  1. Uh, Crash, last time I checked, you STILL have Jeigan as your avatar.

  2. Frankly, I don't care if it annoys you, because everything seems to annoy you. You have such a high opinion of yourself and the "things you know already" that anyone else's opinion or information is inherently stupid to you. I recall one post in particular, where you asked the forum community general to kiss your feet for having such a high opinion of Oguma. Since you are clearly a genius superior to us lesser beings and my opinion is stupid by default, I'm going to need your help. In order for me to understand how to communicate with you in a reasonable manner, I would like you to give me a point-by-point list of the things that don't annoy you, preferably tiered from top to low so that they are easy to understand. If you make it something a monkey could interpret, perhaps I'll even be able to talk to you without you throwing a fit every time. Although honestly, I don't see why I should even have to walk on eggshells around you when everyone else seems able to get along in a positive and conversational manner. Back on topic: I brought Navarre up in response to BBlader's comment about "Navarre not knowing what he wants." I was agreeing with him, and pointed out the reasons why Navarre's role is ambiguous so as to further discussion on the topic. When Navarre's role is clear, it is easier to draw comparisons to other characters. How can we even begin to compare Navarre to Minerva if we aren't even at a consensus about what class progression Navarre uses? I haven't got anything else to say regarding Ellis. I think all the major points have been covered already. In summary: Contributing positive healing utility with a staff rank, even if your stats are awful > Combat unit with negative utility that dies because stats are awful.
  3. Have you played any of the Final Fantasy Tactics games? Ogre battle is a lot like that. Personally, I find Tactics Ogre a bit static, as the exp mechanic of the game prevents you from ever gaining a significant level lead over the enemy. You're always the same, relative power-wise, to the enemy, so I feel like I'm not making much progress. Tactics Ogre had wonderful music, though. Unfortunately, this game was not localized to the US. You can pick up Tactics Ogre: The Knights of Lodiss on GBA and get 90% of the authentic experience, though. The original Ogre Battle, on the other hand, was really interesting. It was a sort of combination RTS/something else. Back on topic: I didn't find Yggdra Union to be any more complicated than the metagame of the average FE game. Particularly if you include more complicated ones like Radiant Dawn or FE4, where you have to worry about inheritance and skills. (Not defending Knights in the Nightmare though, lol.) I haven't gotten a chance to play Riviera yet, but a lot of people seem to have a really positive opinion about it. Does it have what I'll call the "Sting touch?" I wonder if it's hard to find.
  4. I always imagine the cavalier duos in any particular FE game more as frat brothers than potential "partners". "Yeah bro! Spear that soldier! Whoooo!" Of course, then the homosexual undertones of "spearing" anything will quickly be refuted with "I'm not gay! Are you a fag!?"
  5. I should really try Navarre as a Cavalier on my next H5 run. I'm never really satisfied with this character; his HPs are decent, but his Def is average to low, so his durability is always "meh, passable". Meanwhile, he doubles in the right class, but doesn't build very much Str, so his offense has never really impressed me. Another mediocre result. I guess I almost feel worse about him than a character I expect to suck in the first place; at least I have a strong option about suck!character, and can plan around their weaknesses, while Navarre never really seems to get any unique strengths, or any noteworthy qualities at all for that matter. He gives Oguma an assist in C3 with the Killer Edge, I guess. I think my main beef is that he just doesn't seem to be exceptionally good at any one class; reclassing patches one stat hole, only to open another. Cavalier: Decent to Good durability, Speed becomes Villuck-like though, which is unimpressive. Offense is underwhelming as a result. Myrmidon: Doubles, but is weak, so offense is only on par. Swords are generally bad, except on select chapters. Durability is bad because Lance enemies own him. Archer: I don't need to explain why this is bad. Curate: Anyone can do this. Maybe Navarre is better than others because of 60% HP? Mage: No base Mag. Dunno, enemies have lolnoRes, so maybe it's passable. There aren't many free slots for Mages earlygame though, and he competes with Marich and Shiida.
