  1. I beat first story of Scarlet Curiosity.

Whilst both games share muziek and graphics, there are few differences compared to New World:

    1. less dungeons, so shorter
    2. no optional quests
    3. no forging
    4. no manual upgrade of stats
    5. healing is less flexible, it's limited by being forced to break vases
    6. it has a SP system, SP can be obtained by killing enemies and breaking vases, so using skills is limited and depend on SP, in New World skill regenerate after a certain amount of time
    7. no guarding and counterattacks which made the close combat a lot harder for me, it's possible to combo the enemy so hard that they can't counterattack, but if attacking at the wrong time, it's also easy to be punished very hard

New World is pretty much the fixed version of Scarlet Curiosity, but I still enjoyed SC.

oc not as goede as NW, but having at least one rather exotic playable character in case of Remilia, it's cool!

  2. I finished Touhou New World, the latest Touhou spinoff.

It's an action RPG, pretty much Touhou x Ys.

Whilst its gameplay wasn't flawless due to poor camera angle somtimes (too far away from the protagonist), it was fun overall.

The dungeons didn't offer big puzzles but at least some challenging platformer parts.

The skill system was flexible; skills could be manually interchanged as manual healing at any time was possible.

A reward system of bonus points for fulfilling main and side quests existed which could be used to buff the character's stats or add some slots like more healing points.

Forging system also existed, but it was based on luck. Weapons even could be nerfed. At least it was nice it existed...I guess.

The most standing out aspect of the game was the soundtrack. Whilst lots of the bangers from Scarlet Curiosity were reused, the exclusive tunes weren't less of a banger either. The soundtrack was amazing!

    Spoiler

For Touhou fans who don't mind action RPGs, it's a goede game.

For hardcore action RPGs fans, it's not a bad game, but it has too many gameplay flaws.

For belonging myself to both categories I enjoyed this game, and it had replaybility for having two different stories / two different protagonists.

    7.5 / 10

  3. beat New World today

it felt like Touhou x Ys

loved the gameplay and especially soundtrack although the story was a bif confused the visuals during battles weren't always the best (camera is too far away from the player and the enemies are so tiny sometimes, it's easy to oversee them)

otherwise it made tons of fun

yet have to beat postgame and starting second story

overall despite a few flaws my second most favourite Touhou spinoff after Luna Nights

(maybe Gensou Wanderer might top it, but I'm daunted to play it due to its length (people said it can be 100 h long)

    leaving a little soundtrack impression:

  4. Isn't the hitrate very low due to the enemies's authority stars?

I never even tried capturing in this chapter because of this.

(I don't remember if it's possible to instant capture them despite them having a long range tome)

Either way the easiest enemy of this map to kill is probably

    Spoiler

    the final boss.

  5. Thracia 776's final map would've been my favourite, if there hadn't been the fact that tools for unlocking the door had been required.

Seriously I love the idea of seizing six thrones (or however many it were) by fighting the stongest enemies before which have buffed stats, threatening skills and authority stars which demands of using all the staves very wisely to have an easier and especially faster time with this chapter, but the problems are the doors for me. It's annoying that no one drops door keys, so it's theoretically possible not to pass the final map because of that (if no warp / rescue / rewarp / unlock / lockpicks are left either).

I voted for Radiant Dawn because taking out the auras feels like a puzzle, and I love puzzles.

As for the final boss I'm about to say FE12 Medeus for that fact...it's really threatening on higher difficulties.

As for the final boss from the personality aspect, it's Ashnard, because it's a 1 vs. 1 fight at its purest.

  6. Defeating the final boss of Kirby: Planet Robobot's true arena with an empty health bar.

Also defeating the final boss of FIre Emblem Three Houses: The Ashen Wolves with about a handful of units at the end because everyone else was sacrificed.

  7. oooh, I am 🙂

I finished II, Origin and Oath of Felghana (latter being my favourite).

Also owning VIII and IX, but yet have to play them.

Mainly the soundtrack brought me into this series, though I also enjoy the gameplay quite a lot!

It's been really disappointing to see such a nosedive in activity recently, and it especially feels like it's happened really fast, too. I enjoy checking in at least once a day to see what's going on, but there hasn't really been a whole lot going on to begin with.

The older I get, the more I realize why people miss stuff from back in the day. Yeah, "times change" and all that, but I can never get used to it.

I mean in my case I was OBSESSED by Fire Emblem until about 2018 (played Radiant Dawn > 250 times).

Though after a time I got burnt out, so wanted to discover other series / franchises.

The reason I became less and less active and interested in this series.

However after the years my interest came back.

And seeing this place at this conditions made me a bit :tangerinesadness:.

At least to see some people here I remember back from my active time here.

Though this place shouldn't serve as a big reunion place.

Btw where to find the link to Discord?

    Competition

    Almost thought so.

I know it's not the appropriate place to ask this, but the other places like Wiki or Discord more lively?

Ik internet is a come and go, and most of my friends I learned to know back in the second half of 2010s are gone, but I'd expect to see a new group.

Seeing an OG is always a pleasant surprise for me.

I think Florete is even one.

I remember this place having > 100 viewers at its best times (mainly for new FE announcement but still), but even when Engage was announced and came out, the amount of viewers was less than in standard times in the period I mentioned.

I know I kinda got off from Fire Emblem the past years, but I still love talking about certain games.

    I kinda miss it...

  10. Considering I'm not really interested in most of these franchises (including Mario), I think it was a good showcase after all, especially for fans of these games / franchises.

I might even try the Mario RPG since I started to get in the Paper Mario series.

Pikmin 4 also might appeal me, but I need to see more of this game.
