff is going to be stolen and we can't do anything about that. It's a poor gimmicky, just like the other one. Roy fighting! It goes about as well as could be expected. Heal up, useless Boi. Jeiganing. Nice! Dorothy is really proving her mettle in this run. Perfect frame to capture! The circle of flux. By the way, yes, he did hit. Worth a shot, as always. Dancing, healing, flashbangs! All that's lacking here is some trading and we'd have the full package. Hm, a Myrmidon, I see... we'd best tread lightly around him. Unlike the noxious fumes Delphin spoke of. Which means Saul-- Saul! No! This is the one good deed you perform on a daily basis! You can't afford to botch it up! Of course, taunt me as well. Piece of shit... Aaaargh! Gwoooh! Sheeeesh! C'mon, worth a shot, worth a shot... Baaaaaaaaaaah! Worth a fucking shot! Okay, then. You get the kill, Dorothy. At least none of the scrubs were left inside death's range. Although... might as well push my luck! That wasn't a very bright idea. Not that he was in any danger of dying, but... yeah. Geese can't use hand axes. Darkness engulfs the Brigand as he, in his final seconds, regrets all of his life choices. Great! Great one, Raigh! Splendid! Geese got a level! This is it! This is the level that shall turn the tide of Geese's battle for adequacy! Today, Geese-- Disappoints me again! Addle-pated lumps of anthracite! Dipsomaniac! Bath-tub Admiral! Certified diplodocuses! Jellied eel! Loathsome brute! Pestilential pachyderm! Ruffian! Squawking popinjay! Viper! Young monkey! Weevils! Vermicellis! Vandal! Tribe of Polynesians! Two-timing Troglodytes! Scorpion! Rotten sand-hoppers! God! What's wrong with this guy? Why can't he be as good as Geitz? I refuse to believe this buffoon is Geitz's brother! Then again, in most of my FE7 runs, Geitz didn't even exist because I like Wallace better, so... hmmm. Well, screw that. Let's open this chest and marvel at its magnificent contents: A useless piece of garbage. I use Astolfo to scout the perimeter before moving forward. Seems there's only one guy around. Argh! Well, there better not be anybody else around. I mean, I know for a fact that nobody else can reach Raigh, but I'm still worried. Can you blame me? This is Fire Emblem. Oki dokie. Let's keep moving. Astolfo does his job again. Let us advance with precaution. You know, this whole "secure what we stole" thingy fails hard because Idiot's dedicated pilferers only steal back the crap, while leaving behind the gems. Because, yes, there are gems here, and they're in no danger of ever being stolen. Dorothy Jeigans a Myrmidon. Look, an interesting frame! Damn, that bow's bigger than her head. Oh, please. Well, add one to the counter, you know the one. Okay, much better. Anyone else here feelin' déjà vu? Okay, that's it. This guy'll probably try to kill Geese. ...or not. You know what? That's a whopping 2 WEXP for Saul, and we all know how much Bishops need WEXP in this game, not to mention he still gets a good amount of normal experience thanks to being a man of the cloth. I think we're better off this way. More pilfering, but this time, we retaliate. Not too bad. This will come in handy. You may have it, Roy. Oh, shiet. We've got enemies on our tail! As well as a Druid somewhere! Eclipse's sprite is amazing. Such a shame the tome itself is horrible. Can't quite see the Druid yet, but we should soon enough. Sheesh, cutting it a little closer than I'd like there. We didn't accomplish much in that turn. Plan time. Step one: save Lalum's sorry, 5-move ass. Step 2: reveal the Druid. Exactly where the map told us he'd be! We better kill him before he switches to nosferatu, although if I'm not mistaken, these people usually prefer to throw eclipse shots around. Time for the final step of the plan: humiliate the Archer. I'll take care of these guys soon, don't worry. What?! No! That wasn't supposed to happen! Well, that's been Geese. If you have something important to say to him, I suggest you say it now. Oh. He lived. He wasn't even in any danger at all, since he couldn't get doubled. I should probably give him more credit. He's bad, but... not Wendy. I have no idea why this screencap exists. Maybe I was trying to show off the noxious fumes? If so, I failed miserably. It's this sprite again, except this time, instead of a blurry mess of pixels, Dorothy is shooting a q-tip at the Druid. Also, he's dead. I didn't want him to die yet, but Dorothy hit him critically. Raigh takes care of the Archer. I love Raigh's Shaman palette. It may be a little too colourful for a dark mage, but I honestly love it. It's a shame his Druid palette is so different. I like that one too, but this one's better, in my opinion. I'm tired of these two. Tate'll be skewering the Myrmidon, and before the Brigand has time to reach anybody, they'll both be dead. No more enemies anywhere near us. All according to plan. Saul takes care of everything else. More speed! More! He didn't cap speed before promoting, but now he's definitely going to make it. Only 4 points to go. This, however, is even more important. Aureola might just be usable at this rate. Another level for Raigh. Let it be good! Are you serious?! Not even HP?! He procced his 15% luck growth, and nothing else. I don't know whether to feel lucky or... The northernmost chest contains a white gem, which I want. Go, Astolfo! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh! Jesus Christ on a bike, I was not expecting that one. Bah... why are you doing this to me, Raigh? Revenge! Darkness... boulder? One more! No, I'm not biased in Raigh's favour, what do you mean Tate also needs experience? Okay, just one more kill and all the rest will go to Tate. We're fast approaching the clean-up phase. Lalum's at a clear disadvantage compared to other Dancers in the series, since she (and Delphin) have typical unpromoted caps. Very well, the cash is ours. The boss! I'll review him in a minute, but first... A little bit more cash. Very well. And now, the award to the stupidest spanish name in Fire Emblem goes to... Warrior the Berserker! Hell yeah! He was called Gelero in the old translation, which is completely stupid, but at least it isn't Warrior the Berserker. I don't even... Anyhow, as a boss, Guerrero isn't that tough. Just don't let him equip his hand axe and you'll be fine. The two guys below him don't move, and act as mini-bosses of sorts. I say "of sorts" becuase they're pathetically easy to deal with. Look at that. Even Raigh and his cumbersome con can double this guy. Still, this is the only flux tome we'll be getting until the end of chapter 13, so I'd rather save it a little. Hmph... well, not bad, but I'd like speed better. Hah. Yeah, no. Saul! Stop that! Okay, good. I probably shouldn't have done that, inmediately after Saul missed with an even higher chance of hitting, but eh. Time to take care of the boss. As usual, this is ridiculous. Even Saul and Dorothy struggle to take him out. Stupid thrones... That's his whole quote. He's Warrior, the Berserker! As usual, the plan is to waste time until we can kill him. Still not as bad as Legance. I doubt we'll ever get something as bad as Legance again. Still, just in case, we're at turn 17. 6 enemies, eh? I didn't notice that when I first played through the chapter, but as you shall soon see, it didn't matter. I'd forgotten this chest. Can you blame me? Oh. Well, that's convenient. Worthashot.png Worthashot2.png Fuck! I swear, if Dorothy dies because of the worst RNG ever... Good, good. Luck smiles my way, for once. Now we have to deal with him and his hand axe. Urk... Never mind. Thanks, Dorothy. Aha! Amazing level up, Dorothy! Like I said earlier, I didn't notice the fact that the objectives screen outright told me there were a few enemies left, so instead, I decided to go and explore the fog to find some more stray bags of experience. Basically, the result is the same. Oh. Pffffhahahahah. I forgot about Astolfo. Eh, at least I could finally screenshot the noxious fumes. There, there, don't make a fuss about it. Oh, my! Le shock! Enemies! Who could've foreseen that? At this point, I remembered Tate was in need of training as well, and so, I helped her move downwards. Saul and Dorothy move north to meet her: let the Brigand come to us. The Brigand... isn't coming to us. He didn't even try to flee, either. He was driven to a state of shock by heaven's light. Good for Tate. More enemies! These guys are honestly too pathetic. Oh, well. +2 WEXP, I suppose. This screenshot exists because I thought that would be the end of it, so I wanted to show you the fact that Tate would be left at 96 EXP 'til next chapter. Annoying. Thankfully, I decided to investigate a little further. Just what we needed. That's a... trippy frame. Why did the pegasus turn into an eagle? Why is it holding its hands as if it's about to dive into a pool? Why is Tate holding her lance with only one hand? Why is she throwing her other arm behind her head (over the pegasus' butt, if you don't see it)? Not bad, I guess... And that concludes Saul's light training for this chapter. Almost halfway through C. Not bad, not bad at all. Oh, I forgot another chest! Go get it before we seize, Astolfo. I... also forgot another Brigand. It's a good thing I didn't forget any more, because that would've been the end of Tate. Whoa, Peg Knight has a lot of weird frames, doesn't it? Although this is more "sexy hair" than anything else. Shame her hair is a green blob with 4 pixels of face underneath. Since Saul had only 2 uses left of his tome, I decided to give him the kill. This time for real, here's Saul's light rank: halfway through C. Very good, all things considered. Ah, torch. That'll be useful in two chapters. And thus, we seize Warrior the Berserker's throne. He won't be remembered. For whatever reason, Roy's hearing is worse than Delphin's. Then again, blind people are supposed to be the goodest in the ears, according to the internet. Good, they solved the mystery. Ah, redundancy. As we progress, it becomes more and more apparent that it is an important theme of this chapter's plot. Ahem. Stop repeating "Armads, thunder axe of Durban"! Are you really going to force us to make an ATTAoD counter?! Ah, the bad news. I'd like to know how this generic messenger knew we were in this cave, though. Oh, dear. That isn't very nice. Merlinus, tired of Delphin having taken his place as Roy's go-to Man Who Is Relevant To The Plot, barges in with one of his very own Merlinus Stupidly Useless Exclamations™. I wish he got a clue and stayed dead. What!? The King?!!?!?!? Never mind that, they got the King!