Meanwhile on the week is the only time to repair the Sword of the Creator. 1-3 skill points for attacking in battle compared to classes where it gives around 24-32 point is quite a deal in the long term. Or it may be due to the exp system is based on rank and enemy promotedness/level like regular exp. With the little time give to the avatar why invest in him when you can make several others better? Maybe that's why he has an overpowered sword, to compensate for him lagging behind. I am pretty sure Byleth attends the seminars too. And you can spend all your actions on it each weekend if you want.

That's going to be the big choice, because they're amazing for weapon skill and build support points with the non students, but they don't give professor exp. Meaning if you focus only on them, you'll get less actions overall and less money. Similarly, attending a seminar means you give up on free roaming and the spending of your points for that weekend. In other words... there might be a path to make Byleth a great teacher but a limited combat unit, or vice-versa. Maybe. I'd also like a better grasp of how motivation works, the articles have implied several times that resting or going to the cafeteria is worthwhile to refill motivation, but we haven't really seen it progressively drop at this point, and if you're lucky, it recharges on its own while you tutor due to praise or advice. The face at the left of the bar is also a big question mark as to what difference it really makes, afaik.
Onestep
This game's tuition system seems remarkably in-depth. My suspicion right now is that the best approach will be using non-time spending means to quickly level up Professor XP (sneaking into people's rooms to read their diaries etc etc), with some early seminars, but eventually spending most of the weekend using faculty training. But Motivation and Supports could completely up-end that, if you need to spend a time slot or two taking people out for tea. Actually, scratch that. I completely forgot about the Divine Statues. Pumping Renown into them is probably intended to be one of the main means the player has of keeping up with student XP gain. Those stat ups don't influence Byleth's stats, but the gains from tutoring. They also can only be bought once.

Actually, looking through it, Byleth has all the makings of the Oifey-archetype. He'll probably have decent base stats, he'll have a powerful weapon and he'll have solid growths as well. He'll be slightly more limited in how he can grow initially than most of the cast, but he gains extra XP to keep him at a high level, and that, combined with his weapon and solid stats, will keep him strong throughout the game. LSM
I had speculated that you would get a "free" Seminar at the beginning of the game, to teach you the mechanic. It now appears that instead you get a "forced" Seminar. Looking at some gameplay, it looks like you get to explore the Monastery to begin, then pick which class to teach. After that: The first Sunday (4/27), you can only Explore. The second Sunday (5/4) is skipped, as there's a battle earlier in the week. The third Sunday (5/11) you can only Explore. The fourth Sunday (5/18) you can only Battle. The fifth Sunday (5/25) you can only Seminar or Rest. The sixth Sunday (6/01) is skipped, as there's a battle earlier in the week. The seventh Sunday (6/08) gives you the full choice of Explore, Seminar, Battle, and Rest. So everyone will probably want to do a Seminar on 5/25. The options for hosts are: Byleth (~D+ Swords, ~D Authority) Seteth (C Lances, C Authority) Hanneman (D Bows, C Reason) Manuela (D Swords, C Faith) It will be important earlier in that week to change students' Goals if you want to maximise the number of them attending (and benefiting from) the Seminar. Remember: it's always Byleth and up to five students with a Goal in at least one of the hosts' subjects. In general, Seteth seems by far to be the best choice. He has C's in both of his subjects, and everyone can use a boost to Authority (for Battalions) and Lances (a prerequisite of many Master Classes). Manuela and Hanneman should probably only be picked if you're trying for a Mage or Priest Byleth, or reclassing a student down a similar path. There's not too much of a reason to choose Byleth. Here's the experience you'll gain in the respective Skills (assuming base ranks, and not entirely confident about how a Weakness effects the calculations). Sorry about the wonky formatting, and apologies for any miscalculations.
