Hello72207
So as I have browsed Serenes Forest, I have noticed players challenging others to a trainee or Ross solo. I will be doing one with the following rules: -Hard Mode -Non-trainee units allowed to visit villages, meatshield, grab chests and unlock doors, and visit armories/shops. -Ephraim Route (for reasons I will show later) -No arena, skirmishes, or tower of valni/ruins -Green units can do whatever the heck they want. Prologue-chapter 1 I solo these with Eirika to increase her survivability Final Stats: Not bad to survive with, but having 7 strength on an Eirika is lucky, especially by level 6, and especially when you do not plan to use her anymore after this. More hp would have been nice. Now for Chapter 2 I sacrifice Moulder and Gillam to slow down brigands, everyone's weapons go in the supply. I give Seth 5 vulneraries, for meatshield purposes. I set up people like this: Try as they might, the brigands cannot reach ross, who can safely snipe with the hatchet. Vanessa has Franz. Let the sniping commence! First level up and we are already looking good! Speed on Ross is always good. Unfortunately, as soon as the enemies hp goes low enough, they run to the fort to heal. Dang it Ross. We plop Garcia in to kill a bunch of dudes. Res on Ross is good. Ok level up, I guess? He might be leveling it, but Ross is not that lucky. Failed to get screenshot, but Garcia died. Fun fact: If you get Ross to level 10 in this level, he will not promote in The Bandits of Borgo because of the lack of a prep screen. Last level of the level, and with that we move on to Chapter 3. Guess Ross wants to be a mage killer when he grows up. Not a bad last level up, could use more speed and skill though. Rest of the chapter goes pretty smooth, except for the thief. Until: Did I mention that at this point his hatchet has only six uses left? yeah this is gonna take a while. But eventually: Had to get a hand ax to hit, cause his hatchet broke. Chapter 4 will come soon.
Benice
I feel bad for you. I'm doing the same run right now, and it has cost me a lot of time and sanity. (Currently on my 87th attempt on the ship chapter.) FYI, the best strategy for ch. 9 is to use an unarmed Seth to aggro the mercenary and myrmidion in the room to the left of your starting point. Ross can then walk past and aggro the archer before it can get to Ephraim and Co. Good luck! My Ross turned the exact opposite: grew def twice, str twice, HP 10 times, skill 7 times, speed 5 times, res once. Amelia also had seriously terrible growths. (I'mnot very good at this series, if you couldn't tell.) Edited February 13, 2020 by Benice
eclipse
. . .and off to Let's Plays with you. Perhaps the two of you can swap strategies? (for the ship chapter, an unamred Duessel can act as a ferry for Ephraim, perhaps?)

(for the ship chapter, an unamred Duessel can act as a ferry for Ephraim, perhaps?) Believe me, I've tried. I can't actually bring a healer because Seth gets two rounded with a passenger. The best startegy I've had so far is to drop Ross into the enemy ship before the bridges form, but thenthe flierinevitably dies later on. Also, Amelia gets killedvery easily. (But this isn't thethread for that.) Anyways, @Hello72207, if you need any help or something, PM me and I'll help to the best of my ability. Last hope is the defense chapter in Rausten, right? My plan was (if possible), to rescue Mansel with General Amelia and camp on the throne while I sent Ross and Ewan to clap the boss. My experience with that chapter is the enemies throw a ton of promoted units at you, but the only dangerous ones are the swordmasters, due to their critrates and by that time my good units are overlevel anyways. Also forgot to mention-in my run I'm using Marisa because I thought that it would make it even more difficult. If I can't rescue Mansel, I'd send Ross towards where Riev spawns, Amelia down the tunnel with the warriors and Ewan down the cornr with the chests. We'll see when I get there. Hello72207
Chapter 4! did some prep before, bought 2 iron axes, a hand ax, and a steel ax. I could do this if i wanted to, but I want to keep at least some scrap of my sanity. Instead: Much better. Now on with the chapter. Artur grabs the iron axe village, and Vanessa immediately flies Eirika to safety. Ross goes to kill a monster, and Seth moves to aggro. Artur dies, but I already had snatched his stuff with Vanessa, so we good. Missed a screenshot, but Ross leveled up and gained hp, skill, and speed. Sigh... at least he will most likely max hp. Yet again with a res level. Ross's res growth is 20%, and he is averaged to have 4 at level 12, not 4. Speed is nice though I suck at making screenshots, and Ross leveled defense and hp. Ross is a master of offence and defence, and he really likes the res stat in this run. Another boring level up. Lute gives us a fire tome and a needed vulnerary, so we grab her. This boss is a pushover compared to bazba, but it gives 100 exp so i like it. And that is the end of chapter 4. Next up is the heck that will be chapter 5. whase
I did a super trainee +lords run once, that was actually quite easy. Not using lords in such small teams seems like torture, have fun. (I did however keep everyone alive, Artur dying for you just breaks my heart, poor Lute.)