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! As sad as it is, that's probably quite close to Douglas' actual reaction to these news. Yes, Merlinus, that is indeed what the messenger said, thank you. But at least you didn't say not Armads, Thunder Axe of Durban. Roy, ever the smart person, has his priorities straight: Cecilia first, then Guinivere, then at the very bottom, Mordred. Who at least has a name, which puts him... around one centimeter above King Aurelis of Aurelis...? Keep this line in mind. That's... quite a lot of current information for not having any current information. I swear, those two chapters of being replaced by Little Shit didn't do Merlinus any good. He could've been replaced by Gonzales, or Sue's brother, for what his lines thus far've been worth. She's with Cecilia, I'm sure they'll be fine. And thus, we get Armads, Thunder Axe of Durban. I didn't show off Durandal when we got it, did I? Oh, well, I remembered to show Armads, at least. Armads, Thunder Axe of Durban, is a pretty amazing weapon. 18 might, increases defense, quite lightweight... such a shame we can't use it, lest we risk losing the endgame. Well, that's it. Next time, a pretty good chapter. Do try to fare well until then. You there! The old guy with the cleric! How rude-- ...!? Did nobody ever tell you to be respectful to your elders?! Mm hm. Whatever. I have a question for you. Well? Do you know of a man named Ruben? Oh... him. Yes, I know him. Why? Could you tell me where he is? W-well, I'm sorry, I don't think we can tell you anything... I-- ow! Heh... heheh... ...is it because I was rude? C'moooon... rrrrgh... help a little kid in need... Pretty please...? N-no! We really don't know anything! ... ...well, then. Goodbye. ... ...could you please explain what in the world that was? That kid... he can't be up to any good. Hmph... what do you mean? Look at him! Does he not remind you of someone?! ...oh... oh, my, now that you mention it... so that's why he wanted to know where Ruben was. We can't tell him! ... Come now, Marcus... I won't tell him anything. Phew... thank you, Marcus. But I would like to know why you're acting so strangely. What is it that you're not telling me? Right... we never had the chance to tell you. Well, then, but I trust you to be discrete. I shall. Now, what's the big secret? You see... ... ... ... ...what... To be continued. Hell, it would be even easier to defeat him then, since no throne means he'd take far less time. Two turns, at most! Enemy Phase. I was initially going to use a Knight, but as you know, that didn't end well, and all the Cavvies are dead as well... Eh, either way, it's cash. So, today's trading shenanigans. Roy takes all of our cash to sell it in this chapter's shops, the troops load up on weaponery (notice Lot picking up the Armads. According to some fanfiction, that'll end really bad for him. Pfhah. We'll see about that...), and even though he isn't coming today, Astolfo picks up a torch, just in case I forget before next chapter. Remember how last time I remembered I never showed Durandal? Well, here it is. Echidna could really use it. It doesn't even weigh her down as her starting inventory, because in all these 20 years, it apparently went to the gym a lot and lost a lot of weight. Today's army. We had just barely enough space for all the troops. Frankly, I'd very much like it if it stayed that way. I really don't want to lose anybody else. Going for so long without losing anyone's not a good thing, in a way, since I've grown attacked to this group. Oh, well, if I lose anyone I really like, I can always write them into the crappy fanfic, and thus they'll technically survive. Man, now I'm really glad I'm putting an effort into making that. Before we leave camp, let's check out this thing here. It appeared at the same time as Delphin. It's just the ranks. Let's check 'em out while we're here. Wohohohoooooh! Fancy! The contrast went up by at least 10 points! No, seriously! Here, this is the image with the contrast increased by, admittedly, not 10 but 50 points. They just increased the contrast and called it a day! C'mon, guys! You thought I wouldn't nitpick this extremely minor detail just because you put so much effort into making such great animations and sprites? Think again! Also, turns out I don't suck so much, according to Little Shit here! Hahahahah! What do you have to say now?! Uh... oh, shut up, me! Let me win for once! At least the game recognises Lot for the tremendous powerhouse that he is. And Treck. And Wade. Truthfully, I wasn't expecting to have so many good units. I'm quite happy with my team, after all. Ah, chapter 13. This chapter is pretty good. Remember how the narrator kept talking about "the loyalists"? Yeah, this is all that's left of them. A lone Valkyrie. Need I say who she is? A.K.A. Cecilia. Just Cecilia. I love this chick. She does have aircalibur and a gate, and they're all Wyverns. It's obvious they stand no chance. Yes, and yet again, she's making you look like a pansy. Not that you need much help with that. And suddenly, the king! Man, I love this guy's theme, even though Hardin's is still better in my eyes (or ears, in this case). I just wish it was a tiny bit longer, though. That one minute of badassery leaves you wanting more! More! Moooore! Literally, he just walked overthere right now. It's rather silly when you put it like that. Hey, at least someone acknowledges it's just her. That's bullshit, Narcian, and you know it. Oh, crap. ...there is no knee? What do you mean, there is no knee? (I actually noticed this, but it made me giggle like a stupid child, and I decided to leave it in as a joke. Am I a genial comedian or what?) I like to imagine Narcian grabs Zephiel and carries him through the 200~ meters that separate them and Cecilia. Look, it's us! And for once, we kept it brief! No """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""witty""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" retorts from Merlinus, no exposition from Delphin, no nothing. We just went straight to the point. I mean, Cecilia's in peril. It's only normal we'd get serious, for once. Here's the map. Jeez, it's so big, Imgur tried to compress it! But to no avail. Anyhow, let's analyze the situation. We got a village to the north, a village to the south of Cecilia, who in turn is to our east. Few Wyverns, ballistas, and cavalry. Seems straightforward enough. So, let's check out Cecilia's chances! Jeez, her bases are even worse the more I look at them! My headcannon is that Cecilia is a badass, but this battle cost her dearly. And before you say "DUUUH BUT SHE HAD THESE STATS BEFORE FIGHTING ZEPHIEL", keep in mind she supposedly has been fighting these guys off for a while, seeing how Narcian was oh so shocked that she still wasn't dead. I like to think exhaustion, the loss of all of her off-screen loyalists, and the wounds she most likely sustained throughout the whole process left her in this... pathetic state. Here are Flaer and Narcian. Flaer's, surprisingly enough, stronger than Narcian, but everywhere else he's far worse. Guess that fits their boss/subordinate relationship. This time, Flaer does have a ranged weapon. Guess what that means? And as if Cecilia needed more things to worry about, Zephiel's here. Zephiel's... not that good, actually. He just barely doubles Cecilia, but Narcian actually beats him in a few key areas (namely, speed). Narcian. Just you wait 'til we get to Murdock. There's one more named person hanging around in this little party. He's the equivalent of that one guy who really isn't having fun, and just stands around in a quiet-ish corner, waiting for the first chance to flee. I can relate. Perceval doesn't get Hard mode bonuses in this chapter. You could think "hey, that makes his ridiculous bonuses balanced, doesn't it?! You have to pick between stats and availability!". Well, no. This choice is a real no-brainer, given that the next chapter is a desert chapter. Still, Perceval doesn't annoy me as much as you-know-who. That's enough of NPCs. Let's take a look at the inmediate threats. First, this guy. He may look like just a run-of-the-mill Archer, but... Yeah. The ballista sprites are just the same for unpromoted and promoted Archers. Gotta keep your eyes peeled for this sort of stuff. Oh, and just FYI, the southern ballistician is just an Archer. It probably makes plenty of sense in somebody's mind. Let us advance! Hang on, Cecilia, we're coming to rescue you! Everyone except the axe siblings and Echidna. They'll head north. Shit. Well... do your best, Cecilia! Heh. Yeah, no. Zephiel does not have a flying dragon under his ass. Also, yes, I did take a flashbang shot here. I'm that bad at this. I wanted to show this battle in all its glory, though, so I hastily rewinded. So, here's my problem with this scripted battle. As you can see, Zephiel just barely doesn't kill Cecilia, leaving her at 1 HP. That makes perfect sense for the plot, since Cecilia doesn't actually die here, but is instead gravely wounded and passes out. So far, so good. Where could the problem possibly be? Zephiel crits. I mean, I like it, it means we get to see Zephiel's absolutely amazing animations in all their glory, but plot-wise, it wasn't a very good choice by whoever programmed this battle. Although, this does mean Cecilia is so amazing, she survives dying almost three times over. And there she