  1. I only ended up getting any of the children because I wanted the EXP and money their chapters gave. I ignored them immediately afterwards because they have no reason to be there.
  2. I actually enjoyed Nohr's story for the most part. My biggest issue with it was the crystal ball thing breaking after chapter 15 (Even then, I thought previous FEs have done worse things like the Blood Pact), but aside from that I was interested in it as a whole. Kamui following Garon's orders until he can expose him didn't really bother me, as I don't believe the other Royal siblings would have believed Kamui without proof, and the only way Kamui could openly defy Garon's orders was to leave to Hoshido, which he had already decided against. (Kamui decides to try to save lives while following Garon's orders) It was more like you played as noble general #457 until you got your chance to expose Garon's true form, which I was down for as Fire Emblem has never done something like that before. Could the world have been developed better? Absolutely. I think there could have been improvement, but I did enjoy it. I think one of the things that is triggering backlash is that Kamui isn't really a revolutionary in the Nohr path like they were advertised to be. They follow Garon's orders while trying to save as many people as they can, until the can expose him. I was a bit bothered by the Hoshido bias though, and I don't doubt that it will see some revisions in the North American release. Not being blood related to the Hoshido siblings does piss me off though. Making you able to S rank them undermines any reason to join Hoshido.
  3. So I've tested a few of the Nohrian characters, and aside from Odin keeping his yellow palette for both the Samurai and Trueblade class, the Nohrian characters I've tested (Arthur, Effie, Luna, Odin, and Charlotte) only keep their color palette for their "cannon" promotion. (What class they are when they are encountered on the Hoshido path) Arthur keeps his color scheme as a Hero, but loses it if you make him into a Berserker. Luna keeps her red color scheme as a Bow Knight, but not as a hero. Odin keeps his yellow scheme as a Sorcerer, Samurai, and Trueblade. Effie keeps hers as a General, but not as a Great Knight. Charlotte keeps hers as a Berserker, but not as a hero. Strange that it's a bit of a downgrade from Awakening where if a character kept their color scheme on promotion, they usually kept their color scheme on both promotion paths. (It's a neat callback that Odin keeps his yellow as a Trueblade though.) I guess it's a bit neat, as you know what class the character canonically ends up as.
  4. I've always disliked Manaketes and Dragon Stones for whatever reason, so I never planned on using the Dragon Stone extensively. But holy crap, I've used it a few times and it has been nerfed. My plus Speed Kamui (who doubles most enemies aside from Peg Knights and Samurais) can't double anything, and since he isn't too bulky he still dies in the same amount of hits. (I imagine bulkier Kamui's like the Dragon Stone more). It does Magic Damage, so that's ok against armor knights though.
  5. Odin keeps his yellow palette when he's a Samurai. I don't know if that holds true for when he's a trueblade though.
  6. I got 3 extra save slots when I purchased the third path.
  7. I like the sound of that! I'm gonna jump in blind like I've been doing on Nohr Lunatic, so I'm looking forward to this!
  8. Thanks for the guidance. I was looking in the wrong menu. Well, I know what I'm going to jump right into after I've done my Nohr playthrough.
  9. The third route is out? I can't seem to download it from the additional content menu or the outrealm gate. Oh well, it'll probably work by the time I finish my Nohr run.
  10. Playing Nohr on Lunatic mode blind. Most of the maps have been a fresh new hell and I love it.

  11. Wooow, so many people jumped the gun on this. It's like everybody wants to think the worst possible outcome is always the truth.
  12. It's even worse. She starts with 16 HP, and has a mere HP growth of 25%. She's far too squishy to be a front line fighter, even if you reclass her.
  13. Just because it's a common anime trope doesn't make it good. I know of the cultural differences, so this support would very likely be changed in localization even without these problems (Even then it's still insulting). However, regardless I would still hope for Soleil to be completely re-written as she is pretty garbage as a character.
  14. FE:Fates controversy blowing up on the internet right now! I'm interested in seeing what the result is.

It's EXPLODING, also heya. I'm surprised we haven't talked much haha. You seem like a cool dude.

