  1. I see alot of people that don't like her and I wouldn't be surprised if it was because of her support with Corrin. Honestly apart from that support the rest of hers aren't bad. I actually like her as a character and she's one of my favourite's design wise. She is pretty fragile though, similar to Mia in PoR/RD. She can tank some magic though, which is more than I can say for other squishy characters from other games like Gaius who couldn't tank anything. Unfortunately due to this game's sneaky RNG, banking on dodge is a bit more risky but Hana does excel on her turn and her personal skill can help soften up groups for others which is handy and her speed pretty much guarantees doubles. In terms of favourite characters, so far mine would consist of Mozu, Oboro, Beruka, Mitama, Arthur, Azama, Benny, Saizo and Niles.
  2. And finally we end things off with Arete, Sumeragi and Anankos. From this point on other characters may be discussed (like the paralogue bosses, generics, etc). I was originally gonna start another design discussion thread based on the Awakening characters after completing this one but due to the lack of responses this thread has gotten lately I've lost the motivation to do so. I may do it in the future though. #72 - Arete She's certainly different in comparison to her daughter. Alot more black and alot more cleavage. Certainly an exotic design. #73 - Sumeragi I can see where Ryoma got his magnificent hair from. Hell it could make for a weapon on its own. As the previous ruler of Hoshido his armour is alot more white than his son's which carries the countries traditional red scheme. It makes for nice contrast though and he's got quite the fancy helmet. #74 - Anankos Well he's certainly more of a dragon than Corrin and Lilith. Actually that raises the question, if Corrin and Lilith are his children, why do their dragon forms look nothing like Anankos? For that matter, if him and Lilith both have blue hair, why isn't Corrin's default hair blue? if there was anytime where the blue haired lord would be appropriate, this game would have been it. Hell Mikoto had black hair so where did the white hair come from? Anyway, Anankos is quite an interesting looking dragon. the eyeballs in his mouth are pretty freaky, as well as his masked face. His attack animation in his final form is...rather odd. The blue fireball is fine and all but why does he have trees growing out of his head when he attacks? It's just a bit weird.
  3. Next up, the villains of Nohr, King Garon, Iago, Zola and Hans: #68 - Garon He's certainly evil looking. His beard confused me at first as I thought the white part was part of his mighty coat. Turns out that it's part of that little black part of his beard, an odd combination. His flashy gold/black combined with that mighty coat give him a mighty presence also helped by his booming, sinister voice and I quite like his shit eating grin, #69 - Iago He looks like a bit of an actor with that gold mask. I wonder if he originally came for Nestra. It's a solid design and his voice makes him sound posh. #70 - Zola This guy looks like such a sneaky little weasel, with those droopy eyes and that hand pose. The little hat is quite cute though. Looks like he's ready to hit the hay. #71 - Hans Mr thumbhead. Quite the muscles he's got. Pretty much what you expect from a 100% evil general (which could apply to all of the above too).
  4. With all the playable characters covered we'll move onto NPC's, starting with Mikoto and Lilith: #66 - Mikoto It's a nice design. White and gold looks nice on her and suits her royalty. I like the gold piece in her hair, reminds me of what the Kinshi Knight's have in their hair. #67 - Lilith If I had one nice thing to say about Lilith is that her design is good...in human form. The blue fading to red hair is unique (similar to Peri's hair) and compliments her striking yellow eyes. Her blue/white dress is cute and it reminds me of Mozu's villager design, the hat is also quite cute. As for her "dragon" form...let's be honest that's no dragon, it's a bloody flying squirrel fish. I think this game was really stretching the definition of a dragon and Lilith certainly ain't one.
  5. To finish off the second gen characters we have the master of Haiku and yaoi daydreamer, Mitama and Nina: #64 - Mitama I like this one. She's a cute little shrine maiden. The red/white maiden dress is nice and carries the Hoshidan vibe and I like the little tassel things in her hair. Pink hair looks good on her and the star pupils, while a bit odd are certainly interesting. I like that her father Azama also has those pupils yet we never see them. It's interesting that her in-game portrait changes when she's angry with her breaking her ink pen, I don't think any other character has a portrait like that. I like her carefree, mellowed out voice, and she get's some amusing lines (taking after her father), particularly when you see her in a shop. #65 - Nina Another one I like, probably my favourite of the children designs. It just clicks for me, the twintails, the little red robe, her cute facial expressions it just works for her. A nice mixture of elegant/sexy, with her voice acting attributing to that. It also helps that her hairstyle is one of my favourite female hair designs and the white hair is actually alright on her (I find white hair is an odd one to have for specific characters, the only Awakening kid I liked white hair on was Nah).