goes. Don't sweat it, Cecilia, you did well. Don't let Gamefaqs convince you otherwise. She singlehandedly fought your troops and was winning until you intervened. Think about it, Zephiel. She forced you, the king, to use your amazingly legendary sword of myth and tale to finally bring her down. I think she delivered a hefty enough challenge. Oh, no. Don't you dare, you fucking scumbag... I'll go into the game and tear you apart! Real!me, not plot!me! It makes sense in my mind, okay? Screw you, Narcian. When do I get to kill you? Oh, dear, Zephiel took the gate. Eh. Pretty sure Lot could take him on. Like Ein, he has the crippling flaw of not being able to double anybody. Actual combat! Well done, Saul. Hate to admit it, but you're doing excellently. Keep it up. Uh, the combat performance, not... everything else. Hey, I'm sure y'all were looking forward to even more plot. Well, there you go. Now you have it. I take it you were going to try to convince Cecilia to mindlessly fight by the side of a misanthrope to ensure the inmediate safety of one guy, then? Tsk, tsk. Bad Perceval. How convenient that he walked all the way to Etruria for pretty much no reason at all in order to be able to whack Cecilia by himself, leading to Perceval starting to doubt them. It... doesn't make too much else, honestly. See, you can tell he's doubtfull because his dialogue concluded with dots in a quick succession. Other than that, we get a hint hint here, that being the fact that we aren't really going to fight Perceval today, unless we rush it, and why would we do that unless we wanted to recruit him right now? It's even harder to get the Knight's Crest if you recruit him in this chapter, since his forces are surrounded by Bernians. Whoa, that was quick. I guess Merlinus was just sitting on top of his wagon and saw the lightning coming out of Zephiel's sword and went "welp, she's screwed". Why would there be a report of her death? She "died" five minutes ago! You shouldn't even know about it yet! You see, of course, we all have played FE6, we know exactly what's going on, but I imagine at the time, it must've felt like this was going to be another Hector situation. Except not, because Cecilia > Hector. Bite me if you will. Honestly, bows are so great for axemen in this game. It gives these two a real edge in comparison to Gonzo. Sure, he's better stat-wise (better than Wade, that is), but he can't hit worth a damn. Oh, please, did that really just happen? Echidna, you're supposed to be good at dodging! The iron axe only brings your speed down by 1 point, and you've two C supports by now! You have no excuses! Well, you do, the RNG, but whatever. At least she managed to hit. That'll be her first level up. Echidna, you do know Lot beats you in every single aspect except for skill, right? And you do know that he doesn't need skill because he's got bows and a support partner, right? Bah. Here, have a heal. I don't want to lose you yet. It's been a while since I had space to deploy Sue. Honestly, at this point, I'm really just using her for Sacae. She's so bad... What, bench her for her brother? Nonsense. It's already going to be hard enough to get Tate exactly five levels ahead of Sue in order to be able to easily choose at the end of chapter 16x, if I train Sin after giving Sue so many levels, I might as well wave Ilia goodbye for good. I don't want to let the Sniper take potshots at us with his ballista just yet, so let's hang back a little and calmly deal with the incoming enemies The northern team forms a triangular formation in order to build up their supports. Echidna x Wade / Lot builds up slowly, but at least it's only going to be one more before I can finally stop sticking them together. More plot! This chapter is exceedingly heavy on the text side of things. Ah, there she is. Now, Guinivere! BOLGANONE!! Oh, right, Bolganone doesn't exist in this game, and Forblaze is still lost somewhere in Arcadia, because Athos definitely didn't take it with him on a stroll to some island and died there. And Rutger. Zephiel sure likes to repeat these words. Please, Franp, I can see you coming from a mile kilometer away, don't make a Zephiel Gives His "Humans Are Assholes" Speech counter. "I tell you this, because despite the fact that you, the sister of myself, king of Bern, the strongest country in the continent of Elibe that currently (the year 1000 of our calendar) exists, already know it, because there might be somebody somewhere around here who doesn't and I want everyone to know they're shitheads and they all deserve to die". "A few worthless lives"? You whole plan's objective is the absolute, irrevocable extinction of humanity! What do you mean, "a few"?! This doesn't work! You want to kill everyone, including yourself! You can't expect her to take your sparing of her life seriously when she knows that, if your plan comes to fruition, she's going to die regardless! Then again, she inmediately flees again without hesitating as soon as Zephiel looks the other way, so at least the writers understood this as well. Before you ask, no, unless I've missed something, Minerva is not actually on the map. Let's take a moment to appreciate Zephiel trusting such an extremely vital task that involves going back to Bern (something Zephiel himself's going to be doing soon enough) to Narcian. He could've taken her with him to Bern and done all of this by himself, but instead, he decided to make the worst General ever do it in his steed. God damnit, Zephiel, stop giving me so many reasons to nitpick you! Both Zephiel and Narcian head into the castle. We don't have a boss now. Are they serious?! Doggone it. Dodge, anyone? Eh, at least the ones who truly needed to dodge pulled it off. Maybe the others are just toying around with their enemies and their futile attempts at bringing them down. Minerva! Why is she here, though? Last time we saw her, she was with Galle, trying to find Guini in the Western Isles. ...what's going on now? Ah, I see, she just pulled a sword out of her ass. Even though she's a Sage and would probably accomplish more with Cecilia's aircalibur tome, which is likely still lying aroud somewhere. I'm stopping before somebody decides to make a Ruben's Unfunny "Deaf Characters" Joke counter. ...although, that makes me realise, we've got enough counters to make a Counter counter. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... Oh, my, you would do exactly the same you did last time you ran off?! I'm so shocked!! Not as much as Minerva here, though. Ah, the dots. She's turning blue. I'm wondering, as she politely asks Minerva to let her go, is she still holding that sword of hers? Well, that's... actually a rather good point. I mean, she obviously didn't leave without telling absolutely anyone, since she had Elen with her (remember? Elen's supposed to be Guinivere's lady-in-waiting, and a good friend. I know, it's easy to forget that since Elen is relevant to the plot for exactly 3 scenes), and Minerva's most likely just as loyal to her as Elen, not to mention she would be able to protect her better than Elen's healery self. Oh, they actually explain it rather sensibly? How interesting. Although, it honestly would've been better to discuss things before leaving. Even if Guinivere refused to bring Minerva along with her, at least Minerva would've known what was going on, and wouldn't have had to go on a wild goose chase to find her. Also, Minerva's got at least a little grey matter inside her skull, and understands Guinivere is the most decent person in Bern. Either that or she's gay. Or both. Hey, I haven't got a problem with it if that's what's happening here. I'm just laying all the cards on the table. Of course, considering that possibility opens up so many doors, so many chances for twisting Minerva's words. Hahahah... "if you tell me to let you go, then with pleasure, I will"... hahah... ironically, that one would work better if she was not gay. But, eh, can't have it all, I guess. And so, they embrace tightly and leave on Minerva's Wyvern whatsitsname. Basically, it's like Drakengard, except they're both girls and neither of them is dead. Whoever gets the reference will have earned my respect, as well as an imaginary cookie. Friendly reminder that this gives Minerva Hard mode bonuses. Gosh darn, Merlinus. "It may be a trick..." sounds different than "it's a trap!", but you cannot deceive me. That's exactly what you said. Yeah, chill out, Merlinus. I mean, Dorothy's right there. Even if she were to try to stab Roy, she'd fall very quickly. Mission failed, we'll get 'em next time. "You're Roy, too? Small world." Heh. Ass-istance. Hheeehhehhe. Okay, I'll stop before I get banned. Charmed, Minerva. Now those are good news, and not all this dramatic nonsense. Very well, let's go to the castle. Chop chop! Double-time it! That is indeed our current objective. So... Minerva. Let's take a moment to look at Treck's stats. Right now, he's a level 4 Paladin, promoted at level 19. So, in total, he's had 23 levels. Minerva has the same strength, res and speed, better skill, better defense, and is only really worse in HP and luck. In other words, she's evenly matched with a unit that has 13 more levels than her, is promoted, and can't fly. Call me mad, but I find Minerva to not be that much fun to use. In Hard mode, she's Easy mode, basically. You use her, she's guaranteed to be your best unit, and to destroy everything and, after you get her the delphi shield, to never, ever die. If you have her, you don't need anyone else. How boring is that? Still, I'm feeling tempted to use her, if only to get Treck a support partner who can keep up with him, and just so I can keep calling her Minerva 'til the end of times. We shall see. Although, if I do that, I'd definitely have to promote her at base or something. As you can see, she really, really, really doesn't need any more levels. Hell, she'd be OP enough if I promoted her right now, due to FE6's beastly promotion bonuses. I could also kill