Small teams mean your units become overleveled. If your units are the slightest bit evasive, at some point they will just not get hit, or receive very little damage. And if your HP ever does get low, this happens so infrequently that you have plenty of elixers laying around. Early game becomes tougher though. Before you're overleveled, vulneraries and meatshield Jagens are your best friend. And FE8 luckily doesn't have this problem, but plenty of FE's where I run out of weapons before the first shop (since I'm not using half the weapons supplied with my small teams)
Hello72207
Guys, I screwed up with the save for this, and so my Ross is a little different as I ended up halfway through the monster level and I got some differing level ups. I ground about 50 different rn combinations and could not recreate previous levels. Here is the new Ross. Somehow he got even more Res, one less skill for one more speed, one more hp, one more strength, two less luck and defense. Chapter 5: The first hard chapter This chapter is tough for one Ross. Multiple sword users, multiple enemies coming from multiple places, and to top it off, Ross has not gotten overleveled enough to take them all on. It took me a few attempts but here we go. Vanessa grabs the dracoshield, which is the only item we will get. Ross goes to the right, and Seth puts Eirika and Natasha in a corner like this: Now no enemy can get to them. Ross levels up. Ross continues clearing out units over there, and levels up again. Â Vanessa flies up to try and get the secret book house, and the second brigand spawn happens. Ross goes to clear the enemies that are attacking Seth, who has a conversation with Eirika about his lance arm. (support) Vanessa manages to get the secret book house without dying, and now the brigands are heading for the armorslayer house. The third group has also arrived and is heading for Amelia and the torch house, which Vanessa can reach in one turn. Vanessa grabs the torch over the armorslayer. Ross is making up for his poor speed earlier. Turn 13 and we are almost ready to advance to the middle part of the city. No mogall or status stave scares Ross. I kinda find it funny that for a couple of turns all Vanessa has been able to do is sit in the corner and cower in fear. Natasha finally gets to recruit Joshua. I suppose the good level ups had to stop at some point. I wonder if Ross will max hp? Â Seth goes to buy about 10-15 vulneraries, and vanessa buys some more axes for Ross. With that, Ross goes to kill Saar, and end this chapter. Ross, I do not think you are supposed to have your resistance equal your defence. Attempts at this chapter: 3 fails, 1 success. Hello72207
Chapter 5x Here is the reason why I choose Ephraim's route: This greatly increases his survival and means he will not die easily. I drop every weapon except for the silver sword and killer lance. Chapter 6: Ross uses the Secret Book, and we start the chapter. Vanessa grabs the torch village and starts flying toward the villagers. Seth rescues Eirika and heads for the fortress. Ross makes a beeline for the boss. And there is the strength max. Seth gets his first level up from dodging. I swear I am not rn grinding for these res level ups. Ross finishes novala and ends the chapter, and we managed to blitz through it fast enough to get the orion's bolt, so extra gold for us. Hello72207
Chapter 7 is pretty boring, Ross goes up and right across the river straight for the boss, and Vanessa rescues Eirika and follows suit, while Seth blocks the bridge. The only real interesting things are Ross's level ups. I'm currently having an error with screenshots, but lvl 19 was 1 hp and 1 luck, and level 20 was 1 hp, 1 luck, and 1 defense.

Benice
My god, your Ross is turning out amazing! Mine's 10/20 were 40 hp, 15 str, 16 skl, 12 spd, 13 lck, 9 def, (11 with a dragonshield,) 4 res. My biggest mistake on my run was not using Ephraim in 5x, because I didn't want to make my run easier. I should have made my run easier by doing so, but oh well. Good luck on 8, it gave me a fair share of aches and pains.

By promoting him into a pirate, I promote a chapter earlier and with an item that is a lot easier to get. Also +15 crit and water/mountain walking is helpful also. Your Ross got seriously rng screwed on strength, but has +6 skill on my Ross after I gave him the secret book, and 1 more speed. I am saving one dragonshield for Amelia and 1 for Ewan. As for 8, I think I know what I am gonna do.

I also wanted better weapon versatility than what Berserkers provided. Last time I made ross a fighter/hero, he had roughly 20/23 speed/skill. Yeah, not promoting earlier sucks, but I figured that Amelia would have at least a few decent levels so I could leave her to deal with a few of the cavs who spawn in bethroen. She didn't.
Hello72207
Chapter 8! I start by pulling Eirika, Seth, and Colm back and placing Ross on the pillar. Ross slaughters the soldiers and goes down and to the left. Forde rescues Ephraim and he and Kyle sprint to the right. Kyle and Forde die but it allows Ephraim to continue running to the right. Ephraim is welcome because he brings 2 elixirs, a killer lance, and a silver sword. We will probably sell the silver sword but Amelia will like the killer lance. After that we just go up, clear some enemies out, grab the chest, kill Tirado (he is a lance-wielding general against our buff boi, he didn't stand a chance) and go to the next level. Actually, to give Tirado credit, he put up a good fight: But unfortunately, he only managed to activate it once.

Kentucky fried Tana's pegasus sounds pretty good to me right now, actually. If I can't beat mine by attempt 135, Tana's being sack of riced. Helpful notes for ch. 11 (Spoilered in case you don't want them.) Spoiler The two Entombed on the enemy ship don't move until turn 4, even if Ross is on their ship. The enemy ship moves next to you on turn 2, bridges form on turn 3 If you put Amelia on the top right of your ship with a javelin, she can kill a mogall. Turn 5 is when the boss spawns. Try to be mostly off of your starting ship by this time, or the boss, his lackeys and the million Mogalls wil kill you bad. If you drop Ross off in the enemy ship, keep him closer to the middle of the ship, since the Mogalls will do a number on him. However, yours does have amazing Res, so you might be fine. On turn 5, L'Arachel might die before she moves. To prevent this, you have to kill the Wight or at least aggro it. From the north of the ships, there will be 6 or so Mogalls .who descend to attack you starting turn 5. There is one Mogall who will attack you from turn 1. From the south, I think there's about four. The boss spawns with five gargoyles, and three more will start to move from the other side of the map. Bring a killer axe or something if you can't double the gargoyles; they are annoting as heck and just refuse to die. Even if Ross is a berserker. Trust me. I wouldn't recommend bringing a healer, they'll make positioning even harder and will likely die just as you need them. Bring Duessel. That's the most important one; he's the only good meatshield option.  Edited February 16, 2020 by Benice
