FE5 (Thracia 776) Randomizer by hexrobot

I started this project in 2020 because of boredom and after furious keyboard mashing and long hours playtesting somehow managed to finish 🥳. Works with most roms.

Read the code on Github.

Features:

  • Randomizes character and enemies bases, growths, classes, leadership stars, vigor stars, skills, etc.
  • Randomizes weapon attributes (Might, Accuracy, Critical, etc.) and item rewards.
  • Balance options (some of them to make the game easier).
  • Shuffles character portrait palettes 🤩.

Some notes I have noticed from starting a run:

Currently Lil' Manster doesn't seem to be recognized by name yet, but the randomization still works fine.

Only Leif's angry portrait's palette is changed while his normal portrait is the same.

I think the scroll stats in the log are slightly offset and the columns should be in order of Def/Build/Luck instead of Luck/Def/Build, based on comparing the original stats.

There are 3 instances of Lifis in the log while the rest are Rifis.

I appreciate your feedback! my eyes are very tired.

What emulator are you using? I tested a randomized-palette Lil manster 1.08 on Snes9x and couldn't reproduce the bug.

Newer versions of Lil Manster cannot be reliabily identified, older versions modified the internal rom name but the newers don't.

Lil manster 1.05:

However that doesn't affect randomization at all as the data tables are on the same location.

I am on Snes9x 1.62.3 and Lil' Manster 1.08. My seed is [Fala Scroll][Fire Tome][Torch][Fala Scroll][Fire Tome][Torch] if that helps.

Some more notes from my current run up to Chapter 17A. It's been pretty fun and I like the different palettes. So far I feel like I've made the game go pretty smoothly because of all the personal swords and leadership stars available, but it's let me train a wide variety of people, though I did not keep knight proofs safe so I've had to decide on who changes most from promotion and who is already self sufficient, which is at least pretty easy to achieve in FE5.

My Pirate Brighton became a god on promotion and Carrion was pretty blessed with his random growths all going up.

One option I would suggest a change to is the randomization of growths weighting movement the same as other growths for variance, so move growths all end up as either mostly dropping to 0 and some increasing to 10-30 currently. It's funny to have these characters that can get high move consistently, but I think an option to retain the single digit move growths specifically would be nice too because those were always a memorable moment in vanilla.

In general the army data for chapters is helpful to check inventories at a glance, though sometimes the unit map previews don't correspond to their actual locations on the map. Here you can see Mareeta takes up slot 1 on the map of Chapter 12 which is one of the bandit reinforcements.

Olwen's event visiting the house in Chapter 12 remained as a Magic Ring, which was probably better anyway.

I noticed that some enemy bishops are left unrandomized and are named as Augusts in the log, pictured here in 17A.