her to create controversy and increase my audience ratings. That's something that works in TV, why not here? People would come racing to hate me as the man who killed Rutger, Clarine and Milady in purpose. Maybe I could slaughter Perceval as well. And Niime! And fail to get all the legendary weapons! ...or maybe this while I write is just getting to my head. I reached the 2 minute mark right when I realised I was sounding a little... bloodthirsty. How fitting. Okay, moving on. Here's Minerva's flaw. Her starting weapon sucks. I can't even. Eh, one thing's for sure, she's nowhere nearly as good as-- Are you fuckin' shitting me!? they're fuckin' shitting me! Noone in the northern team has vulneraries, and Saul's magic sucks! I can't afford this nonsense! At least Echidna and Lot are behaving properly. Oh, please... I'm not risking that. Oh, I just had a most delightful idea! Scratch that. Paladin time! Man, that was some perfect screenshooting. I wasn't even trying to pull that off. Healingntrading.png It sure is a good day when fliers can attack Archers at range without fearing death. Still, Tate definitely fears the ballista and its Sniper, so let's get you out of the way, milady. Minerva, get her out of the way. You as well, Sue. And that's that. Are you ready for some more plot? Augh... Wait, but wasn't he supposed to ensure Guinivere and the Fire Emblem returned safely to Bern? You've got to admit, Zeph, Narcian might not be the brightest tool in the shed, but even Murdock would be at a loss if you wanted him to be in two places at once. And Zephiel knows this because... Jahn? And Jahn knows this because... guess we'll find out in chapter 24! Whoa, Narcian actually being not-dumb? How positively incomprehensible. Spoiler alert, it's a recolour. Yep. Zephiel sent a recolour of a particularly reviled boss to recover the renowned weapon of legend. Although, I suppose Zephiel had no way of knowing that. After all, the original boss wasn't a Bernian. Hahahahahah, yeah, sure. You've no honour, blondie, you're a rapist, a pedo, and a snake. Zephiel and Idoun leave the battlefield. That's a relief. Narcian takes the gate for the time being. Oh, Lot didn't get hit critically? That just can't be! Please, kill Lot! I beg of you! I haven't had enough bad luck yet! In case it's not obvious, game, that was sarcasm. If you kill Lot like that, I'm resetting, and it won't be dishonorable, it'll be perfectly justified. Don't you just love how I remembered to make Treck equip his axe, but not Marcus? Aaaaaaaaaargh! Marcus! Marc-- oh, never mind, that's Treck. Honestly, though, that could've ended really badly had Marcus been in Treck's place. But he wasn't, so the Oifey gets to live another day. The rest is just the Western Reapers not getting killed by anything, as usual. What? It's a fitting name, you can't deny that. Oh, come now, more plot? Okay, it's Cecilia. You get a pass, game. Oh, boy, look who it is. In case you're wondering (and if you're not, just because I want to have things to talk about), the rag's purple because I wanted to make it seem like Sophia ripped off a piece of her robe to fix Cecilia up. I mean, she's no cleric, and I doubt they'd let her keep a vulnerary in her cell, how else could she have done it? Cecilia's a decent, strong and smart person, so she inmediately tries to help again after waking up from dying almost three times over. It doesn't go as planned. What light? Light Yagami? I'm afraid the closest thing to him died back in chapter 7, by my hand, it was fun so... what light? Go home, Sophia. You're drun-- Oh, right. You can't go home. I suppose you really can't do much more than that. And with that, they proceed to... patiently sit in silence staring at the walls while waiting for Roy to be done with the battle. No, seriously. Is there a good reason why you couldn't just tell her with you wait for this "light" of yours to arrive? Or did you also foresee that telling her about Arcadia will trigger a Final Destination-ish chain reaction that'd result in Igrene's death? Oh, no, not Igrene, please. Refrain from talking, you two. I made Lot use his hand axe in an attempt to be able to retaliate to melee attackers. It didn't go so well, but Wade's great strength saved the day. Unorthodox strategies time! Two ballistas is a bit too much, so before we start advancing, why don't we just disable one of them? There we go. I'm happy with that move. And hey, it's not like I ever use my status staves for anything. In most of my runs, they just end up gathering dust in the bottom of the convoy. I want that to change. Saul gets skill. Again. Is he mocking me or what? Sigh... I can at least count on you, Dorothy. Oh, son of a-- Fine, then. Stab Treck! Stab him to your heart's content! For all the good it'll do you! Son of a-- I wasn't being serious! Look, just die already, will ya? Oh, man. May we move on to Lot and co. now? They're the only ones who make me happy. Er, for vastly different reasons when it comes to Echidna, but uh... Look, a distraction! Marcus healing! Oh, Sue. Oh, Sue, Lilina does a better job than you. That's so sad. Why, of course she didn't dodge. Why would she? Before you ask, no, that Cavalier within Treck's range doesn't have a horseslayer. I find it quite hilarious how an army of 12 people achieved the same as three people in the same amount of time. Granted, Lot, Wade and Echidna have more space for maneuvering, but still. What have I done to deserve this? No, seriously... This doesn't make me feel any better. Oh, boy, Wyverns. I can't kill them, either. Yeah, I can't let these guys run amok. So here's the plan: the competent people will stand on the bridge and face the Wyverns. Meanwhile, the weaklings will retreat and escape the Wyverns' range. This time, Treck does hit his enemy. Can't say the same for anybody else, though. Annoying healers... Well, that's it. Tate might as well lure someone off the A team and Gonzo's backs. The northern team doesn't do much more than provide us with some very cute sprites. Look! Echidna and Wade perform coop backwards rope jumping! If you use your imagination, that's what it looks like. Man, I never could rope jump backwards. Whenever those foolish teachers tried to make me do it with somebody else on top of everything, I just didn't bother. Of course, I can't fly like Echinda, so I guess that gives her an unfair advantage. While those two goof around, Lot goes to take care of more important tasks. The game's body ring! I think the best candidates right now would be Echidna, Tate and Raigh. Tell me what you think. Also, what do you mean, "it might make the ladies a little less attractive"? You said it's supposed to build up the user's muscles. How's that "making the ladies a little less attractive"? Is this guy implying girls can only be attractive if they're damisels in distress?! MYSOGINIST! HE'S A CIS WHITE MALE! KILL HIM! KILL HIM WITH ACIIIIID!! Now seriously, it would've been quite ironic if Echidna was the one to talk to this guy, but alas, she's too busy having fun with Wade. Things go about as well as they could have. Why, you little... this is all your fault, Dorothy! She could be dead had you not missed that arrow! Oh, well, better late than never. Oh, such foul luck... Raigh helps Sue get a kill, because she couldn't kill a flier with bows by herself, despite doubling him. Good God... But, you know what, she's still not as utterly pathetic as Geese. You may have the kill, Gonzo. And a whiff of Treck's later, we're done. The axe siblings and who's hopefully going to be our new sword user slaughter this helpless girl for fun and profit. Well... they no longer have anything to do. It won't stay that way for long, however. This is the extent of the enemy phase's action. The following turn, Saul chips down the Sniper. Marcus heals. This time, however, it's actually interesting and important. That's because Marcus just triggered some more plot. Not really, you just left Ein to get killed by us. Seriously, Flaer, what were you thinking? Anyone with a javelin would've been more dangerous. Of course, everything always got to be about you, eh, Narcian? Oh, don't lose your head over that. Nobody doubts your ability. That is, your lack thereof. Narcian, being the asshole he is, decides that instead of helping Flaer destroy us, it's best to leave him alone without any hope of him being able to accomplish anything. You are aware that's not how this works, right, Narcian? ...well, that's not how it would work if this wasn't an Ironman run. As it is... you may have a point, but I stand by my point that you'd do better to attack us now that you can still haven't sit on a throne, forfeiting your ability to move. Yes, that is exactly what he intends. My, how generous of you. But that's not right. Nah, I think you're just scared of us. Oooff... yeah, poor guy gets doubled by the blond doofus. He's screwed. Oh my God, the random french... so pretentious...! Sorry, Flaer. You just had the worst luck when it came to your boss. I'd spare you if I could, but alas... Okay, with the plot behind us, let's stay focused. I can't... what did I ever do to you? Oh, well, these three still have some free time, so might as well get myself some more lines of text to nitpick. Brunya is a far better mage than Cecilia, statwise, Murdock is better than Perceval and Douglas combined, Narcian exists. Sorry to burst your bubble, kid, but that's life. That sure looks empty... wait for the game to fix that in 3, 2, 1... ...uhhh... well, not yet, it seems. Eliminean action! Look at Dorothy's ballista sprite. We're probably never going to see it again. Sue, ladies and gentlemen. A guy with a javelin who doesn't double does more damage than her. Here comes the plane, Sue. Rrrrrr... open your mouth... good job, girl! You took that spoon full of EXP! I'm so proud of you! Okay, the countdown from 30 is about to come to an end. 3, 2-- Of course. Damn it all... You might not have noticed, but I placed Echidna and Wade in forest tiles. That should help them come out of this victorious. Even more plot?! He "killed" your colleague. Insult is a bit of an understatement, this is outright treason. This new course of action will involve still helping Bern, because "MUH KING". Thanks, Doug. Buh-bye, Percy. We'll be seeing more of you. Nothing much happens this turn. The southern team is just moving forward as quickly as we can, while the northern team is waiting for the enemies to come at them. Can you find the blunder? Shit! Tate! But of course she would get hit! I've had the worst luck all update, why would she dodge having a <70% chance of doing so?! It's not as if the odds were in her favour, am I right?! They just had to ruin my good streak, didn't they?!?! And with Tate, of all people! Oh, God... if she dies, I'll be forced to use Shanna, somehow... and I won't get to show off Ilia's gaiden no matter what... nooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!! Well, I ain't facing that today, so I think I'll just use this chance to finally put this meme to good use... (Yes, I do remember what that damned song is. Let's see how long it takes me to forget again) Next time, Tate will die because I can't have nice things. See you then. Fuck. To be continued. Flaer's, surprisingly enough, stronger than Narcian, but everywhere else he's far worse. Guess that fits their boss/subordinate relationship. Flaer: If only he had more of a chance to develop, he might have been something. 