Oh thanks, same goes to you. That does kind of surprise me, but I am kind of picky when it comes to posting. If I feel like I can't articulate a thought to a satisfactory level, I'd rather not share it.

Ah thanks, yeah I do notice you only seem to post every now and again, very nice ones at that.

  15. I'm just dumbfounded how some fan translations on Tumblr with no credible source blew up to be THIS huge. I can't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation, even if aside from a bit of misinformation, that it's mostly true.
  16. https://archive.is/qh87X Ooooooh booooooyyy. GG Soleil, let's hope this disaster causes her character to be completely revamped in the localization, or else all this negative press will have been for nothing. https://38.media.tumblr.com/580c793a1619c52183a2c4f811001ace/tumblr_nqupoli8Kp1rghka1o1_500.gif
  17. Yep. The no consent thing is what's gotten me bothered. I still wouldn't be a fan of this support, but it would just be a lack lustre, kind of weird support if Kamui had just asked Soleil if she wanted it.
  18. Soleil is at an age that she can make choices for herself. She isn't presented as a child refusing to take her medicine, Kamui is using questionable methods to "help" her, without informing her until she's already ingested the drug. This would be a different situation then a parent giving a child who refuses to take their medicine, their medicine through food.
  19. That's where my issue with this support comes from. Kamui didn't ask for her permission, and just slipped the drug into her food like an utter creep.
  20. As long as the plot holds the same meaning (I can accept complete character changes for the better, easily though), I'm fine with the Localization changing things for the better. For example, I think that the change in the reason for the Black Knight losing to Ike in PoR that they did in the North American version of RD worked better, and made more sense than the Black Knight's warp powder malfunctioning. But that's just me, and I understand why some people would be opposed to it.
  21. I prefer them being the same characters than copy-pastes. Helps that they seem to be handled better than in Awakening, especially Inigo. They stick around because they believe that Xander (who Inigo serves), Camilla (who Severa serves), and Leo (who Owain serves) are people worth serving. (Hell, Inigo is even willing to die for Xander) They don't know the history of Nohr, and they certainly don't seem to be around when Garon is giving orders. Sticking around royalty is probably the best way for them to find the evil that they are looking for (probably the villain of the third route), and on two of the three routes (both Hoshido and Nohr route has some links to the great evil, even if it's not substantial, and the Awakening kids can fight the final boss on the Nohr side) this proves to the be true.
  22. Meh, I'm personally fine with most of the things in Fates, it's just a localization could make her gimmick (should they have to keep it the same) better written and her dialogue could be much better. I'm all for a localization making the writing better, just not censorship.
  23. I mean her personality. Aside from her supports with Lazward, (which is a great support IMO) Siegbert, and Ophelia (Her supports with Siegbert and Ophelia weren't great, but they were better than the rest of I've seen), all of her supports have been irritating and disappointing.
  24. Soleil's looking like one of Fates' worst characters. I really hope localization fixes her, as aside from her design and support with her dad, I've seen nothing but bad things from her. This support being a prime candidate for worst support in the game, IMO.
  25. My biggest issue with Nohr's story was the crystal ball that showed the true Garon exploding, and Azura obtaining it. However, I do believe that if Kamui had tried to tell the Nohrian siblings the truth about Garon, I don't think they would have believed them at that point. I also would have liked the invasion of Hoshido to have started earlier. Takumi's forgiveness comes out of left field as well. I would've liked him to be more resentful, or just the Final boss without any sort of possession. However, Kamui's disgruntled acceptance of Garon's orders didn't really bother me. Kamui knew that they were on very thin ice with Garon from chapter 7 and onward, so they couldn't just disobey him openly without leaving and siding with Hoshido, and we all know how that would turn out for the Nohrian family. Garon's exposure, and the reactions from the siblings made sense to me. This might be my bias for the Nohrian characters talking, but while I did have my issues with the plot, most of it made sense to me. We'll see if that holds with a better translation though, as my Japanese isn't what you'd call great. It is a bit irritating that we can't get a good explanation on this unknown force without the third route. I also find it a bit funny that the Hoshido path has more character deaths, when the Nohr path was advertised as darker.
