  1. Wait wait. So I can class change from Lord to Great Lord, and then to Conqueror, and then to Great Lord again? Or does it stop at Conqueror? You have nobody in your team to buff/debuff? Itsuki seems to be great for that. I meant more of special skills exclusive to Great Lord (though I guess I can get them and then switch to Conqueror).
  2. Welp, I have been totally missing out using the multi-hit skills and now I've lost Mazio and Mabufu f*ck. I tend to have EP problems with Itsuki since he uses skills every single turn, without a need to Guard at all. I am gonna have to adjust my tactics with him. What is Great Lord's expertise? Well that's a relief, hopefully I can plan my team's skill composition better then. It looks like a decent coverage of skills and weaknesses if you ask me. Now if I get this correctly, once you switch to Great Lord, you won't be able to switch back right? Due to lack of Master Seals?
  3. Thanks for the tip. I have half a mind of going the Great Lord route route since I've been relying so much on specific weakness and found little use in the slayer skills. Are multi-hit really useful? Enemies tend to come in different varieties and the session doesn't trigger unless all of them are subjected to the same weakness. Is there a way to regain lost skills? Else I guess I have to be careful in my choices.
  4. Most people have I already added the common points, so the OP should have gotten the idea at least. But I can say that so far, if we filter all the bias from people that are either A) Not liking the concept since the beginning and B) Not liking the localization, the most common criticism I find so far is: "The story and characters are nothing new". Which I guess I can agree on but I feel that's having high expectations, thinking the game would deconstruct the genre or something.
  5. What do you mean by "most people"? Aside from you and one more I can name, the people posting in this thread have played it and all given positive review of it without being disturbed at all by the lack of "fanservice". Others admit they are not too into it, but that's because of their taste in games. And why did you get the game at all if you are so negative about it? First you rant about the English version removing content and then you are relieved you got the, what I presume, the Japanese version for a discount because otherwise, you wouldn't buy it?
  6. Damn, all these people finishing the game and I just managed to come back to it. Just finished chapter 2's boss and man was On another note, why is Itsuki so schizophrenic? He gets all kinds of skills (Support, Magic, Physical) and at such a fast rate. Does anybody have a good recommendation of what a build to make him? I think I know for the rest so far (Touma's physical, Kiria's magical, Tsubasa healer) but Itsuki really is a Jack-of-All-Stats and yet vital because he covers some weaknesses the others can't get (yet at least).
  7. It could have potentially worked out, if the game had set up Itsuki as a manager-in-training, since that's what he basically does anyway: making sure his friends are in form and emotionally relaxed, helping on various training regiments, participating in them to get a sense of what they are doing (he is training in everything after all) and is the leader during battles. That could have been his motivation: Because he does a good job. Now I am just at chapter 2 so I am not sure if he does develop that way but something tells me to not get his hopes up, because, unless the core of the story is so, Japanese medium don't really portray management skills as anything "cool". Even Maiko, the president of Fortuna, barely gets any "management" action.
  8. That's true, but there is no motivation at all for his dedication (which must be tiring as hell). Like, no need to prove himself or that he is soon going to die or that he is unable to stand aside and always have to meddle. He just... does it. It's not a bad trait but there is nothing interesting about and, at some levels, it doesn't feel human. If a friend of mine tagged along on all the training and studying and working I have to do (which benefits my health or career or prospects) without anything beneficial for them, I would raise more than an eyebrow.
  9. So why are you complaining? That's one way to bypass the censorship imposed on the game and if it makes you happy, good for you. The game has been terrific so far for me, with colorful characters and splendid gameplay, and the typical RPG elements of running around and doing errands also adds to the enjoyment. Being unable to see Tsubasa and Kiria in bikini or Itsuki and Touma in shorts does not detract any of the mentioned elements so I have no problems at all.
  10. Give yourself some credit. It was a time when most people just ignored the game at best and bashed it down to the abyss of darkness at worst. Your arguments did convince some people (me at least) and sometimes a positive attitude is the only thing needed. Currently in chapter 2 but RL called so now I can't play as much (for a week at least). But I just want to plaaaaaaay! Itsuki's characterization is a bit of hit-or-miss for me. On one hand, he has no motivation for anything and has nothing distinctive him, other than going way out of his way for others (which is just some typical protagonist trait). On the other hand, he can be quite clever and perceptive (instead of all the dumb obvious moments anime heroes always have to trigger) at times and depending on your choices, Itsuki can be quite teasing, eliciting funny responses from the other cast. So he is not quite as annoying as Corrin nor as interesting as Robin IMO.
  11. The Wii U has a strong library in my opinion, but if you just want to play RPGs, then you are better off with a PS3/4 since the Wii U only has Xenoblade Chronicles X and this game (not counting indie games). Otherwise, the Wii U has a good variation in its library. I have had many good hundred hours with the Wii U without feeling left out at all from all the popular games in other consoles.
  12. So I found out that apparently, there is a suspicion that AtlusUSA will cut out a Hot Springs DLC (though there is no official confirmation) http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/04/western_localisation_of_tokyo_mirage_sessions_fe_features_costume_and_age_changes Well, I can say that I am bummed, because we miss potential interaction between the cast and more about their personality. The other changes are more on the cosmetic side but this is an entire sidestory session. That's a shame really.
