kaonohiokala
Okay, so I'm starting to get a hang of this hacking thing. I decided to try out this FE10 in 7 thing. Try it out!! Note that nothing graphical has been changed. Just data, names, gameplay, etc. Actually, my main focus was on the gameplay. What's completed: -Lyn/Micaiah Mode All -Eliwood/Mist Mode up to chapter 14 (half of 15 done) -Hector/Ike Mode up to chapter 15 (half of 16 done) -Names/Classes are done -Enemy units have been changed in all of the edited chapters What's not: -Anything past chapter 14E/15H. -Portraits (I'll probably never do these, but someone else can if they want) -Any animations not already in this game (armor swords, axe wyverns, etc.) Updated 05/20/08 http://nabataproductions.com/forums/index....457.0;attach=84 How to get started for those who don't know: 1. Download the file above. 2. Extract it's contents into a new folder. 3. Open up SPATCH.exe (which is in the zipped folder). 4. In SPATCH, choose File > Apply IPS Patch. 5. When it tells you to select the original file, choose your US FE7 rom. 6. When it tells you to select the patch Fire Emblem Blazing Dawn Demo.ips (the one without the 2 at the end). 7. Name your game Fire Emblem Blazing Dawn Demo.gba (MAKE SURE IT ENDS WITH GBA) and place it in the folder that all this stuff is in. 8. SPATCH will now ask you if you want to add another data set, choose Yes. 9. Select Fire Emblem Blazing Dawn Demo2.ips as your extra patch. 10. Open up your emulator and load Fire Emblem Blazing Dawn Demo.gba, the save file is in the folder, so it should load the saved file. IMPORTANT NOTE: Lyn/Micaiah Normal Mode does not work. You have to play it on Hard.
Florete
I did all that, so how do I play it?
kaonohiokala
>_> Load the Fire Emblem Blazing Dawn Demo.gba file in your emulator (preferably VBA). Make sure that it's using the save file I attached!!
Florete
Yes, but now I can't find it. EDIT: I'm getting a white screen.
kaonohiokala
>_> Options: 1. Ctrl + F 2. Repeat the process all over again and save it in a place you remember.

kaonohiokala
I'm still not completely sure about this hacking thing. But it might be: 1. You patched it wrong. 2. You don't have a US FE7 rom. "The 1235 - Fire Emblem (U).gba" is the right one.

"The 1235 - Fire Emblem (U).gba" is the right one. Everything went exactly as your instructions said, it just won't play. And I'm pretty sure it's American And now when I'm trying to redo it the files disappear.
kaonohiokala
Hmm.. I don't see why it wouldn't work for you if not one of those things... Maybe you should make sure that everything's right. I've had a few others download it and they haven't had any problems.
Florete
I even downloaded another ROM to be sure I had the right one. I did everything as said but the gba file won't play.
Florete
Make sure that it's using the save file I attached!! I missed this. How can I be sure?
kaonohiokala
Okay, so did you remember to use both patches?
Florete
Okay, so did you remember to use BOTH patches? I did everything EXACTLY as you posted. about 4 times.
kaonohiokala
And I did everything you did too to test it. It still played. I downloaded a new rom, downloaded the zipped folder, and patched it. EDIT: I love being able to edit posts. That's like the only reason I come here. EDIT2: Well not really. EDIT3: I made the directions as precise as I could. Maybe the wording was hard to understand?
Metal Rabbit
i try later...
Celice
Alright maybe it's time people left the pile of shit that is Stealth Patch. There's a new format to try that's quite respected, and worth it. Check it out here sometime. Most likely there's an error with the patching method. Either the patch was created wrong, or someone isn't patching correctly. Or their ROM is bad--get it from a different site, I'd say. Or anything, really.

Metal Rabbit
Its working for me. Question: How do you get Leonardo? And why is he an enemy unit?
Metal Rabbit
Never mind, but now i have a more serious question: What the fuck?
kaonohiokala
>_> Are you sure you didn't edit that yourself? If not, when did that happen? Explain more.
Metal Rabbit
1. in chapter 1, leo was an archer and it was fine... BUT his weapon levels had magics. (Anima, light, dark) 2. when he joined in 2, his class changed and he was a weakass "anima mage". besides, i fail at hacking to begin with. kaonohiokala
I don't know what could have made that happen. I still find it hard to believe... No unit should simply "change classes" between chapters. Changes: -Chapters up until 16E/17H have been changed. -Merlinus got some major stat boosts. -Strength/Magic replaces Constitution in the Attack Speed formula. -DB Characters have been powered up for Mist and Ike modes. -Mist's Magic stat and growth has been powered up. -Nolan's growths have been fixed (they were still Florina's growths). -A few other minor fixes have been made. Metal Rabbit
Strength/Magic replaces Constitution in the Attack Speed formula. out of curiosity, how did you manage that? Edit: Are you gonna look into this?
kaonohiokala
All I did for the formula was use a patch that Nintenlord made. Otherwise, I think it can be edited with a hex editor. As for your weird Leonardo problem, I checked all I could and I couldn't find anything that might make that happen...
Metal Rabbit
I think I may know what happened: This isn't a clean rom, this is the ROM of mine where i tried to hack Kent as a Sage who used all magics. You changed the name of sages to "anima mage" didnt you?
