  1. With Marth having the title "Hero King" and Ike having the title "Radiant Hero" in Fire Emblem Engage and the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC, I was wondering if there's a compilation of all the titles that the lord/lead characters have from both Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem Awakening's DLC. The Fire Emblem Engage titles are easy enough to find, though I'm not really sure where to find a list of all the lords'/leads' titles from the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC. Also, I know that some lords/leads (Eliwood comes to mind), don't have official titles, and I thought it might be fun to brainstorm title ideas for lords/eads that don't have them.
  2. Well, from what I recall, 14 is the deployment limit in the final chapter, so you probably want to keep your team to that number. As for who else to put on your team, Alfred definitely comes to mind, with how many of the characters he supports with on your current list. Hortensia also has a fair amount of support compatibility with your current list. As for who to put for the 14th character, I'm not really sure, even with me looking at the SF Engage Support Conversation List. I'm kind of leaning towards Celine or Fogado, due to royals having a fair amount of support compatibility with each other. A handy tip to remember is all the elder sibling royals support with each other and all the younger sibling royals support with each other.
  3. So from a purely character/personality-wise perspective (so we're not taking into account in-game usefulness at all), are there any skills that you think really fit certain units well? Ivy and Veyle with Draconic Hex feels like a given, with both of those characters being magic casters (which usually cast spells and curses/hexes) and having heavy dragon themes in their character/unit type. Vander with Mentorship also feels like a given, character-wise, due to him being a mentor figure to Alear, Clanne, and Framme. With Lindon formerly being a teacher, Mentorship also fits him as well.
  4. I only realized today that Clanne and Framme are supposed to be the Abel and Cain of Fire Emblem Engage. I mean, I guess it's debatable if they are or not, but with their green and reddish outfit color schemes, their colors being mentioned even in their personal skill names, and with them having favorite foods that match the character's color (pickles for Clanne and beets for Framme), I think it's pretty clear that they're supposed to be the "red and green duo" for Fire Emblem Engage. Did you guys realize this as well? Or do you not agree with Clanne and Framme being the Abel and Cain equivalents of Fire Emblem Engage? I guess to give this thread a broader topic, you can mention and bring up other character archetypes you noticed in Fire Emblem Engage. Aside from Clanne and Framme, Ivy being the Minerva equivalent and Kagetsu being the Navarre equivalent come to mind (particularly with them starting off as enemies). Vander being the Jagen equivalent goes without saying.
  5. I'd say Fire Emblem is not mainstream to the general public/casual gamers, but it is to moderately-versed/hardcore gamers. I mean, it's pretty hard to get a game series to be as well known and mainstream as Mario, Pokemon, or Call of Duty to both gamers and non-gamers alike. Though at the same time, that's a ridiculous standard to set for most game series (especially game series with a learning curve as steep as Fire Emblem's). That's Fire Emblem: Three Houses, correct? Since it's kind of related to the topic: does anyone know if Engage's first week/month sales were higher than Three Houses' first week/month sales? I ask since I want to know if the Fire Emblem series sales/popularity is still growing with each new/non-remake game release or not.
  6. Wow... so many thorough and in-depth explanations and examples... thanks everyone! I think I get the gist of it now. Though people are more than welcome to keep posting their explanations and thoughts on player phase focused games compared to enemy phase focused games.
  7. The only advice that I can think of is to build up confidence by first playing and beating FE games that have the rewind feature, like Shadows of Valencia, Three Houses, and Engage. The rewind feature is a lifesaver for me, with how it makes the harder maps feel way more bite-sized, and how decisions and moves don't feel nearly as heavy or nerve-racking, since you can just rewind if something goes wrong, so long as one your leads don't die. Even starting a new gaming session for the day in the middle of a map is more manageable since I can rewind, look at what happened in each of the turns (but not actually confirm the rewind) and bring myself up to speed and continue the map from there. For example, if I was in the middle of an Engage skirmish on Tuesday, had to quit in the middle of it to go to sleep for work the next day, then start up my gaming session on Wednesday after work is done, I can just look at the rewind points to recall what happened during the battle, and refresh myself on how the battle started, how I got to that point, and what I was focused on doing next (like healing someone, getting a flier out of an archer's range, etc.).
