So, I finally started fates with a fem!Corrin and I'm trying to understand how the growth system works and all... and I have a question. I'm currently running birthright with only two couples so far, Takumi with Azura and Ryoma with Mozu, and while I don't really aim to perfection (it's me messing around right now) I want to start to learn how to make decent kids and I wanted to ask... what skills should I pass down to Takumi!Shigure, Azura!Kiragi and Mozu!Shiro? So I can start messing around and see also how reclassing and everything works?

You're not the only one who left the forum to dodge prerelease spoilers... I am back only because I finally played the game and now i don't risk them anymore but I have to admit that all the people tring to spoiler me had me approaching fates with a general "meh" feeling and I think they basically ruined the whole adventure to me. Heck, for the longest time I kind of professed how Ninian was a better version of Azura because I couldn't stand all the Azura obsessed fan who kept trying to tell me how precious their waifu was even when I still had to see fates. The fact that it arrived really late in europe didn't help and I will be honest, I'd replay Awakening any time, like the other games, but fates? Eh, pass...

Where is the Morgan Option? Why aren't we talking about the most precious woman in the army when we are supposed to be M!Avatar? My baby for best girl, no matters who the mom is! Oh, well, voting for Maribelle because she's equally awesome.

I'm just seriously starting to wonder if we're dealing with a troll because the level of the comments are somehow... both endearing and kind of creepy. There is no effing point for a japanese game to have english voices! Why do you think games are out in japan first and usually a month (At least) later in other regions? Because the original games are often *only* in japanese and they need to be translated. I don't know what you were expecting, honestly, but if a game isn't in your main language and you can't leave without half naked underage kids it's your problem- one solution? Learn japanese.

It's going to be a shock but.- it's a japanese game never meant to be played outside of japan and most people in japan speak japanese only! This about this from a business standpoint: game X is going to be translated in another country anyway, would you spend money to have an unnecessary translation in a game that's not supposed to need it?

... considering how much I love FE7 I'd actually love for this theory to be true. And in any case it's a nice headcanon :P

Then roll with it ;) Severa is a good unit in any case, You may want to pass her down galeforce directly from her mother and tomefaire from her father because her start will be a bit slow (I have one save file with it, even if it's just one of my 'to collect logs' one so it's not going to run in apo or anything) and you'll want to train her a bit. And keep in mind her mag growth will still be... a bit lower than her strenght since she gets +4 Skill. +3 Speed. +2 Strength. +1 Magic, Defense and Resistance. -1 Luck Lifetaker and Sol can make her pretty resistant if you want to throw her in the front line with Cyn. A better mage!Severa would be Ricken!Severa and on the other hand Owain would be a Top Tier character with Libra as father (Probably the best one, as far as I know) If you'll ever considered to switch. That being said, if you're going in because you like the couple (they *are* lovely, I admit it :P) just ignore everything I've said and enjoy your game like I do with my non-optimized pairs :P

I use both Maribelle!Lucina (And I have My Unit married with Brady) and Fred!Yarne and they're both fine in my opinion (and two of the three pairings I'll never change, with CherchexHenry)... or at least for my experience. And, yes, I completed Apotheosis multiple times, without issues, with them. Maribelle can benefit from a Dreadfighter Chrom (only boost in magic avaiable between his classes) and if used in apotheosis she's an awesome rescue-user and she's perfect to carry around staves in sage class. As Galeforcer she can also support with finishing certain units and then running away (and rescuing the units she helped). Lucina is good. I use mages all around so for me it was love. She has all she needs to be a great dark flier, especially paired with a sage (I don't S-support children units so she was wit her nephew Morgan at A rank) and iI had her with Aether, Luna, Tomefaire, LB and Galeforce. I'm far from an optimizer but she cleared her fair share of units in apotheosis just fine. Brady... can be good as sage. He really needs nothing from his father, Brady is just +that+ good. Fred!YArne for me... is a support unit. I have him usually paired with Severa or Kjelle and he is a berserker who hits really hard from the sidelines. Pair him with a strong unit in the front and will offer nice dps bonuses. I have him with LB, Aggressor, Axefaire, all stats+2 and, for the rare times he is alone, Wrath. the skillset is limited, sadly, and he could benefit from a sniper line... still, like in Maribelle and Chrom's case, I really enjoy the parent-pairing and I learnt to like him as he is. My only suggestion here? I think Severa preferes a physical dad, if you are avaiable for a switch of sort... Lon'Qu makes a great dad for Severa and she gets insane speed growth. With galeforce, all stats +2 (if you have the dlc) you already have 54 of speed, Swordmaster would grant her access to Astra and swordfaire and she'd probably be able to dps her way around with ease. That being said, if you like the pairing of Cordelia and Libra, just roll with it ;)

I think it's just a random comment, thought, since they went with their mother/original arts haircolors and Severa had no one who could give her mother's red hair like Kjelle had no one who could give her black ones. Honestly? As far as I care they're still kids of my favorite pairings and they all leave to return in their world, which one they choose, after fates. Point is: Owain had always been a mage, he just never properly embraced it canonically. I remember him as Libra's son or as my mage!Avatar's and he was a beast. Honestly? It felt more powerful as second gen unit with some planning than now as Odin. Where is my galeforce, son? I trained Lissa so much just to grant you access to it! *shakes fists* On the character development- I still struggle to believe they just left their friends behind. They're somehow implied to be the three from awakening, why not calling the others? Or the avatar. Or Lucina, Laurent or a competent healer like Brady!

uhn... in terms of best units? I am biased toward them so they usually end up overpowered but I'd say: - Ilyana - Titania - Nephenee - Soren - Mist I basically always end up building my teams around them...

You're not along on that, they managed to pick *the* three kids I never liked. It's kinda funny, actually, but at least I learnt to like Inigo a little more with more supports?

The temptation to go randomly is strong... My main problem is that I literally dived in the game with no spoilers or guide whatsoever so I'm not even entirely sure on how kids inherith skills and classes... is there a link anywhere for a good explanation ont the matter?

Lunatic went somehow smoothly. It was a bit hard in the first chapters but when I got Chrom Married, Lucina with Galeforce and my main couples ready with their support bonuses I was okay. Lunatic +, on the other hand... "Everyone's doing this, I have to give it a try. Heck, I completed hard modes in other Fire Emblems" "Wait, what's that? Luna +? Vantage+?" "AH- THANKS REY, I SURVIVED WITH YOUR SUGGESTIONS!" *while doing the water trick THE mage keeps critting* "I regret this so much...." Chapter 2 was RNGhell incarnated... But somehow now I'm addicted to lun+ and I can't wait to play fates (I'm still completely spoilerless, all I know is that the blue haired chick is a dancer who looks like ninian) because I want new challenges