  6. Next up, a ninja who looks familiar and the nervous knight, Asugi and Ignatius: #62 - Asugi Ninja Gaius. That basically sums him up. I hope that this cut and paste trope never comes back. #63 - Ignatius His armour design is similar to Benny, but taking the grey scheme over the black. Like Benny it works for him and I like his flowing hair in contrast to his father's buzz cut hair. His skin also looks more pale in comparison.
  7. Next up, the flyers of Hoshido and Nohr, Caeldori and Percy: #60 - Caeldori Basically just Hoshidan Cordelia. The worst offender of the 3 clones in terms of originality. #61 - Percy Shares the same issue as Kana where I feel he just look's a bit too young to be fighting, but design-wise is better. Follows in his father's footsteps with the colour scheme and the mask, while a bit silly does make sense considering his character. It is amusing to see his voice being very similar to Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising, I certainly wasn't expecting to hear his voice in the role.
  8. Next up the wooer of ladies and the calm samurai, Soliel and Hisame: (I had to post this in a hurry to go out somewhere so I won't post my opinions on these characters until tomorrow) #58 - Soliel I remember being rather off-put by her face the first time I saw her design as it looked very similar to her father's. It's not so much of a problem now though. Her mercenary design isn't much different from the others but she does rock it well. The colour scheme of black/gold is also nice on that outfit and I'm diggin her long' flowing pink hair. I also like that she has the same headband that Olivia had, I'd like to think that it's the same one that she wore that Inigo held onto as a memento to his deceased mother. She has a lot of enthusiasm in her voice which suits her personality along with some low key ones when she gets flustered that are quite cute. #59 - Hisame A blue variation of the samurai design, suitable for his calm attitude. I like his hairstyle, it's a nice contrast to his father's wild hair. It's a simple but nice design that does it's job.
  9. Next up, The magic slingers, Ophelia and Rhajat: #58 - Ophelia Same affair as Nyx, the battle bikini is silly and obvious pandering. But like Nyx I like her head's design. The long blonde hair is nice as is the headpiece and I noticed her face is similar to Lissa, which would make sense considering she's her grandmother. Her voice is cute and she delivers some amusing lines. #59 - Rhajat The first of the three clone characters. I'll put it out there, It really bothered me that they cut and pasted 3 Awakening characters into this game and claims them to be "original" characters because I ain't buying it. I look at Rhajat here and it's just Tharja, but with a Hoshidan twist. I do find Rhajat to be the better designed of the three because of this though, hell it's better than Tharja's design. The slick black/maroon colour scheme makes for a nice contrast in comparison to the more bright coloured one's Hoshido usually get's. But voice wise and hair wise she's just Tharja.
  10. And now we move on to the shape shifting children, Selkie and Velouria. And what timing this is as it just so happens to be Selkie's birthday as well as mine. For this special occasion an extra picture shall be added: #56 - Selkie A cute little fox girl. She's another favourite of mine of the kids designs. Her red/white dress is simple but nice to the eyes and rocks the blonde hair and fox ears well. Her voice certainly stood out for me, being very squeaky and exited, which is appropriate for her character but was quite bizzare at first, It has grown on me over time. I do find it amusing to see her yelling "weeeeee" as she missle dives into the enemy. #57 - Velouria Another nice design, although there was something about her design, particularly her portrait in-game that was eerily similar to Nah. Her hair was almost similar in style (minus the braids), her long pointy ears are similar to the manakete ears, discluding her black pants her colour scheme was similar and even her voice seems similar. It also didn't help that I liked Nah with white hair so it made it hard to distinguish them. However when it comes to copy and paste designs this one doesn't come anywhere near the level of plagiarism that characters like Hayato and the clone kids achieve so it's a bit of a nitpicky thing for me. Apart from that it's a solid design and the red hood is cute.
  11. Next up, The Nohrian royal kids, Siegbert and Forrest: #54 - Siegbert Unlike Shiro, Siegbert definitely looks like he's taking after his father. He's got similar clothes to him and the hairstyle is similar but lacking the locks, in fact the hair is rather flat (literally). Considering his personality it makes sense that he'd follow in his father's footsteps so it works in that regard. #55 - Forrest Another edition to the "beautiful men" variety that we've seen from characters like Lucius and Libra. He's certainly the most feminine of this trope I've seen in this franchise and hell when I first saw him I did legit think he was a woman, Which I didn't even think of with Lucius and Libra. Clothes wise he looks very similar to Maribelle, in fact it's almost like a gender bent Maribelle which is....rather off-putting now that I put it like that. The difference in his design comes from the brown colours, the pink beret and the bronze shield. It works for him considering he's all about fashion but the Maribelle comparison make's it feel a bit less original now.