26 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: And as if Cecilia needed more things to worry about, Zephiel's here. Zephiel's... not that good, actually. He just barely doubles Cecilia, but Narcian actually beats him in a few key areas (namely, speed). Narcian. Just you wait 'til we get to Murdock. I'd still be afraid of this man. Concern isn't going away. 27 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: He's the equivalent of that one guy who really isn't having fun, and just stands around in a quiet-ish corner, waiting for the first chance to flee. Percival: Never wanted to be at the party in the first place. 27 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I wanted to show this battle in all its glory, though, so I hastily rewinded. You're not wrong. Would dent the moment a bit though. Maybe if they treated it like Galuf in FF5? 28 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I mean, I like it, it means we get to see Zephiel's absolutely amazing animations in all their glory, but plot-wise, it wasn't a very good choice by whoever programmed this battle. Credit to Zephiel, he makes that look effortless. Ekesacks even splits into two there. Is it any wonder Cecilia got rocked there? 28 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: She singlehandedly fought your troops and was winning until you intervened. Think about it, Zephiel. She forced you, the king, to use your amazingly legendary sword of myth and tale to finally bring her down. I think she delivered a hefty enough challenge. Not to Zephiel though. Everyone else struggled though, fair is fair. She did threaten Bern a bit. 29 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, dear, Zephiel took the gate. Eh. Pretty sure Lot could take him on. Like Ein, he has the crippling flaw of not being able to double anybody. Lot might be able to. In our dreams. What can he do with bows and axes against him right now? 30 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Whoa, that was quick. I guess Merlinus was just sitting on top of his wagon and saw the lightning coming out of Zephiel's sword and went "welp, she's screwed". Merlinus just watches the lighting and goes "Yep, it's all over now. Might as well tell the kid his mentor's dead." 31 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, right, Bolganone doesn't exist in this game, and Forblaze is still lost somewhere in Arcadia, because Athos definitely didn't take it with him on a stroll to some island and died there. Ah, Pent likely took it back there. So I might want some of Elibean Nights to be canon. So? 32 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: "A few worthless lives"? You whole plan's objective is the absolute, irrevocable extinction of humanity! What do you mean, "a few"?! A few for Zephiel is always many. It's why he got poisoned all those years ago, Desmond poisoned one bottle of beer and Zephiel drank all of them at the party he was at. 33 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Let's take a moment to appreciate Zephiel trusting such an extremely vital task that involves going back to Bern (something Zephiel himself's going to be doing soon enough) to Narcian. He could've taken her with him to Bern and done all of this by himself, but instead, he decided to make the worst General ever do it in his steed. God damnit, Zephiel, stop giving me so many reasons to nitpick you! Well, a villain needs a flaw. His is an inability to read any person. Oh god, is he autistic? Should I not be insulting him with that? Does that make me a hypocrite? 34 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: I'm stopping before somebody decides to make a Ruben's Unfunny "Deaf Characters" Joke counter. ...although, that makes me realise, we've got enough counters to make a Counter counter. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... New counter counter? Nah, I'm not that mean. 35 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Well, that's... actually a rather good point. Because she needed to not bring too much. 3 people and a wyvern might be too easy to find. 36 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Yeah, chill out, Merlinus. I mean, Dorothy's right there. Even if she were to try to stab Roy, she'd fall very quickly. Sue could do it! Right? She's also there I guess. 38 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: So... Miredy's fun in the "I AM A GOD" way. And a second flier next chapter will still be useful. Once Percival shows up if you're using all the OP units the game really starts snowballing into eaiser times. As a side note, Twilight of the Gods is glorious. I don't know I'd put it above Id (Purpose), but it's a great conclusion to what might be the best soundtrack of the best era of FE soundtracks. 40 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Wait, but wasn't he supposed to ensure Guinivere and the Fire Emblem returned safely to Bern? You've got to admit, Zeph, Narcian might not be the brightest tool in the shed, but even Murdock would be at a loss if you wanted him to be in two places at once. Narcian clearly is used to this multitasking thing. He's perfect at passing it off to others. 41 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: And Zephiel knows this because... Jahn? And Jahn knows this because... guess we'll find out in chapter 24! Yeah no, Jahn doesn't. I'll say why when it comes up. Zephiel might have learned from some documents related to Hartmut or something. 41 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Oh, Lot didn't get hit critically? That just can't be! Please, kill Lot! I beg of you! I haven't had enough bad luck yet! In case it's not obvious, game, that was sarcasm. If you kill Lot like that, I'm resetting, and it won't be dishonorable, it'll be perfectly justified. Well, in Fates he'd have weapon advantage, so he'd be doing better. Fates is weird sometimes. 42 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: What light? Light Yagami? I'm afraid the closest thing to him died back in chapter 7, by my hand, it was fun so... what light? Rutger, Light? Nah, you need someone who thinks the world sucks, who walks around with dark books and is generally condescending to everyone. Raigh, is that you? 44 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Why, of course she didn't dodge. Why would she? Why would anything dodge? It's not like this is BS. Maybe if she got Lyn's growths. :P 45 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Echidna and Wade perform coop backwards rope jumping! If you use your imagination, that's what it looks like. Man, I never could rope jump backwards. Whenever those foolish teachers tried to make me do it with somebody else on top of everything, I just didn't bother. Of course, I can't fly like Echinda, so I guess that gives her an unfair advantage. They're preparing for the future Elibean Olympics. They're the gymnastics team for the Western Isles. Gonzales will be the weight lifting rep. Lot will be the sprinter. 46 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: The game's body ring! He's a judgemental person. it's why nobody goes to Missur. She's too busy with a skipping rope. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Of course, everything always got to be about you, eh, Narcian? Of course it is. He'd make a charity drive about himself. 47 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Narcian, being the asshole he is, decides that instead of helping Flaer destroy us, it's best to leave him alone without any hope of him being able to accomplish anything. I mean, he's dodging both defending against Lycia and the task he was just given. Death will come. SOON. 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Eliminean action! Look at Dorothy's ballista sprite. We're probably never going to see it again. I'm liking that sprite actually. The ballista might not move in BB, but it having a sprite was nice. I'd want the best of both worlds in a remake though. #MBMA 49 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: He "killed" your colleague. Insult is a bit of an understatement, this is outright treason. It's certainly a declaration of war. 50 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Shit! You forgot the song. Does it count as a dishonourable reset? 50 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah yes, Louise being quite nice to someone. 51 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: That.... Might not have been the best time. 51 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: On the other hand, it might have been after all. Clarine's death will be forgotten with an enemy force charging in. 51 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: SURE, THERE'S NO WAY THIS COULD BE A LIE. 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: No joke, I thought I saw Robin here for a sec. As a villain. That would have been crazy. I'd also have called it here, Robin is OP. 52 minutes ago, Saint Rubenio said: Ah yes Humphrey, maybe now you'll explain what you're doing? Next time: Everyone gets off the bridges?

