True. I know cats don't actually hate water more than any other animal or person doesn't like getting drenched when they don't want to be. Excuse a small joke at the expense of behavioral accuracy.

And thanks for this. Looks to be based on the 2nd/MD version, but not exactly the same.

Speaking of which, why did the MD vid I check for this show the unlucky grunt being exploded as a mass-produced W Series? How are they still around? *Remembers Haken is here now.* ...Did they slip through? But then who gave them the mecha?

Also afaik the FE games ''represented'' aren't exactly my fav. (aren they mostly Archanea characters iirc?)

True, although it's not like the Mirage (FE) characters are the focus of things, other than Tiki. TMS really is an orphan, a game with genes from three parents, yet estranged from them all.

Well also the whole idol thingy

Can't provide a simple statement on this. This will be more a matter of personal... "tolerances" is a word that I guess applies? Opinions? Preferences?

The game doesn't go into the serious IRL dark side of idolatry, not at all. That I can say with 100% certainty.

Does TMS crank the idolatry up to intolerably cutesy levels? Well, I survived it, and so did Armagon. -Although Armagon did survive Cold Steel while you died and all that remains is a fraction of your former soul which reentered the now-undead body it once called home. So maybe he isn't the best representative. And neither am I for other reasons.

There is no "Idol Mode", no having to manage idols, dress them up, plan out silly concerts and then perform in them via a minigame or anything. It's got idols in the story, and in some of the special attacks' flashiness, but not in real gameplay. It's a JRPG to its core.

Well, joke can still stand, heh.

I wouldn't be surprised if so. Meanwhile with the 30 video it's a Z3 mook getting blown up. Since...

Spoiler

30 outright goes to all but outright state the Z-verse was the previous universe before 30's. I think they dabble into the concept of samsāra, with the Z3 mooks having been picked up by the main OG antagonists 12 million years ago and brought them out as a last "screw you!" to the protagonists after being defeated. So yeah, the post-game enemies are Z3 mechs. This is also how the final boss of Z3 Tengoku Hen is around too. He was banished to his own pocket dimensional prison and is still there 12 million years later.

Can't we have more Tellius, Jugdral or even Magvel reps in spinoffs?

Well Warriors did throw in some Valentia and Elibe reps.

....one of each.

But yeah, it is a problem. I just said "oh well" tho. It does help that the characters featured are given banger designs tho.

Good 3D models cost $$$, and I doubt we'll get a 3D gatcha where the gold can just roll on in from the whales.

Maybe if we get another FEW in the next few years and a Jugdral remake happens beforehand we can get a few Jugdralis. Although I would expect mostly if not entirely Fodlanians.

Honestly the "I shaved off all my hair to apologize for having considered a boyfriend" nightmares do sound intriguing. (I read a head-shaving idol article once, probably over a decade ago, possibly on the Wii's old news app. I have not forgotten it since.)

It's about an industry in another country, likely rooted in specific cultural flaws of said country. That it's not my own country is good, because it lets me not feel personally so screwed by living directly in the society where it is happening.

That, and while it is terrible that it happened, I did take notice of this article I saw on Kotaku yesterday about some anime artist who got arrested for importing child pornography from Germany. The commenters on the article speaking of Japan's manganime culture and the emphasis on the schoolgirl creating the conditions where this can happen caught my eye. A similar and very likely related specific cultural problem.

Hmm...

Spoiler

The Zverse being directly before 30 rules out the possibility that Zverse is before the OGverse. Some people were speculating the latter was the case.

In particular, it makes it more likely OG Masaki becomes Asakim (possibly via Imitation Lichrol Converter overuse) than Asakim became OG Masaki. -If they don't opt for having an OG Asakim apart from Z Asakim. The nigh-infinite multiverse can hold two of them.

Thank you for the info.

I know the "VXT trilogy" is a thing. But Z was the last major non-OG subseries it seems. Z1 also moved a half-million copies. Adding in dimensional shenanigans being something the Z villains engage it, I can see grounds for why Z would show up in 30.

A big nostalgic grin?😄

I getcha -well not the same game. Rather, the same feeling and physical expression. I've been experiencing it lately myself for other things. I don't even understand it. What is the biomechanical workings behind nostalgia?

When their lives basically end after school and they became workslaves more than the rest of the world, no wonder they idolize school time so much.

All it leads to is a shitty situation like the stuff you mentioned, and society being super collective...which gotta suck (atleast from a western point of view)

Oh really? That's interesting. Well, since parallels worlds are still a thing, don't discount the possibility of a side-transferal.