  8. So I've seen people bring up somewhat frequently that certain FEs are player phase focused and others are enemy phase focused. However, I've never actually heard specific reasons why that is, and I can't figure out the factors that make an FE player phase focused or enemy phase focused. Can someone explain it? The only thing I can think of that'd make a game enemy phase focused is ambush enemy reinforcements. But with FE3/11 being considered a player phase focused game and FE6 being an enemy phase focused game (from what I've seen people on SF mention, anyways), and both those games having ambush enemy reinforcements, that alone can't be it.
  9. As a tribute to Mario, I really enjoyed The Super Mario Bros. movie, with all of the classic tunes, lore, rules of the Mario universe, references/easter eggs, and Mario characters/locales they were able to accurately recreate. As a story, I guess it was... okay? Though with Mario media having barebones stories in general, I guess that's to be expected. It was really amazing seeing fellow Mario fans in the theatre and seeing just how much Mario spirit everyone had. A good chunk of people were wearing Mario and Nintendo themed shirts, quite a few people had Mario themed hats and Mario themed merchandise on them, and there were even little kids wearing Mario and Luigi hats, and a little girl dressed up as Peach. Not even the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie showing or the Spider Man: No Way Home showing that I went to had any people wearing outfits or shirts that pertained to the movie. There's just something really heartwarming about seeing the next generation of Mario fans in person and knowing your childhood game series will get plenty of love and support from the next generation. I went to two showings (one on Friday with my siblings, another on Saturday with my friends) and there was a lot of Mario spirit going on in both showings. Even with the movie being out for over a week, the Friday 8:00 PM showing was 60%-70% full, while the Saturday 2:30 PM showing was 70%-80% full. I'm really surprised and ecstatic with just how successful and popular this movie is. Oh, and for those who haven't seen the movie yet, stick around until the very end of the credits. There are mid and post credit scenes. (I hope that doesn't count as a spoiler) Do you really want no spoilers in this thread whatsoever, or it is okay to just put spoiler elements in tags? I've already typed up a list of spoiler related elements I did and didn't like about the movie, and I really want to post it somewhere so I can see what others think about my list.
  10. What is the best way to farm for Gold? The main ones I'm using right now for my newest file are trying to use Anna and her skill, enemy skirmishes, and selling what I gain from purple spirits (Surge tomes in particular). Are there any ways to get extra permanent statboosters like Speedwings and Secret Books, or are they only obtainable during specific story and sidequest chapters? For the purpose of this question, I'm not counting paid DLC. I definitely prefer them over bosses on gates/thrones with heavy defense/evade. At least it doesn't leave you heavily restricted as to who you can damage the boss with. From this link I found: "As a nod to the original game, players who travel to the top right-most portion of the map and examine a tile next to a rock and the sea will find a hidden Goddess Icon they can collect."
  11. Woo! Go Mario movie! I haven't seen it yet, but I plan on watching it with my siblings tonight. Supposedly, the Mario movie is on it's way to dethroning Frozen 2 for the highest grossing animated movie, and no offense to Frozen 2, but I hope it does.
  12. Sorry, scratch what I said yesterday. From what I checked last night and today, there's some scaling involved, depending on how full the bond level meter is (though it doesn't appear to be affected by the bond level itself, whether it be level 1 or level 9 from what I've tested). This was the result of two of my tests (since no numerical values are given for the bond meter, I had to eyeball it and estimate the meter percents): Jean: Level 5 Bond with Celica Ring Cleaning brought the Bond Meter from 0% to 30% Alear: Level 2 Bond with Sigurd Ring Cleaning brought the Bond Meter from 80% to 88% Regarding ring dirtiness, the bond level boost does not increase with a dirty ring. I've cleaned really dirty rings, and it's still raises around 8% to 30% of the meter (which is the same meter amount as a mostly clean ring).
  13. I Does anyone know of a link/site that shows all of the available treasure and item drops in each chapter? (like what's in each treasure chest in each chapter, or how there's a Steel Axe drop in chapter 7, a Wind Tome drop in chapter 8, etc.) Ah, got it. Thanks.