  13. Yes I did. I generally run away from them unless I have Special Performances ready, otherwise their high SPEED nets them several hard-hitting attacks in turn and I simply won't have the time to feel out their weaknesses. I am actually glad of the higher difficulty because it keeps me on my toes lest my party gets absolutely slaughtered because of some oversight. The gameplay has far more tactical elements than I expected, with the combination of weapon/element types, Session skills and other skills. The Radiant Unity play a much larger role than I thought as well (like Itsuki's Director Unity, that Overkill has saved me more than once). So far, the games have surpassed my expectations. You deserve some praise since I do remember you posting around these threads and gave a positive view on the game. You were not wrong.
  14. What do you mean by affect? Do you mean that Magic minimizes EP loss and Defence minimizes HP loss? Aha, maybe that's why I haven't seen any noticeable effect (haven't gotten any Dual Arts yet). Thanks for the info.
  15. Does anybody know what each and every stat does? I can make guesses since I think they are similar to the FE stats but have no confirmation of whether my guesses are true or not. Like the Skill stat: I suppose it affects the hit rate? (though I have never missed once so far)
  16. Though I am just in the beginning phase of the game, I must say I am pleasantly surprised of the combat system. Specifically the use of Sessions, because (at least in Hard mode) the enemies hit HARD and repeated battles with tanking will leave your party exhausted (well, you can teleport out, heal and go back in but where is the fun in that) so I had to repeatedly study the enemies weakness in order to trigger the Session attacks as well as keeping an eye on the turn order to minimize rounds of attacks against my party (the GamePad is very useful for this). But what really waked me up was when the mini-buss in the second dungeon one-shotted Itsuki and Tsubasa with their OWN Session attacks and I had to switch up with Guarding the party members with the weaknesses (Guard prevents Session attacks) as well as whittling down the enemy party to remove the follow-up attacks at the least. And then I got a nasty surprise again when I changed Itsuki's Carnage Unity (the game's equippable weapon which allots skills to the character's when leveled up) and got completely schooled when the enemy targeted a weakness that Itsuki didn't have before, but was added due to the Carnage Unity. Completely missed checking that. The idea of Carnage Unity does promote some anti-grinding as well, since, despite leveling up, the characters won't learn new skills unless they have a Carnage they haven't mastered yet. And in this game, skills are more important since regular attacks does almost pathetically minimal damage and good combination of skills will allow you to even defeat the stronger enemies (i.e. the Savage Mirages). I have only played 5 hours into the game but I found the gameplay very intriguing and kept me on my toes. While some may or may not like the theme in the game (idols and stuffs), the gameplay definitely deserves praise for not just being any other JRPG.
  17. Finally got the game and trudging through 106 Illusory dungeon. Hard mode. That mini-boss was a nasty wake-up call because I didn't account for the enemies using Session. One-shotted Itsuki and Tsubasa.
  18. Umm, to be fair, I thought people complained about censoring because it would start a domino effect of censoring stuffs in games because they can, some which can be detrimental. But so far in the game, I see nothing that AtlusUSA changed that detrimented the gameplay or story or characters in any way. So I think it's bit of a stretch to have a mod revert to Tsubasa in bikini (although I like her hiphop outfit) and the ages back to, well, under 18. To each their own, I know. But it doesn't give the most positive reflection on the players.
  19. Well, I can safely say that Brexit is the most intriguing European political drama I have experienced in my lifetime. I have never considered the ramifications of a fragmented EU outside of Tom Clancy's work (or related) since I was essentially born in the EU and enjoyed the benefits from it. I do wonder where this could lead to, with the debate of "nation-state vs international community" popping up again.
  20. Still frustrately waiting for my copy because the postal service screwed up...
  21. While it's probably not my position to judge, I still personally think your post was very mature and I welcome such behaviour. You are entitled to your own opinions and I would not mind hearing about them as long as they're cohesive and fair-spoken. Thank you for your civility.
  22. I hope not. I want the game to stand on its own instead of requiring to be connected to past games to make it relevant for fans.
  23. Well I wouldn't buy the game if they didn't show Yashiro's sexy voice.
  24. And your beginning argument was not strong either. It boils down to, "this is not FE and it is not SMT". True. Despite its name, TMS#FE has only influence but cannot place itself in either of the series truly. But there are plenty of games out there that is not SMT nor FE that are good because of the game itself. People have their own preferences and I see that this game does not match yours. But this thread is to give impressions of the game from reviewers and SF players, to reason of why its good and/or why its bad. If all you want to do is complain of why this game isn't the grimdark atmosphere you expected, please leave and open your own ranting thread. Hehe, that's all and well. You can see that most of us here are positive to it after all and I at least like to hear the little details that makes the game good curse you inconvenient Swedish holiday for making my copy delayed. The hyped games are often the ones that fall short because fans can sometimes have too unrealistic expectations. Like for example with Fates. IS only delivered half of what they promised (engaging gameplay) and so Fates is forever stained with a horrid plot because fans came to expect some kind of Nintendo Game of Thrones. That said, Mighty No. 9 had actually poor quality in all departments, likely due to bad directions and lack of proper communications, as well as pressure from a release, basing solely that gamers would buy it for "make Mega Man great again". At least Inafune owed up to his faults. Games like TMS#FE that go under the radar allows people to enter it with a fresh mindset (if they aren't narrow-minded) and just enjoy the game for what it is. It might be bad, it might be good, it might come as a complete surprise and you love it. I always like such games because it proves the developers have done a good job. I love you avatar :D