  12. Next up, the Hoshidan royal kids, Shiro and Kiragi: #52 - Shiro I like this one. He looks to be following in his father's footsteps in growing that mighty mullet of a hair (Albeit it he still has a long way to go on that). While not as flashy as his father, it makes sense considering his lack of knowledge of his father's position in his world. He does carry on his father's colour scheme though which suits him well and it also it looks like the spear fighter uniform is of a unisex kind being exactly the same as Oboro's minus the colour scheme. Voice wise he sounds more cocky and headstrong in comparison to his father. #53 - Kiragi Similar to Takumi but minus the ponytail hair, but like Shiro may follow in his footsteps one day. His design is interesting, he has the same kind of clothing as Takumi but with some differences, those being the brown fur over the white fur around his waist that also looks more raw and not as polished as his fathers and his blue theme that is darker than his. Simple but solid design, I Also like the enthusiasm in his voice and I get a chuckle out of his celebrations in a victory after plucking someone with arrows.
  13. Next up we have 3 children to look at, due to the numbers would have left me with 1 to do on one of the day so that ain't gonna happen, Dwyer, Sophie and Midori: #49 - Dwyer The one thing that caught my eye with Dwyer's design the first time I saw him was his facial expressions. He looked like such a paranoid fella, even though his personality isn't like that. Design wise is pretty solid. Slick black design looks nice and I dig his wild hair style. Also I noticed the spade symbol on his little shield there, which is a nice touch. I wasn't expecting the voice he got but overall it works, especially considering his personality. That slow, can't be arsed feeling it portrays works well for him and is amusing to listen to. #50 - Sophie A decent design held back by the lack of pants (again, just sticks out with all the heavy armour). Her hair design is interesting, in fact I just found the support where she talks about having her hair like that on purpose. Another heavy black coloured theme which is common with the Nohrian characters. I like her cheery, bubbly voice, it suits her. #51 - Midori Mighty Midori! I like this one. I love the green twin tailed hair (a personal favourite combination) and Midori's facial expressions are quite cute. Her clothes are also nicely designed, with the green/tan complimenting each other, the little gold circles adding flair, and the wooden box on her back where she keeps all her herbs, spices and everything nice. Her voice also adds to the charm and I like her crit quotes, particularly with them medicine puns. I suppose I have a weakness to green things due to it being my favourite colour. Overall one of my favourites of the children designs. Also I like the apothecary animations, while the standard attacks are what you expect from an archer class, the other animations from the shooting and falling backwards (sometimes a long roll) and the aerial cartwheel are quite amusing to watch and I like her victory animation, she's just so happy to win.
  14. Now onto the 2nd generation characters, starting off with Kana and Shigure: #47 - Kana A cute little design, perhaps a bit too little. I felt bad fielding these guys as they just look waaaay to young to be fighting (not helped by their personality that confirmed their rough age). Design wise they're pretty much the same as Corrin, even FKana has those thigh holes, which is rather off-putting for such a young girl. I do prefer FKana over MKana though, she's just cuter and the hair bun works well for her, plus the way she say's papa s quite adorable. #48 - Shigure Alot of blue and gold on this guy. The fringe does look a bit silly but otherwise his design is pretty solid. Pretty much like Subaki's but with different colours. The blue/gold combo works well and suits his character. His voice is nice and soothing, he does pretty well with the singing too.
  15. To finish off the first gen characters we have the wind tribe chieftain and everyone's favourite mascot character, Fuga and Anna: #45 - Fuga Blimey this guy is the size of a mountain. He's the most buffed looking character out of the whole cast and it's what you want with a chieftain. The large tribal beads are a nice touch and also amplify his mighty presence. His bottom half is almost like Hinata's but more armoured. Solid design overall. #46 - Anna (No 4koma art of Anna, resorted to her cipher art) Good old Anna. Her jester like design in Awakening is traded in for the outlaw look, which personally I find works better for her and her profession. I've always liked her design, with her cute red hair and her mischievous expressions, it's simple but it works for her, especially with all the changes she's gone through in each game. Her voice is a bit different from Awakening, a bit more high pitched and cute. Personally I think i prefer her Awakening voice.