  14. Regarding Roy's +5 Level skill, what exactly does it do? I can't tell what it's supposed to do performance-wise or stat-wise. I mean, does it raise stats like strength and speed, but just doesn't show it? Does the game record or save the amount of relay trials that you failed, whether they be ones you start or ones you join mid-way? (Eg: if you started a relay trial, and someone purposely sabotaged it when they join mid-way, would it record the record of that loss somehow, even though it wasn't your fault?) Similarly, does the game save online battle win/loss records for non-custom battles? From what I've seen and experienced, it raises the bond level by around 1/10th to 1/8th of the bond meter, though I haven't ever seen it bring the bond level to the next level (eg: repeatedly ring polishing at a level 1 bond will only make the bond level go to 1.99 max, and you have to undergo a battle with the emblem ring equipped to push it to the next level. Either that, or you have to be really lucky and have the character face that particular emblem character randomly in the area, but that's highly luck based). From what I've experienced as well, the ring polishing raises up the bond level by the same amount, regardless of whether it's a level 1 bond or a level 19 bond, so you don't have to worry about ring polishing being less effective the higher your bond level is. 15. As the thread title states, which amiibo outfits do you think best fit each royal(s), appearance-wise? Or alternatively/similarly, which royal(s) do you think best fits each amiibo outfit, appearance-wise? For me, this is what I think: Marth: Alear, though Alfred works pretty well also. I mean, they both look really regal, prim, and proper, so they fit the outfit well. Alcryst, I think kind of works, with his kind of bluish hair. Celica: Celine, with how well the outfit's colors match her. Hortensia comes pretty close, though, also for color matching reasons. Sigurd: Alfred, though I'd say Alear is the next closest. The other male royals don't really fit Sigurd's outfit too well. Leif: Alfred, though I'd say Alear is the next closest. The other male royals don't really fit Sigurd's outfit too well. Roy: Alfred, though I'd say Alear is the next closest. Diamant works pretty well with the Roy outfit as well. Lyn: I feel like Timerra is the only one that works somewhat well with Lyn's outfit. I think it's the ponytail. Eirika: I feel like Celine is the only one that works somewhat well with Eirika's outfit. Ike: Diamant really fits well with Ike's outfit, with both of them having a tough and rugged look. Fogado works pretty nicely as well. Micaiah: I feel like Ivy is the only one that works somewhat well with Micaiah's outfit, due to both having a mysterious appearance. Lucina: I don't think any of the female royals work well. Though if I had to pick one, I guess it'd be Ivy. Corrin: Celine, definitely. The color scheme matches well with her. Byleth: Alcryst, definitely. The outfit really matches with his hair color.
  16. So with there being a lot of complaints about modern Disney, the abundance of live action remakes, and such, I was wanting to hear from you guys as to what you think Disney should focus on, in regards to the type of movies and TV series they should be making. The main thing I can think of is Disney focusing on fairy tales they haven't made into movies yet, and taking fairy tales from foreign countries and putting their own spin/twist on them. I mean, I really like what they did with The Princess and The Frog and Rapunzel, and I feel like they could give a fresh twist to other fairy tales. One idea I had was them making a Rumpelstiltskin movie, but instead of ending with Rumpelstiltskin's name being guessed and him disappearing/dying, his name still gets guessed but the queen tries to befriend him and reform him and teach him to help others without expecting anything in return (of course with chaos, misadventures, and hilarity ensuing before Rumpelstiltskin eventually learns to be selfless). Also, if they absolutely have to do at least one more live action remake, can it at least be Bambi? I've been anticipating a live action Bambi remake ever since I first saw the trailer for it.
  17. ... Yeahhh, that's way too extreme compared to what I'm going for. Well, the video at least did give me some good pointers in utilizing Celica and Sigurd's Emblems cleverly to cut down turncounts. I also had no idea about the "retaining experience" trick on Normal mode, but I doubt that's something I'd do for any of my save files. I feel like it taints a save file forever if you let the Game Over screen play out and don't reset ASAP.
  18. If you don't get treasure chests/villages by the end of a chapter, but they remain unlooted/unharmed, can you get the treasure chests/villages from future skirmishes in that location?