Saint Rubenio
Part 27 - Reinforcements! So much reinforcement! On 9/3/2018 at 6:01 PM, Dayni said: Raigh, you might want to listen to him for a second. Your dickish streak might backfire. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Only time will tell. Nope. Still snow on the hills too (though they're pretty much mountains anyway) Sheesh... what, you live in the north pole? Ah yes, the old carry bags made out of your spare units trick. I use it far too often. It's the only way to handle everything! Ah yes, Bern having an easy job of invasion because traitors are everywhere. Could be better sealing the deal as we'll see. Yeah... Well, when in doubt take everything to make it as hard as you can. Can't call Cecilia stupid. She's Cecilia, nothing about her is stupid. But Ruben, she marries her st-- That is not a thing that exists. Shut up. Zephiel wanders in because he heard Narcian screw up again. That's quite the noble cause. I can accept that. There is no nee-chan? Was Idoun looking for her brother the whole time? Pffft. Oh, you. Yes Lilina, that did. Augh... My headcanon is that she's not much of a combatant but still good at everything else as a mage general. Also an acceptable headcanon. Flaer: If only he had more of a chance to develop, he might have been something. Yeah. Such a shame this is FE6. I'd still be afraid of this man. Concern isn't going away. I mean, I as well, but... more so of Murdock. Murdock's such a powerhouse. Percival: Never wanted to be at the party in the first place. I mean, the party's all about killing his colleague. I understand his undesire to remain there. You're not wrong. Would dent the moment a bit though. Maybe if they treated it like Galuf in FF5? Yeah, that one managed to merge gameplay and story in a brilliant way. As opposed to Cecilia getting killed three times over and then be up and fighting the following chapter. Well, sort of, because desert. Credit to Zephiel, he makes that look effortless. Ekesacks even splits into two there. Is it any wonder Cecilia got rocked there? Now imagine if this was like the manga and he was akimbo wielding the Eckesachs and the Binding Blade... poor Cecilia. Not to Zephiel though. Everyone else struggled though, fair is fair. She did threaten Bern a bit. Well, he did give her the "honour" to face him. Lot might be able to. In our dreams. What can he do with bows and axes against him right now? May I remind you he has the Armads? It'd take a while, but eventually, Zephiel would fall to Lot's overwhelming might. Merlinus just watches the lighting and goes "Yep, it's all over now. Might as well tell the kid his mentor's dead." Stupid Merlinus... I don't know what, but he did something stupid there, I'm sure. Ah, Pent likely took it back there. So I might want some of Elibean Nights to be canon. So? Wow. That's... actually genius, and it never occured to me. Well, that's one plothole fixed by the fans. Good work, IntSys. A few for Zephiel is always many. It's why he got poisoned all those years ago, Desmond poisoned one bottle of beer and Zephiel drank all of them at the party he was at. Pfffft. So, all along, Desmond did nothing wrong. Mind's officially blown. Well, a villain needs a flaw. His is an inability to read any person. Oh god, is he autistic? Should I not be insulting him with that? Does that make me a hypocrite? Well, I'm a little autistic (Asperger's, to be precise) and I'm not taking any offense, so there's that. Stating a fact is not the same as insulting. Although, after 10 years of attending to a psychologist, the most my autism does at this point is make me play weird, boring games such as, I don't know, that stupid game where you move animes around a board and painstakingly watch and they fight by themselves. As well as to embarrass myself playing it in front of a forum full of veterans and pros. Still. My point stands. New counter counter? Nah, I'm not that mean. New counter counter counter. Counter-inception counter. No, please. Because she needed to not bring too much. 3 people and a wyvern might be too easy to find. Eh, I guess that's true. But she could've tried to subtly let her know. Sue could do it! Right? She's also there I guess. Sue, kill Minerva? Bwahahahahahahahahaaaaaaah... don't make me laugh. Miredy's fun in the "I AM A GOD" way. And a second flier next chapter will still be useful. Once Percival shows up if you're using all the OP units the game really starts snowballing into eaiser times. Hence why I am not using all the OP units. Everyone's bound to their own opinions, and my opinion is that's boring. I will be using Sophia, whether the universe likes it or not. As a side note, Twilight of the Gods is glorious. I don't know I'd put it above Id (Purpose), but it's a great conclusion to what might be the best soundtrack of the best era of FE soundtracks. Yeah, 3DS soundtracks are great. Although, in my opinion, Tellius and the DS remakes also have pretty good soundtracks, even if there isn't as much usage of chorus as in the 3DS. "Footsteps of Fate", "Wheeling Corby", "Beauty is a Mad Mistress", the DS version of "Together we Ride", Shadow Dragon's preparations theme... Narcian clearly is used to this multitasking thing. He's perfect at passing it off to others. Such peerless skills, his are. With any luck, we'll soon be seeing just how good he's at dying. Yeah no, Jahn doesn't. I'll say why when it comes up. Well, then. It's been a long time since I last paid any attention to FE6's plot, so I'm ashamed to admit, I can't remember. Zephiel might have learned from some documents related to Hartmut or something. Well... okay. He's depicted as a very erudite person, even before he went mad. Let's say that's it. Although, Hartmut? Why Hartmut? It was Athos that found the village, according to some fanfiction. Should Arcadia be described in documents regarding Athos, instead? Well, in Fates he'd have weapon advantage, so he'd be doing better. Fates is weird sometimes. ...bows > lances, how...? I mean, the weapon triangle doesn't make that much sense to begin with, but... Rutger, Light? Nah, you need someone who thinks the world sucks, who walks around with dark books and is generally condescending to everyone. Raigh, is that you? Oh my God, that's actually true. You see, the reason I didn't see the similarities is that I hate Light with a burning passion, while Raigh is one of my favourite characters in FE. As well as the fact that Raigh isn't actually such a bad person in reality. Light's a maniac and I hate him. Okay, maybe not with a burning passion, but I hate him. Not really because of what he does, but because I absolutely despise when main characters have their cocks sucked all the time, being oh so perfectly boring, everything goes their way and nobody gets even close to scratching them. C'mon, give him a damn flaw. Lelouch Vi Britannia was a much better character because of this, in my humble opinion. Why would anything dodge? It's not like this is BS. Maybe if she got Lyn's growths. :P Why, you... They're preparing for the future Elibean Olympics. They're the gymnastics team for the Western Isles. Gonzales will be the weight lifting rep. Lot will be the sprinter. Well, they're bound to win every medal, then. I can just imagine the Etrurians green with envy as their "inferiors" beat them in every competition. Except Cecilia. Cecilia's a decent human being, she'd accept defeat graciously. He's a judgemental person. it's why nobody goes to Missur. Other than the fact that missur is just two huge bridges, a lone village and an old keep? She's too busy with a skipping rope. Truly, an essential task to ensure mankind's continued survival. Of course it is. He'd make a charity drive about himself. I won't donate anything but a kick to the nuts. I mean, he's dodging both defending against Lycia and the task he was just given. Death will come. SOON. If we survive chapter 14. I'm liking that sprite actually. The ballista might not move in BB, but it having a sprite was nice. I'd want the best of both worlds in a remake though. #MBMA Yeah, to this day, I still don't understand why they scrapped the sprite. It's certainly a declaration of war. And they didn't take Bern up on it because MUH KING! You forgot the song. Damnit, are you blind?! Didn't you read the part where I especifically said I hadn't forgotten about the song yet?! Is this going to be the new running gag of the LP, "stupid Ruben can't remember Roundabout"?!?! Does it count as a dishonourable reset? Well, she hasn't died yet... although, this is an issue we must address. More on it later. Ah yes, Louise being quite nice to someone. She's a nice woman. That.... Might not have been the best time. On the other hand, it might have been after all. Clarine's death will be forgotten with an enemy force charging in. Maybe... SURE, THERE'S NO WAY THIS COULD BE A LIE. No joke, I thought I saw Robin here for a sec. As a villain. That would have been crazy. I'd also have called it here, Robin is OP. Well, you were wrong, obviously, but if I ever want to introduce Robin to the crappy fanfic, I've the perfect portrait for it: Ah yes Humphrey, maybe now you'll explain what you're doing? You called it. Although... I doubt that was what you had in mind. Next time: Everyone gets off the bridges? Hopefully! On 9/3/2018 at 10:50 PM, eclipse said: What kind of insult is tribe of Polynesians? Really? I've been using Captain