  16. Now onto the Hoshidan ninja turned Outlaw and the goofy ruler, Shura and Izana: #43 - Shura I like the green/black combo (my favourite combination), and his wild, spikey hair works well for his outlaw look. Not too much to say about him but overall a solid design. #44 - Izana Didn't see him the first time I caught glimpses of leaks for Fates. He certainly got the whole "looks can be deceiving" look going for him considering his personality. He looks nice and certainly has a royalty vibe to his outfit. The black and white mixed with the gold parts blend well with each other and his hair is quite fabulous. I guess that would win him plenty of hair style contests.
  17. From Nohr we have the rebellion fighter and Felicia's sister, Scarlet and Flora: #41 - Scarlet A nice design. Her ruffled hair/headband combo works well with her character. The dark red/black stands out amongst all the black design of Nohr and is suitable for her involvement with Hoshido. Her voice is good, alot of spunk to it with her casual remarks like "Yo". #42 - Flora Design wise apart from her head is practically identical to Felicia. I do prefer Flora's design over Felicia though, the blue twin tail hair is cute and is suitable for someone of the Ice Tribe.
  18. Now onto the late Mikoto's retainers, Yukimura and Reina: #39 - Yukimura A solid design. The blue hair and glasses look nice on him, and it's style is suitable for a tactician. I noticed the stubble he has on his chin, which reminds me of how rare it is to get characters with facial hair in these newer games. I really like the design of the Mechanist. They were the first new class that caught my eye and I like the idea of a mechanical mount that shoots arrows and shurikens. The way they move makes them look quite unique and I love the victory animation. #40 - Reina Another solid design. The kinshi knight design is nice and contrasts with the sky knights design. Her face scar gives her a tough, veteran look and I'm diggin the blue/gold colour scheme. It's interesting that she wears pants in comparison to the other kinshi knights who don't appear to do the same. I also like her boots, the feather make them pop out with the way they point out like spearheads. Her voice is a nice, calm, motherly voice, in fact she reminded me of Cherche a bit.
  19. We now move on to the animal shape-shifters, Kaden and Keaton: #37 - Kaden I have to say, both Kaden and Keaton are better designed in comparison to the Taguel's Panne and Yarne. Kaden's design is simple, but pleasant to the eye. The soft blue contrasts well with his bright orange hair and tail, similar to Oboro's colour scheme. The kitsune's form is pretty good and I love the animations they pull off, The sonic spin dash and the torpedo dive being one of my favourites. #38 - Keaton Keaton's design caught my eye the first time I saw him. It's a funny blend of fancy black and white clothes and overgrown Aussie mullet. It's a combo I'm surprised works and I also dig the Wolfskin design. While they're animations aren't as flashy as the Kitsune's, they do have some amusing animations with their big swinging arms and they're war cry for a victory (Which made me instantly think of The Bloody August from the Anime "Orphen").
  20. Next up, the border guards, Benny and Charlotte: #35 - Benny One of my favourite Nohr designs. I like his rough, scary look, which contrasts with his kind personality. The buzz-cut hairstyle and the scar work well for his image, as well as his pale skin. The black armour is really good. It looks so slick and threatening, and well suited for a knight. His voice is also good, ranging from kind and lovable giant to scary warrior when critting. Also at first I thought his haircut was unique to him until I saw Barth in Binding Blade who has a similar haircut. #36 - Charlotte Seems like someone wanted to compete against Camilla in terms of sexual armour. It's...odd. Her leggings look like they wanted to be pants but had the thigh areas cut out. She's probably one of the few character's I prefer in their promoted form as she gets a nice wolf skin like design that works well for her. Her over the top design looks like something you'd see of a barbarian woman from some obscure 90's fantasy game. At least it's appropriate for her character considering she's a gold digger, I can imagine her doing this on purpose to lure men. Take that aspect out however and it's another pandering design. Her voice is a nice mixture of sweet, innocent gal and bitchy, no nonsense woman, suitable for her multiple personas.
  21. A bit late today due to being away from my computer. Next up, the spellflingers, Orochi and Nyx: #33 - Orochi Another favourite of mine from the Hoshidan designs. Her hair is lovely, the soft purple and fancy hair buns give her a elegant look. From her ingame portrait she's quite ripped in the abs department, quite a surprising feature for a mage. I like that her pants have the same diamond pattern that Oboro's had. I like the playfulness in her voice, her giggles are charming. #34 - Nyx Well the Tharja look seems to be the new staple for female dark mages now. It's a shame they dropped the mysterious heavy robes look from previous games, as they were more suitable for someone working in the dark arts. The battle bikini's are ridiculous, and obvious pandering (Why else would Tharja have gotten a fancy figurine over the main characters). It's not all negative though, Her facial design carries her for me. I like her long, wild hair which goes well with the headpiece and rune markings on her face. It give's her a fortune teller look which I like, just a shame the rest of her ain't too good. Her voice is quite an amusing one, considering she's an old character in a young body. Her little yelps during attacks are cute and I dig her quotes, personal favourite being "Ugh, for Crying out loud!", appropriate if she get's a crap level up.