  19. So I've started a pseudo-speedrun Normal mode playthrough of Fire Emblem Engage, and I was wondering if I could have you guys list the target turncounts for each chapter, or point me towards guides that state the target turncounts I should be going for. I'm okay if you guys only have turncounts for the first 10 chapters and the first 2 paralogues, since I know low turncounts get messy once access to Warp is received. I should probably define what I mean by pseudo-speedrun: I'm going through the game with low turncounts as much as I can, but I want to visit all villages (except for that chapter 13 southeast village, since that requires paid DLC to have a possibility of saving), get all treasure chests and major enemy item drops, and save all villagers. I also don't want to rely heavily on Vander. I also want to not use of Warp, since it sets a ridiculous standard for low turncounts. I'm allowing myself the usage of skirmishes for leveling up for this playthrough, to a (hopefully?) reasonable degree. So far, I've gotten these turncounts for the following chapters Prologue - 3 Turns Chapter 1 - 4 Turns [I actually did it in 3 Turns for one of my attempts, but it involved too much RNG resetting and Vander usage] Chapter 2 - 4 Turns Chapter 3 - 4 Turns (it involved getting lucky with enemy misses, otherwise it would've taken 5 Turns for a "solid, non-RNG based attempt") Chapter 4 - 4 Turns (it involves using Warp Ragnarok to warp Celica to the boss) Chapter 5 - 6 Turns (I could probably do this quicker if I wasn't using Alfred & Sigurd to get to the treasure chests) Chapter 5x - 5 Turns
  20. I'm not sure what the current rule is for Fire Emblem Engage spoilers on Serenes Forest, but I should throw it out there that this thread will be loaded with spoilers. So in terms of story elements and character factors only, which character/emblem ring pairings would you consider the canon pairings? I hope we can all agree that the below pairings are canon, since the game itself forces the ring pairings on you: Marth - Alear Celica - CĂ©line Micaiah - Yunaka Roy - Diamant Lucina - Alear (for the mid-game, at least) Lyn - Ivy Ike - Timerra Corrin - Seadall Eirika - Rosado However, regarding Sigurd, Leif, Byleth, and late-game Lucina, I was curious at to what your headcanons are for the character/emblem ring pairings. There aren't any pairings that the game forces for those four cases, so I'm curious as to what your headcanons are. Here are mine, and my logic behind them: Sigurd - Alfred (I'm pretty sure the pre-title screen movie had this pairing, you get both Sigurd and Alfred around the same time, and I feel like most Fire Emblem Engage players accept this character/emblem ring pairing as canon) Leif - Alcryst (This was one of the trickiest to decide on, but since you get Alcryst and Leif's ring around the same time, it makes enough sense to me. Plus, with a good chunk of the royal characters getting canon/implied ring pairings, I figure it would make sense for Alcryst to get a ring pairing as well, being a royal character) Byleth - Hortensia (This pairing is technically never forced, but with enemy Hortensia using Byleth in two different chapters and the two of them being obtained around the same time, it's canon enough for me) Lucina (late-game) - Veyle (this one was also quite tricky to decide on, but with Veyle being heavily prominent in cutscenes and the story after she's playable, and with her being a royal of sorts, it makes sense that such a major playable character would get an emblem ring. Veyle getting Lucina's ring once the game forces Marth's ring back on Alear just makes sense to me, especially since Veyle is forced in the chapter where you get all the rings back.) I'm curious as to what your guys' headcanons are for the last four that I listed. On a related note, for the emblems' in-game tutorial pages, most of the pairings match up with what I consider canon. However, I cannot make out who is engaged with Sigurd and Leif in their tutorial pages. Could anyone figure out who it is?
  21. For chapter 13, is it possible to save the village around the southeast corner? Whether it's actually possible to save it or it can only be saved through hacking, what does it have?
  22. Who is at the top left and top right of Marth's cape? I can identify Hardin, Lena (I think), Draug, Ogma, Jagen, Merric, Wrys, and Julian (I think). My best guesses are Gordin and Navarre, but that looks like a hammer behind the top left character's back, and though I know that FE1 Navarre looks significantly different than FE3/11/12 Navarre, I don't think he should look that different, especially the much lighter hair.
  23. Do you think becoming blind is a fate worse than death? I'll admit, I think it is, though if I was in a drastic situation that would result in either me becoming blind or me dying, I'd still choose becoming blind. I mean, I know that blind people aren't completely helpless and are still capable of things like reading (via braille) and working at jobs that don't require sight. But the idea of losing the most major sense (in most people's eyes), is really scary and intimidating.
  24. I've mainly used Alcryst's and Zelkov's Dragon Veins. The +60% dodge they get makes them practically untouchable on Normal mode, and the +30% dodge that non-covert units get by being in their vicinity is also really handy.
  25. Quick question: are we considering Diamant a Mercenary/Hero for the purposes of this thread? I mean, I know he's technically a Lord/Successeur, but with those two classes essentially acting as Mercenaries/Heroes, with them using the same weapon types and them being foot units, I'm wanting to clarify.