  6. We all like turn-based strategy here, right ;)? I feel like Sting's big flaw is simply that they are overambitious; they try to innovate or introduce new game mechanics in every area of the game, regardless if it actually needs additional mechanics. Their games can feel a bit "cluttered" as a result. This is especially true of Knights in the Nightmare. Still, I think when they consolidate their ideas a bit, they are going to make a game that is astoundingly good. In the meantime, we've got Yggdra Union. Sometimes, I feel like I am the only fan of this game. It's not perfect by any means, but despite it's flaws, it manages to be a really entertaining, endearing, and unique turn-based strategy game. It's got freaking awesome music (keep in mind, this is a GBA game): Why is there a slap bass solo coming out of my DS!? So cool. This is one of the few GBA titles that I can actually say I wanted to rock out to. It's also got really cute character designs. I know all you Higurashi mofos love it when lolis battle.
  7. Continuing that thought: I'm guessing it's a pretty safe bet that she's got gaining 14 levels in 7 chapters to be equivalent to Soren when she rejoins. Once she rejoins with Ike and co., she is worse/underleveled compared to the other units, so is rarely fielded, if at all. She doesn't gain much/any exp and remains underleveled, and is eventually overlooked for endgame. Basically, she's in the same boat as the rest of the Dawn Brigade: she doesn't compare favorably to the GM's, who are already higher leveled. Underleveled/low tier units become more underleveled by comparison, while high tier units accumulate more exp and move further ahead; the disparity increases. Is that all about right? It makes a little more sense to me now.
  8. Since it's been brought up, (even if jokingly) I'd appreciate a refresher on Ilyana's tier location. It seems like she'd be better, when she has the best availability of any Sage (even better than Soren, if I recall), and she's available early, when Sages suck less. At least in the more difficult DB chapters Sages (Ilyana particularly) contribute useful damage when the Dawn Brigade is sucking. Her tome of choice also kills Dragons. I'm guessing the big reason she's so low is that Sages are just bad in general in this game (particularly Speed cap)? Not really too interested in debating it, just curious more than anything.
  9. Of course. If Julian's combat is inferior, then a Master Seal is a fair tradeoff and Katua is better. I'm just saying the posts I've seen thus far in this topic have made out Julian and Katua to be roughly equivalent, regarding combat.
  10. Unpromoted Ellis contributed positive utility in C25/Final Chapter. True story. On Katua vs Julian: Thus far, it looks like most people have proven that Katua is roughly comparable to Julian. However, if that is the case, wouldn't Julian win because he doesn't compete for a Master Seal? It seems like Katua would have to be significantly better than Julian in order to justify the opportunity cost of fielding her.
  11. I found C24 to be pretty easy if you fly Draco!Cain/Abel with a Forged Dragonpike and the Iote Shield over to assassinate the boss on the first couple turns. Without any reinforcements, the map is pretty manageable.
  12. Ah, perhaps I should have elaborated on that comment. Est's starting equipment has no special value, because Est is always available. Getting her equipment has no opportunity cost, so we can assume we'll always obtain it. However, Arran vs. Samson is a special case either/or situation. Getting one character precludes the other. If you plan to use neither of them, then picking the one with more valuable gear (to distribute to your other units) would be optimal. One character's gear does have value relative to the other's, because they exclude each other. Eh, I guess it's not that big a deal. Plenty of gold in this game and you could have purchased plenty of Silver/Killer weapons by this stage of the game if you wanted them.
  13. Pretty bangin' Sonic 3 remix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Iuvb9sm_pA
  14. I think it's pretty obvious that she likes girls. It's too bad she was introduced in a game that didn't have support conversations, because I'm sure hers would have been hilarious.
  15. Can never have too many tier lists, I guess? A man cannot expect to have arbitrary numbers without inquiry, though. Is Matthis on the list? I might have missed him (sounds about comparable to his in-game performance, actually...) Bord is absent too, I think. Since this is a tier list for "proper" things, clearly Nyna should be GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK Tier. Nothing's more proper than a Princess. Mario needs to be in Mario tier. Suggest adding Weegee tier and putting Luigi, Abel, Rickard, Bord and Boah in it.