  22. With the retainers covered we move onto the tribal warriors, Rinkah and Hayato: #31 - Rinkah A fierce warrior we've got here. I really like her design, from her ripped arms and abs to her wild white hair. The mask is neat and is a nice piece of her tribe's culture to display. The tribal markings on her face are also a nice touch. Her design just screams presence and power, exactly what I would expect from an Oni Savage. Her deep, serious voice works well for her, adding to her fierce nature. The Oni Savage animations are alright, but I had a good laugh with her blacksmith crit animation. #32 - Hayato A Hoshidan rendition of Ricken. I'm disappointed in IS for resorting to copy and pasting certain designs from Awakening (Which will get worse once we get to a certain trio of kids), at the very least it's not a bad design. Hell It's more flashy in comparison to Ricken's getup. In comparison to the visuals of Rinkah, Hayato's got a softer look going on with the blue theme, little flowing cape and the little tassel things around his head. It makes for a nice contrast between the Wind and the Fire tribe's aesthetics. His voice is one of a confident and somewhat cocky nature which suits his character from what I've seen. The diviners animations are interesting in comparison to the dark mages when using the spirit magic. The way the cards float around summoning spirits upon their foes makes for an interesting way of doing magic and their crit animations are pretty acrobatic.
  23. To finish off the royal retainers we have Laslow/Inigo and Peri: #31 - Laslow/Inigo Pretty similar to Severa's design but favouring the pale blue over the red. No complaints here. His voice seems a bit deeper and suave in this game in comparison to Awakening. The mercenary animations are simple but fun to watch, the sword pile driver move is fun in action as is the upper cut slice. #32 - Peri My favourite of the cavalier designs. I was a bit put off by her blue/pink hair at first but now I find it to be rather charming, and considering she comes from a rich family I can imagine her being spoiled for choice when it came to her looks. The white armour with the slight bits of gold look quite nice and varies it up amongst all the black armoured units and the little dress part over the pants, like the mercenary design for Severa is quite cute. It's a shame she loses it when she class changes to paladin and/or great knight. It's also interesting that she has a heterochromatic eye considering that you can't really see much of it under her hair. Her voice is a nice mixture of childish and cute with a touch of sadism, it really works for her. Cavalier animations are pretty standard but the charge they do when proccing Luna is interesting, almost like a jousting move in action.
  24. Ryoma's retainers take the stage, Saizo and Kagero: #29 - Saizo In contrast to our green ninja Kaze, Saizo's got the piping hot red theme going on. The hair I find suits him well, with the spiked up fringe in comparison to Kaze's more flat, pointy hair. It's interesting that he's always wearing the ninja mask, which makes for a threatening look. A solid design and an interesting take on the Christmas knight's tradition. His rough, growling like voice is suitable for his character and it almost reminded me of Steve Blum. #30 - Kagero The non Christmas knight ninja. The female variant of the ninja is certainly different to our ninja bros. It's alot more revealing in the leg/chest department in comparison and the yellow cape is an interesting thing to wear for this profession (Wouldn't it be a bit problematic with stealth due to it's colour and length getting in the way?). Her ponytail hair is lovely and another addition to the Takumi hair fan club and she looks nice with the maroon colour scheme. I suppose it's also worth noting her jiggle physics on her animations, which I didn't even notice at first until I invited her into the treehouse and it made me wonder if Team Ninja got in on the production. Her voice is a nice soothing one. The animations for the Ninjas are pretty sweet. Very flashy and acrobatic, just as I'd expect from a Ninja. I especially like the crit animations and the one where they start to perform a pokemon double team. It also makes pulling off Lethality pretty satisfying.
  25. The variety in various styles for the cards is quite nice, especially when they do the cards that make up a picture if you put them together (like the latest series that has Sigurd along with 2 other characters making a neat little swords together pose). Although some of them do look a tad dopey, but are amusing in that regard (Mia's Lvl 1 cards comes to mind). Fair enough, It would be jarring to come across a design in that fashion. Consistency in that case is key to good design.