Expectedly, Kyosuke and Excellen will be their Compact2/Impact selves. Kyosuke recognizes the Combattler Team, who also showed up over there.

If by romantic you mean blasting ghosts and monsters with a gun thing on a roller coaster through a haunted house then yes.

Sounds romantic enough.

You can only have a character go on the horror ride with Lloyd once, so that kind of happened, yeah. I’d just alternate until I ran out of tickets/messed up really early and then reset, and once I’d reset Rixia was usually always the first choice.

So is your partner selected randomly, or did you pick Rixia yourself?

You can't even pass it over between the two halves of Cold Steel lmao

To be fair, that's because II and III were initially released on different consoles.

I don't think my Bootcamp has enough storage to download all three Sky games, but maybe I can transfer between the first two and then uninstall the first to give me enough space for 3rd. I would need to reinstall Bootcamp with more storage if I want to play Cold Steel I and II, assuming my laptop could run those, but my laptop can run Minecraft so I might be fine. I would need an unreasonable amount of storage to get the transfer bonuses, unless Steam remembers what you did even with the games uninstalled. Every other Trails game will be available on the Switch so I don't have to worry about those.

They could've added a choice at the beginning of CS3 that the players answer dependant on what they chose in CS1/2

Bam problem solved

yet they went the lazy way instead

You get to pick your partner from a list of 11.

Even then, at the end of the day, you don’t have to worry about carrying over from Sky too much, all you’re missing out on is a slightly more powerful Estelle (if she hits a certain level in FC, she starts at a higher level in SC) and different dialogue and rewards if you do the quest of an NPC whose quest you did in the last game (none of the bonus rewards are that good). In Sky 3rd, you get two accessories at the beginning of the game if you got max bracer rank in SC and some septic for carrying over a save file at all. That’s it.

It’s not until Crossbell that decisions from your save file start getting referenced (unless you count having done certain side quests in FC, but that’s very minor), since my final bonding event from Zero has been referenced like 3 times in Azure which sucks because I got the worst one.

And isekais! The epitome of escapism.

America can overuse high school drama the same, albeit more gritty. I wouldn't mind reading someone's PhD-earning dissertation titled "Transpacific High: A Comparison On High School Life in Japanese And American Popular Entertainment And The Societies That Created Them". I like international perspectives.

Although what keeps Japan from using college very much? Does it take away that much young, innocent freedom and force you into the soulless work machine?

True, though it would be a little anticlimactic. Banpresto has from a couple vids and comments I've seen dangled little things that've attracted speculation from Z1 to Z3.

Speaking of which, it feels sorta strange Banpresto would let this hang out for what is now six years since Z3 (13 since Z1). Although, Cobray's OGs 1 appearance means he has been teased since 2007. A decade-and-a-half it'll be next year and yet he still hasn't joined the heroes (TBF, Alpha 3's time hadn't remotely come yet, and we've reached Al3 there now). At least Banpresto isn't George R.R. Martin.

Not sure when they made it, but I do like the UI change to show off any Seishins/Spirits that are in effect and let you apply them in the pre-engagement window. I tend to double and triple check just to make sure I've Blessed-Cheered-Valored before I go for a big kill, which is annoyingly time-consuming.

Oh, and it's good to see that Rein can Rampage Ghost like in OG now. Should've said that earlier. I recall reading only the regular Weissy can in Impact, which I take it could've been done to compensate for the Rein being optional vs. giving a Getter an upgrade (strange that they would have an OG vs. licensed choice like that, but in a charming "the bland rules weren't set in stone" way).

So you've whipped through Rondo of Blood? Old-fashioned arcadey platformers can be like that, capable of being finished in one sitting. Not like you don't already have plenty of 30+ hrs RPGs to play through, this dovetails well as a contrast.

Alright, I think it’s time for the battle even the emperor of Shrimps had trouble with. And if it’s against who I think it’s against, it will definitely be tricky.

True. I guess we might soon see once 3rd OG comes and it's the last.

Yeah, only regular Weiss could. Indeed, it was a choice between Rein Weissritter and the Shin Getter Robo. A curious one, but it was there.

And here's Ultraman! Not surprisingly, the Gridman characters (or at least just the guys) fanboy over it... and Gilliam recognizes it.

...

smh Kamen Rider isn't in this for that Compati Heroes reunion...