Haddock's nonsensical curses throughout both LPs, and just now you're asking this? Go ban yourself! ...just kidding, don't ban meeeeeeeeee... I should probably lay off the mod jokes. Spoiler Last time, this happened. Today, we'll find out whether she'll die or not. But first, Wade destroys everyone. Oh, no, not now... not the blasted flashbangs! Is it Tate? Is this Tate getting hit?! Noooooo!! Ooooooaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurgh...! Uunnhh... that was far too close... So, this time we got lucky, but this is one thing I've never really thought much about: what if one of the gaiden-critical characters was to die in battle? It's a bit less of an issue with Tate here, since we'd only lose the chance to go to Ilia, but if Milady/Zeiss died, then what? Well, I've been thinking, and I think this is what I'll do when if the time comes: I'll just reset (I suppose adding a dishonorable reset to the counter) and discharge the unit in question for life, like Lance and Jerrot. If Tate/Sue are to fall in battle, I'll only bring them again for chapter 16x to boss-abuse Windham so as to be able to go to both routes, then bench them once more. This means they'll effectively be dead, but we won't miss the gaidens. In a true ironman run, I'd just have to press on, but we're here for the show, and I'm sure all of you want to see me trudge through the pain that is Jahn's chapter, right? Pfft. Look at all those circles. Who said this guy is one of the worst units in the game, again? Heal up, Tate. I'd really rather not lose you. Although, if you already almost died today, I fear tomorrow... In other news, Sue levels up after failing to kill a Wyvern Rider. ...well, I mean, she is Lyn's daughter according to some fanfiction within some fanfiction, right? I guess that explains why she's so... so... aaaaarrgh! Take the kill, Raigh. And with that, but one Wyvern remains. Hmm... do I dare? Why, of course I did. It's not like he would've died if he got hit. Such a shame I can't bring you to Arcadia. You'd be so useful there... And Gonzales finishes the foul deed. Doo duru doo roo! That was my attempt at reprising the level up jingle. How'd you like it? Defense is good, thank you. Now, work on your hitrate. 58%'s just pathetic. Well, that's it for the damnable Riders, at any rate. Give back the silver lance, Tate, you can't use that. Now, for the Olympic team... They're doing fine. Now leaderless, the reinforcement brigade rides rapidly towards their inevitable demises. Lot's about to level up, as well. There we go. Let it be a good one. Would you believe, this is just par for the course for Lot? 4 more points, and we won't even need Dougy for anything. Heck, what am I talking about? Between his supports and his tremendously blessed resistance, we already don't need Dougy for anything. Other than to support with Geese, and that's a really pathetic thing to do. Echidna finally gets to fight a little. It could've ended really badly for her, but it didn't, and I'm thankful for that. Other than that, it's just the usual mossaic of one-sided fights. Which continue all the way into the player phase. Yeah... they didn't stand a chance. While that happens, the southern team cautiously lures a Mercenary closer. Outclassed! Ah! No! Echidnaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Stop it! Oh, why... your death will be slow and painful. Oh, please... why is this happening to me? At least she didn't get hit yet another time. That would've made me really angry. Guy down, bring in the next one. He's a tad better than the other ones. Namely, he's a far better hero than Echidna. Aside from that, he shouldn't give us much trouble. Well, only one Cavalier left. That was painless enough, even though Echidna got really unlucky. But what is the chance of more reinforcements appearing? Yeah... around 100%. Rats. Once again, you're outclassed! Holy mother of fuck. Oh, dear... Echidna's in no condition to face another round of this. Very well, then. Plan B: run. I know I'm running towards them, you don't need to mention it. Obviously, I've got a plan. Oh, well, it was a predictable result. Lilina's fine. Lilina could use the experience.Given the nature of the next chapter, so I need her to be in top condition. Time for ol' Jeigan to face a promoted unit. All things considered, he didn't do that bad. Although, he's starting to fall behind now. His strength is really lacking. Phew... they didn't make it to us yet. So, here's the deal: First, dodge this asshole once more. Thank you, Echidna. Second, assume a defensive stance, with lot defending the wounded Echidna and Wade by her side to cover her back, just in case, and build up their support while at it. You know, this is remind me of something... Ah, of course. Anyhow, the Hero's at a measly 14 HP now. Hm... I wonder... Pffft. Of course not. Worth a shot...? Worth a shot. W O R T H A S H O T I didn't want to do this, since Treck got doubled, but oh, well. It's not like he does that much damage anyway. More experience for Tate. She'll need it. With all the nearby enemies dead, it is safe to visit this village. I don't know, I can't see it yet. And Dorothy's not even looking at yo, so... Ah, it's another one of the manga weapons. This one makes even less sense, since this guy is talking as if Al stood up to Bern a long time ago, while the manga supposedly takes place in parallel with FE6. It's not a bad sword. Better than the iron sword, but lighter than the steel sword. In other words, the perfect sword for Echidna. If she survives this chapter, that is. In any case, that's it. Time to pray to Elimine for Echidna's safety. Oh, no, not an axereaver! Whoa... who's the killer now?! Hahahah... Much like everyone else, these fools don't stand a chance. Even their leader fails to make the cut. The worst part is that they brought another healer alongside the cannon fodder. So annoying... Ah, crap. Couldn't quite kill the asshat. Well, I suppose he'll live to annoy me another day. Echidna's going to be attacked now, there's nothing I can do about it. Well, other than, y'know, give her something to heal, but it's too late for that. Hey, since we've got the time, let's visit another house. Ahem... hurgh hmpph! Gahhaaack! You know the rest. Hm. Also, that's a really weird thing to say to an ugly spaniard who just broke into your house. Oh, look! A helpless healer! Such sad! PERIIIIIIIIIISH! She... didn't perish. Drat. That may look bad, but this is Lot we're talking about. It's not bad. Some of the enemies have deemed it wiser to circle around the hill to attack Wade. Their last mistake. Well, that Paladin's dead. Good thing he went for Wade, too, he could use the experience better than Lot. Lot, fed up with all the javelins, decides to prepare to sprint away. Or at least, I think that's what that pose is. Maybe he's just going to run a few laps around the village to train for the Olympics while the javelins fall. Good news, everyone: Echidna lives to fight another turn! Bad news, everyone: if you hadn't noticed, the second wave of reinforcements brought yet another healer along. Sheesh, girls, you're the worst things in this map since Narcian left. What?! Seriously!? Oh, please... well, at least he dodged the counterattack. It's a setback, but not a fail. Well, can't really do much more. Echidna can't do much damage to the Paladin, so instead, she opts for equiping her iron axe to maximize the chance of dodging the incoming projectiles. Down south, nothing happens. At this point, I wanted to focus on the western team, giving Roy's Bois a breather. Nice. You run away. The healer we tried to whack earlier runs past Flaer and the remaining Bernians to heal. How ironic. Okay, Wade, you failed last time, but now the time has come to redeem yourself. Well redeemed, Wade. Uh... why does my army like this level up so much? I mean, sure, this is only the second time we've gotten it, the first being Raigh, but... it doesn't make it any less anoying. That said, I'll take this over last LP's 7 or so empty level ups any day. Only Leiden can do that while remaining awesome, and Leiden and his jacket sadly don't exist in Elibe. Remember when I said I'd give Roy's Bois a breather? Well, Saul's not a Boi. He's judge Saul Frollo...! See? The world became dark as soon as he stepped forward! Good Lord, these enemy phases are so intense... especially after Ogier died exactly like this. Twice. Urk! Die, all of you! Echidna shan't die! Now that there aren't a thousand Cavaliers blocking the way, Echidna moves to a nearby forest tile in order to axe this guy to death. Hah! Not so tough now that your prey can defend herself, are you? Lot helps Wade holster his axe. I'd like to feed that Paladin to Echidna, she could use the experience. Saul levels up again. Please get magic, please get magic... You... you...! He's determined to be the speediest motherfucker around and nothing else, huh? Oh, well, could be worse. He could be like Ogier, getting skill and skill alone. Dorothy kills a guy also. No level ups for her, though. Also, I know, I shouldn't waste the silver bow. Whoa, a Cavalier with a killing edge? Is it Noah? Oh, of course, I'm so silly, that can't be it... Noah died in chapter 7 because the AI is horrible and chapter 7 is the deepest circle of hell. Whoa! Worth a shot, for real this time! Likewise! Eh, it's fine. You could use some more speed and skill, but this is fine. Through a complicated trading scheme, Marcus manages to skewer the killing edger's crotch, which is very effective, thus killing him instantly. Last enemy. Might as well let Tate deal with him by herself. Before you worry, no, unless Flaer suddenly gets the urge to fly off the gate to stab her (which would be the smart idea, mind you, but alas, FE6, can't do that), there's noone around to finish her off. The rest of the army hangs around behind her. Oh, he went after Dorothy, I see. Smart man. But that won't save him. Oh, please... they better start throwing out some great level ups to make up for this crap. Treck's was amazing, for sure, and Tate lived, which I am profoundly grateful for, but I want more. Is it too much to ask, after all this foul luck? After, y'know, losing 19 people? Pfhahahah, 0% chance to hit. Sorry, dude, you tried. Oh look! Is it a bird? Is it a plane?! No! It's Echidna of the bugged axe! It's a shame that small graphical glitch is there. Her critical animation is absolutely badass otherwise. Axereaver? Bwahah! You can't reave the Reaper! The Western Reaper! Zalwade! Gyaah! Stop it! Wait, is Lot bitchslapping the Paladin? Seriously! If you use your imagination, that's sort of what it looks like! Hahahahah... the Western Reapers have once more brought forth death upon the helpless masses of foolish enemies of the righteous! Hahahahah! So much pooooweeeer! Anticlimatic healing. Cavalier down. You shan't assault helpless Snipers no more. Now give Tate a good level up! My prayers... they have been answered... Well, she's officially caught up to Sue. Now she just has to surpass her to make up for Shanna's level deficit compared to Shin. Shouldn't be too hard: after all, Tate's pretty good, while Sue's this LP's answer to last LP's Castor: Noone knows why she's still here or how she's still here, but she's here, and she'll be until the end of the LP. Lest she risks being deemed worse than Castor, and I don't think anybody'd want that to happen. Treck rides ahead to throw a javelin at a Cavalier. At this point, the chapter's more or less beaten. Wha-- more reinforcements?! No! Echidna! Oh, no, don't you dare hit Lot again... Hahah! Excellent! Lot senses the upcoming danger and prepares for it. Treck keeps it up. He won't be killing this guy, probably, but all EXP is good EXP. The cowardly Cavalier (notmy!Matthis?) keeps on fleeing the scene. I'm so happy for him. ... ...wait, did the fucking healers just... did they really dare to... ...I can't believe my eyes... ... ...GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Healeeeeeeeeeeeeeers! That's it, fuck the Geneva convention, you're all going down! Uh... all in due time. All in due time. Let's not get impatient. I did say their deaths would be slow and painful, after all. Well, at least they can no longer stop us from moving about. The Western Reapers will be heading for the forest over which the cursor is hovering next turn. Lilina roasts the Cavalier that was tenderized by Treck. Capped magic, everyone. This is why Lilina's fun. Sure, she sucks in everything else, but look at that damned magic. Look, Roy getting a kill! Isn't this such a wondrous sight? There we go. Without further ado, let us wait until next turn to start fighting Flaer himself. The newest pack of reinforcements, predictably, go after the Western Reapers. However... They were too late. Oh, healer on healer action, except this time, they're both red. How very annoying... although... hm... this is getting me thinking... RAAAAAAAAH DAAAAAAAwe failed, moving on. Look, it's almost like they're trying to defend the Olympic team from their opponents. Good effort, but that won't save them. Time to take on Flaer. Quick reminder of his stats before we do so. The plan's to let Dorothy handle everything. Flaer's problem is that he doesn't get to use the gate's bonuses, which makes him far weaker than most other non-Ein bosses. He doesn't stand a chance, although there are better candidates for the boss kill than Dorothy. Here's hoping she won't crit... Especially since she already got a level up. It's bad, but after her great streak, I can give her a pass. She's already better than both Klein and Igrene. The axereaver fails to reave an axeman, an axeman fails to axe a lancer... jeez, what's next? Ah, I see. Just the usual. Oh, don't you worry... your punishment awaits you. Soon... But first, these buffoons. Hahahah, oh my, seems like Wade does not want to be left behind by his friend! He already has, sorry, but don't feel bad about it. He's better than you, but that doesn't make you any less epic. Not to mention, you have something he doesn't: a skipping rope, and Echidna as his partner! You know, I'd like to take a moment to appreciate the fact that these guys just took on an entire army and won. I know, I know, that's very common in FE, but this isn't Perceval, or Minerva, or Rutger. These are axemen in one of the worst games for axemen in the series. Hahahah... when I had the idea to use these two (and later, Echidna), I certainly wasn't expecting them to become my MVPs. Guess life's nice sometimes. Before you ask, Dayni, no, Sue can't do anything. She barely doesn't get one-shot, which I appreciate, but I'd rather not risk the crit for such negligible damage. Raigh can't do it, either. That speed of his is dragging him down. That Guiding Ring can't come too soon. Lilina fares a little better, not getting doubled, but she still has a rather high chance of missing, and then she'd get 1HKO. That's something I'd rather avoid. Hmmm... let's wait a little for now. Let the guy heal so Dorothy can really bring him down to a sliver of health. Like so. Ah, the power of supports. Thanks to them, we turned this FE6 scenario into one worthy of being in FE7. Also, Wade just turned his axe into a mace. He's Zalwade, he can do that. Echidna does something weird too. She gets a level for her efforts. Perfect. For Echidna, this is perfect. Not a chance, people. Give it up! Oh, for the love of everything that is holy, stop it! Good effort, healers, but it was all in vain. Soon, you shall be all alone, and then... mwahahahah... But before that... Urk! Flaer managed to hit Dorothy! Good effort, but it was for naught, for his end is neigh. Yes! Jeigan's still got it! FOR MY HONOUR AS A KNIGHT OF PHERAE!! Nonsense. You did well, given the circumstances. You weren't as great as Orlo, but you were still good enough. Thank you, Flaer, for not being another Morgan. And guess what! It's a level up for Oifey! Hype! Hype! Hype hype hy-- Ah, blistering barnacles in a blue barrel, but I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. You're still the best Jeigan, Marcus, don't fret over this. Well, all that's left is to clean up the upper left corner, assuming no more reinforcements spawn. They all try their luck against Echidna. No dice, however. And so, the Etrurian Cavaliers... ...are no more, courtesy of the Western Reapers, official Olympic team of the Western Isles! Heck yeah! And now, for these bitches... I'm going to healer-abuse. Yep. Sorry if somebody thinks it's cheating, but I want Echidna to get some sword EXP to get her closer to Durandal. I mean, if she doesn't get Durandal, who will? Roy? Pfah! She also leveled up a couple of times throughout the whole process. Yeah... that's not very good, honestly. That's it. We're free to go! B swords! She almost broke her iron sword to get there, though. I'll have to get her a new one. Speaking of getting new things, Roy sells the gems for fun and profit. Then, I buy a crapton of stuff. Mostly, some more iron things, and a bunch of killer weapons. Sadly, no axes in this armory, because FE6. Then, Minerva sells her steel lance. Why, you ask? So Roy can go to the arena, of course! I need more money. Yes, Roy. I know, I know, "Ruben isn't this too much of a risk!?". Well, no. You see, with some others I might risk going over 750, but with Roy, I'm not taking any chances. If I always bet below 700, there'll be virtually no chance of Roy getting one-rounded, which means I'll always be able to press B if Roy is in danger of dying. Like right here. There's also the fact that Roy's never going to get to level 20 normally. I'm sorry, but he struggles to get healer kills right now. Healer kills. I'd rather just get him to level 20 right now and forget he exists. Now, for the million dollar question: will this make Roy too good, breaking the game's difficulty curve? Hahah... no. Here's Roy's crit animation, because I doubt we'll see it much after this. Neat! That's not too bad. Five more of these, and he might be useful yet. Also, I bought so much, now Merlinus can't take anymore. Damnit, Merlinus! For the time being, I'll let Roy hoard some of the stuff... And Minerva, as well! Vulneraries, another torch, and another restore. I think that's enough shopping for today. And it's back to the arena for Roy. I want to get some more cash for Arcadia's shops, as well as get Roy to level 20. Look, a house! Let's see the no doubt very useful things they have to say. I... I know, I saw it also, as did Merlinus. Look, another crit! Roy bent his sword, forming the shape of an "L". I wonder what that means... ...omigosh, Roy's L! Le shock! Then that means Raigh's his worst enemy... mind-blown. Also, he just barely let the Soldier live so he could stab him with his lance. Fsss... So, Roy's progress. This is level 20 Roy. Does this make him too good, or even just good? No, actually, he's still my weakest unit. If anything, he's surpassed Geese, and that's it. He's marginally less weak now, but he's still just a much, much worse version of Echidna who can't even use most swords without being weighed down. Here's the final turncount. Holy crap. Let's seize before Cecilia dies of old age, shall we? Ah, there she is! Nonsense. You did pretty well, all things considered. Ah, she's there too. Quote on quote, """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""shaman""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""". How's "now" finer than before? We don't have time now, if you want us to save your village! Oh, such a tragedy. Honestly though, I love how she drops that bombshell like it's no big deal. Zephiel did, though. For... whatever reason. Oh, no, Merlinus is here... why don't you let Delphin loose and go back to your convoy to feel sorry for yourself? Yeah! No, wait, this means we're going to Arcadia! Nooooo... Good, let's hear it. Wait, why is it going dark all of sudden? ...what?! Oh, son of a-- I almost forgot, Saul got this while Roy was powerleveling. Once again, notmagic/10.
